New models of Macbook Pros?

When will a new model of Macbook Pros come out?

Sorry, no one here will know Apple's marketing plans.

  • How often are new models of MacBook Pros released?

I want to get a new MacBook Pro, but I'm not sure whether or not i should wait til a new model comes out.

There's no set schedule. The MacBook Pro (non-retina) was last updated in summer 2012 so it's overdue for a refresh. I would check http://buyersguide.macrumors.com.
If you can wait a few weeks, I would.

  • Are both new 15-inch MacBook Pro models OK for Creative Cloud?

The "cheaper" version of the new 15-inch MacBook Pro released 10/22/13 doesn't have discrete graphics, only Iris Pro. Is the integrated graphics card enough to run Creeative Cloud, or should I buy the more expensive one with discrete graphics

I have the same question. With a fully maxed system (2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) there's no price difference. However the discrete graphics card seems like it will run down the battery quicker.
It seems Photoshop will be able to use the IrisPro 5200 to offload certain processes. The previous versions of Intel HD Graphics chips are on the list of suported video cards.

I am leaning towards getting the onboard graphics (Iris Pro 5200)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    1. How to determine the model & OS?
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info and look at the System info.
It will tell you the model ID#, and serial number.
The serial number has only three important characters, labelled A,B,C below:
    xxABCxxxx
These are the last digit of the year, and the week of the year it was built.
    Model ID# guide is here:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/by_capability/mac-specs-by-machine-model-machine -id.html
    2. No sound - when i click 'system preferences' and go to sound, it shows 'selected device has no output control'
Sometimes this can be fixed one of three methods:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300832
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
If none of the above works, you may have a hardware malfunction in your sound port. Note, if you have something connected to your audio port, it only play out through one output at a time. It does support stereo and 5.1 audio with the appropriate cables.
    3. How can i maximize the screen?
    This can mean two things:
    - You want to maximize the real estate where all the windows belong. This is done by increasing the resolution on Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays.
    - If you mean just enlarge windows, use the green button in the upper left to resize the window so it fits on the screen. Then the bottom right hand corner is used to resize the widnow in question.
    4. Is there any commands for 'cut & paste'?
Edit menu has those commands. To the right of any command where a cloverleaf icon is represented, the Command key or Apple logo key is used in conjunction with the said key to issue the command.
    5. I don't see any CD drive....how does this work?
The CD drive is normally below the wristpad on the right side. It is slot loading like that found in some automobile CD players. It supports DVD and CD burning and playback, be careful about the media used:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2446?viewlocale=en_US
    6. Any commands to drag, without a mouse?
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Trackpad let you control how you tap two fingers on the trackpad simultaneously to drag.
    7. Is there any website where i can get a free tutorial?
Select the Happy face on the translucent toolbar. You now will have a menu called Finder at the top of the screen. Use the Help menu to search topics.
Or post to the relevant OS page, and someone will gladly help you on this board.

  • Latest model in MacBook Pro

    Hi,
Which is the latest model in MacBook Pro? Plus, is there any news that MacBook Pro will be upgraded or outdated?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The most recent MacBook Pro is the Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. However, MacBooks Pro with Retina display received an update early 2013, but it's not considered as a new computer.
We don't know when a new MacBook will be released, but it hasn't been updated for more than a year

    souvikfromKolkata,
you’ll know as soon as the rest of us do if Apple decide to produce a new non-Retina model. My guess would be that they won’t do so, but that’s only a guess.
With Internet, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint representing your main usage, either a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air would be suitable for you.

    1. The scrolling, as far as I've been able to determine, is by using the slide bar to the right of most diplays. There are no up or down arrows that allow slow movement
    2. The top and botton toolbars are not visible. The top one appears when you point the arrow to the top of the screen but the same doesn't work well if at all pointing the cursor to the bottom.
    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.
4I was trying to installMacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3. I got message it couldn't be installed on my system.
    5. The red yellow and blue bullets that allow shutting down, minimizing and maximizing are missing on most open windows.
Can you do something about these problems
It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems
    <Edited By Host>

1: I'm scrolling this page right now using the arrow keys.
2: Press the escape (esc) key to exit full-screen mode. Select Apple menu > Dock > Turn Hiding Off.
    3: ???
4: That's because you downloaded an update for another model.
    5: See 2.

  • TS1501 transferring a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro (this way you can upload one album at a time, file them into a new album on macbook pro)  Pls. advise.

How can I transfer a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro?  In theory, I should be able to keep my albums together this way (once uploaded to macbook pro, i can easily file them into a new album on macbook pro.)  Not working for me!  Macbook pro does include iphoto.  I had no problem uploading ALL photos (3 or 4,000.)  Help!  Goal is to keep albums together.

    Hi all,
    Goal:  Backing up photos!
Hope:  Transfer ALBUMS from ipad to external drive (via macbook pro)
Is this possible?  Or will I have to create a file name for each of my thousands of photos?
    UGH!
    HELP!

  • Can I connect my thunderbolt display's power cable to supply power to the new retina display macbook pro?

I'm planning to buy a new retina display macbook pro, but I have a thunderbolt display and I use the display's power cable to supply the power to a macbook air. As the power connector on the new macbook pro is differet, It looks to me that I won't be able to connect it to the new computer. I'm I correct?

You'll just need this adapter, which you can buy or order with the computer:

  • I have read that new purchases of macbook pro will get free upgrade to LION OS. When and how do I go about this?

I have read that new purchases of macbook pro will get free upgrade to LION OS. When and how do I go about this?

    http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2011/06/06lion.html
The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request.
Currently that's the only information available. I suspect more will be posted as we get closer to launch.

Apple states that (of the MBP lines) it has to be from Mid/Late 2007 or later.  yours seems to be right on the line.
    Apple says
If you are running Lion, you can find out if your current Mac qualifies by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, choosing About This Mac, then clicking More Info.
you must also have the latest version of Snow Leapord or Lion
