New/Modified login items not saving
Within the System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items (for Admin user)....
I am trying to add an application to open upon login. However when I add it (both with the Lock unlocked or locked)... and then reboot it doesn't save.
I set the new login items, and even remove an old one... exit System Preferences. All appears saved when I go back into it (meaning it sticks).
However upon reboot... the new app doesn't start upon login.
I go back into system preferences pane and the changes are no longer present. So it isn't really actually saving my changes.
Any ideas?
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginitems.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
What is the Modified date?
If you don't have read and write access to the item, change the settings as directed here. Note, however, that if one file has wrong access settings, most likely others do as well. If the item is locked, unlock it.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

I haven't read about this one yet so I thought I should at least mention it. Since my upgrade to 10.9 the login items for my (admin) user account are not being saved. After a reboot the list is empty again. I have re-entered them several times but that just seems a bit pointless now Also repaired permissions on the OS X drive, just for good measure but to no avail. Login items are Mail, Messages and just one third party app: Google Chrome.
So.... Bug or something else I should try?This happened to me from an out-the-box mac without any 3rd party software installed which makes me think this is a mavericks issue as opposed to anything else installed after.

FTP login & password not saved
Under "manage sites" /remote, the box is checked to "save" my
site FTP login and password, but after I shut down Dreamweaver 8
and later come back to edit & put a page, I get a login error.
Turns out the login and password are not saved. When I re-enter
these two fields, I can put the page up on the site. I never had
this problem in my last version (Dreamweaver 3). Please help!! I'm
on the very disappointing Windows Vista OS. This problem happens
with multiple sites on multiple host servers, so it's not a single

Sent items not saved in personal sent items when shared mailbox is open in outlook

user is using exchange 2010 and the shared mailboxes are in exchange 2003. when user send an email as send as to the shared mailbox the sent items is not saved in her personal sent items. she can look up the sent items on her shared mailboxes sent items.
I tried recreating her profile when the shared mailboxes are not added in the outlook, personal sent items is okay but when the shared mailboxes is added , sent items doesn't go to her personal sent items. Please help. Is it by design?Hi,
Since Exchange 2003 server is out of support, I still suggest migrating to Exchange 2010 server.
How about this behavior on OWA, if everything going well as expected, it should be an issue on the Outlook client side.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.

Hidden login items not working
Hello I currently have both messages and email open at startup. I wanted to make them open without opening a window so i selected "hide" in login items; however, for some reason this does not work. I got email to hide but messages wouldn't. But now messages will hide and email will not.
Instead of dragging, click on the + button, navigate to Quicksilver, and add it.

Login items - not in user prefs
My wonderful imac os x - tiger 10.4.7 opens 3 items (safari, mail and ichat) that are not in the startup items list.
As the initial login takes ages I want to remove them, but as they don't appear in the list under accounts/login items I can't.
I have tried adding them so they do appear and then deleting them, but that doesn't fix it, they still open on login.
Any ideas how I can fix this."Login Items" can be specified in at least three different places. The usual one (written to by the "Accounts" pref pane) is the "~/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist" file in each user's "home" folder, but if the items aren't appearing in the pref pane, they are probably listed in one of the other locations.
The other user-specific file is in the "~/Library/Preferences/ByHost" folder, and is called the "loginwindow.xxx.plist" file, where the "xxx" usually represents the MAC address of the built-in ethernet card, so will vary from computer to computer. If present, try moving or deleting that file to see if that prevents the unwanted items from opening.
The computer's main "/Library/Preferences" folder can also contain a "loginwindow.plist" file, but any items listed in that file will open at login for all users. "Admin" privileges will usually be required to remove or make changes to this file.
Also, note that a computer's administrator can set up "login items" for "managed" users, through 'mcx_settings'. Again, this isn't something that an individual user can override themselves.
This probably isn't what you are after, but unless explicitly prohibited in 'mcx_settings', it also is possible during any given log in to prevent login items from opening by holding down the "Shift" key while logging in, but it would be necessary to do this every time. -
I mount several network drives upon login using the "Login Items", however the hide option does not supress the finder windows from opening

I imported my profile from my other pc and my bookmarks are there but my pws and logins were not imported. I figured I would just reset up a master and start over but no matter what I do the logins and passwords do not show up in the list.
What Firefox version is used on the other PC?
Did you use an extension like FEBE or did you manually copy files?
Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the signons.sqlite file that has been used before (the matching key3.db file is still needed).

The "Remember Password" extension has been reported to cause issues with the passwords disappearing, so if you have this extension then remove (uninstall) it.

I have a strange problem where if I reboot my Mac, any menu bar icons I have launching on startup load. This involves iStat as well as the battery meter. The only icons I get are Airport and Spotlight.
I have checked for the Divxnetwork.prev file as listed at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307000 but I don't have that file.
Any items under Login Items in Accounts do launch, but anything menu bar related doesn't. I've trashed various preference plists such as com.apple.Menuxxx as well as login item plists but still this problem remains.
Any ideas?Open SysPrefs > General and unselect the option to "restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps." Then, when you log out make sure and unselect the option to "reopen windows when logging back in." You can quickly do this latter by tapping the space bar.

Hello. I'm using Palm Z22 & Plam Desktop 4.2. A couple months ago, calender items were no longer syncing properly in both directions (synchronize files, handheld <-> desktop).
Now, just within the past few days, even in Palm Desktop by itself, items will not save. If I enter a new calender event, a new contact, a new task, after I close Desktop & re-open, they're gone. What's the deal? Why does nothing save?

Try exporting your data out and see if it will. Sounds like the Palm desktop needs to be reinstalled.

they get saved some times but many times not, even when "remember me" is checked
let me illustrate with an example...
in my webmail a/c i see linkedin email. i click on the link and i get prompted to enter login & pw on linkedin website. i log in, and then i go back to webmail to click on that link again, and i get brought to yet another linkedin login page as if i had not logged in yet.
i would expect the second time i click on the link that my login would persist.

Nothing else is checked off.it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

I have mail accounts with AOL and Mobile Me. I understand that to save sent items on the server, I must use the setting "Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For."
For both AOL and Mobile Me accounts, I successfully set up the sent items folders. Under the paper airplane icon, both are reporting "Contents stored on server. Namer on server: Sent."
However, only the Mobile Me account is functioning properly. If I uncheck the mail preference "store sent messages on the server" for my AOL acconts, then Mail will store sent items locally in Mail.app, but this is not what i want.
It is possible this is a problem with AOL. I have two AOL accounts, and they behave a little differently, so I think I have an issue with my settings or preferences. I'd like to know how to completely remove all mail accounts/setting/preferences from Mail.app. All my accounts are IMAP accounts, so I don't need to save anything that is stored locally.

When Running the SAP Business One application from a client PC, set all connection details ( server name, server user name and password) and connect to a certain company.
After successfully logging on to SAP Business One, close the application.
Run the SAP Business One application again.
You are required to fill in the connection data to the SQL server again.
We have moved our client to a new 64bit Server with Windows Server 2003, the clients all run 32bit with Windows Vista. There were no problems logging on from the same client PC's to th old server.
Any ideas?
