New Monitor Showing Different Colors - Monitor Profile?

Hi All, in need of some help. I got a new Acer monitor and I am having three issues. The first is when I open photoshop I ger the following error: "Monitor Profile ACER S232HL appears to be defective. Please return your monitor calibration softwear." Then it gives me two choices, to either "Ignore Profile" or "Use Anyway". I've tried both and they both make the images appear differently. What do I do? Thinking about following directions I found here: http://virtualmcube.com/hardware/how-fix-monitor-profile-appears-be-defective-photoshop-er ror-message
Number 2 is that when I open the same file in PS, LR, online and in the picture viewier, the colors all look different! HELP!
Number 3 is that my images in LR seem way over saturated.
When I first plugged in the monitor I was using HDMI and I was told that would be the best. When I ran into the above trouble it was reccmended to me that I use the DVI. The DVI did help to get richer blacks, but didn't help anything else.
And just for a control group, I plugged my old monitor back in and everything is fine, but I'd like to use my new one! HELP! Thank you

Canned monitor profiles are notoriously inaccurate or outright defective. Unless you want to go all the way and calibrate/profile with a third-party package, you're probably much better off just using sRGB, and that's what happens when you click "Ignore Profile".
It's the same solution in the link you posted, only more convoluted.
Number 2 is that when I open the same file in PS, LR, online and in the picture viewier, the colors all look different! HELP!
Number 3 is that my images in LR seem way over saturated.
Come back if you still see this with sRGB as the profile. In general Ps and Lr are both fully color managed and will use the full monitor profile for display. Most other applications are not, so this is not entirely unexpected in itself.
When I ran into the above trouble it was reccmended to me that I use the DVI.
Shouldn't matter. The two are fully compatible and the digital video signal is the same.

  • Forms personilization - show different color in a field for all records

    Hi All,
In forms personilization am trying to achieve the below one.
    Example:
When querying for a person name with 'A%' and then say find, new form opens with the result.
Say it has 10 records where person names starts with 'A'. If salary >5000, show different color to that person names field.
As per the condition say 4 record satisfies. The requirement is when showing the result in new form with 10 records, need that 4 person nameso achieve (4 records) to be in different color. But I am able to achieve for 1st record, there after only if we navigate to other records and condition satisfies color is appearing.
Let me know is there any possibility to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Vinoth

    Hello,
If it is tabular block and you want to fill only one item's color. Then then post query trigger should work. And you will have need to set through SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY built-in like this...
    Trigger = POST-QUERY (BLOCK-LEVEL)
    IF Your_Condition THEN
      SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY('BLOCK_NAME.ITEM_NAME',CURRENT_RECORD,VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE,'VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE_NAME');
    ELSE
      SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY('BLOCK_NAME.ITEM_NAME',CURRENT_RECORD,VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE,'VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE_NAME');
    END IF;-Ammad

  • Lightroom libary and development tool shows different colors

My problem is, that photos are shown different in color between libary and development tool in Lightroom 3.6. The libary shows corrected color in photos, the development tool not.
When I switch between libary and development tool sometimes, the development tool shows then the same colors.

Is your monitor profiled and calibrated, with a hardware tool (e.g. Spyder, Colourmunki etc)?
If there's no profile, or it's faulty, there can be problems.  In Develop module LR uses ProPhoto RGB colour space, but in Library module it uses Adobe RGB.  They'll look different if colour management isn't working, which requires a monitor profile that contains colour space information.

  • IPad 2 Built-in Calendar App - Adding new calanders with different colors

I have an iPad 2, i've read the user guide and still can not figure out how to add a new calendar in the 'built-in app'. I want to separate my events with different colors it is shown like that in the user guide, but it doesn't explain how to do it.

Do you have a Google, Exchange or MobileMe email account? If you have one of those accounts, I think you can add them in the Mail settings.
I Googled this and you can look through it and see what you can find.

Other than my Exchange calendar, all of my other calendars were set up on my Mac with iCal. I copied this from this support article ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1296
    Calendars
To sync calendars with your computer, choose "Sync Calendars" or "Sync iCal Calendars."
    You can sync calendars with:
Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft 2010 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)
    iCal (Mac OS X)
Microsoft Entourage 2004, Microsoft Entourage 2008
Note:  If using Microsoft Entourage, use Microsoft Entourage 2008 12.1.2 or later if syncing with Mac OS X v10.6 or later. If you would like to sync data on your Mac with Entourage, enable syncing between Entourage and Address Book.
    Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac
Note: If using Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac to sync calendars you must update to Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac Service Pack 1 or later.
    Notes:
When syncing calendars, you can sync all calendars or sync specific calendars.
You can limit the data that is synced to only events that have occurred in the last 30 days.   The option can be changed to any number of days.

  • Why do fonts show different on monitor?

I'm creating a PDF out of Indesign CS4. There are some paragraphs formatted bold, which show up differently on the monitor.
This appears also when I take a screenshot, so does not depend on the monitor itself.
Also, both are based on the same paragraph style, so basically no setup differences.
    The printouts match!
Can anybody tell me, why this happens?
    Many thanks!
P.S.: Seemed as if the figure was modified a little bit by upload restrictions, so
    here's another one:

The glyphs are described by mathematical functions, there is no ambiguity if it is the same font.
If the text is immediately embedded as a raster graphic (opposed to keeping text as vector in
an exported PDF), then it is impossible to represent the accurate shape by only few pixels
(10pt, 72ppi: very few pixels; 10pt, 288ppi; four times more in both directions).
Therefore Photoshop can apply anti-aliasing: None, Sharp, Crisp, Strong, Smooth. The names
don't say much, but the appearance is different. You may try which mode is your best choice.

  • RGB(40,40,40) SHOWS DIFFERENT COLOR IN READER 9.2 VERSION

    Hi all,
I have created few pdf doc using rgb(40,40,40) as font color for texts. But the color is oes any one knows how to solve this?slightly different in 9.2 version compare to other versions(6,7,8,11).In 9.2 it is showing slight lighter.
I m using xsl fo to pass color.
Does any one know how to solve this?

    Dear Insaponata ,
I dont understand what do you mean by oneoff but see the following:
A patch is a one-off fix for a specific issue. The patch may be a manual process, or applied using the opatch utility. These changes may not result in an oracle version change, so it is only possible to tell that they have been applied by keeping a manual record, or by listing the patches applied via opatch, assuming that is how you applied them. Patches may have specific dependencies, so you must check you have the correct patch for your version.
A patchset is a collection or bundle of patches. Typically, a patchset is a more major operation, and as such will include be applied using the Oracle Universal Installer. The patchset will typically result in a significant version change, like 10.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.2.0 etc. Patchsets are usually cumulative, so you can patch anything from the base version release to the latest patchset in one go. So the same 9.2.0.8.0 patchset will be used to patch 9.2.0.1.0 and 9.2.0.7.0.
The word bundle implies a collection of patches, but a bundle may not be as big or important as a complete patchset. The bundle simply implies there are multiple patches bundles together.

  • Same pdf shows different colors than in photoshop

    Hi,
I´m new to Acrobat, I work with Mac-support basically. I have a client that complaints that colors är not identical in Acrobat, compared to when he opens the same pdf file in Photoshop or in Illustrator. All applications are latest versions of CC and the run on a Mac Pro with Yosemite 10.10.2.
Color settings in Photoshop saved and imported into Illustrator. It looks identical. But not in Acrobat. Is there not a way to import color settings from Photoshop into Acrobat? Or what can be the reason?
Many thanks in advance, remember I´m a newbie...

  • DUAL MONITOR BUG: One Picture – One Monitor – Different Colors!

There have been several threads discussing that Photoshop CS4 and OS 10.6. show wrong colors in dual monitor setups.
The first one to prove this with a screen capture was jb510-LJ0JJQ in August 2009: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2207312#2207312
Eight months and three OS updates later the problem is still there and makes professional work with more than one monitor a nuisance.
Here's another actual example: A picture and its 100% identical copy showing different colors on one screen!
Here's how to repeat it – try this at home ;-)
    1) In the finder make a copy of a rgb picture.
    2) Open one of the two identical pics in photoshop.
    3) Drag it to the other monitor.
When releasing the mouse button you may see the bug already: the colors will "switch".
    4) To verify this go to system presets - monitors - and change the primary monitor (by dragging the menu bar to the other)
    5) Now open the identical copy you made in step 1) and see the difference!
Here's a synopsis of suggested workarounds:
    1) disable open GL (which seem to makes no difference on my setup)
    2) click "desaturate monitor colors" but set desaturation to 0 (which prevents visual switching in step 3) (only if openGL is ON) but also leads to a wrong display in step 4+5
    3) make the hardware calibrated monitor your default monitor and strictly avoid changes or dragging pics to the other monitor (which seems to be the only reliable method)
    4) some guys even force both monitors to use the profile of their hardware-calibrated monitor (using color sync) to make sure they see what they should see on at least that one monitor. What a stone-age workaround for the the world's leading imaging program!
Considering that reliable colors in professional (=multi monitor) settings should be the most basic function of photoshop this mayor malfunction should be solved with CS5! Otherwise we might have to live with it for some more years...
Have Adobe and Apple realized this bug and on their agenda? Will it be gone with OS 10.6.3? Can anyone explain the reasons for this bad bug? Is there a "officially" recommended workaround?
    Thanks, regards,
    Eric

There have been several threads dealing with this malfunction. But most faded out in silence or acceptance of the workarounds.

But man, this is no minor bug! Consistent colors are the by far most important basic function of photoshop. If you cannot rely on the colors in photoshop you can as well use "Preview" and "Word" for print production ;-)
Carson, how did Apple react to your complaint? What do you mean with "they don't get it". Do they not see it? Or can't they get it right?
Shall we open a thread at apple forums to point out that it's not the problem of a single user?

  • PDF shows different or no color

I have Received a PDF in EMail.  The sender shows different colors on some of the pages.  Diagrams and charts sometime appear black and white.  Verified we are looking at the same email attachment.  Using Adobe Acrobat Writer 10 Pro and Reader 10 - same results with either.
It was created with a MAC and is being viewed on a PC.

    Hi dniebanck,
Please go to Acrobat > Edit > Preferences > Accessibility and see if  'Replace Document Colors' option is checked.

  • Need to display different colors for Actuals and forecasting values in WAD

    Hi Gurus,
My requirement in the report is, I need to display different colors for particular values like Actuals(say value type 10) and for forecasting values(say value type 20) , and data will uploaded from flat file.
Scenario : If I upload the data for March Month, I receive actual values upto March(Jan to March month) and from April to Dec(Forecast values with value type 20),  Every month I will be getting file and similarly for subsequent months, i will get current month actual values and forwarding months forecasting values,
Now , my requirement is, When ever i execute the Report, Say if i execute for April Month, Upto April( Jan to April for actual values should be displayed in one color) and from May to Dec ( forecast values should be displayed in different color).
I had tried with following options like exceptions and could not display , as it runs based on key figure values where as my requiremnet is based on the CALMONTH , i need to show different colors for both actual and forecast values.
Kindly, help me out from this,
    Thanks

    Hi,
it is not necesseary that you need to do that in WAD , you can do the same in BEx platform, Since WAD is build above the bex reports. so automatially any changes done in Report will be replicated in WAD
Go for Exceptions in Bex. Give some range for Actuals and Forcasting at the creation of the exception.
if you do those changes in BEX automatically it will replicate in the WAD.

  • Photoshop CS3 doesn't like "Lenovo ThinkPad LCD Monitor" color management profile

When launching Photoshop CS3 Extended, I get a warning:
The monitor profile "Lenovo ThinkPad LCD Monitor" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software.
    [Ignore Profile] [Use Anyway]
If this can be confirmed, could it please be the target of a minor update/patch?
This recent T61p 15.4" WSXGA+ notbook's monitor is honestly pretty bad in terms of color accuracy. The overall sense is very blue; yellows show up orange. Is this normal? But that's really a side issue. I do most of my work on an external monitor anyway.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you very kindly, Erik; my searches hadn't found that. However, my T61p appears to already have that software -- not surprising as that was released in December and this notebook was built about a month ago.
I tried the instructions given, but Windows said my computer was already up-to-date. I suppose I could try uninstalling what the computer came with and reinstalling the download...
    [Edit 1]
Ah, wait... I retried it from the device manager instead of display properties -- here, I could be sure I was picking the proper "monitor" (the display properties showed only my external monitor). It did instal... said I had version 4.0 and v 4.1 has the "fix" according to the readme.
It wants me to reboot. I'll post again if somehow that didn't do it.
Message Edited by davidhbrown on 04-21-2008 09:36 AM
    [Edit 2]
Yes, indeed... Photoshop no longer complains. So, I wonder why this isn't in the software build or at least in the updates I've been faithfully downloading. But thanks again, Erik.

  • New monitor/calibration; now colors won't display correctly in ACR and Elements

Just got a new ASUS LCD monitor, and calibrated it with the Spyder 3 Express.
Now when I open a .CR2 file using Elements to edit the RAW image, the color is displayed as yellowy-gray and dull.  It looks the same when I pull it into Elements 7, unless I remove all color management (which, if I save the image, actually then renders the image colors neon and oversaturated with lots of pink and red tones).
I also use Lightroom 3 and I am having the same problem there.  Upon import of either an edited Jpeg or a .CR2 RAW file, the color in Lightroom is displayed as dull, grayish yellowy-green.
If I export and view the very same image in GIMP, Picasa or on the web, as long as the colorspace is intact (sRGB), the color is accurate.  Not so in Elements or Lightroom.
If you have experience with this problem is it the monitor, the calibration, or Elements and Lightroom.  I am beyond frustrated and need to see my colors properly.  I have not had this problem before.

I don't use Spyder to calibrate my monitor; instead, I use the software and tool that X-Rite makes and it came with my NEC wide-gamut monitor. I suspect that the tools are similar.
First, make certain that you're using your Spyder spectrometer and the accompanying software correctly. Although I consider myself relatively computer saavy, I find that I have to follow the instructions carefully.
Then, calibrate your monitor so that the colors and brightness the monitor displays are correct for your printer setup. In my case, the tool uses ICC color standards to set the colors. And, I tell it I want the monitor's brightness to be 90 candelas per square meter (cd/m2), which is about the same brightness as a blank white piece of photo paper. With the monitor brightness set at 90 cd/m2, I avoid getting prints that are too dark. If you calibrate the monitor correctly, the colors should look good and you should have a white that looks white and a black that looks black - that is, you shouldn't have any colors that don't look right.
Second, when you use Elements (PSE) or Lightroom (LR) to print, be sure to indicate that you want PSE or LR to control the colors and not the printer. It's very important, too, that you have the correct printer-paper profiles downloaded into the printer driver and that you select the correct paper profile. I have an Epson 3880 printer and I use Epson papers (mostly); so, I tell PSE to use the profile that fits the paper I'm using - for example, Epson Premium Glossy. When I downloaded the printer driver into my computer, it also downloaded the Epson paper-printer profiles and they appear in the print dialog boxes used during the printing process. (Other paper manufacturers, such as Ilford, make profiles available for downloading on their website.)
I hope this helps; if it doesn't let's go into some more.
