New movies available for purchase but not rental?

I know this is the content owners and not Apple, but it's extremely annoying to have to wait almost a month to be able to rent a recently released movie, especially when I can rent it from other sources.

It makes perfect commercial sense currently - people eager enough to get the movie on release will pay to buy it (in SD), and they'll later maybe rent in HD.
The studios are simply leeching your money...

    Yes, it's not good, but as has been said here many, many times, there's nothing Apple can do. The majority of the movie studios are unwilling to license their content for download sale. It's only been with the advent of rentals on the iTunes Store that most of the studios now participating have been willing to provide their content at all, something that was probably a large factor in Apple's decision to start the rental service. Unless and until the studios are willing to license a movie for download sale, there's nothing any download store can do.

    I recently changed my apple id to a .me account.    It works fine for purchasing.   However when I try to update apps on my iPad or iPhone it still wants a password to my old ID which is no longer accessible.   How can I get the update function to prompt using my new .me account?

  • ITunes Store Available for Purchases, but "Unavailable" when Downloading?

    Is anyone else having troubles with purchases from the iTunes Store? I've browsed, sampled music, accessed my account all without any problem. It even processed my purchase and charged me for it, complete with receipt. However, the purchase stays in my "Downloads Available" iTunes Store folder.
    It shows I have 12 downloads, but won't list the names of tracks to process. Whenever I click the arrow at the bottom to begin downloads, I get a message that says "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
    It obviously IS available since I can shop and be billed just fine. The problem is in product delivery! I've even tried downloading the tracks to other machines with authorization on my account, planning on transferring them through shared libraries later. It makes no difference. They won't download on any of my machines regardless of the operating system Windows XP, Vista, or 7. I still get the same message.
    I just purchased other music 4 days ago without difficulty. I can't find anything online about the status of the iTunes Store functionality. I've yet to receive a response from Apple support.
    Anyone else having similar problems? Anyone with a solution? I've checked all my firewall settings, even though nothing has changed since my last purchase and it obviously isn't machine specific since it is affecting all laptops and desk tops that I own.

    I have had a similar problem, and I have done an internet search to see if anyone else had the problem. It seems that Apple Discussions has the most up-to-date information.

    I had about 58 purchases stuck in my download queue, including TV series, pre-purchased content, and iPhone/iTouch applications that just wouldn't download even if I deleted them from my Mobile Applications folder (but I could download them on my iTouch - weird). The download weirdness started with one download being stuck in iTunes 8, and I hoped that it would get better once iTunes 9 came out. But it only got worse. I was becoming desperate.
    I had a lot of things happen in my life, so I didn't take action until last week. I was armed with my references to the Apple Discussions, the copy of the above-mentioned blog, and my previous e-mails from the iTunes Store. I went to the iTunes Support site and asked to chat with Support.
    I chatted with a really nice fellow, Tito T., who took a look at my situation and was really helpful. He was able to clear up the problem. It was interesting because the technicians ran into the "Unable to check for available downloads...." dialog box themselves, so they had to investigate further. I told Tito T. that you guys and others in Apple Discussions were having similar problems, and that I wasn't and isolated incident. I suggested that iTunes needed to look into the problem because it was fairly widespread. He said that iTunes would look into it because they were concerned about problems with the software.
    So, I'm hoping that this helps you guys out.

  • Has any Coldplay fan lost purchased content within iTunes, I have recently noticed my Coldplay Live 2012 purchased on iTunes is gone from my iCloud library and no longer available for purchase ! A bit strange considering there new album just went on sale

    Recently I have noticed my iTune purchased concert movies after being put back in the cloud are currently missing.
    I have never had purchased content from iTunes vanish from my iCloud library and also not be available for purchase on iTunes.
    When I had Apple personnel attempt to push the content back to me, they could not find Coldplay's Live 2012.
    Even more strange considering their new album just went on sale and renewed interest must be prompting fans to review their collections.
    A beautifully shot concert film is missing, a sad situation to be sure!

    10.0.8 is no longer available, except in the trial version. The current sale version is 10.0.9. Apple has never sold older versions of their software, only the current version. That's not going to change in the near future.

    A constant problem today. I have tried to purchase 10 songs and of the 10 eight have come back that they are no longer available for purchase or can be found elsewhere on the store - whats going on?
    My experience with iTunes is that this occurred occasionally, not 8 out of 10 times across many albumns, artists and types of music.
    Is there an iTunes issue? I don't have the time to spend going back and forth to get one song.
    Please advise.

    The same thing was happening to me and my dad! What I would do (and I have done) is contact apple (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/download/). Be sure to give them what the error box said!
    By the way: I wouldn't be supprised if the store was just down because they were adding some new stuff to it (like redesigning it, updating it, ect).

    Exactly where are you clicking, you need to be specific. For example, are you using the Dock, the Applications folder, Launchpad, etc. to attempt to start teh app? Also IOS 7.1.2 does not run on a Mac, what version of OS X is installed on your computer?

    The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud.  With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated.  There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.
