New music skipping

I've had my iPod for a while now. It's a 30GB. Recently, I've had a problem - with all of my recently uploaded music (uploaded from CD to iTunes, then to iPod), it jumps to the next track when there's still 10 seconds left in my current track. It's only with my newer stuff; my old stuff still plays fine. My brother has a 30GB iPod also (his is newer than mine), and he's had no problems with the exact same music, uploaded from the same computer, same everything. So, it must be something with my iPod. I made sure Compilations was off, since my brother said that could be doing it. I've tried resetting it several times (pressing and holding menu and the circle button), and it hasn't helped. I tried re-uploading one of the effected albums, and I believe I tried playing some of the tracks on my iPod through iTunes. Now a couple on the album (I believe the ones I experimented with, if I recall right) play well, but the rest are still jumping when they hit 10 seconds left in the song. My dad said his iPod doesn't work right when he has text put on it, and so it might be something on my iPod, but I don't know what it could be, since I haven't added anything unusual or different than what I usually do lately. He said it may be because I've been adding and deleting a lot of different movies on my iPod lately, saying it wasn't meant to be that kind of portable media device (I've added a movie or two a good number of times in recent past to play on the TV (through a portable DVD player with an iPod option), and then deleted it after watching it). Any thoughts as to what's wrong with it and how I can fix this problem? Thanks a lot. ^^

One thing I forgot to add: my iPod's battery has for a while been dying I think, and I haven't yet put the new one in. I'm not sure if this could effect the skipping, though kind of I doubt it, since yesterday I was having the problem and the battery life at that point was nearly full.

  • Music skipping after moving to new hard drive

I installed a second hard drive on my pc but now all of my music skips. Why?

It's a windows setting you can get to from Windows Explorer.
Tools > Folder Options > File Types
Find AAC in the list, and tell it to use itunes.

  • HT1386 i have just purchased an new iphone 5s. I have also pucrches new music on the phone and am trying to transfer it to my pc. However it does not seem to want to it coneect to say its syncing then skips over the syncing part and ifnishes.

    hi,
i cannot transfer any new music purchased on my iphone to my itnes libary. both software versions are up to date

siri will only use apple maps, this cannot be changed. you could try google voice in the google app.

  • New itunes no longer synchs my new music, audiobooks, TV shows, etc...does synch itunes U and photos...most of the music is from my own CD's

I never had a problem until "upgrading" to latest itunes.  Nearly all my music (over 4k songs) is from CD's.  itunes still recognizes each ipod/ipad and does not delete what's already on (including audiobooks that I have unchecked once I have listened to them).  It still allegedly "synchs", but only itunesU and photos get updated.  I can get around the audiobook problem via Audible's app, but I do have new music on itunes in the computer that won't transfer.

Just an update, following last nights USB sync all music shows as In the library on my iPhone, however only the same 500 or so songs are playable, the rest go from appearing to be in the library to going into the cloud and starting to download when manually selected. If on shuffle the music skips over them. The iPhone  memory usage shows only about 10gb used most of which is for the iOS/apps, so once again my music library is not on my iPhone. Apple have managed to take a great product and turn it into a steaming pile of turd.

  • Any fix for random art and song order problems after adding new music?

If I sync my touch with itunes as a restore, all cover art, albums and playlists are correct. Once I add anything new or make a change and re-sync, random cover art is missing and random songs are in the wrong order. The only way to fix the problems is through a complete restore. Has anyone else had this problem or figured out a fix? I am using the latest itunes on a PC with XP.

A few issues, but sorry let me try to understand.
Adding new music, 'XXXX's iPod cannot be written or read'' can you let me know the number. most likely music format is not iPod Compatible like HE-AAC.
started skipping songs  - these are normally due to corrupted ID3 tags, try converting them -File-> Advance -> IPOD version or use MP3 validator to fix all songs in the library. (My Apologies, only work for MP3 music that skipped)
As for item 2, you can try Hard Reset if you like to download MP3 validator.
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • IPod Classic fails to sync after adding new music

Hi, so lately I've been having problems with my 160GB classic, I've always had problems with it but its gotten to the point where I am frustrated beyond belief. SO the problem arises when I add new music, it comes up with the error 'XXXX's iPod cannot be written or read'' and before it displays this message the sync usually sticks on a song, a random song that I would've added. I restored it a few times, scanned and fixed it a few times and then when I noticed I started skipping songs, some in mid-song I restored it again and the problem repeats itself. Help would be appreciated

  • Music skips before each and every slide

Hi there. I have been burning a number of slideshows with iDVD and putting playlists from iTunes to them. No matter which DVD player I play them on at each transition (the split second before) the music skips a beat or two. I'm sure this is similar to the problem discussed yesterday in a different post, but that post talked about the skip happening once at the 8 min 58 sec. mark. This is happening throughout. These are long slideshows - so that's a different issue though. Also, to help the discussion go farther - faster - a few other notes:
The DVD plays the WORST on my computer.
I am using Apple and Verbatim DVD's.
I have tried all different music from iTunes.
The skipping also happens on the menu page.
I am NOT an iDVD expert. These 10 or dvd's are my first. I am dragging an album into iDVD and editing it there.
Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong to be getting this continual skip?

Yes, today I am using Verbatim DVD-R with up to 16x speed.
iDVD may be recording "too fast." Burning the disk image will give you control over that.
How do I create a Disk image?
    Sorry...
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • NEW "Ipod skipping certain songs" Post... Little help Apple!!!

I've been putting this off for a while, but I finally lost it the other night and almost threw my ipod out the window... upon further investigation I found a post on page 2 with 4500 views about this issue with still no resolution. My new ipod 80G skips certain songs at the beggining, middle, end, and probably without me even knowing. At first I thought this was a CD problem, but all the songs play fine from my Itunes library, then I bought $50 worth of songs (gift certificate, apple WILL NOT see any of my $$$ until this is fixed) and about half of my newly purchased songs played the whole way through (but they do in itunes). Reset 3 times, software update yes, different USB port yes, in fact I have done everything but restore because I dont want to put up with backing up (again) and "re-synching" 8,000 songs. I have synched about 12 times since with no progress what so ever. Whats the Deal???????????
Is there an answer to this problem out there? There are too many of us suffering from this for it to be ignored. It really ***** on live albums (which account for 50% of my library) and its irresponsible and downright unacceptable for it to be happening on my purchased songs. Thanks in adavance for your help and PLEASE feel free to voice your aggrivation here. Lets not only get 4500 views, but 4500 complaints!!

No, the backlight-always-on thing does not work.
I believe the problem is in disk management. I use DiskWarrior to graph my drive where I store my music, and it shows me that I have less than 1% of files out of order (which I assume means fragmented). The iPod, however, tends to have more fragmentation. When I optimize the drive and restore the iPod, the problem of skipping goes away with some songs. I've tracked this by putting the broken songs into a playlist. At one point, I optimized my music drive and restored the iPod and then played through the playlist of broken songs. Three of 31 songs were still broken, just as before. And I continue to encounter broken songs as I continue to listen to my entire collection -- a months-long process.
My old iPod (2nd generation) never had this problem, but it died after 5.5 years at the end of 2008. It would be nice if Apple would look at the software/firmware on the iPod Classic and fix the bug.
I plan to identify all of my broken songs and encode new copies of them, but I suspect that even if I always optimize my music storage drive before adding new music (I can never get the fragmentation down to 0%), I'll still have at least a few songs that will fail to play all of the way through the end unless Apple fixes the problem.

  • Unable to sync new music to iphone 5; existing songs are becoming unplayable

Ever since I downloaded iOS 7.0.3 I have been unable to sync new music to my iPhone 5. Now some existing songs in my music library on my phone have become unplayable. Red circles containing red squares have appeared next to those songs. If I choose a specific album to play, it will skip through every song without playing any of them & put those red circles/squares next to every song. Those songs can no longer be played on my phone, even though they look completely normal & play just fine in iTunes on my PC. Has anyone else run into this problem?

I've been trying to figure this out for the past couple days, but on my iPod touch 5. It seemed to happen for me after I updated to iOS 7.0.2 a few weeks ago. Have you tried the solutions that other people have posted on other discussions? Nothing else seemed to work for me except a full system restore. I'm in the process of my second restore right now. iTunes shows it's downloading the apps, but my problem was with the songs, so hopefully they work after all this... When I go into my music on my iPod touch, they all have the red circles next to them. I'm not sure if they're still downloading or not. It all started with not downloading a few albums to not downloading any of my songs.
If all doesn't work, I might have to try what this guy did(check link). Though I'd rather not lose all my plays and have to start over, but I'm not even sure that's going to work. If it's caused by a bug I surely hope Apple gets their act together and fixes it soon.

If you haven't yet, check the other discussions on this topic and see if any of them work. Good luck.

  • Unable Video Playlists On Ipad 2 In New Music Application

    Hello,
Is everyone else getting frustrated by the fact that if you browse on your iPhone to Music then to a video playlist you can play a tv series in order of a playlist, however when trying to do the same thing on the iPad 2, it is not possible, when you go to Music application then to the Video Playlist you created in itunes which works perfectly on my iPhone 4S, it shows a folder containing 0 *Songs, however on the iPhone it shows all subfolders (i.e. Series 1, Series 2 etc.) and links to the video files and works flawlessly!
What the **** Apple ? Really ? It is so frustrating ! Why can't you keep applications the same accross devices, functionality wise.
The new music app is really ugly I cannot simply use a nice list view like the old ipod app which i could see my phone library and playlists nicely on the side panel.
Another thing, my iPhone 4S allows creating a hotspot, my Ipad 2 does not have this feature? Both are IOS 5.0.1.
    What a Joke !
    Any Comments ?
    ksA

If you play the video from the ipod app it simply goes to the video and stops playing it at the end and that is it. but i found a way to play the video play list very easily:
    1. start the video playlist pressing shuffle that is on the top of the checklist
    2. go out of ipod by pressing the home button, it will stop but restart it with the apple headphones with remote control, so that the music continues to play when you are not in the ipod app.
    3. go to the video app and it will show the music video that is playing, you cannot skip to the next but if you wait until it finishes it will continue with another music video of the playlist, etc!!!!
    one more thing hanlded!
    interesting but true!!!
    Try it!!!
