New N95 firmaware update invalidates maps licence

Can anybody help me? I have recently updated my N95 to the latest firmware (21.0.016).The problem is now when I want to use voice navigation, which I had already previously purchased, it asks me to repurchase this. Not only that when, in my frustration at already owning the licence for Uk and rep of ireland, I try to re-purchase it the nokia maps application automatically shuts down. I've had no luck with the Nokia Care line - who kept me on hold for half an hour before I gave up. Does anybody have any idea how to solve this?

Hi mate - same thing happened to me. Try this (below) - it worked for me. I had a three year license and on completing the steps below it confirmed I still have nearly 1000 days remaining.
What happens to purchased features in Nokia Maps if I change my SIM card?
In case you change your SIM card, you can regain your navigation license in the Nokia Maps application for the remaining time period of your navigation license (go to Options > Extra Services > Add navigation). Choose the region for which you purchased the navigation license and go to Options > Update.
Please allow the connection to the license server to check the purchase & license options by selecting Yes and by then selecting the proper Internet access point (if asked). A note xxx-day license activated is shown where xxx is the amount of days left of your license or alternatively the mobile device informs you that the license is updated.
In some cases the application automatically detects the SIM card change and asks you whether you want to update.

Hi.
I made a "mistake" just after I got my N95 and updated the Maps program. Not the entire firmware since it's not avaliable for my phone yet, just the maps program.
Now I've understood that I used to have the tracking feature before I updated, I don't have that now.
If I run the 12.0.013 update again, will I get the original version of Maps with tracking back?

Update (All Mapped Fields) Import Action creates a new record.....

I am on MDM 5.5 sp6,and this weird thing happens everytime i run the "update all mapped fields" option in the import manager,it creates a new duplicate field with the updated value record.Is this a bug in sp6 or I guess i am going wrong somewhere.I want to update a particular field in the qualified table and i am using a import file which has values for qualified field on the main table and the values for the qualified table itself.

MDM should not behave in this way. I thing there is an issue with the Matching Field you have choosen.
I think you have choosen all the FIeld as the Matching Field ( Tab) while IMporting.
Hence any change in any value, creates another dupliacte record( which we do not want)
Please select any Field with unique values ( like the Material ID, Customer ID etc) which will ensure that the particular records are updated with the new Values coming in.
You will find the new value getting updated for the records which are already present. It will not create a duplicate record

Is nokia ever going to update it? Dont they want users to be able to use ngage. Dont they want users to use map 2.0? Why bring out a phone if they are not going to offer any support or updates while updating all the other n95s, n95 8gbs, n82, n81 and n73???

I also posted this rant and the 2nd post below it originally in Feb of this year and earlier today respectively @ /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=45177 in the thread titled "Will there be another N95-3 update?" but I feel reposting them can't hurt and will only help bring some more attention to this issue in the 'halls of power' @ Nokia HQ.
I even "kudo'ed" almost every post in the above linked thread thinking maybe it'll help draw more attention. I kudo'ed so many times that apparently I have exceeded the limit of kudos allowed per hour (10) otherwise I would be kudo'ing all your posts in here as well. Might I suggest you folks do the same? Kudo away! Who knows if it will help but I don't see it hurting!!!

I love my N95-3
When I bought it as far as I knew it was a FLAGSHIP PHONE - I don't care how many they sold it was a FLAGSHIP PHONE and shouldn't be ignored when it comes to updates. In the past it was excusable for them to ignore my phone because it was just one of many and/or they're working out the kinks in that model but N95 is/was the FLAGSHIP model from what I know about business you want your flagship to be the best and brightest you have to offer - maintenance included.
I understand it didn't sell as well in the North American markets Nokia but as the consumer it is irrelevant to me, if you cannot support your phones I am no longer going to buy them.
Nokia should also realize that the pretty much all the people who bought N95-3s bought them for FULL PRICE with no provider subsidy (afaik) so in my humble opinion we should be getting MORE attention not less. If you want your Ambassador program to work WE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU SHOULD BE MAKING HAPPY. After buying our phones at full retail price N95-3 owners are the people who are more likely to show off their phones to their friends and tell them how awesome their Nokia device is...but due to the total lack of support how, in good conscience, can ANY N95-3 owner do that?
I have used Nokias since my first phone in 1997 and s60 Nokias since 2003 but I have finally had it!
I like many others in this thread am going to be jumping off the Nokia ship. I love my phone's hardware but I need a company that supports their products, ALL of their products.

If you want my advice Nokia, stop wasting money on your "S60 Ambassadors Program" http://www.s60.com/life/mys60/s60ambassadors and realize that the people who are so annoyed at you that they are writing on message boards like this one (on your own website no less!) about the ill treatment they have received as consumers by Nokia and being turned off by this handling are the exact people you should be listening to and reaching out to!
Spend your money wisely not on Ambassador Programs but on PROVIDING NEW FIRMWARE FOR A "FLAGSHIP PHONE".
We who are online typing messages to you and others on message boards are the ones who are most likely to show off their phone to their friends and be your ambassadors without the need for a program or access to accessories or anything of the sort. I know I used to be exactly that until this debacle.
Now I understand by this point it seems a little silly to be demanding an upgraded/new firmware for the N95-3 because the phone is already getting quite old (as "cell phone aging" is quite a bit faster than humans or dogs or even computers) but realize that these posts have been going on for over 6 months.
As well, realize we are not asking you to pay special attention to our phones by giving us an updated firmware - every other N95 variant got numerous upgraded firmwares past v20 stretching to v30+ but we N95-3 owners are stuck with the old and outdated v20 from May of 2008 more than a year ago and from a time when the N95 was still officially the Nokia flagship phone and would continue to be the Nokia flagship phone for more than 6 months afterwards.
I hope the people at Nokia actually read these posts. I really do.

Using "Update All Mapped Fields" with multi-value attributes

Is it possible to update a value in a multi-value attribute through the import manager? It appears that if a source value is different then it just gets added as another value to the record.
For example, a product has an attribute of speed which is measured in revolutions/minute. Some products can be rated at two speeds (i.e. 1800/3600).
I created a numeric attribute for speed and enable only nominal rating and selected multi-valued.
In import manager, I set "/" as multi delimiter for source field. This created two entries in destination attribute, 1800 and 3600.
However, if on subsequent imports the speed values changes for this record (i.e. 1200 and 1800) then I will now have 1200, 1800, and 3600 as values for this record.
Would the proper solution be to create two individual numeric attributes that are single valued (i.e. Speed1 and Speed2)?

Hi Aaron,
in your example it would make sense to use two different attributes called "Speed1" and "Speed2". Using the multi value option, MDM allows you to store a list of values into a single field. This list is more or less unlimited, you can add as many values as you like. A change of an existing value is not possible. The reason is that Import Manager does not know, which value you've changed! So it simply adds the "new" record (which is the 1200 in your example) to your value list. This is the intended behaviour of the "update all mapped fields option". If you really want to replace the values, you can check if the "Replace" option is useable for you. But note, that the replace will replace the complete existing record with the incoming new one. This means if the product you want to import with the replace option is smaller than the existing one (maybe it does not contain values for all segments), you'll loose data in MDM.

Update User Mapping ID api

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is an api to update user mapping ids for users in EP6.0 Portal Database.
I know it can be done in the standard User Import with the inclusion of $usermapping$ but wanted to know of there is a way to do it in a bespoke program to help automate the addition of portal users who will require access to the connected R/3 system (of which there will be many).

Nokia E72 (Updating the maps)

Ive noticed that when i connect any E series nokia phone to my PC i never get prompted for map updates. But surely there would need to be some available as there are always new roads.
My current map version is:
0.1.28.107
But i dont get notified about a map update for Australia when i connect it to PC with Nokia suite.
If there was a map update available would Nokia Suite inform me?

I'm writing to yours because I'm doing an application with TopLink technology and I want to update a map that I made before time with new attributes from some tables that are in the map. Is there a way to do that task without losing the named queries that I made..??..

The TopLink mapping tools are not intended to be round trip engineering tools so when classes are generated from tables the old classes, if any, are overwritten. The general advice for using the class generation from tables is to do it only once, at the beginning of your project to get started but from then on to managed the mappings yourself.

Updating Country maps for Nokia Belle

In the past Nokia Suite announced me, when there were newer mapversions of a country available to download.
It is very long time ago (a year?) that I have received any country update. I'm wondering if this service is still available for Nokia with the OS Belle?

PS For a long time Nokia Suite couldn't connect with the Nokia server. With some help on internet I am now able to re-connect with the nokia server....But may be not for updating country maps??

Can't update Nokia maps

I opened Nokia Maps, then Options->Download maps->Selected Finland's maps to be downloaded for offline use. No matter how many times I try, it gives an error message where it tells me "could not connect to the server, please try again later". Over the course of three weeks I've tried to continue the download dozens of times with a fully working wifi and it just won't download the maps for me.
So, now that I already started downloading the new version of the map but could not finish the download, I can't even use the old version of the map because it says I need to finish the download first.
Well, I thought I could use Nokia PC Suite for updating the maps. As I click the link "Download maps for Nokia maps" it opens Here.net in my browser and nowhere on that web page could I find an option to download the maps for my phone.
How can I update maps for my phone?
Phone: Nokia E7-00
OS: Nokia Belle FP1

Suggest perhaps that you delete E:\cities + .qf file from your E7-00, re-start Nokia Maps to re-define necessary folder structure and try re-downloading your regional mapping!

Assuming you've registered and downloaded the required maps, be patient and just leave it a minute or two while it locks onto a satellite for the first time.

E61 firmaware update

i want to know why there is no firmaware update for nokia E61, as there is many differnces between it and the E61i
like the wlan wizard and the download icon and it have a better access in ad-hoc networks,
now E61 is syuck in firmware 3.0633.09.04
why no new firmware ?!

I'm asking myself the same question. I contacted Nokia support last month with a couple of bugs I have to deal with every day, but they were unable to tell me if and when there will be a new firmware available. The latest firmware was released in 2006 so I think a new version badly necessary. Especally for a bussiness-phone.

Will Nokia keep update Symbian Maps in the future?

For sure we can define what "lifetime" means! Lifetime of my device, clearly! Or... lifetime of my cat. Or of my dog... Or lifetime of my gym shoes.
Now seriously, this kind of "lifetime"=dishonest trick... Probably lifetime of my device (obliviously not of my own life) AS LONG NOKIA COMPANY EXIST! But if Nokia will sell the soul of Finland with little devil like Stephen Elop and become Microsoft, it's clear that "lifetime" will become the lifetime of a butterfly...
In my opinion, in short time Nokia will be just dust, history and melancholy... If you love Symbian models, keep them with care and never let them go.
Windows Phone is a joke. A bad one.
Elop has succesfuly killed Nokia.
