New Nano on old itunes

I just purchased a new Nano because my mini died on me, I'm wondering how do I transfer over all the account to the new Nano? Is there anything that I have to do to have Itunes recognize it as the hardware associated with my account? Thanks.

Nope. You should be able to plug it in & go.
Cheers!

  • Just upgraded to itunes 7.0 and want to add a new nano to my itunes

I just bought an additional ipod to take running. I have an existing 20gb Ipod that I bought last year that I had synced to my old Itunes library. When I plugged in the new nano, it made me download itunes 7.0, and now it kept all of my songs in my library, but it won't let me add just certain songs to the nano, or plug in the old 20gb. Can you have 2 diffrent ipods on one I tunes, If not, how do you make this work. I only wanted the nano to put a few songs on for running, as it is alot smaller, but I want to keep my old one as well. Please help me anyone. I'm running a marathon next week, and want to get this ipod working so that I can take it with me to the race.

Yes you can use one iTUnes for multiple ipods. Theres afew methods to doing this which is covered by apple(Link Below), but since both ipods are yours, you most likly want to keep the settings on the old ipod and select "Auto update SELECT" or "Manually update" on the new nano
    New Nano
Connect it to the PC. hit the "Music" tab on the ipods summery page. here you can set it to "Auto update select" where you pick select playlist to put on the nano OR check "Manually manage music" so you can manually drag and drop songs (Or playlist) to the ipod in itunes.

When you plug it in, does it list in itunes or in windwos under "My Computer" as ipod or removable storage? Does it show the "Do Not Disconnect" sign on the ipods screen when connected to the PC?

  • New iPod to old iTunes library

I have succumbed to the tempation of a new iPod with video. I have an old 3G iPod and a decent music library built up, including some ITMS stuff, in iTunes.
I presume it is straightforward to sync this with my new iPod? Will iTunes recognise the new iPod as a foreign user?
    Any advice?

It won't be a "foreign user" if you're connecting it to the same Mac user account. iTunes will try to give the iPod the same default name (like "Martin Toal's iPod.") You will probably want to assign the new iPod a different name, to avoid any possible conflicts.

  • New Nano with existing itunes account

I lost my Nano and just bought a new one. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure my ipod syncs with existing itunes? Can I just plug the usb connector into my desktop and it will download all my music on itunes onto my new Nano? Any help is appreciated.

    Yes, just plug it in.
It will go thru the registration and then sync everything.

  • I have a new computer my old itunes was 6 and now I have downloaded version 11 and cannot get into my account to sync my ipod tried to upload new music and erased whole ipod

I have new laptop and downloaded itunes version 11on it tried to add music to ipod touch and it erased everything on my ipod I had version 6 I think on my old laptop don't know how to get everything back on my ipod

    Correct.
The ipod will sycn to one and only one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will indeed erase the content from the ipod.
Copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Can i charge my new nano with old adapter

can i charge the new nano with a old ipod nano power adapter?

thank you, is it possible to use any usb outlet charger for the nano not just made by apple, from what i heard some works but some people's ipod got fried idk
It's hard to tell for certain, but if you are going to use a third party USB AC Charger, I would check for different reviews online for whether or not they are compatible with your iPod. Just double check for input and output voltages it works with and compare it to those that your iPod Nano can handle.

  • New Nano.. is iTunes 7 'really' needed?

So, given all the issues I have read about with iTunes 7, I am not going to update. BUT, I do want the new 8gb Nano.
So, if I do not care about watching videos or TV shows, have album artwork, etc on the Nano - is iTunes 7 really needed? I just want it to play my music. that's all. that simple. nothing more.
is the requirement to upgrade to iTunes 7 more for the visual aspects than anything and will the new Nano actualy talk to iTunes 6.05 just fine - but have video limitations?

If you're ok with not having the latest features available, I don't see any reason why the nano wouldn't work with an earlier version of iTunes.
However, should you ever need to update the iPod software, or restore it, then you would, because the the latest iPod updater is incorporated into iTunes 7 and is not available as a stand alone program.

  • Using multiple new iPods to old iTunes

    Hello,
I've recently been relieved of my trusty old iPod
I'm am therefore planning on buying a new one (or two) and would like to ask:
    1. If I buy an iPod Shuffle, will it work with my existing iTunes which has about 15GB of music in it?
    2. What will happen when a buy a new "proper" iPod, and I already have a Shuffle connecting to my iTunes?
Ideally I would like to wait to see what comes from the MacExpo later this month, but I want to get the shuffle in the meantime to tide me over.
    Many thanks

You can add new iPods to your computer unless those iPods are newer than the version of iTunes you have installed, in which case some or all of the functionality of the iPod may not be supported. The content of the existing iTunes library doesn't matter, as this content will be transferred to the new iPod the same way it would be if that iPod was the only one associated with that computer.

  • ITunes cannot read or write onto my new Nano (7) using iTunes and OSX10.6.8. How can I fix this?10.7 e

I just added OSX 6.8 and iTunes 10.7 to my 2008 vintage iMac in hopes of using my new iPod Nano (16GB).  I tried just about just about every trick I could think of to isolate and handle the issue, but I kept getting the same message: "Attempting to copy to the disk '..... iPod' failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." [with big red stop sign to solidify the impression]. Exasperated, I went for a Genius bar consultation, and was relieved when the agent said that it had to be a problem with the particular iPod. He promptly replaced the iPod with a matching one. I went home and crossed my fingers. "Surely, it must have been the defective iPod that was the problem," I thought to myself. Much to my dismay, the replacement did not work either - I got the same "Attempting to copy to the disk ... failed."  I have updated my phone and that works just fine, so I am really stumped. Is it possible that the replacement was also defective?
I really doubt that, but I cannot rule it out. I believe it to be some kind of software glitch, but I am trying to get in touch with someone who might know how to fix this problem. I don't really think that I should have to go to the genius bar again over this. The convenience factor for this product has really gone to pot for me. Please write me, I would really appreciate a solution.
    Thanks

It seems to be working now. I noticed it kept crashing on the same song so I just deleted the file and now it's processing the files. I guess the song was corrupted or something. So far so good...
