New Nano shuts down???

My new Nano works well at times. Other times it shuts down when I start a new somg of podcast.
I have reset it to orininal several times. It helps for a while.
I took it back the the Apple stote and they replaced it.
The same thing happened out of the gate.
When I sybced it from factory settings it gave the message that the The iPod “David Eustice’s iPod” cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application.
I

I no longer get the message “David Eustice’s iPod” cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application.
However sometimes, most of the time, when I attempt to play a tune or podcast the screen goes to the Apple icon and stops.
Not a very good situation and Apple does not help much.

My nano shuts down after one minute of use and it doesn't matter if I'm using the radio or playlist.  This is brand new so I've only ever listened to 1 minute of a song. Help

    Kevin,
This usually happens when your headphones/earbuds aren't plugged all the way in. Double check the connection of the headphones and make sure the jack is free of debris.

  • New iMac  shutting down and starting up randomly

My new iMac shuts down and starts up at random (over and over again usually in the first few minutes of start up). I ran a test with the TechTool Deluxe and the test involving "video" failed (all other tests passed). What do I do now? Help!!
    Thank you!

Welcome to Discussions - if your iMac is new, it's an intel and you can post on their forum, they'll be able to he you better. However, your first thought should be to call Apple, you have 90 days of free telephone help, and a year's warranty. Since what you are describing sounds like a hardware problem, even if you 90 days are up, call Apple (they will provisionally charge your credit card, but will remit the charge if the problem is hardware related). They will take care of the problem.

  • Each song plays for one minute and then nano shuts down, what to do?

What to do about nano shutting down after one minute of play?

    Hello cs1870,
I would be concerned too if my iPod was shutting off after one minute.  I found an article with some steps you can take to address issues like this:
    Constantly restarting
Try putting the iPod into disk mode and restoring:
Reset the device (press the Sleep and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the display turns black—about eight seconds).
When the display turns black, hold down the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk mode.
While the device is in disk mode, connect it to iTunes and try to restore.
Sync to iTunes and try to restore the iPod

    Hello kidmango,
I am going to have to agree with planb77. Look into other drivers in your computer causing the issue, not just the nano's drivers.
It is possible that security software is the culprit. Use this:
    iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues
You may have to restore your computer to a previous point. From before the issue started. Contact computer manufacture or Windows for steps, or do a search with a search engine.
I would test the ipod on a known good computer to see if its the ipod is the issue. My gut says no. You can set a reservation at an Apple Retail Store. Apple.com/retail .You can also test a known good ipod on your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod nano shuts down after playing a few minutes

I have an 2week old ipod nano and I updated it yesterday. Now it shuts down after a few minutes playing and I really don't know why. I worked perfectly before the update!!

    planb77 saved me!!
He is right! i had exactly the same problem and didnt know what to do. I was really frustrated and was ready to send my new ipod back to apple store!
The headphones need a good push, you shouldn't see any metal whatsoever.. I was afraid to push it in case i broke it.
When you do it right you should hear a clicking sound.  Now my ipod works just fine!
thanks a lot for the advice!

  • Ipod nano shuts down windows as soon as is connected

I have just purchased an ipod nano 4th generation, downloaded itunes software with no problem, the nano is fully charged, this has been done on a different computer, my problem is that soon as I connect the ipod via the usb cable the pc shuts down and then tries to restart itself (no blue screen)it will not restart though whilst the ipod is connected, i have read that i should update usb drivers but am not able to see which one the ipod connects to as the shut down is fairly instant, has anyone else had this problem and how could it be resolved, need big help please

I've experienced the same problem since 21st November and attended the Ipod Genius Bar at Oxford Street and still no resolution. Today i have both my childrens Nano 4th Generation working/syncing etc.
The Nano identifies an apple ipod driver when connected to the computer for the first time when online. Itunes refuses to accepts this and shuts down, similar to your problem.
Without being online or opening itunes i opened computer management then device manager and disable the apple driver.
I then opened the assigned a USB Mass Storage Device driver to the Nano. I then opened the Nano in windows and found several files including calender etc on the disk. I deleted all the contents and disconnected it from the computer through the eject device feature.
I then opened Itunes and connected the Nano and it recognised it and required it to be fully restored which i did.
I have since connected it to Itunes Store etc and no problems.
By the way i have removed both Itunes & Quicktime no less than eleven times and reassigned drive letters to the Nano as well as re-create my itunes library on a seperate disk drive but the problem stems from the device drives and the programs/files already on the Nano.
    I hope this helps.

  • IPod nano Shuts Down my Windows 7 in the middle of syncing

What the heck... I received this iPod Nano as a gift, moved all of my items into iTunes, only to have it repeatedly shut down my PC mid-sync.  I've seen this issue in threads dating back to 2010, but I haven't been able to find any posting that actually fixes it, and no formal bulletin from Apple. Perhaps I haven't searched hard enough or long enough, but I've certainly tried.  If anyone knows where an answer exists, could someone please re-post the link here?  iPod syncs 1/4 of the way through, then completely shuts everything OFF.  Have tried numerous times, verified as current all the drivers I can think of, checked for port conflicts (as best as I know how), shut off anti-virus... I'm about to give up and return it to Apple.  I'm using a Gateway Windows 7.
I'm also suspicious that it may possibly have something to do with the content (?)  I have a fully legal audio-book on CD that I'd sync'd to my pc, (and never had a problem syncing to my Droid) ... this is one bit of content that's never made it onto the iPod.
    Thanks for the help!

  • 21.5" new iMac shut down without warning.

    Hi everyone.
I've recently just bought a new iMac 21.5 inch about a month ago. It's not the brand new generation but the one before that (3.2GHz i3). It has been running perfectly up until today when it suddenly shut down with out warning. The screen just went black as if I'd pulled the plug. I've read about issues with the 2009 27" iMacs and a faulty powercord, but mine is fine as far as I know. Has anyone else had this issue? I wasn't downloading anything at the time, or using any programs that hog the processor; just google chrome and iTunes (with no music playing). I checked to see how hot the computer was, and it was reletively cool as far as it goes. I have apple care but seeing as it has only occured once, I'm not sure if I should rais the issue with them. Thoughts?

    Hello katherine:

I would definitely contact Applecare and indicate what has happened.  Even if it was an anomaly, the contact will document the fact that you had what would normally be a hardware problem.

  • New IMac shuts down with NO warning - can some one help?

Yes, I have a brand new iMac and five more unopened and out of nowhere - it shuts down - no error message, no freezing - just gone...

    Hello FPMS
That kind of sounds like, improperly or not fully seated ram module(s). Try reinstalling them again, pushing with both thumbs real hard.

  • New iMac shuts down but does not start as set in Energy Saver Schedule

Set Energy Saver schedule to shut down at 2300 and it does so at approx 2305. Set schedule to start up at 0700 and it does so the next day but NOT after that (have repeated the exercise 3 times - same result!).

You should not be having "Energy Saver" problems on a new iMac.
Have you tried any of the following?Restarting your computer?
    Doing a PRAM zap?
Since you are still under warranty, strongly suggest that you take full advantage of it by calling Apple tech support.  Especially if you are within 90 days of your warranty and/or have AppleCare.

  • My new iPad3 shuts down for no reason

I am just reading news and switching across apps, and then my iPad switches off.
If I switch it on, I see Apple logo for hours as if the Pad is in sleep mode for ever.
I got my Pad just last week. Used it with IOS 5.1 - I guess thats default OS on a new iPad3 and then switched to IOS6.
Am I experiencing a hardware problem or IOS6 instability?
Please help. This is my first Apple product in Life and I am disappointed that it shuts down on its own. I always have >70% battery.

    Hi Diavonex,
Thanks for answering all my questions.
I need your opinion, though I am going to Visit Apple today.
Are Pad's known to have any hardware problems?
Couple of other things I noticed with my iPad:
    1. Slide to unlock button, does not slide - but it unlocks
    2. At times, I get a flash on my screen when I try to awake the iPad
    3. Is it possible that iPad stores all the commands and execute them after 5 hours (iPad goes to sleep mode and then suddenly wakes up, I am guessing it executed my command to wake after its done with its processing in the background while its stuck with the Apple logo)
