New Nike+ sensor detection problem

Bought my first Nike+ yesterday, did succeed to link the sensor. Did go for a walk to test it, didn’t get any contact. Of and on with the shoe tapping pressing the button and at last contact when holding the sensor in my hand moving it around, put it in the shoe start walking and it looked good but then it after a while the voice asked if I wanted to resume the training, did that a couple of times. Then I stopped the "training" and it had registered 10 meter.
Didn’t succeed to get more contact with the sensor.
Did go to the store today and got it replaced with a new kit. Tested it right away by plug in the receiver and move around the package with the sensor, linked the sensor and got one training activated. Then when home I got problem to connect the sensor, tried several times walking around then tapped and move around the sensor in my hand and got contact, even succeed to get contact with the sensor in the shoe.
I have a old Nano ver 1, the Nano battery is not new but it still hold for several hours music.
My suspicion is that it is old Nike+ kits, didn’t seems to be a big seller in the sports shop where I bought it. I'll guess these battery’s age and get weaker if they have been on the shelf in the store for a year or so.
As I understand it the low battery indicator is based on usage/training time, so if the battery is poor when you buy the sensor there will be no indication before it dies.
It had helped if one could get the date when the sensor was produced by the serial number.
I must say I’m disappointed so far to have to spend all this time trying to make it work.
And BTW why is the excellent stopwatch function with laps separated from the Nike+ thing, as I get it there is no lap function with Nike+.
Going out for a run now to see if it still works, knock on wood.

Well after some disconnecting and connecting of the receiver did I manage to get some action from the sensor, but then it died after 940 meter.
Nike+ have had it’s chance with me I give up and make a run for a refund.

  • Can't calibrate new nike+ sensor

I just bought a new nike+ sensor and need to calibrate it. At the end of my work out, when I hit "end workout" the "calibrate run" button should show up, instead it freezes and my workout goes right into "history" and I can't calibrate it. Super annoyed!

Sorry, I posted it in the wrong place. I already re-posted in the correct nano
version board, but don't know how to delete this post.

  • My iPhone 4S won't recognize my new Nike  sensor!

When I open the Nike App on the iPhone 4s, is just closes immediately.  When I go to settings, it has my information (weight, distance, etc.) highlighted but the "sensor" bar is not.  I tried walking around with the sensor on, but nothing happens.  Any ideas on why or how to make it work?

Same exact issue here. Can't get it to work; 4S and new sensor.
I'll wait to see if it's addressed in iOS 5.1 and if not I'll take the sensor back.

  • Nike+ Sensor won't connect to my iPhone 3GS (3G S)

    Hi Guys,
    I've got a 16gb 3GS and have just bought a new Nike+ sensor from ebay (model A1193).
When I follow the instructions to link it i hear "Walk around to activate your sensor" and see the pulsing blue searching logo, but nothing happens.
I've tried resetting my network settings, rebooting my phone, doing a hard reset (sleep+home button) but nothing seems to work.
I've also put the sensor to sleep (by holding the button in for 3 seconds) then waking it up (by pressing the button once.)
    Any Ideas?

I had the same problem with my sensor and iphone 3gs. It would work for one workout then not for the next. I called Apple and they told me to go into settings, turn off Nike + then back out of settings, then immediatly go back into settings and turn on Nike+ and link sensor with phone. I did this and it worked but then the next day it was off again on again. I finally figured out the problem, which may or may not be your problem. I was putting my iphone onto airplane mode when working out to save battery life, which was told to do in a CNET article on saving iphone battery life. Well I figured that in airplane mode, all ports are turned off, phone, bluetooth, wi-fi and of course the Nike+ sensor. Since I stopped turning on airport mode it has worked every time. Don't know if either of these will work but it worked for me.

  • Use Replacement Nike sensor with old receiver?

I need a new Nike sensor since the battery ran out. I have read on the internet that the receiver (that you plug into your iPod) has flash firmware on it.
If this is actually true, then I am thinking I should get a new complete kit rather than just a new sensor. Is it just a hardware device, or does it also have non-upgradeable software on it -- or is the software entirely on-board the iPod, and therefore upgraded with the iPod firmware? My previous kit is now a few years old by the way.

Yes.  Users have reported slightly better accuracy with the actual external sensor compared to the internal one, but results have varied.

  • Is new software around for Ipod Nano 5G with the Nike sensor and Polar wearlink HeartRateMonitor to get spoken feedback on heartrate-zone, so you get a warning if your heartrate is higher or lower than the predefined range.

    I have:
Ipod Nano 5G with Nike+ sensor and Polar wearlink Heartrate monitor:
works fine, linking is easy, but....
Software is rather minimal: Heartrate is on the screen and you get feedback when the center-button is touched.
To get better results, more functions would be useful, like defining a heartrate zone (like Polar`s own-zone) and automatic spoken feedback if the heartrate is out of the pre-defined range. Also automatic spoken feedback on actual and average heartrate every pre-defined time-interval would be very useful: like the spoken feedback on distance and actual pace I get on my Iphone with Nike+GPS
    Anyone have any suggestions ?

I have the same issue! I purchased a nano 6th, polar hrm so I could run and receive spoken feedback when my heart rate was outside my preset zone.  My suunto t3 used to beep when outside the preset zones.  Automatic, periodic beeps or spoken feedback is the most important information to receive during exercise. I hope apple can update the software to add this simple yet critical feature.

  • My ipod stops or pauses while I am walking...I am using the nike sensor with my Ipod.  Will it pause when I stop walking for a period of time?

I have purchased the nike sensor to use with my Ipod touch.  I tried it on the golf course and it kept pausing after time.. I tried the different ways to work out eg basic, timed, calories...but it kept pausing after a short distance.   Is this because you stop and start with golf?  Is there a setting I can adjust?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Nike sensor shuts itself off

I'm hoping someone can give me some insight on why these things are happening, or if they happen to you too.
    1) I have the sensor attached to my shoe and my Nano on my arm. I set the program to Standard>Playlist>select list>begin running. About four times now, I will get 2.74 miles into my run and the program will terminate itself. I'm a marathon runner who runs at least 5 miles on slow days so when the program shuts off before that, the product does me no good. My pace does not slow, my steps do not change, I don't purposefully touch the iPod for any reason - it just stops. This happens whether I'm running on a treadmill, street, or trail.
Attempts to reset and start again while I'm still running are futile. I'll get another minute into my run and the program will turn off again.
    2) At least three times so far, when I attach my iPod to my computer to load my information, iTunes "cannot find the attached device" and my iPod freezes. I have the most current version of iTunes downloaded, and while my computer is old, this did not happen the first few times I loaded my run data.
If anyone has any advice or has these same issues, I appreciate your response. Otherwise, I may just return the product to the retail store in which it was purchased and will go back to manually calculating my distances.

    Jodi,
I just started having the same problem with my Nano and the Nike receiver. I am training for a marathon and last Saturday, about 12 miles into an 18 mile run, it said "workout complete....". My ipod was in a holder on my arm so nothing touched it. I thought it was odd and then hit the menu to start it up again, and it couldn't find the receiver. I just bought a new nike+ kit (my third one) b/c the sensor keeps dying, and I just bought a new ipod nano about two months ago (my third one as well), so I'm clueless as to what could be wrong. I have ran 4 times since Saturday, and it keeps stating that my workout is complete anywhere from 2 to 3.5 miles into it. I have to pull the receiver out and plug it back in for my ipod to even recognizes it, before I can even start again, just to have it stop (ran 6 miles last night and it stopped 5 times!)
This is super annoying; I mean it's annoying enough to begin with that even with calibration, the distance and pace is off, but now I can't even use it.
If you find anything out with regard to this issue, please let me know. I too, have the most current version of iTunes on my computer, and my computer is only a year old. I do operate with Vista though, but I wouldn't imagine my computer has anything to do with it since it's freezing up on the ipod. It's probably the receiver. Did you recently buy your kit? Could be a bad batch.

  • My ipod touch 4th gen sometimes is unable to locate my nike  sensor.  works fine with an ipod nano.

i got an ipod touch for christmas after using an ipod nano with my nike+ sensor.  after a month or so, the ipod touch was unable to locate my sensor after i pause during my workout.  since the sensor was a little old, i got a new one and it worked for about 2 weeks, then i had the same problem.  tried using my ipod nano and it has no trouble locating the sensor.  what is wrong with the ipod touch?

the first time, settings>nike+ was grayed out and i couldn't turn off the nike+ button.  had to reboot to recover the nike+.  yesterday and today, bluetooth and nike+ are active in settings, however, the sensor can't be located.
i'd rather not reset everytime this happens.  do you think the bluetooth is defective?

  • Pedometer and Nike+ Sensor seriously affects music quality.

I´ve got an iPod Nano 5th Gen 8Gb whit the Nike + iPod Kit, almost in every occasion that I active the PEDOMETER or the NIKE+IPOD link it the played music starts to sounds very ugly.
The music playback sounds in a slower rhythm and like it was a source with a very low bitrate (even thought that it was ripped with the iTunes 9.0.2 in the Apple Lossless Encoder format). It sounds slower and distort.
It has those playback sounds issues ONLY when its linked with the Nike sensor or the pedometer active. Whit so many ads of NIKE an APPLE together how can I have this problem when I am using both of them whit their latest releases?
    iTunes 9.0.2

I could never get it to calibrate. Tried everything. Finally brought it back to the running store where I bought it. The guy went for a run a couple times with it and couldn't get it to work either. He opened a new box and tried it and it worked. I haven't calibrated it for myself yet. Too hot today!!! Will try in the am.

  • Buying Nike+ Sensor and informations.

I have a Ipod touch 2g and im interested in buying the Nike+ Sensor. There are a few questions i would like to ask. Firstly, is there any warranty for the Nike+ Sensor? Secondly, can i place the sensor in a pouch on my shoe or do i have to place it inside my shoe? Thirdly, i have heard from people saying that the sensor cannot be detected by the Ipod touch, what can i do if this happen? Thank you in advance.

I started using the Nike plus kit with my Nano a couple years ago and loved it, so I was so thrilled that the 2nd generation Touch had the receiver already installed. I tried synching it to my sensor, and when it wouldn't synch, I assumed the sensor was bad. I just received the new sensor the other day, tried to synch it, and again, it wouldn't synch. I've been searching this topic to find out if Apple is going to address this issue (which is clearly happening to many people based on the amount of posts on this forum), and I haven't yet found anything from them. I wouldn't bother with the expense of the Nike kit until they work this major bug out.
But in response to your question about where you can put the sensor, real runners know that Nike shoes just don't cut it. I run only in Asics and have for a long time. When I first bought my Nike kit, I purchased a little pouch that attached securely to my shoe (the laces go through it to hold it stable), and I never had any issue with calibration. As long as the sensor is held in place on the shoe, you should have no issues with mileage count. They sell different pouches on Amazon and most of them aren't more than $10.

  • Detection problems in IE?

I discovered last night that the Javascript Flash detection
is no longer working in Internet Explorer on either of my
computers. The script cannot recognize that I have Flash installed.
I'm not sure exactly when it quit working, but I went back and
looked at sites I haven't touched in months that WERE working, and
it doesn't work on any of them now. I recently did a Windows update
on both computers so it's possible something happened, but I
haven't been able to find any info online about any issues. If I
disable Flash detection, everything runs fine, so my Flash
component itself seems to work properly.
On this computer, I have Internet Explorer 6.0.2900... and
the Shockwave Flash object lists file Flash9.ocx. I tried updating
to the most recent version of Flash on my laptop and that didn't
    fix the detection problems.
I'm using the standard script detection from Flash
Professional 8.0. The problem seems to be with the lines:
    set swControl =
    CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash." + CStr(i))
    if (IsObject(swControl)) then
The If statement is returning false for every version. Anyone
have any ideas about what could be causing this?
Edit: Ok, if I change the line above to:
    set swControl = CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash")
Then the IsObject() function returns true. And the line below
    that:
    swVersion = swControl.GetVariable("$version")
seems to return the correct version.
So far, in my testing, this actually seems to work. (Although
I can't be sure if it works on browsers that aren't broken the way
mine seems to be.) So did something happen that suddenly makes IE
not allow you to create the object using the version number? And do
you NEED to use the version number?

Sounds like there may be a problem with your install ..
    perhaps you have two
different play version on your PC (eg you've installed a
    newer version, but
old one didn't fully uninstall itself).
One possible solution (if that is the case) is to run the
    uninstall utility
from Adobe, then search your harddrive for any files matching
    *flash*.ocx ..
and if they are actually flash players (look at properties
    version info tab
to ensure they are macromedia/adobe flash player ocx's -
    don't want to kill
something to do with flash memory (say)) then delete them.
    Also kill off
the c:\windows\system\macromed\flash folder .. so then you
    have no flash
player ocx left. Then go to the Adobe web site and
    re-download/install the
latest Flash Player. NOTE: if you do this, be very careful
    you only delete
things that can safely be deleted without causing problems
    elsewhere.

  • How to program shift register to read only when a new user is detected from user?

    Hi,
I'm currently developing a program for position control in labview. The program is quite simple, whereby user will input the distance that he wants the table to be in the labview program, and labview will send signal to move a motor that will turn a ball screw to move a table horizontally to the targetted position. The criteria is that the profile of the motor depends on the distance it needs to move, whether a two-phase (acceleration and deceleration) or three-phase (acceleration, constant velocity, deceleration) to reach the target position.
The problem occurs when the user wants to enter a new position (second input) for the table, as the input by user is position the table needs to be but the input required to determine which profile the motor follows depends on the distance that the table will move to get to the targetted position. Therefore, I would need a function to store the input by user temporarily, and recall it only when a new input from user is detected. By this, I would be able to use the difference of the input (input [n+1] - input[n]) and feed it to determine which profile the motor follows and the input by user can be kept as the position he wants the table to travel to (to compare with encoder).
I thought of using shift registers to do this, but I am not able to make it to perform the deduction ([n+1] - [n]) only when it detects a new input. When i try using shift register, it travels to the targetted position, and one it reaches it will travel back to the original position. For example, when a user input 90, it means the table needs to move to point 90. As the shift register is initialized to 0, it will move to point 90 (90-0 = 90) but upon reaching 90, the shift register sends a signal of 90 (90-90 = 0) and the table returns to it's initial position.
Is there any way that I can delay the reading of shift register only when a new input is detected or is there another way for me to achieve what i want?
I've tried searching the discussion forum and ni website but couldn't find similar problems. Thanks for your help in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
I've managed to get what I needed by using a shift register + event structure as suggested by Adnan. However, I face another problem after implementing SR+event. I've attached two files, first the original program and second the updated program using SR + event. (it's only the jpg file as I've forgotten to save the labview program, will upload the program by tomorrow.
In the original program, I have an elapsed time that is able to run continuously when I run the program. In the updated program, my elapsed time don't seem to run continuously when I run the program (as shown by elapsed time indicator). I need the elapsed time to run continuously as a input to calculate my motor profile.
I suppose this is caused by the introduction of the event structure, will adding a case structure to wrap the event structure solve the problem or is there another way to get pass this. Appreciate if someone could drop me a pointer or two.
    Thanks

  • Do I Need to Purchase the Nike+ Ipod Sport Kit or Just the Nike Sensor

I'm a newbie to all of this. I am considering purchasing either the new Ipod Nano or the updated Ipod Touch (32). Would I need to purchase the Nike Sensor Kit if I purchase the Ipod touch or just the Nike sensor to insert in the shoe? Thanks in advance to whomever can provide guidance on this issue.

I can speak for a new iPod touch and tell you that you only need the sensor. That's what I have and I love it. I'm really enjoying Nike's website and the history it builds.
From what I understand about the new nano, it has some sort of pedometer built right in so you can get a calculation of steps all by itself. You can also add the nike sensor to get more information on your walk/run, I'm just not certain if its the whole kit you need or just the sensor in that instance.
