New Nikon D4 - Unsupported?

Currently using the windows 7 64 bit version of CS5.1 and have uploaded the Camera Raw 6.7.3.0319 . . .  When attempting to open an image in Photoshop from a new Nikon D4, I get the following error message " can not complete request because the file appears to be a camera that is not supported . . .".  What should I do next?

I assume you mean "downloaded".  Did you do anything besides just save the file on your computer?
Start Photoshop.  In the menus, choose About - Plug-ins... then look at the version of Camera Raw.   Alternatively, look at the top of the Camera Raw window for the version number.

  • "Unsupported image format" with my new Nikon D800E - please help.

I get this message: "unsupported image format" when I try to load photos from my new Nikon D800E. Aperture 2.1.4. Worked fine with old Nikon D300. I can get a thumbnail image in Projects, but that's it. Suggestions, please?!

Maria, the raw support for the Nikon D800E requires Aperture 3, see the technical specifications for the raw support in Aperture:    D800E**,   ** Requires Aperture 3 or later.
Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
You will have to upgrade to Aperture 3, to use the raw images with Aperture or shoot jpeg or use the software that came with your camera to develope the raw.

  • Nikon D300S Unsupported Images

Just purchased the new Nikon D300s and on attempting to load images (.Nef Files Camera Raw Format ) aperture tells me the its an unsupported image - I have a Nikon D200 and its no problem with .Nef Files/
    Any ideas folks?

That's really not accurate at all, since there are many programs that can do RAW conversion without any special support from the OS. Lightroom can convert D300s nefs, as can capture nx2, and several others, all on Leopard or Snow Leopard OS. The fact that Apple usually (but not always) adds new cameras to its RAW support through an OS update doesn't make it an OS function -- sometimes they've had camera raw updates all by themselves. When they do add in raw support for a new camera, their raw support applies all of Apple's programs. But then, when Adobe adds a new camera to its RAW support, that support flows through to all the Adobe programs, like Bridge, Photoshop, Elements, Lightroom, etc. In any event, it's certainly no excuse at all to say that it's harder for Apple to add in a new camera because it's "OS level" while every other developer can add it in much faster. Perhaps a better excuse is that they want to get it right, but that's no comfort to those waiting months or even years (Leica DLUX4/Panasonic LX3) for raw support.
On another note, Aperture is hailed as a pro photographer's tool. But pros today often buy new high-end cameras, and this makes it difficult to stick with Aperture as your pro tool when you have no idea when your RAW files will be supported. Nikon's new D3s is out now, pros and amateures are buying them, and none can use Aperture for the raw files. And who knows when Apple will support it.
    Just my two cents.

  • Nikon D3000 - Unsupported Image Format

    Hi -
It looks like Aperture is not working with the new Nikon D3000 raw format. I am able to see the thumbnails but when I try to view the larger picture, I get an unsupported image format error. Anyone else having this problem?
** Snow Leopard and Aperture 2.1.4**

Tell me about it. I am a professional photographer who has been working with Nikon and Aperture for a little while now in our portrait work. We have two d300's and a d700 which all work fine. Just picked up Nikon's new D300s for some on location portraits and it isn't supported. I wonder how long it'll be before apple releases their update.

I have Photoshop CS5.1 (bought in 2011). The photoshop Camera Raw plug-in is not recognizing the format of my new Nikon D610. I updated the version of my Camera Raw plug in and am still getting this message when trying to open images in photoshop. Please help.

This link shows that ACR 8.3 supports the Nikon D610 and 6.7.1 was the final version for CS5.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
So you can upgrade to CS6 and ACR 8.7.1
or using the DNG converter, convert your Nikon raw files to dng format to open in CS5.
Here is the download link: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
or Windows: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
And here is a great video tutorial on how to use the converter.

  • Cannot open my NEF files in Photoshop CS6 from my new Nikon D800 camera.

That's it, I Cannot open my NEF files in Photoshop CS6 Camera Raw from my new Nikon D800 camera. What am I doing wrong or what is wrong? I have the plug-in Camera Raw 7. and can open TIFF files but not the NEF files.
    Peace,
    Charles Fennen

    Hi ssprengel,
to explain the scenario, i am basically a D7000 user and I do post production with Windows computer. But for an assignment I have hired D800, they have provided me their SD memory card. I have used the same memory card while shooting.
I have transferred the NEF files from the camera using Nikon software. The transfer was successful but i am not able to open the Raw NEF file with ACR. Even my plugins are updated till date.
The NEF thumbnails are having small lock logo in the bottom left corner. I do not know what does that mean. Like this.
Kindly let me know what would be the prob? if my RAW files are corrupted kindly let me know how will I recover them?
    Thank you.

Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download.  8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page.  I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10.  Please can you tell me my options?  Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application.  What should I do?  How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750.  Many thanks, Adam.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

  • New Nikon Df camera RAW files not recognized in Bridge and Photoshop.

New Nikon Df camera RAW files not recognized in Bridge and Photoshop.  Is there a fix?  Surely Adobe make a mistake and not keep up with Nikon.

I looked at the current list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html and did not see the Nikon DF listed.
Would post in ACR forum and see if they know anything more.  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw

  • RAW (NEF) photos from my new Nikon D750 will not open with Photoshop Elements11 Camera RAW.

RAW (NEF) photos from my new Nikon D750 will not open in Camera RAS with Photoshop Elements 11. This has not been a problem with previous Nikon cameras. I'm using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.5. How can I solve this problem?  Thanks.

Aside from upgrading to pse 13, you can use the 8.7.1 adobe dng converter to convert the files to dng copies, which pse 11 should then open.

Raw files from the new Nikon D810 will not open with either Photoshop CS5.1 or Lightroom 4.  When will a real Adobe solution be available to work with Raw (NEF) files in their native format, using CS5.1 and LR4?

Clarification: this is a user forum; you are not addressing Adobe here.
The answer to your question as phrased is: never.
CS5 is history and it is not longer supported.  There will not be any updates or bug fixes for CS5.
You need to convert the raw NEF files from your D810 to raw DNGs using the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 RC (beta), the first version ever to support that camera..

  • Error opening New Nikon D300 RAW files on Iphoto and Preview

    hi,
I've a new Nikon D300 and I've had problems when i try to import the RAW (.NEF) photos to my iphoto... it says that the file is unreadable either on Iphoto or Preview or even on Apple Aperture. How can i solve this problem? is there any update that i can do for that or Apple didn't upgrade the iPhoto yet? I l know the camera can take 14-bit Raw format photos but i'm not sure if it is taking them in 12-bit because it can take both. I have a Nikon D200 too and i've never had any problem uploading my Raw photos to iphoto. the only program that opens the photos yet is Photoshop CS3.
    hope, someone can help me.
    Many Thanks:
    Gonçalo Rendeiro

hope this 10.5.2 solved the problem

  • Why won't the raw files from my new Nikon D810 open in ACR?

I just shot a newborn session on my brand new Nikon D810 and my RAW files will not open in ACR or CC or PSE. Everything is up to date. This is my first time using the new camera and the photos are for a paying client. Am I screwed until the new ACR updates are released? Or is there some magic fix until then? I'm panicking!

Every new camera comes with its own specific Raw file format and Adobe must add support to Camera Raw for each individual camera released on the market. There's often a time lag between the camera shipping and Raw support being added to Camera Raw.
Lots of D810s are now in circulation (dozens of D810 Raw support requests have popped up in these forums recently) and Raw support from Adobe is imminent but not yet final.
D810 support has just been added to the yet-to-be-released Camera Raw 8.6.
Adobe has made the Release Candidate version (a kind of post-beta, pre release) available for further testing prior to final release.
Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 Beta - Adobe Labs
Install manually but use at your own risk until final release.

  • Mac OS 10.9.4 cannot open the NEF/RAW files from the new Nikon D810 Camera

I have a new Nikon D810 camera. My new iMac cannot open the NEF/RAW files from it...Anyone have any knowledge of this?

If you will take the time to send Apple feedback, they will add RAW support - when I got my Canon, it wasn't supported either. I filed feedback and, two months, later, there was an update which included my camera model.

  • Does Elements 9 Support  New Nikon D7000?

Any News on whether the new Elements 9 software will support the new Nikon D7000?.  I see where it does support Nikon's NEF Raw Format but can find nothing about Supporting the Nikon D7000 due to be released to stores the middle of October.

    Help!
I have the new Nikon D7000 and don't want to have to use the Adobe DNG Converter program for every RAW ("NEF") file I shoot.
Q1:  If I buy Adobe PSElements9, and I download the 6.3 Camera Raw plug-in, will I be able to open PSEditor and, using the "Open As" choice on the file menu of the PSEditor, go directly to Camera Raw mode? Or, will I continue to be required to use this more recent CR plug-in-- 6.3-- outside of PSE, then re-open the converted files in Editor?
Q2:  Does PSE10 exist, and, if so, has it addressed this Nikon d7000- camera raw compatibiltity issue?
TIA a quick reply.  I'm going crazy here!
