New Nikon D7200 Raw Pics Won't Import

My new Nikon D7200 arrived yesterday and I'm very excited, the only problem is Lightroom isn't recognizing the raw files and I'm getting an error 32.  Any suggestions (besides shooting in jpg)
Thanks!

Hey, guys
I posted a question on Adobe's Facebook page today asking about our problem with this brand new 7200 and no RAW or DNG converter support. Now I know it's FB and all but these companies take their presence on social media pretty seriously I think. I did get a pretty quick response and was told that the camera is on the list for support and that it's only a matter of time. So good news there. We all kind of knew that anyhow but it was good to hear it from what is supposed to be the source. If only I knew who really answered. Anyhow...In my particular situation I am also using a stand alone (downloaded from Adobe) version of CS6. So no subscription service in my case. I've heard CS6 might not receive further support but was told today that there was native support (is how he put it I believe) for CS6 and that the 7200 would eventually receive the proper support to work in my particular issue of the software. Again - very glad to hear that. So it seems as if it all is just a matter of time. In the meantime here is how I've worked around the issue to take the most advantage from my software as possible given the situation:
I use Nikon's Capture NX-D which I downloaded for free from Nikon's site. Easy install and reads the 7200's RAW files just fine. It's a bit clunkier to me than CameraRAW but that could just be a learning curve/familiarity issue more than anything. Capture seems to do an okay job of processing the RAW files and most of the familiar tools are there but honestly I've done very little RAW editing with the software. Instead what I do is make sure the image is not too far off in any particular direction but is instead fairly well exposed. If not perfectly, right? From there I use the NX-D to convert the RAW file to a TIF as has been suggested. Then I open Adobe Bridge CS6 and point it at the folder containing these newly created TIFs. Once they are up on the board I right click on the one I want to work with and instruct the software to 'open in CameraRAW' and viola! My TIF is now open in RAW and I can use all the tools as if I were working with a DNG or NEF. Once to this point the workflow goes back to normal.
Hope this helps whoever needs it.

  • Camera-raw plugin for NEF files, made with the new Nikon D7200

Hi, does anyone know when there will be a camera-raw plugin for NEF files made with the new Nikon D7200?

I think that camera is too new. Even the DNG converter will not support it. If you have Nikon software with the camera, you could convert to tiff and then use the tiff files in Elements whilst awaiting the next Camera Raw update for PSE13.

  • Where is support for the new Nikon D7200 DSLR Camera

I've had the New Nikon D7200 about three weeks Now And apple has laid down on the job and update the Raw support list for the D7200. iPhotos would even recognize the pictures taken period. Now Photos the so called replacement will download I guess what you call Thumbnail version But when click on edit a window with a Triangle and Exclamation Point. Apple should have come out with an update at least two weeks ago.

If you are trying to use Camera Raw with Lightroom, that won't work. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in. The D810 is supported in Camera Raw 8.6 release candidate and the DNG converter 8.6 release candidate. That should indicate that it will probably be supported in the next release of Lightroom. In the meantime you could try downloading the DNG converter 8.6 RC and convert your raw images to the DNG format. Adobe has not announced when Lightroom 5.6 will be available.

  • Iphoto and Nikon D7200 RAW (NEF)

    Hello all,
I just bought the new Nikon D7200. I shot some photo's and wanted to download them into Iphoto. Iphoto does not recocnize the NEF (RAW) files.
Is this because the camera is too new? and isn't supported yet?
If so does anyone know when an update is coming out?
I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and Iphoto 9.6.1
    love to hear from you

It's too new. No one outside of Apple knows when (or even if) any updates may be issued.

  • Camera raw does not support my new Nikon D7200? When is it updated?

II have bougth a Nikon D7200 and Camera Raw does not support it.  How to solve this problem, or is a new update coming?

It seems quite likely that after the next update Camera Raw will be able to process that format but do not expect an announcement for a release date.
If you don’t want to use Nikon’s proprietary software and prefer ACR please petition the camera maker to allow shooting DNG.

  • Error opening New Nikon D300 RAW files on Iphoto and Preview

    hi,
I've a new Nikon D300 and I've had problems when i try to import the RAW (.NEF) photos to my iphoto... it says that the file is unreadable either on Iphoto or Preview or even on Apple Aperture. How can i solve this problem? is there any update that i can do for that or Apple didn't upgrade the iPhoto yet? I l know the camera can take 14-bit Raw format photos but i'm not sure if it is taking them in 12-bit because it can take both. I have a Nikon D200 too and i've never had any problem uploading my Raw photos to iphoto. the only program that opens the photos yet is Photoshop CS3.
    hope, someone can help me.
    Many Thanks:
    Gonçalo Rendeiro

hope this 10.5.2 solved the problem

  • Raw files won't import when shot in raw+jpg

I just shot in raw+jpg for the first time. Lightroom 4 won't import the raw file but will import the jpg. It says something like "lightroom doesn't support this raw file format". I don't get it though because if I shoot in just raw it will import fine.

If your camera is supported by current version of Lightroom, then the raw file(s) should import.
So, is Canon EOS Rebel XS 1000D supported by Lr4.3? If so, it should go (assuming you've got 4.3 installed), if no go, a bug report should be submitted, promptly, at:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new
If not, consider a feature request ('Idea', for camera support) using same link.

  • Wann kann ich endlich die Nikon D7200 Raw´s nutzen.

Habe die neue Nikon D7200 seit dem 21.03 und warte und warte seit dem. Wann möchte Adobe endlich den konverter updaten?

There is no known date when Adobe software will read the RAW (NEF) images from this camera.
Adobe does not announce release dates in advance.
You will just have to wait until the announcement is made.

Supported from LR 3.3, so update LR if you are still using LR 3.0.

  • Sony A77 Raw Files Won't Import Without Crashing

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion on my 15" Macbook Pro Mid 2010, iPhoto crashes when I try to import. So far I have reinstalled Mac OS X 4 times and iLife (after deleting everything) once. This is from the crash log "*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[__NSArrayI removeAllObjects]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1eef4b70'." I have no idea how to fix this.

Also everything on my computer is up-to-date.
Is anyone else having this problem with the Sony Alpha 77 (A77) and its Raw files?

    OT:  Sony DSLR talk.
Your response indicates you took my comment as a challenge to your decision.  It wasn't.  I own both.  The a900 has the biggest, brightest viewfinder ever put on a camera.  It's worth experiencing sometime.  Michael Reichman reports (discussing the Nikon D800/e):
    Optical Viewfinder
There has been so much attention paid to the latest generation of mirrorless cameras and their electronic viewfinders that it's worth mentioning that as good as they are, a full-frame optical viewfinder through a large glass prism is still the gold standard. I discussed this with an illustrative example in my recent Sony NEX-7 Six Months On Report.
But, having said that (as Seinfield was wont to say), this isn't the biggest and the brightest OVF on the market. A Sony A900, for example, is much brighter. Not that the D800/E is poor in this regard, it just isn't brilliant (literally and figuratively).

  • Panasonic RAW files won't import into Aperture 3

I've just upgraded from Aperture 2 to 3, mainly to start using the RAW format with my camera, a Panasonic GH2. The Apple support page clearly states that Aperture 3 supports the RAW format for this camera while the version 2 does not.
Today I've loaded Aperture and fired a few test shots, some in jpeg and some in RAW. When I connected the camera to my Mac the shots seem to have loaded but only the ones in jpeg format are visible. The RAW files are represented in the browser by blank squares; when I click on them each one states 'Unsupported Image Format'
Do I need to change something in the import settings in order to load RAW files to Aperture 3, something which doesn't apply to jpegs? Or does Aperture 3 simply not support the format for my camera, despite what is stated on the Apple support pages.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Problem sorted. I updated all my software and the RAW files now load correctly.
