New Nikon Df camera RAW files not recognized in Bridge and Photoshop.
New Nikon Df camera RAW files not recognized in Bridge and Photoshop. Is there a fix? Surely Adobe make a mistake and not keep up with Nikon.
I looked at the current list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html and did not see the Nikon DF listed.
Would post in ACR forum and see if they know anything more. http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw

Camera RAW, file not recognized after import and migration, Aperture 2.1
Hi,
I have recently purchased a 1DMKIII and am constantly getting "file not recognized" after I import and even after migrating RAW files. My 1DS MK1 RAW files have no issues. The RAW files render just fine using CS4 bridge. Any ideas here on a fix? Other than ditching Aperture (not desireable)
Thanks,
GregHummmm..I have just 'manned-up' from a 2gb macbook running tiger+CS4 to a iMac 24" 8gb running leopard BUT!
I shoot RAW and the iMac will not recognize the NEF RAW files! this is soo frustrating - tried to update Camera Raw but to no avail.
please help! I've got 987 raw wedding photos to process!!
I dont know what to do! -
Camera raw changes color in adobe bridge and photoshop
Hi all, I am quite new to use RAW. I have raw files that I want to edit. Unfortunately, the moment I click on the raw files, the color changes.
Is there anything I should do to the color setting?
I am using a canon 20d and Adobe Photoshop, Bridge CS 3 and Adobe Camere Raw 4.0The image is indeed rife with red color.
The fact that the embedded JPEG isn't quite as oversaturated with red as Adobe's conversion with the lowest color temperature of 2000 just says that Canon's conversions have more range at the low-end of the color temperature setting.
This is the color from the embedded JPEG. Clearly it's dominated by a reddish-orange color, though not as red as that from Adobe's software.
This is the color from Adobe Camera Raw's conversion at the (low-end minimum) color temperature of 2000:
This is the photo converted with Canon DPP using "click white balance" on the bridge beam on the left:
Note, however, that (though the dropper seems to have incredible range) DPP does not allow you to specifically SET a color temperature lower than 2500K, which yields this color:
The bottom line here is that the "Click White Balance" function in Canon's DPP has far more range than ACR, where even the white balance dropper "mins out" at 2000K.
That's something the Adobe folks may want to look into, to extend the range of ACR's capabilities to suit this kind of IR photography.

Nikon D2X NEF Raw file not recognized anymore...??
Strange happenings...
My projects which contain new and older .NEF friles from the nikon D2X are no longer readable by Aperture - What gives?
I had been able to work them before, but not now... Haven;t used AA in a few weeks so not sure if the 10.4.5 update or some other component has gotten in the way or what... All software is up to date so if anyone has any clues, please feel free to let me know!
Cheers,
G.
Quad G5 Mac OS X (10.4.5)Even Stranger...
The problem appears to be gone...!
I loaded some new NEF test files to determine if the naming or IPTC info was potentially the problem - and it worked fine.
Then, I went to the libraries that were problematic yesterday, and I watched as unreadable grey squares, one by one, became visible and active again... Bizarre.
The machine wasn't even restarted ( it did have an overnite nap though...), the only thing that happened was that Aperture was shut down yesterday, and then reopened today, which I'm reasonably certain that I did yesterday as well.
I was going to run a permissions repair, but didn't need to, so that wasn;t it... I guess the program still has some instability that opening / closing seems to eventually address.
Solved? Not really, but working for now I guess...
Thanks for the input
Craig

I have PSE11 and the latest Camera Raw files (v. 7.30) and still I can't open RAW/NEF files. The DNG Converter doesn't convert either.
What have I missed?
Any help greatfully received!
Cheers
BrucePerhaps you are using Nikon Transfer v 1.x, which corrupts raw files of the newest Nikon cameras as far as Adobe software is concerned. You need to either not use Nikon Transfer at all or use V2.x that is part of ViewNX2.
A way to test whether it is your Adobe software or your camera’s files that are the problem, is to download a test D600 NEF from the internet and if it works, then it’s your camera’s images or the transfer to your computer, not Adobe software.
For example: http://movies.dpreview.com.s3.amazonaws.com/nikon_d600/DSC_4509_03.NEF.zip
From this page: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikon-d600/21
You can fix NT1 corrupted files with the following utility:

How do you get Nikon D600 camera raw files to download INTO Apeture 3 ?
The D600 is a new camera. There should be an update in the near future to accommodate it.

Why does photoshop 12 editor open my Nikon D90 Camera RAW files only as jpegs???
Why does photoshop 12 editor open my Nikon D90 Camera RAW files only as jpegs???
Hi,
Which operating system are you running on?
What makes you think that the raw files are being opened as JPGs?
Do you shoot RAW+JPG and opening the JPG files bt mistake?
If you are opening a RAW (NEF) file and it doesn't show the Camera Raw screen but goes straight into the editor then it may be that your screen resolution is too low.
What is your screen resolution?

.RAF files not recognized in bridge but PS ok. Patch 7.1 installed.
.RAF files not recognized in bridge but PS ok. Patch 7.1 installed. Anyone know the fix?
To me it seems related to your Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) converter. Clue inhere is you only miss the Raw files and have no problems in seeing other formats like jpeg and tiff.
The screenshot you delivered is from the wrong library, however, this same library (the one on system level) also is the location where you should be able to view the correct version of your ACR plugin. The path: library (same as per your screenshot)/Application support/ Adobe/ Plug ins/ CS6/ File Formats. inhere should be only one version of Camera Raw (called: "Camera Raw.plugin") and this should show version 8.3 (141).
I'm not sure about your bridge version number, Bridge 5 comes with PSCS6 but my most recent version of Bridge is 5.0.2.4.
Anyway, if you have only one ACR (8.3) installed in the above mentioned path then you might want to try to delete the Bridge plist file and Bridge cache file manually.
For this you have to Quit Bridge and find the user library (by default hidden, use menu Go in Finder and press option key to reveal).
Inhere find the plist file (user(your user name) / library / Preferences and inhere find and manually delete the file called: "com.adobe.bridge5.plist"
The in same user library find Bridge Cache. User/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6. Inhere are 2 files, the adobe Bridge plug in cache and the folder called Cache. delete (or move outside libray) both items.
The restart Bridge (If needed also again hold option key to reset preferences) and this will create fresh files for the previous deleted items, leaving you with an almost out of the box factory set version of Bridge. -
when I go to add my raw files like I always have it said that it can not read these raw files. I called Nikon an was told that the raw files in the D810 are the same as the D800. Something is up.
Re: D810/Lightroom5 importing Raw files
The raw files are not the same as the D810 has a different sensor than the D800. The file layout might be the same but that doesn't mean any software that supports the D800 will support the D810. Adobe has to profile the new camera and add calibration profiles and then release an update to Lightroom. ACR 8.6 RC supports the D810, so LR 5.6 will probably support the D810 too. For now, you could convert the nef files to dng using the dng converter that comes with ACR 8.6: Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 RC for CC and CC 2014 Release Candidate | digital camera raw file support - Adobe Labs -
Camera Raw Plugin "Not Recognized File Type"
It was suggested that I post this here...
I'm trying to install the camera raw update for the Canon Rebel XS in CS4.
I downloaded the newest RAW update, and the files still didn't work, and then when I went back and downloaded the camera-specific update, I get a plugin and photoshop says that "Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
Any ideas? You should always run the latest version of the Adobe Camera Raw for the particular version of Photoshop you are using.
In your case that means ACR 5.7, which is the last to run with CS4.
There's no such thing as a "camera specific version" of Camera Raw. Once a camera is supported by a specific version of ACR, it will always continue to be supported in all subsequent versions of ACR. You need to run the latest version because each update contains unannounced enhancements and bug fixes.
There will not be any further updates of ACR for CS4, so you must use ACR 5.7.
Note that ACR 6.1 will not work with CS4. The 6.x series of ACR requires CS5.
The error message you describe—"Photoshop does not recognize this type of file"—is returned by Photoshop when you attempt to open the plug-in by double-clicking on it instead of installing it. It is NOT meant to be opened, it's meant to be installed in a specific folder. Read the instructions. As a matter of fact, try updating through the auto updater in the Help menu of Photoshop or Bridge: Help > Updates…
Only if that doesn't work should you perform a manual installation of ACR according to the instructions.

RAW files not recognized?
I recently purchased the Nikon D7200 and I took a few photos with it the other day. I ALWAYS shoot in RAW and upon trying to upload them, LR wouldn't recognize the files. I suspected that the software may need to be updated, so I did. Currently using 5.7 now and it still won't recognize them. Any ideas how to solve this problem? I don't see why there is an issue.
Lightroom 5.7 and 5.71 (the latest release) were both released prior to the introduction of the D7200. At this time there is no Adobe support for the camera. Nobody here in the forum knows when that support will be provided. Yes, it's unfair to you. But Adobe just recently released a new version of Camera Raw and the DNG converter, neither of which support the camera because it is too new. Support is forthcoming, but the only answer that counts is that you will have to wait and see when the support is provided.

Thank you for your help I have already downloaded ACR 8.7 and tried to download DNG converter will have to back track on this as didnt recognise the file when I downloaded it. is the problem now that I need to change my files to DNG from NEF files before opening in photoshop?
Please be patient as I seem to have got the jist of the problem but not sure the converter is on my computer what should I be looking for? -
I've installed bridge and they don't open in that. I cleaned up my programs and removed a bunch of unnecessary junk, could I have removed something I needed? The camera raw files are CR2 from a Canon D6.
I've spent far too much time trying to figure this out, so any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks! Thanks, Barbara, that did the trick! I deleted the old file rather than renaming it. I was in fact trying to install 5.6.
Cheers,
Marcos
