New Nokia C6 dead .... 3 days after purchse

I am from Kolkata in India and on 01.05.2011 I had purchased a Nokia C6 the IMEI no. is from South City Mall's Shopper Stop Nokia mobile counter. The phone started giving problems from day 3 but since I was traveling for 16 days I was unable to get it to the same shop. Today on 18th May when I went they told the phone will be sent to service centre and will be returned to me after 25 days. And that too after very rude behaviour of the salesperson. This is ridiculous.
So, I paid for a phone from the Nokia stable and I am unable to use it for more than a month as Nokia would do research on the handset. I have always purchased Nokia handset and ever since mobile services where launched in India. This is the worst experience did not expect this from Nokia. Very bad after sales service.
The problems with the C6 handsets are : software hanging, touch does not work and keyboard not functioning.

Sorry to hear that, even i am facing the same problem with Nokia Care Center.
Display issue with Nokia C7, i have given it for the second time to Nokia Care.
If this time its not going to get fixed.  I will file case with consumer Court.

    Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and explain what happend and be nice. Although a broken screen is not covered by the warranty, sometimes the Genius will exchange it at no cost, especially for a new one.

    I recieved the new Nokia N900 as an upgrade. It crashed few time opening emails, however restarted automatically. Later on it crashed on ovi map (pre installed). I tried rebooting after taking the taking the battery out and putting it back in - no joy! I tried startgin without the sim card -still the same problem - it starts with the Nokia banner and then 5 flashing dots... that's it.
    I have used Nokia for over 10 years, I never experienced this from Nokia.
    I think N900 is still 'Work in Progress', am not sure if it is fully tested yet!!

    This is a known problem.. And I'll be brief here since there are lots of posts about it..
    A bug in the firmware causes some devices to reboot.. Your's is an unluck one.. There is a permanent fix in an up and coming firmware release (not the one released today.. but soon) but in the mean time we have a work around..
    you have two problems.. first getting your device booting..
    Each time your device randomly rebooted itself, it increased a counter.. when this counter reached its upper limit (17 reboots) the device will STOP booting.. as yours has.. To reset this limit you need to manually restart your phone.. use the power button to turn it off.. use the power button to turn it on and the counter goes back to zero.. 
    problem is, your device has already reached the limit so we need to trick it into going back to zero..
    The easiest option may not work for you.. but it is fairly simple..
    Take the battery out.. plug your phone into your computer.. put the battery back in.. allow the phone to boot..
    If that doesn't work, you'll need to use the longer process detailed in the link above.. Read the first post carefully and see the section:
    REPAIRING A DEVICE THAT NO LONGER BOOTS
    If your device won't boot and won't respond to flasher.. the battery could be flat.. you MUST charge the battery to get your device booting. To do this you'll need to find someone with a Nokia N900, 5800 or 5230 handset since they all use the same battery.. If you device won't boot, it won't charge.. 
    Ok, assuming these instructions have helped your device boot, you need to implement the patch to stop it rebooting.. 
    Open this URL in your phone

    Click and INSTALL the first link.. when you click the first link select open..you'll be taken to app manager and you must proceed with the install
    Go back to the browser and click and SAVE the second link.. Save the file in the documents folder of your device..
    now, open an Xterminal and type these two commands exactly.. remember they are case sensative:
    sudo gainroot
    sh MyDocs/.documents/fixpm.sh enable
    Reboot your device once more and you should hopefully have a happy N900!

    I have bring the phone to shop as I faced same problem (Nokia C7 Dead after turn off, never turn on) and they sent device to nokia care center. I got the new cell phone as it was in guarantee/warantee period(I am appriciating the service/help provided from Nokia side, Thanks a lot). On the same day I took that new cell to home and faced same problem again. The phone is not getting switched ON . I am disconnected from world for last 2-3 weeks as the same issue occurs twice.  This is very opposite to Nokia's statement "Connecting people". Any help From Nokia?????

    1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
    2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.

    Did you have the phone set to backup things to the One Drive on Microsoft servers?

    You can try putting it into Disk Mode

    If that works, you can see if the computer will recognize it when connected, either in iTunes or by the system.
    NOTE:  You can also try putting it into Disk Mode WHILE it is already connected to the computer.
    If the iPod is recognized, you may be able to use one of the third-party methods or utilities to transfer song files from iPod to computer.  You can do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer" to get some links (add "mac" to the search if your computer is a Mac).
    Once the song files are on your computer, add them to that computer's iTunes library, then sync it to the new iPod.

    Download the full version of the software then shift click the restore button. This will ask you where the firmware files are. Once you point to the firmware then you can install the official version

    This seems to an ongoing issue (see related discussion link).  We've been experiencing the same update lag since last Friday.  The new additions to the Collection appear and are accessible in both the iPad and iPhone applications, but even though they additions appear in "Quick View", the material doesn't appear in the Collection itself.  Apple is aware of the issue and is investigating.  All the best...

    Dear Nokia friends,
    I am in Lisbon, Portugal, and since last week I am a new Nokia customer, when my son and daughter offered me a beautiful NOKIA N95.
    I have used it for 2 days, with great satisfaction!
    But, on Saturday, following the Nokia recommendation to do the firmware update, I decided to do it, before adding new personal data to the phone. So I would avoid backups and restores, eventually lost of data. Four years ago I did a firmware update with my brand new Palm T3 PDA and till today everything is ok.
    The battery was fully charged and everything done just like Nokia says in the site and manual. It took about one hour downloading the 113 MB software, then about five minutes updating (the phone with white screen and the Nokia logo) and then I got the PC screen stating: "PC connection to Phone was lost".
    The phone screen turned black and I tried to follow the screen instructions, but without success.
    I am a business man and senior consultant with important responsibilities in the Marketing, Education and Project Management areas in Portugal, and you can imagine the difficulties and frustration I have had, as I planned this week a very important presentation which includes the benefits for students, teachers and parents in using such a device as a Nokia N95 in many of their current activities in school and/or in family.
    On 12.06.2007 I was at Lisbon's Nokia Care Center. Talking with the manager, Mr Carlos Martins, he told me that they would keep the phone for diagnostics (no matter the time) and that the service should be paid.
    I explained that it was not my fault – I only accepted Nokia’s recommendation and followed strictly the procedures that Nokia advises in its support site and manual.
    Then, to my surprise, I got such answer: “You have another way to resolve your problem: you can go the ‘Centro de Arbitragem de Consumo’, a kind of a small Consumer Court, to issue a claim against Nokia”.
    With such a great opportunity to win a very satisfied Customer, your services, in Portugal, can only show the negative attitude mentioned above! Is your Care Centre, in Lisbon, really caring for your Clients?
    If you were the Client would you be satisfied?
    I think that the Lisbon Care Center is showing some lack of kindness and respect for Clients.
    These are the reasons by which I send you this letter, asking for your help. For example, telling (or forwarding this message to) someone important in NOKIA GROUP. I have already sent the log of the update process to NOKIA Finland.

    The reason that the official software update crashes and screws your world up is because Nokia want you to spend your hard earned monies on a "shiny new product".
    This problem has happened to me a few months ago now but hopefully i can shed some light upon this gloomy subject.
    Basically there is no easy fix and the phone needs to be re-flashed...
    When the update was running and abruptly stopped it was updating files in the phones (for lack of a better word) BIOS
    thus without these files being present the phone is how it was when it first rolled off the production line.... ready for flashing by an operative.... its dead, useless, unsightly and who would want a very expensive paperweight thats meant to have functions but doesn't??
    The only way to fix is to contact a care centre (which are quite frustrating to talk to via email due to it being like a game of chinese whispers whilst you are bounced back and forth through different departments and line managers) or by spending a pretty penny on a peice of kit (for FLASHING mobile phones) called JAFBOX (with additional extras) and re-flashing the phone yourself.... but i recommend visiting local shops that specialise in unlocking as its the same kind of principal and they would have the necessary software / hardware for the cause... or they would in a perfect, non capitalistic world! 
    im in the market for a new phone now either way =( and for once it might not be a NOKIA after the current fiasco!!!!
    NOTE:-
    THE MANUAL RESET(s) WILL ONLY WORK IF IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE PHONES "BIOS"
    you can tell if the phone needs flashing by one simple test,
    turn the phone on,
    if there is a nokia logo and no backlight and the phone progresses no further (i.e. you don't ever get to the "handshake" logo) then it most likely needs re-flashing

  • HELP - My new Nokia Lumia 620 won't boot up, even ...

    I'm worried my Nokia Lumia 620 is a lemon, and the Care Centre will just keep taking it in for repair.  The reliability so far has been disappointing, especially as I was giving Nokia a try after a 10 year break, and also trying out Windows Mobile / Phone after a 6 year break.  I want to recommend it - I'm continually being asked by friends and colleagues what I think of my new phone.   Nokia will be smart to just replace it.      
    The details: my Nokia Lumia 620 won't boot up today (again).  It hung on boot  this morning with the Nokia Logo.  That was over 2 hours ago.  It had this problem during February, and I returned it twice for repair to the local Nokia Care Centre.  I guess I'll take it in again later today, but it just feels like a lemon handset so far.
    Timeline:
    Handset purchased in local Nokia Store on Jan 29 2013 ( 7 weeks ago)
    Handset gave "Exclamation-Mark-Screen-of-Death" on Feb 19 2013 (3 weeks old handset)
    Local Nokia Store sent me to local Nokia Care Centre, handed in overnight "for repair"
    Phone returned on Feb-20-2013 after software refresh. 
    Worked fine for 1 week.   Problem returned Feb 26 2013. (4 week old handset)
    Nokia Care Centre "replaced motherboard" on Feb 27 2013. 
    Has worked fine for 3 weeks.   Now Lumia 620 won't boot this morning - no Exclamation Mark, instead it's the Nokia Logo on boot.  
    The handset is 7 weeks old.
    Hard reset (side-button-combination) hasn't worked either.  
    Any advice on getting this working, repaired or replaced?

       Update on the repair - it didn't work.   I returned the phone to the Yau Ma Tei Nokia Care Centre on March 20th, and was given what was termed a 'replacement' phone.   I was pretty happy.  All was well.  But two days later when I tried to make a phone call using my headphones, I noticed that only the left audio channel was working through the earphones.   I tried a second pair of earphones and the same problem.    The audio was only working through the left channel.  On a new phone.  How strange.  
    So was it really new?   My suspicion is that the repair centre has used old returned parts (parts they perhaps term as refurbished) - so in fact my replacement phone is my old phone assembled with old and refurbished parts.   Was it in fact a refurbished phone assembled from refurbished parts?   Frustrating when they tell me it's a replacement phone.  
    That was back in late March.  I posted a couple of tweets and Nokia responded.  They even phoned me to try and help.  However no offer of a new phone.  All they suggested was that I revisit the Nokia Service Centre.   For a 4th time.   
    That was about 6 weeks ago, and I simply haven't made the time to go to the Service Centre again.   It's hard to find the time when my last 3 visits have been so unsuccessful.
     Sometimes you just get a lemon.   It happened to me once before with a different manufacturer when I was on a contract and had to live with a phone for 2 years that kept cutting out during calls.   Same problem - the manufacturer attempted to repair it, but it just never worked properly.   That was 10 years ago.  Now it's happening with my new Nokia.  Luckily I'm not on contract this time.  I've read good reviews for the Lumia 620, and overall it's a pretty decent handset in every other way.  
    But the issues this particular handset has been plagued with has overshadowed any positive feelings I have been having.   I'll probably be cutting my losses and changing handsets in the summer.

When I lock the keypad on my phone, the phone locks itself and no amount of pressing and holding any button will revive it. This happens randomly. I have to remove and replace the battery. This happens around 6-7 times a day. I have tried to reset the phone, but it still got the problem.
    Does anyone have ANY help to offer?

    Same here..Bought Nokia C6-00 on the 8th of October. It keeps on hanging when I lock or unlock the touchscreen. t\This is the first time Nokia has disappointed me. After reading all these discussions it seems like this model itself is problematic.

    That depends how long it has been since the phone left the factory? It is possible that some retailers have a stock that is very big, so that the phones that they sell right now have a firmware that is a few months old...
