New Nokia PC Suite v. 6.86.9.3?

Hi! just received an e-mail for a new version of Nokia PC Suite v. 6.86.9.3. Anyone here noted this? The previous version (from 9 April) was 6.86.9.0.
Any changes?

I just downloaded latest version last night.
It still has that stupid problem of not being able to restore calendar events.
I hope that it is because of the phone software because I only have V.20 and can still upgrade to V21.
Anyone else still got that problem?
The restore problem occurs with which phone model?

    Cheers, Nokia Ovi Suite team

I have a N97mini and I'm having a lot of problem with music:
     - first of all, randomly the program generates ghost tracks on the phone instead of copying them: When I drag and drop, say, track1.mp3 into my phone area, it says that it has been copied , but when I disconnect the phone and I go to the music app on the phone, I see the Artist of "track1" but when I select it, the phone displays "no tracks" and when I try to delete from the thephone, it says "file corrupted" and it doesnt delete anything.
     - like 1 over 3 times the program fails to connect with the phone. Simply says "no device connected" or something like "Impossible to sync, remove usb cable" and so on.
     - why it's impossible to remove music tracks from the main pc list, when I remove a control folder from the control folder list? I made the mistake to add my entiremusic collection to the main list, so I cant sync the music and cant remove back the tracks from the main list (yes I can remove one by one, but, you know...)
     - why I cant select to copy the music on the memory card instead of where the program wants? Yes, I can select my "preferred memory" but this fails to address correctly the copy in the memory card.
     - why I cant create a playlist with all the tracks in a specific folder? It's really annoying to reselect all the tracks from the Ovi suite when you have already selected to copy them to a specific folder (my phone is not my only portable music device, you know?)
Before this phone, I used Sony Ericsson walkman phones and it was so easy: drag and drop from explorer and that's done. I've tryed with the n97m and it generates a lot of this "ghost trasks" that made me format the memory card...
This music software is so annoying...

  • Fine tunning the new Nokia Ovi suite 2.0.2.42

    Hi,
I just installed Nokia Ovi suite and have configured some settings but the followings are either not available or can't be configured:
SMS , call and battery notifications are missing as compared to Nokia PC Suite
Calendar cannot be viewed , I can only see (contacts , photos , messaging and Music) on the home screen
Device backup time cannot be set
Sync period with MS Outlook cannot be set
Calendar items that are older than 4 weeks cannot be synced
Under tools - options - device sync , I didn't select the message folder to be synced but the software has already synced SMS messages between the phone and computer! I didn't want to do that
Cannot create MMS message as opposed to Nokia PC Suite
In short the interface is cool but there are many features that are available in Nokia PC suite that are missing from Nokia Ovi suite
Any fix to any of the above issues would be appreciated

I have tried for 4 days to use my N95 as modem (cable or bluetooth) using the latest version of PC Suite and N95 software.
I gave up and went back to version 6.81.13.0 (my CD)and I am back on the internet again.
why is the new version not working?
HP pavilion dv 9000, Windows Vista Ultimate

Mine works with the latest drivers etc, however when I turn on the laptop I always get a new hardware found issue and Vista trys (and fails) to install the bluetooth drivers.
Do you know what speed we can get connecting a Laptop to the internet via the N95 (using Bluetooth)?

  • Nokia maps suite.. NEW

Nokia Maps Suite: Everything You Need To Know
The new ‘Nokia Maps Suite’ was arguably the biggest application release at the opening day of Nokia World 2011. The new suite brings ‘the future of location-based services’ to your fingertips. Designed with the commuter in mind, the new location software is the best way to travel on trams, trains and buses with worldwide coverage. Perfect for when the train, bus and tram break down and you need to use Nokia Maps to find your way on foot. Sharing is also a core competence of the new suite, the ‘Pulse’ application allows you to check in with friends and family on the go, presumably this is to ensure your finger is always on the pulse!
We are going to take you on a wild rollercoaster ride that explores the four main location-based software groups that complete the Nokia Maps Suite. Here is a quick overview for those that like to keep it top line, before we delve deep into each group:
    1. Live View: A new augmented-reality browser that turns your phone’s camera viewfinder to help you spot places of interest.
    2. Pulse: Enables you to privately share and discuss your location, photos and mood with friends and family.
    3. Public Transport: You don’t need to work for CSI:Miami to solve this one. The Public Transport app tells you the most efficient way to get from A to B using public transport anywhere in the world.
    4. Places: Once again, the clue is in the name, this app quite simply helps you discover places around you.
    Nokia Live View via Nokia
Now it’s time to do some delving.
    Live View
The above image highlights the most exciting feature of the Nokia Maps Suite. Some of you may have never used augumented-reality on your smart-phones before, so we thought we would give you a quick augumented-reality check. Augumented-reality essentially merges the worlds of online and offline. Take the street you work, live or study on, if you were to open the app and point the camera down the street, you would not only see the physical elements of a shop, restaurant or bar but you would see the virtual elements of the shop superimposed on your screen. By ‘virtual’ we mean the information about the shop that is available online. So this may include the shops name, the products it sells, the opening times and its exact location from where you are standing. Sounds pretty futuristic doesn’t it! If that explanation didn’t make any sense then here is a definition of augumented-reality. Augmented-reality used to be offered as a stand-alone application but now it joins the new Nokia Maps family.
If you are not comfortable using the camera view you can always switch to a list or map view of your surrounding area, but we think that takes the fun out of the whole app. There is also a great feature that lets you browse famous places from around the world.
    Pulse
Pulse is a great new feature that lets you connect with friends and family in a private capacity. You don’t need to belong to a social network, you simply add your location with a post and everyone else you have added will see your latest activity. Your post could include text, a photo or your location. The app is private by default so there is no need to build a 10ft wall around your personal details. Nokia Pulse is also integrated with maps so as soon as a friend checks in nearby you can find out exactly how to reach them, or alternatively, exactly how to avoid them! Check out the video below, it explains everything about Pulse:
    Nokia Pulse via Nokia
    Public Transport
This is a great app for those of us travelling long distances on public transport everyday. It neatly combines several methods of public transport into one easy interface. So, if you know you might need to take a bus, tram or train on your travels, then all of the proposed timings, locations and routes required will be displayed. You may even be directed to walk some of the journey to reach your next form of public transport, unlucky! The app has ‘up-to-the-minute’ updates on all bus and tram routes in 45 cities and the device tracks public transportation directly on a mobile device in more than 430 cities worldwide.
    Nokia Transport via Nokia
    Places
Need to find a last minute Michelin Star restaurant for some new clients? Forgotten to get your wife flowers on your wedding anniversary? Or are you just bored of going to the same burger bar every Friday lunchtime? Well the Places app is a fantastic solution to these problems because it gets you to your desired and undiscovered destinations faster and more efficiently. You can check ratings and reviews for restaurants you are unsure about in a foreign land, get directional advice to the location you have chosen and then find the nearest taxi rank to grab a trip home. The software is designed to help you find locations in your local area that you may have previously been unaware of. Who knows, that burger bar you didnt know about behind your office could be alot tastier and better value for money than the one right in front of your office!
So, there you have it, our take on the new Nokia Maps software. We can’t wait to put some of these technologies into practice, in the meantime though we want you to tell us whether this sounds like the future of mapping and if not, why!? Do share!
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
    Now using the Lumia 1520

OK I feel silly now. I just realized that the links to donwload maps manually work now...
I will try again to add them through Nokia Suite in 10 hours and I will use manual download if it does not work.
Thanks anyway and I advise everyone to download the whole world to be prepared for the moment where the server is unplugged.

  • MMS + Nokia PC Suite + 6230i

    Hi,
I just installed the new Nokia PC Suite 7
    and I have a few issues :
MMS are not being able to be sent or saved : every time I try to create a MMS and send or save it, I get the message "Failed to send the message"
2nd issue : I'm unable to sync my mobile phone with Outlook anymore. It was working flawlessly with the ancient version 6 or Nokia PC Suite. I restarted both the computer and the mobile phone. But I can see the contacts and browse the phone without problem (so the bluetooth pairing is correct). It's just Outlook sync which is not working.
I'm using Windows XP SP3, up to date, Outlook 2003 SP3
    and my mobile phone is a 6230i V03.40 (23-05-05)
    support appreciated ...

  • Nokia N8 will not bluetooth with Nokia PC suite

I have a new laptop running Windows 8.1 and installed the new Nokia PC suite.  Even tho the laptop and phone can be connected via bluetooth the PC suite does not recognize the N8.  It used to connect no problem when using the old OVI suite.  It will connect using a cable but I want to use bluetooth to transfer photos.
Can anyone suggest a way to connect these two via bluetooth please?
By the way the way I think the interface of the new PC suite is not as good as the OVI suite.

Yes, that’s it. Why do you ask?
You do not have the latest software components. This might be the cause; let us double-check:
    Nokia Connectivity/Cable Driver 7.1.182
    Nokia Suite 3.8.48
    PC Suite 7.1.180.94 (optional)
You do not have to uninstall anything, nor follow any particular order. Your versions of these software components are detected automatically and updated if need. However, if you follow the above order, you avoid install-uninstall-install for many components. In WIndows 8.1, the (optional) PC Suite installation must be excuted via a right-click » Windows 7 compatibility.
Did that help? If not, we need that System information again.

  • Problem In using Nokia PC Suite with the new Nokia...

My Nokia Ahs 310 is a new phone I bought and I tried with it to connect internet through my PC using Nokia PC Suite. But, when I connect phone to the PC it tells that it can't find the drivers and install the new device. And in someyimes in Nokia PC Suite it showed as "connected in non compatible USB".
However I can't log into internet using my Nokia Asha 310. Please help me in this regard.

scoobyman, I think KRNS tries to use his Nokia 310 as modem for his computer. Consequently, no Wi-Fi involved.

This does not affect the Nokia 310 but only Nokia Asha 501, Nokia 301, Nokia 210, and the Nokia 206 – because my Nokia 310 works with Nokia Suite and PC Suite perfectly. Furthermore, The Nokia 301 was tested with the PC Suite successfully. Same for the Nokia 206. Success reports for the Nokia 210 are still missing.

install the latest Nokia Suite. This install the latest Connectivity Cable Driver automatically. Then
install the latest PC Suite (I like its modem handling more)
Nokia 310 » SIM Manager » choose SIM1 (at least for data)
PC Suite » Menu » File » Connect to the Internet
Works here with my Nokia 310, just tested for you. However, I was not able to use SIM2 for the computer. If neither PC Suite nor Nokia Suite worked for you, please say so!

  • Satellite U300-130 - TosBtMng has stopped working after Nokia PC Suite installation

I've got the same problem too... with Toshiba Satellite U300-130.
Bluetooth had worked pretty well before I installed Nokia PC Suite for my mobile on my PC (the newest version 7.1.26.0 from website).
To be correct, at first I even managed to maintain a Bluetooth connection between PC and Nokia and ran syncronisation of contacts. I made several attempts but each time syncronisation run ended with message "PC coudn't get answer from your Nokia".
After rebooting, my PC went crazy and started issuing message "TosBtMng has stopped working" and it restarted every time I ask it to close.
Installation of new version of BT Stack (6.40) didn't fix this error.
    Please help

    Hi there
I answered an existing thread with the same problem, but no-one can help apparently.
Anyway,,, I can at least help you with getting rid of the looping setup. You need to rename the directory with the Toshiba bluetooth stack.
I also have Nokia syncing and it worked fine until recently. - I have to say I think the problem relates to a Windows auto upgrade.
How to solve this is a different matter. At this moment I have given up. The Toshiba bluetooth stack disabled.

  • 6280, 6230 and Nokia PC Suite - no calendat sync

I am using version 6.81.13.0 of PC Suite on a late-model Dell 9300 notebook. I connect using a Nokia CA-53 USB cable supplied with my 6280 phone. The PC is running Windows XP Professional SP2 with all available Microsoft patches.
Until recently, I was using a Nokia 6230 phone and an older version of PC Suite. The calendar was sent from the PC to the phone with no problem at all, and I could always refer to my phone to check my calendar. This connection used Bluetooth.
When my new 6280 arrived, I loaded the PC Suite software from the 6280 CD. The software immediately demanded an update from the Nokia website, which I downloaded and installed. After a couple of successful bluetooth connections, suddenly neither phone would sync with Outlook.
Very soon after that, no Bluetooth connection would work at all, and I resorted to the USB cable. With the USB cable, the phones communicate with the Sync software, but no data is sent to either phone. I have removed the software, used the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, reinstalled, created new profiles and tried every single option, but the system simply will not sync.
Can anyone help? By upgrading my phone, I have lost my sync facility altogether.
Here's the system info from PC Suite:
    Operating system:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Build 2600
    Service Pack 2
    Language: English (United States)
Language for non-Unicode programs: English (United States)
    Locale: English (United Kingdom)
    Input language: English (United Kingdom)
    Nokia PC Suite:
    Version 6.81.13.0
    Language: English
    Connectivity Cable Drivers:
    Version 6.81.1.2
    Microsoft Outlook:
    Version 11.0
    Build 8010
    Bluetooth stacks:
    Microsoft Bluetooth stack
    Version 5.1.2600.2180
    WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack
    Version 4.0.1
    Build 2401

The difficulties people with XP SP 2 (with Microsoft Bluetooth) and any other Bluetooth(like Widcomm) are having, is really sad.
YOu can try to run arepair to PC Suite and Nokia Connecitivty solution from add/remove programs and see if that helps.
Also check that is the Bluetooth software you are using (I cannot tell by looking at your list), is working with the phone.
    Last resort:
I can only suggest that you start from scrach, uninstall the widcomm, Pc Suite and Connectivity solution, run Pc suite cleaner and reinstall PC Suite(includes the connectivity solution).

  • Nokia PC Suite support for Outlook and Thunderbird

    Hi,
I am currently using the Microsoft Outlook 2007 combined with Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the contents of the Outlook with my Nokia N73 smartphone. I am now considering to switch e-mail client from Microsoft Outlook to the Mozilla Thunderbird. So my question is then, is Nokia PC Suite compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird?
I have in fact already installed Thunderbird, but it is not available as an option anywhere in the settings for Nokia PC Suite. All I can find in the Nokia PC Suite settings is a tab called "Microsoft Outlook" where I can choose the different Outlook profiles or change settings. In my humble opinion there should be a new tab added called "Thunderbird" or similar right next to the "Microsoft Outlook" tab in the settings for Nokia PC Suite after installing another e-mail client such as the Mozilla Thunderbird.
I know that there is this option to choose what e-mail client to use upon installing Nokia PC Suite, where I have chosen Outlook. Does this mean that I have to reinstall Nokia PC Suite to get this choice to choose e-mail client to use? If I do reinstall Nokia PC Suite, will I even get to this option at all? Since I am only reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and it is already configured once to be used with Outlook, I'm thinking that maybe this option will not even appear upon reinstalling Nokia PC Suite.
I don't have a clear memory of it but I think I once reinstalled Nokia PC Suite for some reason and I was not presented with this option to choose e-mail client as the first time I installed it. So this may require complete uninstallation and deletion of files and Windows registry for Nokia PC Suite, and then a fresh installation of it to get to this window where to choose e-mail client.
Even when and if I get to that window, it's no guarantee that I will be able to choose Thunderbird even thou it's installed. Why? Because I know from experience that commercial and proprietary software like Nokia PC Suite tends to only support the industry standard platforms and systems and applications, or de-facto industry standards like the extensively used Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft products. I know by experience that such software as Nokia PC Suite love to lick Microsoft's **bleep**. Don't you think?... or don't you know? You disagree? Well lay it on me, tell me what you think!
I would love to be able to synchronize my mobile phone with my computer, even if I may use a Linux or other nix-like operating system. But if Nokia PC Suite doesn't even support e-mail clients other then Microsoft Outlook, such as the Thunderbird, then it's probably too much to ask for a Linux support for Nokia PC Suite. Or is it?... does Nokia PC Suite support Linux?...

    Thanks for your answers!
By this time I have made a clean install of Windows Vista at least three times, and on one occasion I remembered to check this this thesis of mine that I mentioned above. So for the purpose of testing if it's true that the Nokia PC Suite installation process or Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard does not present the user with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as e-mail client, I have done the following.
I have made a completely clean, out of the box installation of Windows Vista on the computer (retail version, non-custom branded Vista version). After installing the needed and important drivers for the system and other software required for the proper operation of the system and few other software, I went on installing Microsoft Office with Outlook 2007 as one of the first software applications. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. After I had done that, I installed the Nokia PC Suite.
As my thesis predicted, after successfully installing Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard was started, I was not presented with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client, even thou both Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird were installed prior to or before Nokia PC Sync. In other words, if this was a limitation of the Nokia PC Suite or it's installer, where it does not recognize e-mail clients that are installed after Nokia PC Suite itself, then installing the e-mail clients in this order should make Nokia PC Suite recognize it. But it did not, or at least as long as the Mozilla Thunderbird is concerned. Thus, this proves my thesis - Nokia PC Suite is currently not compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird. And Mobile Sensei Petrib confirms this also.
Here follows a screenshot of the actual Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard.
    http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9803/nokiapcsyncsd3.jpg
I'm afraid we will have to bear with this. I personally don't believe that there will ever be any official release of Nokia PC Suite that will have full support (or any at all) for other e-mail clients then just Microsoft Outlook and Lotus, or that there will be any official Linux or nix-like version of it. Not today, not in next five years, and not in one thousand light-years from today. We can hope, but the odds are pointing in the opposite direction.
So bear with Microsoft Outlook, and the Windows **bleep**. No pay, no play! Unfortunately... fortunate for Microsoft, Nokia, and others alike, but unfortunate for us end users.
