New nVidia 6.70 drivers

Recently i got nVidia nForce 6.53 drivers on my computer installed, they are working well. I would like to install the latest nForce 6.70 from nVidia  and i am not sure how to do it. Do i have to uninstall the old ones first ?
Thanks in advance.

1. Yul is not using RAID;
2. Of course Windows will not see the RAID arrays after uninstalling the drivers ... installing the new drivers will make the array come back again, though - so I do not think that you actually killed your system (the arrays were just temporarily out-of-sight ). I have done this numerous times before I switched to a Promise card;
3. If the OS is on the array, then of course the situation is a bit more complex, but even then you will not kill your system right away;
4. it is good advice and generally accepted to remove remainders of old (Nvidia-) drivers, before installing new ones

    See if this works:
Press F8 repeatedly as your machine boots up, until it comes to a selection screen.
Choose "Start my computer with last known good configuration" (or something to that effect).
This should roll back the nForce drivers, and windows should boot normally. One other thing, I'll assume you installed the SW IDE driver? (it asks you during the nForce setup, and you have to choose yes or no).
If you did install the SW IDE driver, when you get back into windows, reinstall the nForce drivers, but this time choose NO! when it asks to install the SW IDE driver.
Hope that helps, let me know!

Great Job Roger, that did the trick!
    Thanks so much

  • New nVidia 15.17 Drivers and K8N SLI-FI Problems

I am having problems with the ethernet 67.80 drivers in this package. They hang up trying to acquire DHCP address. I had to uninstall them and reinstall the original nVidia CK08-04 ethernet driver from the MSI CD.
Wonder if anyone else has had problems with this 67.60 ethernet driver?
Also the installer/uninstaller with this 15.17 package is buggy.
I am running WIN XP Pro SP3.

Well, it might be academic now since nVidia has pulled these 15.17 drivers off of their web site. Talk about a MCF. First, they post the wrong links so people who wanted to download Vista drivers were getting WIN XP drivers and vice versa. They no sooner fix there web links and they pull the drivers.
People with RAID were having major problems with these drivers. I do know I am getting fantastic performance with my Seagate 250GB SATA-II drives with the included Vista drivers but I am running in a non-RAID mode.
To bad that the ethernet driver didn't work with this 15.17 pack since it did recognize my NIC at 1000bps. I did reinstall the old NIC drivers which corrected the DHCP connect issues.
I am going to make it a point not to get a nVidia chipset board on my next upgrade. They are going downhill like everything else PC wise. Maybe I will throw in the towel and either go Linux or get a Mac.

  • JRE 1.3.1_02 does not work with new Nvidia drivers - HELP!

I am a user and not a developer but this problem really does bite the big one. I have had installed JRE 1.3.1 and have used it to run LimeWire file sharing program for a long time (LimeWire is a java program from www.limewire.com) and also use it to see java applets on web pages in IE 6.
I have since upgraded my Nvidia video drivers to version 2.8.3.2 which is the latest official release at this time from Nvidia. Since doing this I have no java at all anymore. Limewire refuses to run at all and there is an error report generated in it's resident directory. If I go to http://java.sun.com, IE hangs and then dissappears, leaving a bug report on my desktop. It seems that JRE does not like the new NT OpenGL dll at all in the new Nvidia drivers and will not run at all. The dll that causes the problem is:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvoglnt.dll
I upgraded JRE to version 1.3.1_02 because Sun says this is the latest version and runs on XP which is what I have. Still java does not run at all anymore and I get the same bug reports. Has anyone found a workaround for this problem? This really stinks because now I cannot use LimeWire at all and if any web page has java on it, it dissappears right away and there is no more browser on my desktop. The only way I can even visit http://java.sun.com is if I use a Java blocking applet to filter out java applets on web pages.
Please address this issue in JRE development and release a patch for it or a workaround.
    Thank you for reading this.

    Chuck,
I stumbled in here looking for help, I am a PC user,
not a coder or developer (How sad. <g>). I checked for
updates to the Nvidia driver (none), Windows XP (not
at this time), and DirectX 8.1 (not at this time,
these come on the XP updates page so far as I know.)
    Not too suprising...
I have no idea of how to implement your suggestion on
how to disable the JMV use of DirectX overal in my XP
envornment. I guess that using Internet Explorer 6 to
see web pages with Java on them are pretty much out of
the question for now but I would be happy as a clam if
I could get my LimeWire application going again.
LimeWire is called via a desktop or Start menu
    shortcut in this fashion:
    Target Box: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -cp .
    RunLime
    Start In (directory): "C:\Program Files\LimeWire 1.7"
So it appears that java is called via the javaw.exe
file and passes a cp argument (whatever that is), then
there is a period separator (dunno why) and then the
"RunLime" statement that calls up the LimeWire
program.to implement the suggestion, simply add -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true between "javaw.exe" and "-cp" separating it from them by a space on each side. Your result should look something like this:
    c:\windows\system32\javaw.exe -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -cp . RunLime
    >
I cannot see any need for fancy graphic acceleration
or DirectX being called to play for this application
since it is basicly a file manager that shares.
Nothing fancy about it.It's not the application choosing to do this, but Java itself. Java GUI applications specifically those who use the Swing GUI classes (like LimeWire, if I recall) automatically leverage DirectX. This is really valuable for Swing applications since they emulate Windows (or Mac or Motif) GUI widgets rather than using them, making fast access to display buffers important to ensure best performance.
    >
Do you have any idea of how to pass your
    "-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true" statement to disable
DirectX into the above call to start java and
    LimeWire?See above.

Hanging by the edge of my seat, waiting for more input
on this. Thank you for your time and suggestions.

  • Overscan missing from new Nvidia Drivers - Mac MIni 2010

So I was able to install new Nvidia drivers on my Mac mini 2010, however, there are no overscan options.. and my tv is connected via HDMI. Is there any workaround for this?

The final version of Appleworks 6 does in fact work on the Intel Mini under Leopard -- but Apple doesn't support it, nor ship it with the new Minis.
A free office suite that is MS Office compatible is NeoOffice:
    http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/maindownload.php
    a similar alternative is OpenOffice:
    http://www.openoffice.org/
There is no office suite that is directly compatible with Appleworks files, but if you install AppleWorks 6 on your Mini, you could export files in formats that other office programs can read.

  • Older Mobo/Newer Nvidia Drivers

Having some weird issues with the newest nvidia ethernet driver (67.89), here is my system specs on this 2+ year old system:
    MSI P6N Plat (BIOS 1.7)
    Q6600@stock speed
    4gig RAM@800mhz
    Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3
I decided to upgrade all the nforce drivers to the latest, and after the 15.25 installer removed the nforce ethernet, it rebooted and
continued the install with the newest drivers. Now I usually set the network connection to show when it's connected in the taskbar. When the computer boots into windows with the new driver, this icon doesn't pop up, and when I try to load a web browser, it acts as if
there is no connection. As soon as I open up the Network Connections or device manager areas, the icon will pop up and I can then connect. I have never had this much of a delay in loading this driver at bootup. If I sit at the desktop and do nothing, the icon/connection never shows up.
So I went back to the MSI site, and I see they currently list an older version of the nforce drivers for this board still, so I downloaded those, and only chose to install the ethernet driver (67.15). Now I'm back to having my adapter/connection load up right away, but this is with a mismatch of nvidia drivers. I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this with the new drivers, or doesn't have these issues with the new nvidia driver. It may work better with a fresh OS install, but since I got it working the way it was, I'd rather not do a reinstall just for the new driver. I'm not having any other issues with the system.

Yes, I was hoping not to break anything, but the risk was low (lower than a BIOS update for sure). Usually when issues do arise, the first thing someone asks is "Do you have the latest drivers?". While nothing was broke, my main hope was for slightly better performance than before, which we are all trying to get out of our rigs.
I was wondering if anyone here with the same motherboard might have run into this too. I guess I'm more worried I will end up doing a fresh reinstall one day a few years from now and only have access to the latest drivers, and wonder what the issue is. I'll probably be installing a different OS at that time anyways.

I'm curious as to why nVidia released these without the "Refresh Rate Overrides" page enabled. I need to use them or if whenever I play TFC, etc. I get a 60Hz refresh rate, and that "hertz" my eyes. Anyway, a registry tweak is all that is needed and the simplest way is to use this registry tweaker I'm linking to do it.
    http://billfleming.dyndns.org/LV/regtweaks/enable_refresh_rate_override.reg
It works and I now have the Refresh Rate Overrides page back. I guess nVidia thinks we're all using LCDs.
Great finally a new official whql driver released by nvidia. Theese drivers works great for my much better than the old beta drivers. Frankenputer thanks for finding that tweak, I have been using refreshlock the last few days and I hate that program.

  • [GeForce 6] problems overclocking my NX6800GT with newer nvidia drivers

    Hiya guys,
JUst wondering if anyone else is having issues oc,ing there 6800gt with the newer nvidia drivers?any driver newer than the 71.25 version causes freezes and corruption and does not matter what speed its at even does it at 360 1050 but at default 350 1000 everything is fine.
BUt oc,ing with the msi 71.25 and below drivers it runs without error at 400 1100 temps are at 52c load 45idle,
Have installed fresh winXP pro, thought it may have been a power problem so i ripped out my 420w thermaltake psu and replaced it with a nice new Enermax noisetaker 485w psu with dual 12v:18a rails still no go,have tried every driver availible only drivers 71.25 and below will oc,all driver up to  76.50 will not, also have tried coolbits, rivatuner, powerstrip etc..and still no go.
Has anyone come accross this?? feel free to share.....

wow - this is my story also... I have been up and down the street with my MSI 6800GTs (in SLi) and they do not OC worth a damn... I am pretty bummed out due to the money, time, blood, sweat, and tears I have shovled into this rig and I only get stock...  essentially... I have tried all the OC'ing utilities, different power supplies, volt modding... and I think it's got to be some bios setting or maybe the one piece GPU memory cooler design... the GPU and memory both heating this thing... I don't think it works that well... honestly... I have been around the net, on many forums... and the only peeps who have /any/ luck with OC'ing these MSI 6800GTs are water cooled... anyways... I have spent soooo much time on this and for that reason alone I doubt I will be buying MSI products in the future, but I would still like to find a solution which allows me to push my $900 worth of video cards to ultra speeds.   I am really considering going with water cooling... but I really don't want to deal with the hassles of it right now... what I would really like to find or buy are some 6800 Ultras reference design coolers to install on my GTs... I think a lot of this inabillty to OC well is heat related... I know I can get 10mhz more out of my cards when my room is cool....  I have a LOT of air on these cards... and good ventilation... I have my system stats in another post on this forum entitled "nx6800GT OC issues in SLi" or something like that.  Good luck man, and I will let you know if I find a solution for this.

  • Nvidia Networking Controller Drivers in Vista BootCamp ????

I have installed Vista 32bit in BootCamp 3 on my new 13" Macbook Pro, all seemed fine but for some reason, Vista does not recognise the Nvidia Networking Controller driver installed from the bootcamp drivers, it says it failed to load the driver when checked in Device Manager.
Also, I have problems which I think relate to the Broadcom Wireless driver too. Signal strength when running in Snow Leopard is full bars, no problems. But when booted into Windows the wireless signal strength is one bar and oh so poor.
I have to move within a couple of meters of the router to get a good signal.
What is wrong with these drivers ???? i thought Apple supported Vista ????
I have read elsewhere of people suffering at the hands of the poor Broadcom driver, is there any update from Apple for this, or does anyone know of a new version of the drivers from Broadcom at all that give better performance ???
Same with the Nvidia driver, anyone know what to do about that, Apparetnly you can't just go to Nvidia and download the Nforce from there as the Apple OEM drivers are different and I dont even know which Nforce version the laptop uses anyway.
Please Help - Going Insane - Grey - And VERY bald!!!

Anyone have any ideas about this at all ????
I have updated bootcamp to 3.1 now but nothings changed. I did switch on Afterburner, disabled low power consumption and also changed the driver to use b/g/n auto which has helped slightly but not dramatically. As I have said OSX runs full signal so I know theres no router signal issue.

  • GP60: After installing new NVIDIA driver, no brightness controls work now.

Hey guys! I have a small problem I'm hoping someone might know how to fix. I just installed a new NVIDIA driver update (I'm now on build ) and now my brightness controls won't work. My computer is stuck in a very bright setting, and I don't know how to fix it. I've restarted the computer, and I've put it into hibernation and restarted it.
Before i did the hibernation, my computer was stuck in GPU mode (it would only use the GPU, even if all I was doing was using PowerPoint). The hibernation/restart fixed that, but not my brightness. Not sure if the problems are related, but throwing that in there too just in case.
I also don't know if this is related as well, but my NVIDIA control panel will not work either; it says that I don't have a display that uses it or something like that. Again, probably TMI, but better safe than sorry!
I'd appreciate any advice that I could get! Thanks!
    Specs:
    MSI GP60
    intel i5-4200
NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M/2 GB DDR3 (my problem child today).
Update: Now my computer is back in GPU-only mode and nothing is helping it swap out of it. I'm thinking the two are related now...

Have you installed the Intel graphic driver?
The hot key for brightness is controlled by EC & Intel graphic driver.
Please refer to the product webpage to download the latest Intel graphic driver:

Pick your model and select Download and your OS type to find the drivers.

  • Is it possible to put the new nVidia GTX 480 in the Mac Pro

I'm planning on creating the ultimate gaming machine, but also want the best operating system. So I have decided that my next computer will be the Mac Pro and will have the new nVidia GTX 480 (if it works). The Windows partition would be used for heavy gaming with DX 11 and PhysX technology. While on the OSX partition I could use the greatest operating system, to do general things like Movie Making, Picture Editing, Web Surfing, Emailing etc.
So all in all, is it possible to install a GTX 480 on OSX? I know it'll work with the windows partition, but not sure about OSX. I'm also unsure about the hardware side of things, but that's why I'm asking!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again,
    Mike

If you don't need dual processor, PC with 980X Gulftown makes sense.
Forget over clocking a Mac, but if you need dual processor, the Mac Pro makes sense but expect to pay. Otherwise, take a look at
    EVGA Classified SR-2 (Super Record 2) 270-WS-W555-A1
    http://www.evga.com/products/prodlist.asp?switch=5
Apple has not had good Nvidia drivers. And right now there are two 6-pin, and you need 6 + 8 and stick with Windows 7 and ability to do SLI. I laugh when people talk about "windoz" (rude) being somehow less or 'inferior' having seen the best - and worst - of both (never got caught up in 95/98/NT/XP so spoiled by only knowing Vista/7). I still think 10.6 hasn't quite caught up to 7 in areas that really matter, like threading, multicore, efficient use of memory.
Forget using more than one, Apple likes graphic cards that are low power, low end, and only supporting one high end card.
The GTX 480 @ $499, and if Apple offered it, it would be $549 or more (Apple 'tax' for smaller market and having to do their own drivers). And it would be much later before optimized drivers (maybe next year this time at best).
While you can go water and add custom fans and cooling, the Mac is much more of a "closed" box in many ways beyond RAM and hard drives and +very limited+ selection of graphics.
That really is my honest assessment.
The place where Mac Pro is easier, you can install 32-64GB RAM without trouble and not have to worry about compatibility or PSU issues. I'm always surprised by all the memory testing and supported and problems PC owners go through (I don't think Cruical Ballistix gets enough credit).
DX11 will still take time. Adobe showed how GPGPU/CUDA could benefit, but Apple and Adobe apps have always tended to favor ATI which is just beginning to get into OpenCL technology ... and the 5000 series may find Nvidia Fermi, while it took longer, runs hot and power requirement, could be better poised down the road too.
A single socket Mac Pro 3.3GHz or even stock (same as 920) will do the job you want.

Are a good selection and place to shop. My the time Gulftown + GTX480 and all the rest is out and ready could be more than a few months.

    Thanks for this info...
I guess the usage of such drivers might cause some problems since this are just BETA drivers

  • New Sandy Bridge GPU Drivers?

I saw in an article (and of course now can't find) that Intel had released new Sandy Bridge graphics drivers.  Has anyone seen or tried these, and what did you find out?

I downloaded the zip file version of the driver then followed the manual installation instruction in the readme file to get it installed.I had a problem using the EXE version because I am always prompted with this message:
"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will exit."
whenever I launch the EXE installer.
Graphics operation feels snappier but I had a problem with color profiles being unstable in Optimus mode. The screen randomly turns bluish or redish despite being calibrated by the color sensor. The WEI graphics score in Intel-only mode is 6.4 as shown in this picture
