New Nvidia in Bootcamp XP driver problems

Hi All,
I recently installed the new drivers from Nvidia on my XP Bootcamp partition. All seemed well, and I noticed an improvement in performance for my game, Age of Conan, after installing new drivers and rebooting the system.
However, I get home today switch to Bootcamp, XP loads but as soon as it loads some Nvidia software ( I am assuming its a service here since I couldnt find anything in the startup folders) the whole thing freezes and I get a weird gfx error where the screen displays aload of crap.. which requires a reboot.
I try to boot up in safe mode to address the problem, but the keyboard and mouse are not active to select the various options. Although I am able to get into the options by pressing F8 as normal.. So i cannot select safe mode.
So I loaded up parallels, set the services I suspect are the problem to off, but it seems it still loads up the software thats causing the probs. I assume here that its using a different system startup from parallels.
I tried to install the old bootcamp drivers from within parallels but its using a different display system and so the driver setup wont work.
What is weird is I have used these drivers before, with no problems, to play eve-online on a bootcamp partition which I had to delete and recreate for disk resizing issues.
HELP!
Thanks..
EDIT: I can boot the bootcamp partition using parallels so its clear its a display driver issue.

Okay so I have managed to boot from XP natively by using run in windows from parallels, and using msconfig to perform a limited startup.
No probs.. it boots fine.
However, when I try to install the offical nvida bootcamp drivers I get the previous message that I dont have the supported hardware. Ugh!
Any ideas?

  • HT5634 Bootcamp 4 driver problems with Vista 32 bit

Support says bootcamp 4 and Vista 32 only for my MacPro, but drivers won't install for anything but Windows 7.  Should I download bootcamp 2.0 and reinstall Vista?  Anyway to get drivers for Bootcamp 4 with Vista?

I don't know if it's the driver that's causing a problem or if it's one of your components that's causing a problem. All I know is that the X-Fi is working great on my system, both in XP Pro and Vista Business. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think I installed the driver first and then the software from the leaked Vista Suite that I downloaded from a link in a post on this forum. Never had a problem with any of the previous drivers either, but on the other hand this system was built in november/december last year, so the hardware was fairly new at the time.

  • Bootcamp Graphics Driver problems "GT 750m". (Late 2013 model)

Hey, i just bought a completely new Macbook 15' late 2013 with the GT 750m.
I have just installed Windows 7 Through Bootcamp, Creating the ISO and downloading the support files onto a USB. I follow the whole bootcamp procedure flawlessly, and install windows, and it even pops up at the end asking me to install the Bootcamp windows software. After a clean install i am confronted with the problem that i don't see my Nvidia GT 750m in windows. I manually open the Bootcamp folder Bootcamp/Drivers/Nvidia/Setup. I try to run the setup but it says it cannot find my hardware. I've tried downloading hewers versions through Nvidias site, but i don't seem to be having any luck with the newer drivers either. I don't start with any Nvidia control panel but only a Intel control panel.
Is this a general problem or is it just me? I assume that the "Discrete" graphic switching is not working in Windows. I have fully updated windows, and tried to "Reinstall/repair via the bootcamp setup" Nothing works.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me.
    Regards.

  • MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI driver problem

Hi.. I really need your help guys..
First of all, I have Windows XP Pro.
Okay, I have this MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI card, and wanted to change drivers.
I had 50.xx, and wanted to change back to 40.xx, because it works better with Counter-Strike.
So, I went into Device Manager and went into the video card properties -> driver.
I pressed the 'Uninstall driver', because you need to uninstall the newer driver if you want to install an older driver.
Then my computer restarted, and when it was booting, a blue screen or something came up, with text about my computer was deleting and scanning some files(?).
I don't know what it was uninstalling excatly, but when I got into Windows I had to use a 'VGA driver' or something..
I tried to install the 40.xx driver, double clicked the Setup.exe but when it was begining to install this error came up: 'An error occured while launching the setup. (0x80040702)'.
I don't know what it means, but I can't install any drivers for nVidia?!
I tried the Device manager, and I can't update the 'VGA' ..
It's like my computer isn't recognizing the card or something.. I've tried 'Add new hardware' and everything.
    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance.
    P.S. My PC specs:
    Intel Pentium4 2.0GHz
    Some IBM mainboard
    512DDR
    GeForce 4200 TI
    Windows XP Pro

Generally for nVidia drivers for the VGA, is what I explained above by going to Add Remove programs in control panel and look for the entry for nVidia display drivers.
Since you are asking me this, I fear you may not be at the experience level required to do this as it can be somewhat of a nightmare if all the drivers are not removed completely. This is what you just experienced.
Look at the top of this forum and you will se an Important thread called driver cleaner, by Bonz and then the one above it by me. Go to the DriverHeaven Website and download the DC utility but make sure you read EVERYTHING and understand it before you proceed. If you are confused or not comfortable, then I suggest finding someone that is experienced enough to do it for you.
    It should be pretty straightforward.
    Good luck

  • Tranfer to new pc. Different root Drives problem

I just got a new comp. Itransfered all my music over the network. On my old Comp. I had all my music in D:/music on my new computer I put it all in a different folder and now I-tunes makes me find all of the songs in the new folder. The only problem is I have thousands of soungs in it and it would take forever. Is there any other way of letting I-tunes know where all my music is now at once? I would delete them all from I-tunes then drag and drop them back in but it seems to mess up everything I organized. Please help. Thanks

Copy \Music\iTunes\ folder from your old user folder on the now external drive to your current \Music\ folder.
Copy all the music files into \Music\iTunes\Media\Music\.
Launch iTunes and see if everything works.

  • Replaced failed HDD Sat. L455-5000 with new Western Digital 320 SATA drive-problems with recovery

Original HDD died.  Replaced it with new WD 320 SATA from Best Buy-nice drive-good reviews.  Used Recovery Center DVD's I had burned earlier.  Three with Toshiba Recovery  2 with Windows Recovery Envrinoment and DRivers/Apps.
Toshiba REcovery only asked for first 3.  Computer restart after Recovery Install(First Three Disks) gives error message:

WIndows Cannot Verify Digital Driver Signature.
Windows Boot Manager "screen" always comes up and Windows fails to start.
1.Asking for a windows installation disk-thought this was given in Toshiba Recovery DVD's I burned.
    2. Chosse language settings-click next
    3. CLick " repair your computer."
I thought the Toshiba Recovery Disks were supposed to install everything for me.  I don't have a sparate windows system disk.  Never burned one
    Any help woud be great.
    Thanks,
    Charles

    Time for some good news.
I received and installed an OEM WD 250 (Toshiba) replacement drive.  After loading the recovery disks this morning-it worked perfectly-just like "out of the box."
It was the HDD failure after all.  No software gliches at all.  Windows update of course is attempting to re-load about 500 updates. LOL.  I also learned to spread them out in groups of 10-20 long ago as well.  This will take some time; but the laptop is running fine.
So I learned some great lessons.  1)-stick with OEM replacement hardware-computers are "locked in time" to a definite hardware configuration that works well at that time in history.  2) If I had not used my own "decision" tree to problem solve-I'd still have a dead computer.  3) I was correct to order an external drive enclosure to test the bad drive after I was unable to do so with the laptop.  4)I made the right choices to contact the Western Digital Drive support to find out the new drive really might also be the problem.  5) It was also great to be able to get such amazing help on this forum too-what a great resource for Toshiba owners. 6)Finally-I was able to "chat" with the Toshiba Rep. online to confirm the OEM part number of the WD drive they had used-and ordered -cheaper- from Amazon.com.
    7) After 2 weeks of my own time(and great online resources) and $80.00-I fixed my laptop myself.  Never had to mail it anywhere.
    8) I also ended up with a great external backup drive-that I was always too lazy-and cheap-to order for myself  before.  LOL.
    9) Now what about the Toshiba OEM Graphics card that the "Windows Experience Survey' always says I need to replace?  Nope -not going there -yet.
    Thanks for all the help-
    Sincerely,
    Charles

  • New to MAC, External Hard Drive Problem Transfering files to MAC

    Hello All.
First I'm new to the MAC world, just bought my powerbook pro yesterday. Love it. I tired looking for this topic and found similar post but no solutions that I understood.
    10.4.9
I have a 260GB NTFS external hard drive with about 100 gigs of info on it. I used it with my PC, running XP Pro.
I want to be able to access that HD from my MAC but all I can do is read, I cannot write. I was hoping it would just hook up to my MAC and I'd be able to read and write.
I do not need to be able to use this HD with my PC anymore. I'm 100% MAC now. I was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to make that happen. Do I have to reformat my HD? What system is that FAT32, NTFS? Something else? And how do I go about doing it?
    Thanks to all.
    D-Power

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You are correct, Macs can only write to FAT32, or Mac formatted hard drives with the built-in software, unless the Mac is networked to the PC, as this article describes:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=19652
You can also add Macfuse to the Mac, to connect to an NTFS drive, and that's linked here:
    http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/
To reformat the drive, you'll have to erase it with Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility. Thus before you can reformat it, you'll have to copy over any essential information. The Partition section under Disk Uitlity lets you create a GUID Mac formatted partition under its Options button, and that is ideal for both Intel iMacs and MacBook Pros. If the label under the screen says Powerbook, let us know, and we'll direct you to that forum instead, if we can't answer your question here. Apple Partition Map on the other hand is the ideal for Powerbooks, and PowerPC based Macs. Formatting GUID or Apple Partition map, will let you boot from that drive, to verify that a clone backup was done properly depending on which Mac you made the clone for. Formatting FAT32 or NTFS won't let you make a full backup of your internal hard drive, and only will let you use it for backing up user documents. I highly recommend Shirt-pocket Superduper for backing up, as my FAQ* explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
P.S. The MacBook Pro is the Intel version of the Pro notebooks. You posted to the Intel iMac forum. The Intel iMac looks like: . So unless you have that Mac, you are in the wrong forum. There is no such Mac as the Powerbook Pro. You'll see the label in front says MacBook Pro below the screen if that's what you got. Here's the forum for it for category reference:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=190
And pick a forum within it to post a new topic, if I can't answer your question here.
In addition, this nomenclature article will be helpful as well:

  • New lap top w/ external drive PROBLEM!

OK, I have read pretty much every topic I can and cant find an answer for my problem. So here it is:
I have a Dell laptop with a 30 gb internal drive. When i got divorced I took all my music and put it on an EXTERNAL 60 gb drive and it is full! All music and like 2 gb to spare.
My laptop got a bug and I backed up everything as far as documents and files, etc. So i reinstall my Windows XP os w/ service pack 2 and all the updates, norton av, itunes, etc. I take the Itumes that i copied over to the back up cd back in to my music, thinking that i can plug my ipod back in and all the files havent changed and im ready to go.
NOPE! ALL of my music has an exclamation point next to it and asks if i want to go find it. I have a 40 gb ipod with 6500+ songs. No i dont want to do that. I dont have enough room on my drives to 'consolidate' it.
What are my options?? i have put allot of time into editing my playlists AS i listen to them. i have tried everything i can think of. I even went into the apple store TWICE and talked to tech support and they all told me to do what i did and it should have worked!
Any help to get rif of this head ache and I will put you on my xmas card list!

Yes, i do have the ENTIRE itunes original folder. Thats why this is so frustrating. But the Advanced tab olny looks for the "iTunes Music folder location". It doesnt let you open it and specify 'where' the songs are, it just assumes that they are in the iTunes folder.
Here is the first bit from my .xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
         <key>Major Version</key><integer>1</integer>
         <key>Minor Version</key><integer>1</integer>
         <key>Application Version</key><string>5.0.1</string>
         <key>Music Folder</key><string>file://localhost/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Franz/My%20Documents/My%20Music/i Tunes/iTunes%20Music/</string>
         <key>Library Persistent ID</key><string>A3CD996E81EBAE0F</string>
         <key>Tracks</key>
         <dict>
So you can see that it points to the c:\documents and settings\franz\my documents\my music\ itunes\itunes music
Thats where i have my itunes folder and can figure out how to point everything. I have an idea tho. i will post back in a bit.

  • Bootcamp 5 driver problems

    Hello.
Upgraded OS X to 10.8.3, installed Windows 8 Pro 64 bit on a Macbook Pro (late 2011).
Everything runs smoothly apart from the drivers. When I try to install bootcamp 5 installation it will fail with a BSOD and error "SYSTEM_UNHANDLED_EXCEPTION". I tried to install drivers one by one and i noticed that this error appears when installing ATI graphics card drivers.
Also, despite that the rest of the drivers are installing correctly I noticed a yellow exclamation mark on bluetooth device when navigating to Control Panel -> Device Manager. Status mentions that the installed driver might be not suitable for the device..
I'm using Bootcamp version 5 (released March 2013).

wow - this is my story also... I have been up and down the street with my MSI 6800GTs (in SLi) and they do not OC worth a damn... I am pretty bummed out due to the money, time, blood, sweat, and tears I have shovled into this rig and I only get stock...  essentially... I have tried all the OC'ing utilities, different power supplies, volt modding... and I think it's got to be some bios setting or maybe the one piece GPU memory cooler design... the GPU and memory both heating this thing... I don't think it works that well... honestly... I have been around the net, on many forums... and the only peeps who have /any/ luck with OC'ing these MSI 6800GTs are water cooled... anyways... I have spent soooo much time on this and for that reason alone I doubt I will be buying MSI products in the future, but I would still like to find a solution which allows me to push my $900 worth of video cards to ultra speeds.   I am really considering going with water cooling... but I really don't want to deal with the hassles of it right now... what I would really like to find or buy are some 6800 Ultras reference design coolers to install on my GTs... I think a lot of this inabillty to OC well is heat related... I know I can get 10mhz more out of my cards when my room is cool....  I have a LOT of air on these cards... and good ventilation... I have my system stats in another post on this forum entitled "nx6800GT OC issues in SLi" or something like that.  Good luck man, and I will let you know if I find a solution for this.

  • GP60: After installing new NVIDIA driver, no brightness controls work now.

Hey guys! I have a small problem I'm hoping someone might know how to fix. I just installed a new NVIDIA driver update (I'm now on build ) and now my brightness controls won't work. My computer is stuck in a very bright setting, and I don't know how to fix it. I've restarted the computer, and I've put it into hibernation and restarted it.
Before i did the hibernation, my computer was stuck in GPU mode (it would only use the GPU, even if all I was doing was using PowerPoint). The hibernation/restart fixed that, but not my brightness. Not sure if the problems are related, but throwing that in there too just in case.
I also don't know if this is related as well, but my NVIDIA control panel will not work either; it says that I don't have a display that uses it or something like that. Again, probably TMI, but better safe than sorry!
I'd appreciate any advice that I could get! Thanks!
    Specs:
    MSI GP60
    intel i5-4200
NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M/2 GB DDR3 (my problem child today).
Update: Now my computer is back in GPU-only mode and nothing is helping it swap out of it. I'm thinking the two are related now...

Have you installed the Intel graphic driver?
The hot key for brightness is controlled by EC & Intel graphic driver.
Please refer to the product webpage to download the latest Intel graphic driver:
    http://www.msi.com/search/gp60/product/1
Pick your model and select Download and your OS type to find the drivers.
