  • NEW FORUM DESIGN: Post Feedback Here

Posting everything in one place will allow Comcast to better monitor what feedback is given.

andyross Member Since: ‎10-17-2003 Posts: 3,647 HORRIBLE Forum updateShare Topic Options Subscribe to this discussion  Are you deliberately trying to make the forums so hideous that nobody will use them? The subject text is so tiny, I can barely see it, plus it's virtually impossible to see the difference between read and unread. The subject listings have a huge amount of wasted space between them. You could double the number of on-screen lists (or shorten the scrolling) if you cut it down. There used to be a link on the right that would take me back to the Bookmarks page (what I use as a home page for these forums.) No easy way to get back there that I can see, other than directly from my browser bookmark. At least the text entry seems to properly work with Firefox.   Posted on :‎03-09-2015 05:22 PM    Kudos  0ReplyFollow Options      ResponsesReply     Posted byWelcome_to_Post Member Since: ‎07-02-2003 Posts: 5,381   *sigh*  Happens every.  Single. Posts are no longer numbered. About the only things that are good are that the toolbar features when replying now work with SeaMonkey and Firefox and other browsers AND the default font size seen when composing a reply is big enough to easily see instead of being teeny tiny as it was before. Yippee!!! No more nose prints on the screen when trying to see what I was composing.

  • Posted new Mainstage vids on Youtube...feedback welcome

    Hi,
Just in case anyone is interested in this topic, I posted a couple of vids on YT showing how to automate Mainstage via Logic Pro using the IAC driver.
I posted the "what" I did, will do the "how" next but just wondering to what level to take it to? Any feedback is appreciated. i.e. after watching the video is the "how" already obvious?

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for taking the time out to reply..greatly appreciated!
Yes, you're dead on...my point was to create interest and awareness of this method as an option and maybe spark us into using it creatively and productively. Might not work for everyone but it's food for thought.
I agree on the MIDI Pipe option, on top of what you said, I found it kinda confusing but maybe that's just me
On your item 1) about not being in control, you're right and I totally understand...I use an external controller to stop/start the sequence wherever I want. I think it depends on the implementation as well...I have multiple songs spread over different tracks and just arrange a group of tracks by song and then mute/position what I want or don't want. The other way is to spread them out horizontally and run your sequence by position. Or have separate Logic files, there are lot's of ways to do it. The interesting thing is that if you mute let's say a PC track(s) Logic just doesn't send out the MIDI data...kinda handy. Might be a bit on the manual side, but at least I have an option available to me that I never had before
On 2) I'm running 4GB (nothing crazy) on my 2.16Ghz Core 2 duo iMac...works just fine.
On 3) On the how...yeah, you're exactly right, I haven't done the "how to" video yet - will try to do over the next day or so and post. But the short answer is just create a track for an external instrument, click the Library tab in the media browser and the IAC Bus created through Audio/MIDI setup will be listed there, choose that. Then just add in the MIDI events via the Event browser/editor.
    Thanks again for your feedback!

  • Resetting a new Mac to play the Welcome video at first launch

I just bought a refurbished MacBook Air to give as a present and I wanted to go ahead and get it charged and updated to iLife 11. Now (if it's possible) I would like to reset the MacBook so that when it is unwrapped the recipient (who has never owned a Mac) can have the "Welcome" experience that you get with a new Mac. Is that something I can do or not?

Not sure if this works with new versions of mac OSX, but take a look here:

  • New macbook pro release,  feedback response.

i've recently been trying to open a dialogue with Apple about my recent purchase of my macbook Pro, any ideas how best to get in touch or get a response?
I sent the following letter to both Irish and US offices but haven't heard back other than a general email requesting I fill in a survey, which I did, but still no response even though they "love feedback".
Any ideas who I can get in touch with? or anyone had a similar issue with a better outcome?
    letter sent as below:
    Hello
I recently purchased a mac book pro which I had been saving for, for months.
I was really excited to order it and I specked it up as much as possible with 8Gb Memory and 7200rpm drive and 3.06 intel core 2 duo processor.
Bought through my employee purchase scheme it cost me £2311.23, I was happy to spend it knowing that I’d got the fastest mac book pro available.
My partner and I are both designers working in graphics and we own and use nothing but Mac’s for this both at home and at work, between us we now own 3 Mac book Pro’s, 1 G5 2 iPhones and 2 iPods.
We count ourselves as loyal Apple customers and we really believe in your brand and it’s standard of quality, not only when it comes to products but service too.
I think this is why I was so disappointed to find out that 19days after my new Macbook Pro was delivered on 26th March Apple brought out a new one, with no prior warning.
It was my understanding that Apple had countdowns before new products were launched but there seemed to be no announcements of this new version being forthcoming on your site or any forums, when I was looking into purchasing mine. So I’m saddened to find that a mere few weeks after buying my Mac a better faster version is available and for less money too at £1986.93 (a saving of £324.30)
Unfortunately after telephoning one of your customer service advisors - on 14th April, I’ve been informed I cannot exchange my Mac for the newer release as I am 5 days past the return terms. This understandably leaves me feeling incredibly saddened as I placed my trust in Apple and the honesty of the brand to be rewarded with a more expensive, out of date Mac book Pro a few weeks after I took delivery of it. I feel a bit cheated, especially after spending so much money it feels as though I’ve been willfully mislead by apple and now I’m left without any option but to like it or lump it. Couldn’t Apple have informed me of their forthcoming new release when they saw the order I was putting through, and allowed me to decide if I wanted to wait for the newer and cheaper model. It feels slightly dishonest to me that Apple would knowingly sell a more expensive product that was about to become outdated.
I understand that it’s within Apple’s rights and the terms I agreed to on purchase, but I feel as though given that I’m a loyal home and professional user of Apple products some sort of gesture of good will would go a long way to re-establish my trust in Apple.
I hope to hear from you soon concerning this matter.

Prouser: If it was your understanding that Apple regularly provided "countdowns" prior to the launches of new products, you were sadly and utterly mistaken. Apple is famous throughout the industry and the world for its secrecy about new product releases. Always has been. Probably always will be. Should Apple completely shut down sales of its current products by preannouncing the arrival of their replacements? If it did, the new models would have to be priced higher to offset the cost of remaindering existing inventory of the previous models.
Everyone understands that technology marches relentlessly onward, growing more powerful and less expensive at every step. No matter when you buy, whatever you've bought will be succeeded by something faster and cheaper within weeks or months. How long would you have had to own your new MBP before a new model appeared, in order not to feel cheated? 21 days? 35? 60? Four months? A year? My first-generation unibody MBP is now 16 months old. Should I be outraged that Apple has introduced not one, not two, but three new iterations of 15" MBPs since I bought it? Well, I'm not. That's because I paid what I thought was a fair price for it when I bought it, and it did then and still does today everything I bought it for and more. The same can be said of yours. You got a great computer at a price you considered fair. Be happy about it.

  • New to knowledge management

    Hi
Iam new to this knowledge mangement in portal...Iam not able to see the knowledge management tab in the portal,,,Please help which role i need to add to this  user. Please provide the step by step documents  . What are the features , advantages of Knowledge management.what are all cases we will use this KM.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Sushma

    Hi Sushma,
Knowledge management & TREx are installed comes along with portal. We cannot install KM on its own.
The main advantage of KM is to store the files and documents in a structured manner as per your requirement. TREX is a search engine which helps in searching the doucmetns in KM content.
Collaboration is a feature where all portal users can connect each other and share their views based on the collaboration rooms, sending mails from portal, messenger service. etc.....
For KM Configuration with TREX Integration
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/706d054d-da24-2b10-f18a-fc82faf6468e
Knowledge Management, TREX, and Collaboration How-to Guides for SAP NetWeaver 2004
Once KM & TREX is installed, you can see the KM content tab under  content Administrator role. In Km content you can see various standard repositories which comes along with KM installation. You can create your own KM repositories in portal. For that search in SDN, you will get lot of documents.
You can also work with collaboration like room is created based on room templates. The content in the room will be stored in the KM content dynamically.
    Hope that helps you.

  • New Buyer: Educated MAC users welcome Rumors

I am new to Mac. I have had several PC's crash on me and I need something reliable. I hope I am making the right switch by going to Mac, correct me if I am wrong. After doing some research I am very close to buying an iMac, but there are several rumors that are quite concerning:
Should I wait for the expected Ivy Bridge upgrade in iMacs?
I know the current chip is sufficient for my use, but is it about to become obsolete?
Being a student, cost is a factor. Is there a chance to get an "older model" for a steal of a price?
Will there be a price jump? If not, I can wait
Will there be abundant updates and I will wish I had waited?
Should I wait for the release of OS Mtn. Lion or buy today and hope for an upgrade?
I have read several reviews of OS Lion and there are many unsatisfied buyers.
Are these people justified? Or just ignorant and impatient?

    Hello & a warm welcome!
If you get an iMac, be sure to get the extended 3 year AppleCare.
is it about to become obsolete?
Sort of, it's the way technology works, many Macs from 4 years ago won't run ML/10.8
Will there be abundant updates and I will wish I had waited?
There will be updates, & likely whenever it/they come out you'd wish you had one.
Should I wait for the release of OS Mtn. Lion or buy today and hope for an upgrade?
Personally, I would not buy a Mac that couldn't run 10.6.8 or older, 10.7 & up are for people that live on an iPhone, that being said, if my only choice was today's iMac that can run 10.7 or 10.8 and tommorrow's Mac that can only run 10.8, I'd choose today's Mac... or yesterday's!
I call OSX beyond 10.6.8... iOS7 & iOS8 and the beginning of death for usefilness of computers, but not quite as bad as Windows8® yet

  • New beta features (July) - feedback please

Since we launched the site redesign back in June, we've heard a lot of feedback from active Kuler members.  And, we took your feedback to heart. Today, we're happy to be able to share several changes we've been working.  Some of these changes are no-brainers and we're making them available to everyone.  Others need a bit more refinement--so, we're looking for input from you.  In this post, I'll explain what's changed and how you view/use the new features.  Please reply to this post to share your feedback.
Features enabled for this group: (click this link to view the features: https://kuler.adobe.com/features/enable/newFeatures)
We have created a special link to give you access to new features (new feature link)--without this link you won't be able to see the new features.  This link will allow you to use the site, same as before, but will also enable the new features that we're looking for feedback on.  So, here's an overview of what's new:
    (1) Create themes from an image: You can create themes from an image stored on your device.  Here's how: from the the Create page (color wheel), you should see a camera icon above and to the right of the color wheel. Click the icon and you will be asked to select an image from the file picker.  Select your image and start picking colors.
    (2) Resizing the color wheel: You can resize the color wheel to make it small or keep it large.  And, the site will remember your preference. Here's how: hover over the color wheel on the create page and your cursor will change to a magnifying glass with either a "+" or a "-" symbol.  If you click the wheel you can make it smaller or larger.  Large is good for selecting the right hue and small for viewing color interactions on your theme.
    (3) Smaller borders (and the ability to remove the white "active" border):  We've reduced the size of the borders so they don't get in the way.  We've also made it possible to remove the "active" color selection when editing on the color wheel.  Here's how: while viewing the color wheel, click on the dark grey portion of the page above, below or to each side of the color wheel.  You can now see your theme without any "active" border.
    (4) Easier to find color space data (e.g. RGB, CMYK, etc.): several people had some trouble finding all the color spaces (e.g. RGB, CMYK, LAB, HSB).  So, we added a hover effect that will automatically expand the color space data when you mouse over it.  If you prefer to work in a specific space and don't want it to keep expanding, you can stop the expanding feature by clicking  on the white triangle.  That will contract the menu and will make the last space you edited the default.
Features available to everyone: (no special link required to view)
    (5) Save changes dialogue: many of you mentioned the new site would not give you a choice to save a new theme or overwrite an existing theme after editing.  That's now fixed.
    (6) Tab order: a few people mentioned tabbing through color spaces was tedious.  You asked us to allow you to tab through each color in a single space (e.g. RGB) before moving on to a different color space (e.g. CMYK).  We've made this change.
    (7) Instant saving: Saving a theme was taking a couple seconds--which was too long. We've updated the save feature to be much quicker.
That's it for now.  We're working on a bunch of other features and we plan to share those on the forum in the coming weeks.  We look forward to reading your feedback!

Just had a quick look, so my (first) comments are just about the new/fixed features. I only took a look at my laptop with small screen, so I would have to check on a bigscreen computer, tablet and iphone to give complete advice. And checkout more of course.
So, for now on small screen laptop:
    (1) Create themes from an image:
    (a) Choosing picture: You can only pick a picture on your disk. Why not from the web? That's a missing.
    (b) Working: After picking it seems to work allright, but I haven't used it until now.
    (c) Activate camera icon: It takes a while (3 sec) before responding. That's too long, looks like it isn't responding.
    (2) Resizing the color wheel:
    (a) covering colors: Hurray! Very nice to get rid of the wheel in front of my colors.
    (b) magnifying glass: recognizable and it works. Good option.
    (c) changing magnifying glass in a colorpicking +symbol:  To my surprise that works good. When hovering over the colorpickers it and I used it without thinking.
    (d) remembering settings: Nice! But will it remember my settings on a different computer? I have to try.
    (3) Smaller borders (and the ability to remove the white "active" border):
    (a) Smaller borders: Nice, just small enough to notice and not disturb too much
    (b) remove the white "active" border):  Smooth!
    (4) Easier to find color space data (e.g. RGB, CMYK, etc.):
    (a) Expanding: Not very fond of the constant expanding. I would prefer to choose a preference when working on a theme.
    (b) change default color space: That's a good option, but still it expands to all spaces when hovering over it.
    (5) Save changes dialogue:
    (a) dialogue: works fine
    (b) naming the theme: the name is still default, you have to give a name afterwards, by editing. Why not ask for a name when you save the first time or save a copy?
    (6) Tab order: works fine, tab and shift-tab
    (7) Instant saving: Saves quickly

  • New beta features (August) - feedback please

We've added a few more beta features for you to check out.
    (1) Re-order swatches: You can re-order the colors in your swatch simply by clicking and, while continuing to press down, drag the color to the desired location.  Give it a try and let us know what you think.
(2)"Slider" editing controls: Previously we had one slider that controlled the brightness level of your color — we've added a slider control for each value in the color space you are editing.  For example, if you are working in the RGB color space, you will see a slider control for "R", "G", and "B".  For RGB, you will see a 4th control, set apart from the others, that allows you to control brightness.  Each control provides a visual spectrum which will allow you to visually edit your colors with more precision.
Note, we are still working out a few performance issues for these features on the Android default browser and Windows surface.  Ideally, you will have access to another browser to test these features on.
In addition to the beta features mentioned above, we've also rolled out several features which were previously in beta.  Those features include creating themes from an image, resizable color wheel, and less distracting borders.
That's it for now.  We look forward to reading your feedback!

    Looking better and better!
I am testing in Google Chrome in Windows
    1) Reorder Swatches - this works as described. Click, drag and drop. It will be good to have this feature back. On the down side, sometimes changing the base color causes the swatches to reorder... and sometimes the button to set the base color does not respond at all while the swatches shuffle. It hasn't been consistent enough to track down a cause.
    2) Slider editing controls - good to see these back, too! These greatly speed coarse adjustments to colors, while using the cursor keys in the number fields allows for finer deatail control of the number. Seems to work as intended with my brief testing. A possible option would be to have a toggle to switch between the Full sliders and the brightness slider for those that preferred the other way or that simply wish to simplify/minimise the appearance (I like the full slider control, but at times could see the simpler view beneficial as an OPTION).
Thanks for the opportunity to preview these features!
    -mt
    Edit:
Another thing that seems to work better now is the list of color spaces. It no longer jumps open on hovering over it. I like that it retains the view setting (open to full list or 'minimized' to HEX + 1) regardless of the pointer hovering over it.
Feature request: On the sliders, perhaps you can add/enable a set of sliders for the hex values?. Perhaps add an option to minimize the color space list to only hex values?. This could be beneficial for those that work in hex color values only. And, since this is all hypotheical for now, perhaps a toggle to enable or disable a limit to web-safe colors when tweaking hex values via sliders?

  • New keyboard, the physical feedback sucks

    Hello,
There are a few things I want to point out about the new keyboard introduced after the X220, T420, W520 serie that me and some friends are quite unhappy about.
The shape of the key has changed so that they are now flat. On the older ones the key had a curvature so that we could locate where we were on the keyboard without looking at it. Now misspelling happens much often because of that. I often hit capslock instead of a because my hand shifts and I can't correct because of the lack of physical feedback.
The trackpoint buttons are flat : same thing here. We used to know how far we were from the middle-click button just by putting a finger on the button. We could then locate the keyboard keys easily.
Now that those buttons are totally symetric by translation, we can't do that anymore, which is very annoying.
Plus the three buttons are now physically less distinguishable that before.
The Fx keys aren't separated, again, lack of physical feedback
All sound buttons are MISSING. I use F keys, and I don't want to press Fn to change the volume of the sound, very annoying.
The pgUp and pgDown are placed in a completely weird place : When placed vertically I used to hit pgUp with the fingers that are on the right part of my hand and pgDown with the finger of the left part of my hand. Now they are reversed.
Plus I want them to be placed vertically.
There is room for an extra row, Why delete keys instead of introducing more ? As a developper, it's always better to have more keys to bind. There is NO WAY I can prefer less keys.
Some key combinations are not working anymore : I use mod4+Shift+right and mod4+**bleep**+left. This is totally broken. The first combination doesn't work because when I hit right it doesn't trigger the righ key event but it does release the shift and mod4 key. Have you tested your stuff before selling them ? Because this is really bad for a thing that cost 80 euros.
    where is insert ?
where are the back and forward buttons ?
Where is the Menu button (I use that all the time for auto correct)
Why is printscreen in this place ? I hit menu button much more than printscreen. This doesn't make any sens.
The delete key is on the right of backspace. It was much easier to reach when is was on the left because it fit's the shape of a normal hand : when the fourth finger is on the backspace key, the third finger is automatically on the delete key (one row above, on the left). And since the button was big and there was a hole on the left, there was no way to hit it wrong... now it's MUCH less comfortable because when I want to hit delete, I have to go much farther. The type editing is now slower.
The new layout is so bad that it is a downgrade. There was no reason to change the keyboard from the 20 series. They were the best ones.
I wish that all the missing buttons came back. I also wish that the design of the keyboard focuses more on the physical feedback instead of how it looks. Because I don't care about how my keyboard looks, it's a thing that I use with fingers. not eyes.
One more thing : the thinkLED was a much brighter idea that the backlight : It's much simpler and is very useful to light other stuff around the keyboard. I'm very unhappy on it's disappearance.
There is one last thing : it's about the USB keyboard... The palm rest is too small. I know that the keyboard looks better without the palm rest, but when I use it on my legs, it's much more comfortable to have a big palm rest so that the keyboard doesn't fall. I'm now using an USB keyboard (with the crappy layout) because I like to have the keyboard on my legs and also because the guy who bought it left it in the room I'm in right now.
I am seriously disappointed with those new stuff and I want the old keyboard back. I'm particularly unhappy because there is now no one selling anything like that for now. It's not easy to find the old keyboard too...
The only thing I agree is about the blue button... it sure was useless by default, BUT I did bind that specifically because it was useless.
Don't remove keys. This is BAD. Don't make everything flat, I don't want to look at my fingers.
I know I'm repeating myself, but that's now three generations of thinkpads and the 20 series keyboard is still much better. Going back would be an improvement ! Don't keep like this.  I know a gut who wanted to buy an X220 keyboard to put it on his X230. I've seen nobody that prefers the new layout. Everyone agree on the fact that the new layout is bad compared to the old one.
I wish at least to have a choice between the new and the old layout.
    Have a nice day though

It's something to do with the speech preferences. If you specified a key to activate the speech to read whatever you've highlighted, that particular key won't be typeable.
By sheer coincidence I chose 'z' as my key and so suddenly I couldn't do it on my keyboard, even though I could do shift-Z. Once I turned off that setting in the Speech preferences or changed the key to one that I rarely ever use (e.g. `) it was fine.
So it's not the hardware. I tried on two keyboards, one of which I knew was working from my old computer.

  • How do I get past the "What's New in iTunes 10.3" welcome window in the iTunes Store? (OS 10.4.11, iTunes 8)

Hello. I have iTunes 8 on a MacBook with OS 10.4.11. Everytime I try to access the iTunes Store, I get a "What's New in iTunes 10.3" window that I can't seem to bypass. Any suggestions?
    Lee

The update to iTunes 9.2.1 can be found here... I'm assuming you've already done this as this posting is well over a year old. so it's just for informational purposes.

  • TS3694 I have tried every suggestion regarding installing Apple Mobile Device on Windows 7. We had no problems until iTunes attempred to upgrade to the latest 10.6.3.25 version. Any new suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you.

We have tried dozens of times to uninstall and cleanout every file. Even tried opening perms on the filerepository. Tried installing with msiec and logged. iTunes will install but AMD will not so we cannot connect the phones and pods. Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciate because we are about to give up and maybe pay somebody to try to install it which is ridiculous. I can supply the install log if anyone is interested. Thank you.

    Hey thanks for replying.
    Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!
