New Operating System for PowerMac G4
Hi, I was wondering if I should install either Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger" or Mac OS X 10.5.8 "Leopard" on my PowerMac G4 Firewire 800 running Mac OS X 10.3.9 "Panther".
Hello, couple of notes that may help...
#1, if you need to run any OS9 Apps, 10.4.x is the highest OSX to support that using Classic.
#2, 10.4.11 will likely run faster better with that little RAM, & 10.5.8 really needs a better Video card to perfoem well.
10.5.8 will be possibly slightly better Security wise, but not by much.

I have an iMac with a 10.4.11 operating system. When I click on iTunes Store, I no longer get the iTunes screen, instead, I get a new iTunes download screen.

New operating system for old Tecra 8000
Hi all,
I just bought a Qosmio F10 and would like to give my old Tecra 8000 (P2 300Mhz, 8Gb, 192Mb RAM) to a friend. This computer is running very well on Windows 98 1st edition and I still have all the installation disks. I would like to reformat the hard drive in order to remove my identity, and upgrade the operating system to a newer version of Windows.
My questions are:
- Which operating system considering the low specs ?
- How do I reinstall Toshiba notebook features ?

you can try to install Win2000, Toshiba provides W2k drivers ad tools https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com in the Driver Download section!
W2k should run with 300Mhz, but I think it is very slow and not userfriendly with 192MB RAM!
In my opinion you should try to setup W2k ad check if it is fast enoug to wok, otherwise reinstall Win98 SE and the drivers and tools (also available at the posted link)

New operating system for iPhone5
My battery life is greatly diminished since I installed the most recent operating system, can I fix this problem?
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
Open the Settings App > Privacy > Location Services [turn OFF location services for those that you really don't need to use it. -
how do we download our operating system purchase from our email it was sent to?
You should have received a redemption code via email if you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion that would allow you to download the OS via the Mac App Store. If you purchased an earlier version it would come on discs, usually model-specific.

New operating system for iPhone?
Earlier today on cnbc web site they had an alert that on March 17th Apple was going to release a new OS for the iPhone. Anyone know anything more about this????

This doesn't indicate that firmware update 3.0 will be released on March 17. Last year at this time, Apple held a similar event to discuss firmware update 2.0 - to provide a sneak preview only, and released the iPhone/iPod Touch SDK. Firmware update 2.0 was not released on the day of the event. Firmware update 2.0 was not released until the middle of July. It was released for the first generation iPhone on the same day the iPhone 3G was released.
It will probably be the same or similar with firmware update 3.0, so I wouldn't expect it to be released next week. -

fix stalls and freezes in SettingsYou are not speaking to Apple here. We are all users like yourself. we cannot "fix" anything. Please describe which Settings area you are having problems with, what exactly happens and what, if any, error messages you receive.
one thing that cures ,any system errors is to reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot. -
New operating system with iphone 5 won't sync itunes
I downloaded the new operating system for my iphone 5, but now it won't let me sync itunes to my iphone 5. A prompt comes up saying that the iphone itunes hasn't been updated to 11.1 or later. When I try to update it on my phone, itunes says its already been done. Please help, any suggestions?

Want to upgrade my PowerMac G4 OSX 10.3.9 to newer operating system
I am a new user to Apple Support. I have an older PowerMac G4, Dual 800 MHz, 1.25 GB SDRAM. I am currently running 10.3.9 but am experiencing problems related to having an older operating system, such as syncing my new iPod, and viewing websites. Otherwise, all is working fine and I hate to mess with something that is not broken, but I would like to upgrade the operating system. I only have an internal CD drive, but do have an external DVD. I have never installed a new operating system before. Do I need to reinstall all the software as well? I do not have all of the original disks for the software I use daily. Also, I am told by Apple that they only have OSX 10.4 available on DVD, and I don't think I will be able to install these from my external drive. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about this upgrade? Thank you!

There are a couple of ways to handle this, but I'll suggest one, and others can suggest more.
You might start by replacing your CD drive with a DVD/CD Superdrive. Newegg.com sells the Pioneer DVR-115DBK (the latest model - which will probably burn faster than your QS is capable of) for about $30 + $5 s&h. The Pioneers are good drives and seem to work well with Macs. Installation has always been straightforward and not too difficult, although I just took a look at my newly acquired dual 800 QS and discovered they changed the procedure from the earlier models and I haven't quite figured it out yet.
You can get Tiger on CD if you search a bit, but you really should be up to date, mate, and be able to handle DVDs, and the Pioneer Superdrive is an inexpensive way to go.
You may be able to use your external DVD drive; someone else will know for certain.
To deal with a new OS, the easy way is to get a nice new Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM Hard Drive - 120GB with an 8MB cache - ST3120026A-RK is the old standard; ST31200815A is a slightly newer version which will work standing up, sitting down, or turned on its head. 120GB is considered small these days, and may be a little harder to find than larger sizes, but is the largest size your QS will recognise natively. To be able to run a larger HD, get an ATA-100/133 Acard 6280M (for Mac) controller card which will let you add up to four new larger drives of virtually any size (in case you want to download the uncut version of War and Peace) - only $60 at (you guessed it) Newegg.com.
You can then install your old software onto the new HD at your leisure, remembering that some of it may want an updated version. You can run two Hard Drives at the same time as master and slave, and choose which one you want to boot to. This is also helpful in case you suddenly decide you want another Mac: you can just swap in one of the HDs and you're in business. (this is what I do)
You should also be able just to install Tiger on your existing Hard Drive. I'll let someone else explain, since I might miss something.

Since I upgraded to the new iOS 7 operating system for my iphone, I can no longer adjust the volume on my alarm. No matter what setting the volume of my phone is my alarm is always full blast. Since I hate being startled awake, what can I do?
Go to your home screen, and then press the volume down or up button. It should say Ringer instead of volume. If it doesn't do that, try going into the clock app and try it there.

Okay I use iPhoto 6 on an older mac and don't want to upgrade past 10.4.11. Can I upgrade iPhoto without the newer operating system? For the life of me I can't get iPhoto to recognize my camera reliably - although it does sometimes. Any advice, help?
The latest version of iPhoto which can operation with OS X 10.4.11 is iPhoto 7 which is part of iLife 08. You might be able to find a copy of iLIfe 08 on Amazon.com or Ebay.com.
iLife 08's full system requirements are:
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 processor
iMovie ’08 requires a Mac computer with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0 GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9 GHz or faster)

You may be logged into iCLoud and the iTunes/App stores on separate accounts, or he may have downloaded some apps on your phone and they need to be updated.

Update driver came from konica minolta - not through an Apple software update.
Konica M 1690MF will print as normal but 'image capture' is empty.Same problem. I emailed KM support. Was told new drivers were being considered. Not sure what that means. No date given. Have tried several 3rd party drivers, but none work. Would love for someone to post a solution.

Generally once Apple gives the official release date, then Macs have become available for up to date pricing. As long as just the season has been stated, there is no guarantee that Macs purchased during the season in question will get up to date pricing. So watch http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/ or http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ the day that the release date is announced. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns. Thankfully since 10.7's release Apple's full fledged releases have only been $20 USD, and updates are free to the full fledged release. I.e. 10.7.1 to 10.7.5 are updates to 10.7.
10.8.1 to 10.8.4 are updates to 10.8. It was only with 10.6 and earlier the distribution for each full release was at least $99 and up to date were around $20 going back to 10.2. 10.6 is though available on the Apple Store for only $20.
