New Oracle VM for x86 Reference Design

Greetings,
I've just posted an Oracle VM for x86 Reference Design at { *link removed* }
I'd welcome your comments about the Oracle VM for x86 Reference Design. For example, the comments that I've received has suggested that I add sections about Oracle Database Requirements, E-Business Suite Requirements, WebLogic / Fusion Middleware Requirements and Oracle Enterprise Manager Requirements.
Thank you,
Roddy

Greg,
That's a very good news !
And yes, according to the documentation several remarks have been taken in account (some I like during the App template first start), thanks for that.
At a first glance on the Peoplesoft OVM PSDB (the database template), there are still few minor issues :
1) As said earlier for the HCM template, CSS is not able to start (Failed to start CSS
2) More annoying, the DEFAULT profile for SYSADM and PEOPLE force a password change on the 23rd of August (180 days life, looks like the db has been built on the 24th of Feb). Is it possible to make it unlimited by default in the future template ? The DEFAULT profile was already a problem for HCM template as well. What will happen if template is started after that date ? Probably the appserv won't start without db modification (SYSADM and PEOPLE password life time
3) As said earlier for the HCM template, the database does not start automatically on server boot even if we choose that option during the first start of the db OVM.
I'll test the App/Batch/PIA sooni and come back.
Thanks again for the effort of implementing more Peoplesoft templates.
Nicolas.

Oracle VMS for X86 version 2 can upgrade to VMS version 3?A method?Need,
Now I don't want to go to my server, do not want to make too big movement, the need to upgrade the VMS, although Oracle 2 cannot be upgraded to 3.0.

    Thanks for any help
I think others have answered most of your questions, but you indicated that "iTunes 10 is for Intel Macs only" -- that is not actually correct, you can certainly run iTunes 10 on your G5 PowerPC. What you need to do is:
    (1) upgrade to 10.5 operating system
    (2) upgrade to iTunes 10
While Apple doesn't officially sell 10.5 anymore (Apple sells 10.6, but 10.6 won't install on your G5 PowerPC), if you call their 800 number and explain that you need it to use your new iPhone, they may be able to sell you a copy from old inventory. Alternatively, some retailers are still selling older inventory 10.5 install DVDs but you need the version that installs on any computer, many 10.5 disks are made for a specific model only.
Before you do either (1) or (2) above, make sure you have enough memory as indicated by Apple in their system requirements. If you need more memory, it is inexpensive to upgrade.

  • What Oracle binary for x86 Solaris ????

Is there even an Oracle binary available for Solaris on intel (X86, 32 bit architecture)?
Can someone tell me what, if any, Oracle instance is available for an Intel box (x86) running Solaris 8.
Thanks in advance for any help,

  • Oracle Lite for x86 Emulation

Oracle Lite ships with libraries for MIPS and SH3. I need to do my development on NT with VC++6.0 and a Windows CE Toolkit for VC++6.0.
I need Oracle Lite libraries for x86 emulation. How does one obatin these.
Are there any other emulators that I could use to develop on NT and finally deploy on a device running Windows CE.
Any experience with Oracle Lite emulation for Windows CE will greatly help.

Oracle 5.0.10 does not provide an x.86 emulator for CE.nt devices. Eventually this will be an Oracle tool that will be an extension of .net.

  • Can i get a new serial number for Adobe CS6 Design Standard for Students and Teachers?

I have had to re-install my Adobe CS6 Design Standard for students and teachers after having problems with my computer (MacBook Pro)
I am wondering if there is a way to access my old serial number from when I originally installed CS6, or do I have to start over again and get a new serial number?
    Help is greatly appreciated!!

You normally use the same serial number that you are first issued.  If you registered your product when you first installed it then you should be able to find your setial number available thru your Adobe account online.

  • New 2015 MacBook for Mobile Graphic Design?

I would love to buy the new MacBook. I am a graphic designer who is slowly moving over to front-end web development. I'm sure that even the 1.1 Core M in the new MacBook is more than capable for front-end web dev, but occasionally I do a bit heavier photo editing and design, specifically in Photoshop. I'm not looking for lightning speed here, as I have a hefty machine at the desk for heavier workloads, but I would like for the MacBook to be able to suit my mobile needs for at least a few years, and I hate being tied down to a desk. I'll upgrade every 3-4 years regardless, but will it last even that long, and will I just run into stress over the lack of speed? Obviously we can't know exactly how this thing will perform until tests are done, but I'd love to hear your opinions. Thanks.

Very few people have gotten their hands on the new MacBook and so far I've not seen any benchmark tests. The Intel Core M was designed to be extremely energy efficient and to run cool and aimed especially for tablets and Windows dual use computers. The MacBook also ships with only a 8GB RAM option. I have no doubts about the suitability of a new MBA for your tasks but the MB? I'd suggest taking a wait and see attitude.

  • Alternate cooling for GTX670 (Nvidia reference design)

    Introduction
Who owns a nvidia reference design GTX670 like N670GTX-PM2D2GD5(/OC) or GTX660ti most likely realized it performs well but unlike the superior N670 PE 2GD5(/OC) uses a quite cheap cooler with just little potential. If wanting to overclock that can be a sticking point. Best way to improve the card would be using an aftermarket cooler.
That seems not to be too tough looking at the card with mounted reference cooler as it looks to be possible to even use a big dual fan cooler.
Looking at the back of the card on the other hand reveals its very small pcb and the cards length being extended just by the cooler.
A possible solution is the Arctic Accelero Mono PLUS
    Disassembling Guide
To replace the cooler we have to disassemble the card ( this part of the guide will also help those just wanting to replace the thermal compound). That way we will also see why the Mono Plus is the best solution for a reference design GTX670/660ti.
The cooler is mounted with ten srcews on the back of the pcb. Those have to be untightened and the cooler can just be taken off.
The best way to do that is going by the markings in the following photo. First untighten the screws with green markings. Continue with the red markings. These are the screws around the gpu holding the heatsink. Untighten them in a cross pattern (e.g. upper right, lower left, lower right, upper left) to ensure no uneven pressure is applied to the gpu or pcb. After untightening red marked screws the blue one finally releases the cooler.
Just take the cooler carefully off as it's fan cable is still attached to the pcb. It needs to be removed and disassembling is done.
After disassembling it is obvious how poor the reference cooler is compared to the Power Edition one. The reference design just uses a simple aluminium heatsink with copper base. There are no heatpipes at all. The memory is not even cooled by airflow.
Due to the compact design the VRMs need to be cooled by a huge aluminium heatsink in an awkward place. Any dual fan cooler or bigger will collide with it preventing to mount all high-end solutions. Replacing it on the other hand is not recommended as VRM cooling is crucial and none of the small glue-on heatsinks coming with aftermarket solutions can compete with the reference heatsink. The perfect aftermarket cooler therefor allows to keep the reference VRM cooler.
Not surprisingly at this point of the topic that perfect cooler is the Mono Plus.
    Mounting the Mono Plus
The Mono Plus is already preapplied with high quality Arctic MX2 thermal compound so we don't need to worry about that. All we need to do is mounting it.
Also we don't need to worry about the tiny memory heatsinks  because we don't need those. What we learn from the reference design is that memory cooling isn't critical. Just a bit of airflow that the Mono plus will supply in any case is already a big improvement and by far sufficient.
First we need to prepare the cooler with rubber spacers. There are two sets of four spacers and we need the slim ones.
Strip them off and stick one on the outer mounting hole of all four corners of the cooler
Now we can connect the fan to the cards pcb. This way the cards automatic fan control or manual control via Afterburner will stay fully fuctional. Also the gpu needs to be cleaned of remaining old thermal compound.
Now we can prepare the four screws with the red ring washer.
The screws will hold the heatsink using the four mounting holes around the gpu (those with the red markings in disassembly guide). Like untightening one needs to make sure to thighten the screws in a cross pattern.
    DONE!
Although the card looks a bit odd now the results are great. While gpu was running at 83 - 85°C under gaming load (Crysis 3) before it is now not exceeding 59°C in my secondary machine. The noise level is also a lot lower creating a silent gaming vga. Also the annoying fan speed up sound under load almost vanished.
A possible problem for slim cases could be the increased height of the card due to the massive cooler. Who is wondering if the Mono Plus will fit should check Arctic's >>Height Restriction Drawing<<

    yes, it is

  • IMac for a Graphic Designer?

I am currently shopping for a new iMac system for my Graphic Design needs and would like to get feed back form the community on a few topics. I am thinking about getting the 21.5 iMac with 8GB's of ram.
Would this be enough to handle Photoshop, Illustrator, and Cinema 4D softwares? I am going to get a external hard drive to store my files on to save hard drive space, any recommendations for that?
Is there an option to upgrade the ram in the 21.5 iMac to say 32 GB's (as I heard you could)? I am currently using a mid-2010 MacBook Pro with 4GB of ram and it's beginning to lag a bit. The screen size isn't really that great either being it's only 15 inches.
So any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    - KidHTML

As you have a specific and well-defined need I would work backwards:
Determine what software applications you will need, then figure out which model and configuration of iMac can handle them in the best possible/fastest way, particularly if you have them all open at once.
Also, depending on what kind of graphics you deal with, decide what screen size you really need.
    Then talk to your bank!

  • New Oracle Home

    Hi,
During installing Oracle Software, i got some error and aborted midway.
Again, when i restart, the system check fails with below error.
I don't want to choose a new home. I want to reused the same home given during the failed installation.
I guess it is reading from the inventory. But, since i have CRS installed and have common inventory, i dont want to delete the inventory.
How can i tackle this prolem ?
Checking for Oracle Home incompatibilities ....
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 can only be installed in a new Oracle Home
Recommendation: Choose a new Oracle Home for installing this product.
    ========================================================

I am assuming that you are pointing the new Oracle_home for Oracle10gR2 to a different location than your CRS. Try using the DEINSTALL option of the Installer to clean up the failed install and retry your install. Make sure you select the failed Oracle_home to deinstall.
    Thanks

  • What functionality, Ops Center w/ OVM for x86?

    Greetings,
Could you please explain what functionality Ops Center brings for Oracle VM for x86, i.e. is it anything like the OEM 12c Virtualization Plug-in? Is there any value, is it any better than an open source solution like eucalyptus???? Could you share any screen shots?
My understanding is that Ops Center is going away, i.e. in to OEM 12c, is it worth the time to setup?
Have you setup and used the Linux patch management functionality in Opes Center? If yes, is there any value????

You will have to configure Secure TCP (TCPS) for Oracle VM Manager (Doc ID 1456338.1)
Your OVMM is listening on port localhost.localdomain:54321 it should be listening on *.54321.
The only way to get it working is to configure a secure TCPS. This will allow your OVMM to listen on *.54322
Remember when you add the OVMM asset select port 54322 and TCPS.
    Good luck.

  • Problem creating a new Glassfish 4 server with Oracle Tools for Kepler

    Hello,
I installed Oracle Tools for Kepler with no problem. But when I want to create a new server and fill in the directory to the server (which is valid, C:/glassfish4/glassfish), nothing happens. I can only click 'back' or 'cancel'.
    There is no error message.
Is this a bug in Eclipse or Oracle Tools, or do I do something wrong ?
    Thanks in advance for help.

    Hi,
Could you let us know where you installed the GlassFish tools plugins from ?
Glassfish 4 support in OEPE has been available since Glassfish was released in June. But it looks like a bug may have been introduced in the latest build  available on  http://download.java.net/glassfish/ which does not exist in the version available at http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/oepe/12.1.2.1/kepler/repository
The workaround on the version you are running is to enter a dummy password value and this should allow you to create the Glassfish 4 server.
I will be filing a bug to track this issue
    thanks
