New OS Needs ALL Updates, Must Install Offline

I'm new to working in this field and I have just been assigned the task of collecting all updates for Windows 7/2008 R2 into a singular file so that every time we install a fresh OS, we can apply these updates offline. As you can imagine, for security
purposes the new OS is to remain offline indefinitely and no third party apps are allowed. I've found a WSUS Offline app, but since it's not from Microsoft or DISA it's no good. I have easy access to all 300+ updates via the DISA/DoD Repository, but
surely there is a faster way than: click link, find correct file, download file, repeat until eyes roll back into head and drool collects on the floor. I'm sure I'm not the first person in the world who has had to do this, any suggestions for getting about
half a decade of updates in a less mind-numbing way?

The idea is that we have hypothetically lost all of our backup images and have nothing from which to make an image. If you-know-what hit the fan and we had to rebuild a system from scratch, we would have yet another form of redundancy. Others are working
on finding things like Java and Adobe Flash, as well as our more unique programs for the same purpose, but since Microsoft updates require you have everything from the past to work I can't just find the newest installer and call it a day. Everything listed
under "Installed Updates" I need to find.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

HT1430 I have updated to iOS 7 but I really hate the "new look" of all my pre-installed Apps and the home scrfeen, dialling screen, contacts etc. It's really baby-ish and I would like to regain my previous appearance. Can I do this? If not can I uninstall

The new look iOS 7 is all "pretty" turquoises, lime greens and sky blue and the size of my Apps filed in their boxes are so tiny as to be illegible and the names in Contacts etc are allmuch, much smaller and totally impossible to read.
I absolutely hate it - it is not an "improvement"!
How can I go back to my previous settings, if at all?
If this is the way Apple is going then a completely different phone might have to be the way forward -surely we can have a choice - if Microsoft can continue to offer Classic as a look in windows, surely I can keep a classic iPhone appearance???
I am an older professional - I do not want a phone-screen which looks a like a jart of sweets - I want my highly organised, easy to read, filing system back please!!

Two mayor reason:
1) If you restore the backup in your iPad some file is corrupt or make conflict, but you have wipe your iPad and you have restore all the apps from zero, and nothing happend, try to wipe your ipad and try to install the email and your icloud account (if you have) and make a test, if working fine add one by one the other apps and test, when you find the apps give you a prob try to install all apps without this apps and make a backup for the future.
2) If nothing happend ask the test on a Genius Bar near you maybe is an hardware problem i think.

Problem with new 1.03 Color update? Media offline.

Hi.
I'm fairly new at using Color. I recently updated Color to 1.0.3.
and now I have a problem when I send a sequence from FCP to Color.
All the media (except graphics made in Livetype) are offline.
Before the update, everything was working fine.
Sending the project and exporting/importing a XML-file gives the
same results.
I have tried to reconnect the media, but it seems to do nothing
when I find the right clip and click "choose".
(I have some clips with variable speeds made in Final Cut, but
that didn't seem to be a problem in the earlier version. Worked just fine.)
I'm editing XDCAM 720p footage shot at 60fps.
Is anyone else having this problem? Does the update change some preferences
that I'm not unaware of?

You will not find Color 1.0.2 anywhere since Apple has released an update, unless someone has been good enough to take precautions and download the updaters first, save them, and then do installations. There is a preference within Software Update that you can first download the updates so you can then save them, then install.
Speaking of precautions, reading this thread, I'm just flabberghasted that folks don't do clones at all before updating. Had you cloned your system drive, you'd be back up and productive in less than an hour. Cloning a system drive is a well documented piece of system maintenance and it takes nothing but an investment in a harddrive (cheap these days), some free software and some time. Amazing.
That being said, certainly does seem to be a Sony-centric issue stemming from this update. You may check the other Color boards and Sony camera boards to see if other users are having these problems and if there are any solutions. You can also leave feedback for Apple. FWIW, I don't work with xdcam ex material so I've not been having these issues at all. As I said before, this update cured some ills I was having with Color and it works better than ever where I sit.

my computer was stolen and i need to get all my itunes purchases on my new computer how do I do that?

I found instructions on how to transfer from my IPod to my new computer but they involve making a copy on to my IPod from the original computer. I don't have the original computer anymore but I do have my IPod which is updated. How can I take what I have on my IPod and get it on to a new computer without having access to the original computer.

New employer needs website update. Upgrade of Microsoft Expression Web or use WordPress?

I have to update my new employer's outdated drab website.  I haven’t developed a website since Microsoft Expression Web in 2011. This is a small company of 10. They want no bells/whistles, just a static site.
Do I need to upgrade my Microsoft Windows Expressions, and if so, to what in order to accommodate all the new devices everybody's using. An IT friend told me to use WordPress, where I can get templates that will scale appropriately
for other devices. Any advice out there would sure help.

Wordpress and EW are apples and oranges. Both are fruits, but do they need a content management system and/or blog, or not?   If it's a simple site you will be developing, you can use EW. (It doesn't matter which version, but
the latest EW4 is completely free.) You can create a responsive site in EW, which is what you need for a site that is flexible across device sizes. Much as you can find already built Wordpress themes that are responsive, you can find templates

Relocating mp3s to new folders - need help updating library

I've moved my mp3's from being altogether in one folder to being in separate folders sorted by artist and then in sub-folders sorted by album.
The problem is that my iTunes library needs updating, now that the songs are in different directories. I could update each song individually and point the library link to the new file but this could take a long time with over 1000 mp3's.
So, is there a quicker, easier way of updating my library to reflect the changes in my mp3 folders?

Nope.
You're probably going to have to dump your playlists, ratings, placuonts, etc. and start your library over. You can do that by selecting everything in the library, hitting delete, and making sure not to move them to the Recycle Bin.
Then readd all of the folders.

Brand new Nano needs software update??

I just got a 2GB Nano for my wife and have it installed. it synced most songs just fine, but it did not download purchased music. It then says that not all songs could be downloaded because the software is too old. I checked on the Apple page and the Nano software is 1.0 and that is what is installed on the Nano. I tried to download the update and it doesnt load because it is already installed on the computer from my 3Gen iPod. Any ideas as to what is going on and how do i fix it??

I also am having exactly the same issue as James with my computer. In fact all of the music and free podcasts download to the Nano except music purchased from itunes. I am getting the same message to update my ipod software. On about every 5th download attempt it successfully loads the purchased music. All other automatic updates remove the purchased music and indicate that I require an ipod software update.
Thanks for the suggestions, Chris. I have also reset the ipod and deauthorized/reauthorized my account. Great idea, but not a solution for me. I too am running 6.0.1(3). I believe Apple should be concerned with this problem - a Nano that runs everyone else's music except that obtained legally through Apple I-tunes.

There are no preferences for Quicktime 10, only for QT 7.
Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
For anything like Flash videos you should use QT 7.

New Adobe Flash player update stops installing at 25%

I have the latest OS update on my mac
So I download the dmg, i double click the install adobe flash player button, I allow "open", I put in my password, and it starts installing but always freezes at 25%. Please Help!

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer, OR
Download the stand-alone installer posted at the bottom of the http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If the behaviour reproduces, please clear the browser's cache and try downloading again.

None. That's what threw me. It happened again right after I posted and I walked away from it. When I came back I started unplugging peripherals and found a wonky power strip switch. Go figure.

Appears that your migration transfered too much and has corrupted your Universal binary version of OS X with things from the PPC version on the G4. Unfortunately, the System Prefs may not be all that got transfered.

I've been tasked with the following..
When a client PC finished deployment of Windows 7, we need all updates to have finished deploying.
Meaning.. after TS completed no more updates should be required.
Today.. when a client PC finishes we have to run windows update to get a sh**load of updates..
I already use "schedule updates" to import "current" updates into my OS image..
During TS we install office 2013.. and there's a lot of updates for office... also we still have a lot of windows updates that need to be installed manually.
What do you guys do? how do you manage your updates?
Oh and just to clarify a little more.. I can add windows update steps to my TS.. but because of some of the updates needing double reboots.. it breaks the TS installation and we end up with clients in Provisioning mode...
Is it our version of sccm that needs to be updated? has there been any fixes to the update issue?

You can include Office 2013 into your reference image, and keep it updated. That will reduce the updates to be installed after the TS completes significant.
Regarding multiple restarts. Have you seen this?:
