New OVI Calendar web application syncronization is...

Hi @ll,
I don't know about you, but I can't sync calendar events back & forth since last week (when Ovi Calendar 1.6 went from beta to live).
No errors reported by the phone ovi sync app. It's just no calendar appointments being sent (contacts is working though).
I've even master-resetted my X6.. no way.
Are you experiencing the same? As a long-time Nokia supporter, I MUST think this is not a general issue in such an essential feature.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Just for the record, I have the exact same issue on my phone. Syncing from server to phone fails without any error message. (Phone to server is ok.) At least good to see that it's a server issue and not a problem with my phone...
What is it with these seemingly trivial calendar bugs that service providers aren't able to fix??? I wanted to use Google calendar's web interface on my previous phone, but it has a bug which prevents users from setting up reminders of any kind (I was hoping to have e-mail reminders mailed to my phone). This bug, which basically renders the interface totally unusable, has been around for a long time now, but Google apparently doesn't want to fix it.
I seriously don't hope we have to wait that long for a fix from Nokia. Without proper calendar synchronization I basically don't have any good reason to continue to use the phone.

  • Bug in OVI calendar (web)

     Hello
    I've found bug in OVI calendar (web).
    When I change date of events (Edit all event occurrences), or name of events, the date of changed event is not a valid date
    Ex.
    I have event: EXAMLE, 22-10-2009 (How often will it happen? - WEEKLY). Next, I changing date 21-10-2009 and... The date of events it is finally 23-10-2009.
    BTW: In google calendar it is OK.

    Both bugs still exist.
    When I create an all day event, initially it shows as a full day event for the correct day. When I check back later, the event is shown as full day for two days. Synced to the phone (N8) the events are displayed correctly.
    I am also unable to edit e.g. birthdays that started in 1980's. I get a message saying I need to edit the first instance.

  • Adding a secure, internal-only SharePoint Web application / Site collection in existing farm

    Hi,
    We are currently working on creating a new internal-only SharePoint site that will host sensitive information. We are planning the architecture to provide a secure environment to host this information in SharePoint. We will create the new web app on a separate
    database with encryption enabled TDE; we are also planning to encrypt the data through the SharePoint (Insert third-party vendor here) forms before it gets to the SP DB. And obviously, SharePoint permissions will be set accordingly.
    Additionally, we would like to have the site accessible
    only through our internal network and keep it off the DMZ.
    Our current SharePoint environment consists of two web-front end servers (load-balanced) externally exposed (DMZ), one application server and the SQL server both behind the DMZ (internal-only). Currently all of our SharePoint web apps are accessible externally
    through SSL.
    What is the best way to accomodate this new internal-only web application within our existing farm providing the security measures explained before?
    I am thinking  on adding an extra WFE server to the existing farm and put it behind the DMZ (internal-only) in a similar way as our application server is configured right now, but just serving exclusively this new internal site's content. I would then
    have the NEtwork guys to make the site accessible only to users logged-in internally in our network and through this new dedicated server only. My concern is that since all of our other web apps in the farm are exposed externally, and since the new server
    would be part of the same farm, that could be open doors for bad guys to access this information. Are there any other topology options I should consider? I have thought about creating a small (one-server only) new farm just for this purpose, but I am trying
    to avoid going that route.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you,
    Rob

    You're mostly going down the right track.
    A new web application in dedicated SQL DB and web application policies to deny all external accounts access to the sites will go a long way. You can also make sure that the DNS does not resolve externally.
    If you want security you will probably be building the web application on https alone, which is my preference for any farms these days. That might negate the need for your encrypted infopath system.
    However you cannot add a WFE to a farm and dedicate a web app soley to that server. Any server with the SharePoint Foundation Web Application role will host all web applications. You can steer traffic to one
    server or another but that's not really doing much for security. If it's on one WFE it's on them all. For that reason I would say that the standalone farm is the best, most secure, solution.
    All of what you've been describing will help with security but you'll have to spend hours testing connections, securing files and testing testing testing.  Whilst the standalone will just work.
    No, i don't know why that turned into tiny print either.

  • Best Server Role for Web Applications

    Hi,
    I'm running SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and using Microsoft SQL Server Manager Studio to administer it.  I have a web application that does read, add, update, and delete to the database and I am currently using the sa account - which is of course not
    a good idea.  I want to create a new user but I don't know what the best practice is for web applications and also security.  The options I have are:
    bulkadmin
    dbcreator
    diskadmin
    processadmin
    public
    securityadmin
    serveradmin
    setupadmin
    sysadmin
    Thanks.

    Hi mark_sti,
    Based on my understanding, you want to create a new user of the database. Using this new account, a web application could read, add, update, and delete the database.
    The options you provide are fixed server roles. For more information about fixed server roles, please refer to this article:
    Server-Level Roles.
    In this scenario, you need db_datareader fixed database role and db_datawriter fixed database role. Db_datareader fixed database role can read all data from all user tables. Db_datawriter fixed database role can add, delete, or change data in all user tables.
    To add two database roles, you should map the login to the database which is used by a web application in Login Properties. Then create a new database user, check Db_datareader fixed database role and Db_datawriter fixed database role on Membership page of
    Database User. About permission of different database roles, please refer to this article:
    Database-Level Roles.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best regards,

  • How to access deployed J2EE Web application ?

    Hi,
    I am new to J2EE Web Application. I have created a Web Module project and in that I have created a servlet. I did a build for WAR file. I have created an Enterprise Application Project and included this WAR file. I built  the EAP and deployed it to J2EE engine. I am successful till here.
    I am not sure how to access this deployed application and thus this servlet.
    I tried to access the following way :
    http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/<EAPName>/<ServletName>
    However, I receive the error no such location.
    In the web.xml file, in the servlet-mapping section, I have mentioned the servletname and urlpattern.
    I have mentioned the urlpattern as MyServlet and not /MyServlet. Notice the 'backslash'.
    Could this be an issue ?

  • CR4E license for web application

    Hello,
    INTRODUTION:
    Soon I'm going to start a new project as web-application. We need to find some solution for our reporting and PDF generation. We played a litlle bit with CR4E - very nice. We liked it. Then we tried to get know more about how much does it cost for us or owr client. And we are confused, because of very poor or not exact explanation. When it is about money there should be better explanation (maybe with examples).
    IS IT RIGHT?
    I'll try to explain what we understood:
    - CR4E is totally free when using it as development tool, so we don't need to pay for it anything (also client).
    - CR4E has limited possibilities for designing, so it is possible to buy CR2008.
    - Any client doesn't have to pay for CR2008. Only developer-company must do it.
    - And license for CR2008 is not related with the number of clients that will use these reports.
    MAIN QUESTIONS
    // so CR will be used in the completed product only for viewing the reports.
    - Do we (or our client) need any license if it web-application for client's internal use? So the application is opened only for the client's workers and contractors.
    - Do we (or our client) need any license if we create web-application as boxed product. So anyone can buy it.
    - Do we (or our client) need any license if client decides  to show some report PDFs outside their company. For example they will create some kind of user-portal.
    - Do we (or our client) need any license if client sends some PDFs outside (for example, invoices)?
    We are waiting for the answers, we need to start very soon. And still thinking of what tools using.
    Thanx.

  • Application-to-application authentication using Calendar Web Services

    Calendar Web Services
    Application-to-application authentication
    (Proxy authentication)
    Abstract:
    Application-to-application authentication allows services to trust other services without having to authenticate the end-user making use of these services. The Calendar Web Services offers an application-to-application authentication mechanism called “Proxy Authentication”.
    What is Proxy Authentication?
    The Calendar Web Services Proxy Authentication is a solution that was developed by the Oracle Calendar team and is similar to what SSO would be to the web. Proxy Authentication allows any application developed using the Calendar Web Services Toolkit to establish a trusted authentication link to the Calendar Server via the Calendar Web Services.
    What do I need to get Proxy Authentication going?
    -     The Calendar Web Services Toolkit 9.0.4.2.X (Calendarlet.jar)
    -     The Calendar Web Services 9.0.4.2.X (OCAS)
    -     The Calendar Server 9.0.4.2.X (Calserv)
    -     Oracle Internet Directory 9.0.4.X (OID)
    Your collaboration suite deployment MUST be configured in a way where the Calendar Server is connected to the OID (done by default). This is fundamental given that Proxy Auth is designed to extensively use the OID security schemes.
    How to configure Proxy Authentication?
    You must have:
    1.     Access to the OID administrator account.
    2.     Access to the ldap tools ($ORACLE_HOME/ldap/bin).
    3.     Access to the Oracle Calendar Server administrator password.
    OID Configuration
    Create an entry for your application product in OID
    The following entry needs to be created:
    - cn=OracleContext
    - cn=Products
    - cn=MyApplicationProduct
    The MyApplicationProduct.ldif will look like:
    dn: cn= MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products, cn=OracleContext
    objectClass: orclContainer
    objectClass: top
    The command to add the entry is
    ./ldapadd -h HOSTNAME.COM -p OIDPORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w PASSWROD -f ./MyApplicationProduct.ldif
    Where [HOSTNAME.COM] is the OID server hostname, [PASSWROD] is the password for the OID directory and [OIDPORT] is the OID port.
    Create an application entity for MyAppName in OID
    The following entry needs to be added to the OID:
    - cn=OracleContext
    - cn=Products
    - cn= MyApplicationProduct
    - orclApplicationCommonName=MyAppName
    The MyAppName.ldif will look like:
    dn: orclApplicationCommonName= MyAppName,
    cn= MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products,
    cn=OracleContext
    objectClass: orclApplicationEntity
    objectClass: top
    orclApplicationCommonName: MyAppName
    userpassword: test1
    The command to add the entry is
    ./ldapadd -h HOSTNAME.COM -p OIDPORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w PASSWORD -f ./MyAppName.ldif
    Ensure the entry is properly configured
    Perform an LDAP search to locate the entry's distinguished name:
    "orclApplicationCommonName= MyAppName,
    cn= MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products,
    cn=OracleContext"
    ./ldapsearch -h HOSTNAME.COM -p OIDPORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w PASSWROD
    -b "cn= MyApplicationProduct,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext"
    "objectclass=orclApplicationEntity" "c"
    Grant proxy privileges to the new application entity
    This creates an entry in OID:
    - dc=com
    - dc=oracle
    - dc=us
    - cn=OracleContext
    - cn=Products
    - cn=Calendar
    - cn=UserProxyPrivilege
    - uniquemember:
    orclApplicationCommonName= MyAppName,
    cn= MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products,
    cn=OracleContext
    From the $ORACLE_HOME/ocal/bin
    ./unioidconf -grantproxyprivilege \
    "orclApplicationCommonName= MyAppName,
    cn= MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products,
    cn=OracleContext"
    NOTE: you need the calendar server admin password.
    How to use Proxy Authentication?
    Once successfully done configuring your OID and Calendar Server, you must start the real work; coding. It is actually simple to implement.
    In your Java application, you will simply change the BasicAuth class with the ProxyAuth class. You then set the end-user identity, along with the proxy application name and proxy application password, you registered a moment ago.
    Ex:
    ProxyAuth auth = new ProxyAuth();
    auth.setApplicationName("orclApplicationCommonName=MyAppName, cn=MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products, cn=OracleContext");
    auth.setApplicationPassword(“test1”);
    auth.setName(myUserId);
    Your application will no longer need to pass the end-user’s password to the Calendar Web Services. From now on, it is your application’s responsibility to authenticate the end-user.
    Frederic Leblanc

    I found the solution:
    Using the CalendaringResponse.getReceiveBuffer() and getSendBuffer() methods, the soap request looks something like this:
    Sendbuffer: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <auth:ProxyAuth xmlns:auth="http://www.oracle.com/WebServices/Calendaring/Authentication/1.0/"><ApplicationName>orclApplicationCommonName=MyAppName,cn=MyApplicationProduct, cn=Products, cn=OracleContext</ApplicationName><ApplicationPassword>testpw1</ApplicationPassword><Name>king</Name></auth:ProxyAuth>
    </SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <cwsl:Search xmlns:cwsl="http://www.oracle.com/WebServices/Calendaring/1.0/"><CmdId>MySearchCommandID-1</CmdId><vQuery><From>VEVENT</From><Where>DTEND &gt;= '20061007T220000Z' AND DTSTART &lt;= '20061014T215900Z'</Where></vQuery></cwsl:Search>

  • New Web Application not creating correctly

    I'm having an odd occurrence happen about 50% of the time right now when creating new web applications during my migration from SP2010 to SP2013.
    During creating a web application in Central Admin, I can get through the first setup page, then get to the "This shouldn't take long" page and will sit there for 30+ minutes. I end up closing the window and will see that the Web application is there in
    Central admin, and sometimes the DB will be created, other times not, not a big issue since I'm mounting a sp2010 database to this web application.
    What I do notice is that either a IIS site will either not be created at all, or it will be created, but the Virtual Folder is empty. When trying to delete the Web Application through central admin or PowerShell it will hang for hours until the next day
    when it's finally deleted. During this time I am not able to create any other web applications. It's usually at this time that I can successfully create a new web applications but even that is unreliable.
    Has anyone ran into this issue or can suggest any workarounds to get this working? I'm wondering if copying the contents of another web application's virtual directory to the failed web application's virtual directory will be a workaround. I still need to
    verify if creating a web application through PowerShell gives me the same headache but at the moment I'm currently waiting for a web application to delete.

    Finally got this resolved after an 8 hour call with Microsoft. After finally getting the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service to restart (took 4 hours) We found that changing the Shutdown time in the Web Application Pool for the Central
    Admin pool to 400 allowed for the Web Application to complete successfully.
    I'm still confused to why everything is taking so long now to complete so i'll have to look into that next.
    Folks, this is a minor problem that seems to be creeping up more and more. I personally have performed over 8 installs in various environments. I have seen this issue in 6 out of the 8 environments I have created. All servers I have tried a variation of
    software. In MOST of my tests, this seems to be a problem. Not sure why they decide to recycle the App Pool just before they perform an "Virtual Directory Copy." Here are the results of my tests. I was very methodical in my testing and made sure these were
    clean downloads every time. As you will see, I tried variations of hardware increases, physical to virtual, database versions and patch levels...etc.

  • Create a new web application, how shall I update the file server.xml

    Hi,
    I will create a new web application, i.e named newApp. Then I create a file structure as follows:
    - <server-root>/newApp
    - <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF
    - <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF/classes
    Then I must tell the server that I have created a new web application. Then I must update my file server.xml, How shall I do this and where in the file shall I type in the new information?
    I use windows XP Pro, and Tomcat 4.1.27.

    You can also enable an SSL HTTP/1.1 Connector on port 8443 by
    following the instructions below and uncommenting the second Connector
    entry. SSL support requires the following steps (see the SSL Config
    HOWTO in the Tomcat 4.0 documentation bundle for more detailed
    instructions):
    * Download and install JSSE 1.0.2 or later, and put the JAR files
    into "$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext".
    * Execute:
    %JAVA_HOME%\bin\keytool -genkey -alias tomcat -keyalg RSA (Windows)
    $JAVA_HOME/bin/keytool -genkey -alias tomcat -keyalg RSA (Unix)
    with a password value of "changeit" for both the certificate and
    the keystore itself.
    By default, DNS lookups are enabled when a web application calls
    request.getRemoteHost(). This can have an adverse impact on
    performance, so you can disable it by setting the
    "enableLookups" attribute to "false". When DNS lookups are disabled,
    request.getRemoteHost() will return the String version of the
    IP address of the remote client.

    Sessions.
    saveOnRestart: If true, all active sessions will be saved
    to the Store when Catalina is shutdown, regardless of
    other settings. All Sessions found in the Store will be
    loaded on startup. Sessions past their expiration are
    ignored in both cases.
    maxActiveSessions: If 0 or greater, having too many active
    sessions will result in some being swapped out. minIdleSwap
    limits this. -1 or 0 means unlimited sessions are allowed.
    If it is not possible to swap sessions new sessions will
    be rejected.
    This avoids thrashing when the site is highly active.
    minIdleSwap: Sessions must be idle for at least this long
    (in seconds) before they will be swapped out due to
    activity.
    0 means sessions will almost always be swapped out after
    use - this will be noticeably slow for your users.
    maxIdleSwap: Sessions will be swapped out if idle for this
    long (in seconds). If minIdleSwap is higher, then it will
    override this. This isn't exact: it is checked periodically.
    -1 means sessions won't be swapped out for this reason,
    although they may be swapped out for maxActiveSessions.
    If set to >= 0, guarantees that all sessions found in the
    Store will be loaded on startup.
    maxIdleBackup: Sessions will be backed up (saved to the Store,
    but left in active memory) if idle for this long (in seconds),
    and all sessions found in the Store will be loaded on startup.
    If set to -1 sessions will not be backed up, 0 means they
    should be backed up shortly after being used.
    To clear sessions from the Store, set maxActiveSessions, maxIdleSwap,
    and minIdleBackup all to -1, saveOnRestart to false, then restart
    Catalina.

    To use servlets u have indeed to update your web.xml...Well I'm not sure this is relevant to your case anyway.
    You have to add a <servlet> element to this file.
    Something like this:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>blabla</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>blablapackage.Blablaclass</servlet-class>
    <init-param>...</init-param>
    </servlet>
    Now this may not solve your problem. Make sure you refer to your servlets using their full qualified names.btw, just to be sure, what is your definition of "servlet"? (i mean: any java class or only javax.servlet.Servlet)

  • Scale out sharepoint server search to index server and Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to new server

    Hi
    in my single server these below service are running:
    SharePoint Server Search
    User Profile Service
    Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
    here how i scale out  Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application  to another server
    and  SharePoint Server Search  to new index server.
    adil

    Check here to see how to add servers to the farm:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261752(v=office.15).aspx
    What Inderjeet meant was that if you chose to install SharePoint as a single server instead of a complete farm, you won't be able to add servers to the farm at a later time. You can check if this is the case by checking the registry key he mentioned. If
    that is indeed the case, there's nothing to it but reinstall the farm.
    So that is why you never should choose the single server option, it locks you in and limits future options, while choosing to install sharepoint as a complete farm it's still perfectly acceptable to host it on a single server.
    Kind regards,

  • How to import or sync Exchange server data like Calendar, Contacts with a web application or web service

    How to import or sync Exchange data like Calendar, Contacts with a web application or web service.
    1. Is there any API to import contacts and calendar (tasks and events) from exchange server to my calendar in web application using web services or http request. the user would have provided the username and password for his exchange account.
    2. Is there any licensing involved to communicate with exchange server for its data.
    thanks in advance

    I am bit lost here; i have my exchange credentials, how (or) can i use the above mentioned solution for windows application or web services. can you please point in the right direction. my requirement is this: how to sync exchange data with a third party
    app or webapp(my development) using EWS. how to start with, starting point and steps to do[just overview ;)].

  • Database connection error | created a new datasource | web application

    Hi,
    I am trying to deploy a J2EE web application on SAP Netweaver 7.0. I have to connect to a Oracle database schema (Not the default schema used by SAP). I am using Java and JDBC to make connections to the database.
    In order to accomplish this, I created a new data source in Visual Admin. Referenced this in the web.xml and deployed the application. The application is deployed successfully, without any errors or warnings.
    However, when ever the Java program connects and executes a prepared statement, I get this error in the database logs
    bc.direct.DirectPreparedStatement#Java#com.sap.sql_0003#com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLResourceBundle#SQL error occurred on connection xxxx111:xxx:xxx: code=942, state="42000", message="ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    In java code, there are no references to this table "BC_DDDBTABLERT". I am trying to execute a SQL select for entirely different table. Why I am I getting this error?
