New OVI Suite version, still no connect to Maps se...

New version of OVI suite again.
Still fails contacting maps server.
Doesn't even seem to try communicating (no activity on network).
Anyone found anything on this?
Still have to update maps from the phone.

1)It’s good to check whether you can start Maps on device or not. If not then perhaps maps data has corrupted and them should be deleted by hand if device doesn’t prefer it by itself. There is guide in NOS help to do that. Basically the help advices user to delete qf-file and cities-folder from device’s memory card or mass memory.
2)Memory might be write protected.
3)If device has both mass memory and memory card then device and NOS should use same memories.
4)If Maps is open on device then NOS may not find correct memory but it can find wrong one in case of multi memory devices. If there is only one maps memory then other error page is shown.
5)Maps on device defines percent of memory how much Maps can use memory. Sometimes an error is shown in these if there is no more space for maps.
Please check these and hopefully it works out for you..

  • With the new OVI suite recognize phone device as "...

The problem started when I updated the OVI suite a couple of days before. With the new OVI suite my phone device (Nokia C5) is recognized as "s60 Handset" and I don't have access to my internal phone memory, but the SD card contents only!
I tried to reinstall the old version of OVI suite (2.2.1.23) that worked quite nice. I even deleted the Nokia directories and registry values on my computer when I uninstalled the new version and didn't make a difference.
Just don't tell me that the recognition of the phone device as "s60 Handset" with no internal phone memory access is a normal thing. If that's so I must remark that OVI suite made a major backward step.
When I experienced the Nokia OVI suite (2.2.1.23) for the first time I thought that Nokia finally made a difference in software programming.
Now I see that the bad practice of Nokia PC suite is still going on.

The new version of PC suite will work with Windows 7 . As for its compatibility with Nokia 7610, it should work..However trying it is the best way to confirm..because there will not be any harm to the PC or the phone if it doesn't ..
You may also try the Nokia Suite from here ..

  • New Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 problems

I though that it was going to be different to the older version when I downloaded it and tried it again this week.
    It doesn't seem to be improved at all;
    - Backup - the SD card is included and can't be left out of the backup cycle! This takes a tremendous amount of time and space.
    - Synchronisation - No details of changes are given and no report of changes made.
    - Calendar sync - I need to keep years of calendar history and appointments months into the future. No good.
    - Photos - I don't need to know I have 18,000+ photos on my PC. This part seems useless. I can't seem to be able to back up/sync selected folders (camera shots only) from phone to PC.
    - Software updates seems to be buggy and not connecting.
    - Overall is slow and unresponsive.
    - It takes waaay to long to start up and to do a sync.
It this new Ovi Suite for teenagers or for business?
It's no good for my business.
I do sincerely hope Nokia keeps supporting PC Suite, because it is the only software that gets the job done for me.

  • Ovi Suite (version 2.2.0.245) keeps on crashing - ...

    Hi guys,
I  am running Ovi Suite on Windows 7 Home 64-bit and keeps on crashing. when i open it i get a message that says sth like "Ovi stopped working. windows: there is a problem that prevents the programme from working properly" etc. (i'm translating from italian).  Full stop. Nothing more, nowhere to click. There is no error message.
I saw this thread (/t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/Ovi-Suite-keeps-on-crashing-version-2-2-0-245/td-p/730687) and tried to follow the procedure but this does not apply to my case because:
    1) there is no such thing like a window dialog suggesting "Check online for a solution and close the program" AND "close the program".
    2) there is no such thing like "View problem details" etc.
I don't know what to do!
Do you know how to fix this problem and/or give me a link where I can download a former Ovi Suite version that works properly?
    Thank you very much.

    SOLVED
I read this SOLUTION by Benjamin and i m posting it as it worked like a charm with the problem we all are talking about.
That's it ... that's totally the reason it didn't work for me ... Internet Connection Sharing
BUT ... you cannot stop the service in task manager if you enabled it from the regular connection preferences window ...
You will need to go to your network connections ...
And then, from the right click menu on each connection, select the advanced tab, and then look for the internet connection sharing section and uncheck it
Now, before restarting Nokia Software Updater ... which should work fine ... just to be sure ... right click the desktop icon / shortcut ...
... select properties ... and then the compatability tab ...
Now check Run this program in compatability mode for Windows XP (service pack 2) ....
And then apply and then open the Nokia Software Updater ...
You should have a straight through solution !!!

  • Ovi Suite 2 and Internet Connection

My computer is connected to the Internet via mobile boardband and it works fine.  Now, I'm using Ovi Suite 2, and when I check for any new software through Ovi Suite, it insists on connecting to the Internet via my phone or it just says there's no Internet connection available.  Why can't Ovi Suite use my computer's connection?  This problem existed with Ovi Suite 1 too.
For some reasons PC Suite 7 won't connect to my phone at all in Windows 7, but Ovi Suite is OK.
FWIW, I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, connecting to my phone via Bluetooth.
P.S.  Why is Ovi Suite so slow?  A basic sync of contacts and calendar was done in seconds in PC Suite, now it's minutes...

    Hi there,
altough I'm not from Australia, I'm facing same problem with NOS connection while checking for updates.
    The specs:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1
    PC Connectivity Solution 10.18.0.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.29.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2010.18.0.60492
    Maps Service API 3.0.38.0
    Nokia mPlatform 2.6.86
    Ovi Desktop Sync Engine 1.1.0.82
    Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit Edition
    Language: Polish
    Connection: USB
    Nokia 5230
    Firmware: 10.0.071.259.02
Whenever I try to check if there're any updates for both NOS and 5230 firmware, Ovi Suite gives me an error saying my connection is broken or the firewall is blocking ports.
I'm 100% sure BitDefender allows NOS to connect to the internet, the machine was restarted after the installation.
    Any solution for this?
    Thanks!

  • Ovi Suite version 2.2.0.245 Error 83930001

When syncing my Nokia Ovi Suite version 2.2.0.245 I get an error 83930001 when it is in the process of syncing my calendar and tasks. Everything else syncs properly except for my calendar and tasks function. This was not a problem before, it has only started recently. My phone is a Nokia N97

    Hi Angsta,
You could try updating to the latest version 2.2.1.23 either thru' software updates from OVi suite or manually downloading it from www.ovi.com/suite
But before doing tat keep in mind tat the latest version has a sync issue, but have a temperory workaround as well. Go thru my post in the below link for the workaround.

I hope syncing someway is better than getting an error and not able to sync.

  • Latest OVI Suite Version - Unable to Copy Music, P...

I have a Nokia n900 with the latest MAEMO 5 software on it.
For some reason with the latest OVI Suite update I'm unable to copy Music, Pictures and Videos even the playlists that i make. I did a DROP/DRAG option and also right click and COPY TO DEVICE option. Odd thing though when i do choose the MASS STORAGE options and take a look at .audio folder there is one file that was copied ONLY but its corrupt.
Just tried the BLUETOOTH connection instead since this wasn't there with prev version of the OVI Suite and then copying those media files and it works but it's a pain since i copy around 2GB of files and takes awhile...
Whats wrong with the USB transfer capabilities on the latest OVI Suite?
BTW already downloaded a fresh copy of the OVI suite and reinstalled and still the same issue. Also got a brand new cable and still the same.

    @noside143
Sorry for the delay in answering but can only say no issues with OVI Suite v.3.1.1.80 on Xp SP3 device copying music from N900 on Global PR1.2 unfortunately:

  • Ovi Suite Does Not Recognize Connected N8

I installed Ovi Suite on my XP machine.  Connected N8 via USB cable.  Computer recognized device and installed hardware.  Got the message that hardware was correctly installed.
Opened Ovi Suite and clicked on device icon to connect a new device.  Got message that N8 was recognized and that updated connectivity software was being installed.  Then message that N8 was connected and that window closed.
On Ovi suite main page, I have a never ending "Connecting" message.  If I double click   the Nokia SIP VOIP 3.1 file on my desktop, another window opens and tells me that no connected device is detected.
I have tried a reboot of computer, restart of phone, trying a different USB port on the computer, and even re-installing the Ovi Suite software.
The phone shows the USB icon up in the corner, and it does charge.
I don't know if the phone is supposed to ask me if I want to connect to Ovi Suite...it does not ask.
    Any ideas?

Unfortunately this does seem to have been reported with OVI Suite 3 when trying to establish connectivity with N8 for the first time; as I had previously done this with older version of OVI Suite it remained after the update fortunately. Pretty sure that it is this particular software version to blame for this issue however.
With reference to USB connectivity, default setting on N8 is "OVI Suite" mode so it should just briefly acknowledge this on device UI when connecting to PC.

  • Ovi Suite 3.0 Not Connecting to 5230 via Bluetooth

    Hello,
Got the 5230 for Christmas, very very pleased with it, but I have run into a small snag.
I have onstalled Ovi Suite 3.0 on my laptop (Vista) and bluetooth visability is on on both mobile phone and laptop. I can connect to the device through  my normal bluetooth connectivity from the bluetooth tray icon, and I have successfully transferred some music over to my mobile phone.
When I try and add the device on Ovi Suite, it finds my device name, yet when I click on my device, and click "Next" I get the following message:
"Bluetooth modem might need to be installed on your computer".
Ovi Suite then seems to spend a long amount of time "checking" the device, and eventually, a pop up comes up with "Could not detect device".
I have tried and tried (and searched and searched for the solution) and I have had no luck!
I'm running Windows Update to see  if it will make any difference; can anyone offer any ideas of how to get this working!

    Hi saylinen,
I followed your instruction. I dont have to accept now all the time. But Ovi-Suite still is not able to establish the connection.
In my hardwaremanager I found under "Modems" the "PC Connectivity Bluetooth Modem". There under properties in the tab "modem" is written "connection: COM5"
Under COM&LPT Connections in the COM5 properties the connection is located as "path 2 (Bluetooth_Device)". The connection is refered as ok.
In the bluetooth configuration of my laptop I find a tab "local services". There is a table containing several rows. One is "serial bluetooth connection; Start: automatically; secure connection: obligatory; COM-Port: COM3". No other COM-Ports listed.
In the tab Client applications is another table containing the row "Application name: Serial Bluetooth Connection; Secure Connection: Obligatory; COM-Port: COM4".
In non of the tabs is an entry for COM5. Maybe this is a hint for the problem?
(I added the max of 3 screenshots of the described menues. In the answer on the question from satari I will add some more. Unfortunately is my system german.)
Best thanks for your quick response

  • X6 and ovi suite sync problem - usb connection

i recently bought an x6 and set up ovi suite etc which all worked fine! yesterday i updated maps and the x6 operating system using ovi which again seemed to work fine. Now however when i connect phone to my pc the pc comes up problem with hardware installation and ovi suite only occassionally recognises phone - even when it does it will not sync music! help please - wish i hadn't updated anything as it all worked fine before !!!!

I have a similarly frustrating sync problem with my X6. It's my second phone too.
I've had Ovi Suite installed on my computer for about 9 months. I had difficulty getting it to sync with my X6 phone at first but after some troubleshooting I got it working reasonably well.
However over the last few months it doesn't initiate the syncing process after I connect my device. I can open Ovi Suite and click the sync buttons but it doesn't do anything. It doesn't freeze or crash either which is strange considering it is not processing the request.
I've tried everything including reinstalling the software and resetting my phone. This worked once and since went back to it's old tricks.
The only thing that works is removing the X6 device in OVI suite, rebooting the PC and adding the device again. This is real pain in the backside as you can imagine doing this each time I want to sync it.
In contrast the previous version - PC Suite - worked well with my old Nokia phone.
Nokia support have provided some guidance after pushing for a reply but you dont get expert or timely help from them.
Come on, we cant be just a few people having these issues? I reckon lots of x6 owners aren't getting full value from these devices.
It's at the stage where I'd not recommend a Nokia x6 or other Nokia phone to anyone wanting the PC connectivity which is one of the major benefits of a phone these days.
Go on Nokia give us some love!

  • Ovi suite update wrecks USB connection

Yesterday I updated my OVI suite on my winXP PC.
The update should improve USB connection. The opposite effect resulted.
My 5800 listens via its PC suite USB setting for 2 sec. and then decides its better to break with the OVI suite PC side.
It looks like the problem with my Vista PC that was corrupted (registry) earlier with OVI updates and isn't usefull for the Nokia swr anymore (I'm not going to edit in the registry).
Is there an update planned for this problem ?

try to uninstall nokia ovi suite first then download the latest version again from here:

well, wouldnt you know, i just posted about how my oppinion about NOT using ovi suite to date 9/8/10 altthough they may release a new version tomorrow....and VOILA!  THEY DID IT.  LMAO
i am installing it right now, but not sure how it is going to work.  will report later as i have to run out, after install and need to back things up before anything is tried.

Several sources on the net say that one should not use OVI suite with Nokia N900.
    So I uninstalled it.
    But:
the synchronisation N900 -> PC Suite does not work when changing an address on the N900, defining sync direction N900 -> PC suite and syncing the 2nd time.
This is a huge mess folks!
pc suite works perfectly for syncing contacts/calendar/notes with outlook.
So what was wrong in my case?
I first installed PC suite, had to set up the Outlook stuff since I usually use Thunderbird
(btw. when does PC Suite or OVI Suite support Thunderbird?).
Then I synced contacts/calendar with PC Suite. This was ok.
But I could not sync SMS or send SMS with PC Suite.
Therefore I installed OVI suite because on the first run nobody from Nokia wrote something
on the webpage that OVI suite is not capable of sending SMS via the N900.
Then I found out that neither PC suite nor OVI suite can send SMS via N900.
Deinstalled OVI Suite because several sources said it is a nono with N900.
And now I cannot sync to PC suite with settings changed to the only direction
N900 -> PC suite (so that my stuff on N900 is not altered - N900 shall be the "master" so to say).

  • Ovi Suite will still not update - "Install packet ...

First the update does not want to install due to a bad signature, now I am now receiving the error "Internal error"  "Install packet ID not sent" can someone at Nokia please fix the update errors so that we can update Ovi suite?
Surely it is not too much to ask.
    Meshki

I guess this is happening because of the server issue, i just updated my ovi suite to the latest version and its working fine.

  • N97 sync with new OVI suite

I had my N97 mini and my laptop syncing fine. I have installed the latest OVI suite and now I cannot get the phone into PC suite mode. The OVI suite seems to think it is connected OK but when I click the icon I get a message to change the phone to PC suite mode. The laptop does not see any of the phonrs drives. If I switch the phone to mass storage mode, the laptop sees the drives on the phone.
I have tried re-installing the OVI suite but the result is the same.
It seems to be the phone rather than the OVI suite as the computer does not see the pnone in PC suite mode.
    Any ideas?

    Hi pbhadley
I am not sure whether this will solve your problrm but you could try this once.
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and Ovi suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
Please THANK me by clicking on the ****WHITE STAR** ( Giving KUDOS) the big GREEN BOX to your LEFT .
It will help me to serve you better !!!!!

  • Re: Ovi Suite 2 and Internet Connection

Actually, some AV software on windows block Ovi Suite internet connection. You have to add ovi to the whitelist before it can connect to the internet. For example in my case, if I did not whitelist Ovi on my BitDefender Total Security Suite, it cannot connect to the internet.
If you find my post helpful please click the green star on the left under the avatar. Thanks.
