New owner for emac

I have given my old emac to my mother to help her get started w/ her first computer. I want to be able to update the software, but it won't accept my id or log in and password, and it won't accept hers, even tho I thought we had changed it properly. it would be fine if it would accept mine, it fills in my full name when the box w/ id opens up, and I tried using that and adding the password, but it will not take it. Where in the software, do I go to find the original settings and make it hers? We've already managed to do it with the mail program, with the help of Earthlink tech support, so I thought it was changed everywhere, apparently not.
it's driving us crazy, especially since security updates are overdue for it.

The best thing to do when changing owners is to use the System Restore discs to erase and reinstall the whole system. You mom will then be presented with the welcome screen when she first boots it up, where she will set up her own account and passwords. Software Update will quickly launch on its own after that, and present her all the latest updates to download and install.

  • Setting a new Owner for the workitem

    Hi,
I have a self registration workflow. The following are the steps
    1. User fills the form and submits the request
    2. In the workflow I have made it to go to a proxy admin.
    3. There are a set of approve administrators, when they login and check pending approval items for proxy admin. they are able to view the request pending for proxy admin
The requirement is on viewing the approval request form, i need to add the functionality for the logged in admin to take the ownership of the approval request.
So, the whole point is the admin who has logged in should be able to take the ownership of the workitem from proxy admin.
    Please HELP
    Thanks

change the list of users in the delegation to include the user who has logged in

  • New keyboard for eMac

    Hi peeps,
Will the latest 'Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad featuring an extended layout; an elegant, ultrathin anodized aluminum enclosure; low-profile keys; and two USB 2.0 ports' 'plug and play' immediately when used with my old eMac version 10.4.11?
Also, if I bought a second-hand keyboard like I've got now would it work straightaway trouble free?
    Cheers.

Unless your "old" eMac is a eMac G4/1.25MHz (USB 2.0) or eMac G4/1.42MHz (2005) you only have USB 1.1 ports, so you won't have USB 2.0 speeds. The kbd will work however.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How do you transfer registration to a new owner of an old iMAC G5

How do you transfer registration to a new owner for an iMAC G5, 1.9 GHZ Power PC G5 with OSX Version 10.5.8.
    LKB

You don't really need to, as long as the new owner knows the serial number, that's all s/he needs.  I do hope, by the way, that you have delivered the install discs along with the computer.

  • Erase and Install.. Is it now ready for new owner?

1 )   Hello, i think i saw the answer to my question in a previous post but as it is the first time i have installed a system i would like to make sure i understand properly. I am preparing a computer for sale or giveaway.  At the end of the installation it carries on to the Welcome /Registration process, i presume it is at that point i stop, which i did, what baffled me was that there was no way to exit the page and no way to shut the computer down. I turned it off at the power button, is it ok now to pull the plug? And when it is turned back on will it start at the Welcome page and the new owner go on from there?
2 )  Before doing the Erase and Install i had a play around with removing my account.  I deleted all private data and browsing history and anything i could find to delete, disabled auto login then i set up a fictitious account and used the admin rights given to that account to remove my proper account. That was all good except when the computer started again it still displayed my name on the panel that comes up saying  e.g  Joe Bloggs computer.   Is there a way to remove my name from that panel ?   The reason i ask is that a computer can be given away with the OS still in it ready to use with previous details removed but the new owner wouldn't want to see a previous owners name come up.( It didn't appear on the accounts page)
The name must  have been put in during the configuration process, how or at what point do i avoid it or perhaps choose just to enter something general such as " my computer" ?    Thanks .

Gidday or i should say good evening.. i didn't leave a computer behind(?)... Before i did the Erase and Install i had as i described it a "play around". I think it was at that point my name still appeared on the start up pane. Then i put the disc in and yes the first time it was just an Upgrade ( i didn't realise) 10.3 to 10.4.  I had a look and found the option to Erase and Install which has been done, it will have erased my name but that wasn't the first question... there was no way to exit the Welcome process so do i just pull the plug (its currently just been turned off at the machine itself)  leaving it at that point of Welcome/ Registration, and is it now ready to go to a new owner?
As to the other query i am just curious to  know if is there a way to remove the name from that pane? I presume i filled in the name somewhere during the Welcome process.
Yes i am aware that recovery can be done and that Erasing etc is the safest way but there was nothing to be of concern on the computer. I wasn't even doing internet banking back on the 10.3.       I have 3 eMacs and will be keeping the other two.

  • Sold my wifi iPad and reset b4 selling but new owner can't log into apple keeps asking for old( mine) Apple id

Sold my wifi iPad and reset b4 selling
New owner can't sign into his Apple ID keeps asking for old (mine) Apple ID
Thought would have erased with resetting iPad

Hello, your iPad is 'Activation Locked' as a part of 'Find My iPad'.
Log onto www.icloud.com, go to 'Find My iPhone'. Then select 'All Devices', your old iPad will probably show here, select 'Remove from Account'.
If there is no option to 'Remove from Account' ask the current owner to switch iPad off for a while, and remove from account should show in 5 minutes or so.

  • Help: New owner of my iPhone getting prompted for my iTunes account.

My wife is now using my old computer and iPhone 3g.
    1. In iTunes on the PC, she is logged in.
    2. iTunes says she has one app to upgrade.
    3. Clicking upgrade, iTunes then shows her account name and says there are no apps to upgrade.
    4. Go back to iTunes home page and it says she has one app to upgrade.
    5. My account is actually the account with 1 app to upgrade.
    1. On the iPhone, under settings she is listed as the current account.
    2. Try to buy an app from the app store and she gets prompted for my App store account.
Has anyone seen this before? I'm at a loss as to how the two accounts are intermingled like this. Everywhere I look she is listed as the active account. But as soon as an upgrade or purchase is attempted it goes back to my account.
    Thank you in advance,
    Gary

You can do this on your iPad or iPhone - please see Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support (which is written from the point of view of the new owner).

  • How to prepare MacBook for new owner?

I'm selling my Intel MacBook Pro and I would like to restore it to factory-new condition for the new owner.
I know how to install OS X from the included discs, but after the installation it launches right into the first-time setup (name, registration, network configuration, etc.).
I don't want to do this setup — that's information for the new owner to key in. But I see no way to exit out of it gracefully, so should I just power down the machine at this point? I assume the next time it's started (by the new owner) it will simply try the first-time setup again.
Is there a more graceful way to exit the installation and shut down the machine without doing the first-time setup?
    Thanks.

Wow, this is really great. Exactly what I was looking for, except that I'm not sure I have another volume (e.g., FireWire drive) I can boot from to delete the administrator account.
If the timing works out such that my new laptop arrives before I have to ship the old one, then I'll be all set.
    Thanks.

  • Prep for sale or new owner

I have a iMac Core 2 Duo, 7 years old, running Yosemite. I want to give it away to a charity. I need to get all my personal information off first. How do I do this. I already did an erase and reinstall. It doesn't do the trick because when it gets to the install, it needs a WI-FI connection. As soon as I connect to my WI-FI, it finds my name and puts in all my personal information including accounts, passwords, etc. I don't want that to happen. Please, tell me there is a way. I've had several Macs previously, but, don't recall having this problem. It's been seven years since I got a new Mac.  As soon as I put my Apple store account information in, it makes me the Administrator of the iMac. iCloud seems to be the problem. Can't I just get a blank system with no user information? What does one do to sell an iMac to a stranger? Please help.

    Hi oduinnin,
Good on you for deciding to give your mac to charity and what a good season to do it in.
The best way to have NO personal data on the device is to completely wipe the device and then NOT touch it, do not add wifi info, just leave it.
The whole purpose of this screen is so that the new owner can configure it to his/her standards. If you do not fill this in all the data will be wiped and no personal info will be visible.
To complelty wipe the device, be aware that all data will be deleted.
I recommend you reading this article as it has all the info you need and steps taken before you sell your device, I will type it below swell.
What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support
Step six, is where you get up to and as I stated above, just leave it, do not fill anything in.
If you need help on any of the steps the blue writing is a link that will tell you what to do.
I know your Mac is running Yosemite , but the steps for Mavericks will be extremely similar so you can follow them.
Deauthorize your computer from iTunes, if applicable.
Back up your data using Time Machine or other backup methods for OS X Mavericks or Mountain Lion.
If you use Find My Mac or other iCloud features on this Mac, complete these steps:
    Back up your iCloud content.
Choose Apple Menu () > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
Deselect the Find My Mac checkbox.
Sign out of iCloud. When you sign out of iCloud, you're asked whether you want to remove iCloud data from your Mac. Removing iCloud data in this way makes sure that the data isn't also removed from any of your other devices that are using the same iCloud account.
If you're using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8 or later, sign out of iMessage:
In the Messages app, choose Preferences > Accounts.
Select your iMessage account, then click Sign Out.
Reformat your hard drive and reinstall OS X. Follow the appropriate instructions:
    OS X Mavericks
    OS X Mountain Lion
    OS X Lion
After you reformat your hard drive and reinstall OS X, the computer restarts to a Welcome screen and asks you to choose a country or region. If you want to leave the Mac in an out-of-box state, don't continue with the setup of your system. Instead, press Command-Q to shut down the Mac. When the new owner turns on the Mac, the Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process.
    Many Thanks

  • Would like to donate my ipad1 to a special needs program for the handicapped but would like to know what would be required to ensure the new owner could register as its new owner

What steps need to be followed before donating my ipad to a program for the handicapped to ensure the new owner can register and use/update the unit as its new owner?

Go to Settings>General>Resert>Erase all Content and Settings. That will wipe the iPad's contents from the device.
It is very generous of you to donate your iPad to anyone and it is especially kind of you to donate to a cause such as this. My hat is off to you!

I sold a ipad 1.. I did a reset and cleaned out all data before shipping to him.   however, the new owner tells me when he connects to itunes it is asking for my password.  how can i resolve this without giving him my password?  will a hard reset take care of this?

Have the purchaser go to Settings/Store, tap your Apple ID and then choose Sign out.
The purchaser will then need to tap Sign in and enter their own Apple ID for their iTunes account.

  • Erase HD for new owner?

I'm giving my old MacBook Pro to my daughter. I want to give it to her "like new," so she can set it up the way she wants it. In Disk Utility, the option to erase is greyed out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
         5. If you are planning to sell or give your computer away, then do the following:
After you reformat your hard drive and reinstall OS X, the computer restarts to a
Welcome screen and asks you to choose a country or region. If you want to leave
the Mac in an out-of-box state, don't continue with the setup of your system. Instead,
press Command-Q to shut down the Mac. When the new owner turns on the Mac,
the Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Follow the initial steps in this link to be sure you have signed out of your iCloud account, etc.

Yup, updated my Apple TV and got sky news and a couple of other new apps I will never use. I am growing increasingly fed up with looking at all the good stuff there is on offer in America and nothing in the UK..... I know I shouldn't look :)
And it's not just Apple I suppose, checking out the apple and Microsoft US movie stores and they have a much better selection. Wish we all had the willpower to stop giving these companies money until they fulfil customer needs...
Ok rant over, I've been building up to that since I found all the films I love on the US site and can't get them here :(

  • I live in Ireland. How can I buy a new battery for my N500?

I need to buy a new battery for my Lenovo 3000 N500.   However, in the Ireland section of the Lenovo web site NONE of the dealers have this part in stock.   It is in stock on the US and UK sections of the web site, but apparently only people in those countries can buy it on line.   I would be prepared to buy it online from the US or the UK and pay the shipping charges to Ireland.  In more than 13 years on the web, Lenovo is the first company I've encountered where I haven't been able to use my credit card to purchase an item from the US or the UK.   I do this all the time with companies like Land's End, Amazon, James Meade etc etc.
Fine, if I'm not allowed buy from the US and the UK.  But at least, then, make sure I have some other way of buying the part - either on line or from a store.

    According to Apple:
    iPod Owners
Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $49 (iPod shuffle), $59 (iPod nano and iPod classic), and $79 (iPod touch) plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax. Apple disposes of your battery in an environmentally friendly manner.
