New P67A-C45 B3 motherboard buzzing

Received my P67A-C45 B3 revision today.
Not long finished installing it but I am now getting some buzzing. The blue lights at the top seem to flicker. If I push down a bit on the heat sink, it stops a bit. It could be a resistor, i don't know. It all the same as before, except this one has bios 1.9 and not 1.7.
Any ideas?

I've tried 3 boards 1155 boards and they all did it, not sure why, i've made loads of other socket PCs without hearing it. You accept disabling c-state as a solution? Perhaps you want to contact MSI so they might try and fix this?

  • New P67A-C45 (B3) - Static/hissing noise almost in sync with HDD sound

I just bought a new New P67A-C45 (B3), fixed everything up, installed the realtek sound driver then i start to hear the static/hissing noise from my speakers.
The noise seems to be in sync with the HDD activity.
I research online and it seems that not only I have this problem, quite a few people having the same sound chipset on a Gigabyte board are also facing the same problem.
But all solutions is in the direction of mac, stating that a v262 driver have solved the problem.
Anyone got any idea about this? I am rally very irritated with the static/hissing noises coming from the audio..

Have a look in your manual of the included accessories with your mainboard. Note the 'Back I/O Plate'.
For this I think you all are talking about the back panel right? One of the tabs is touching the exterior of the ethernet port. I assume it should be correct?

What they mean is you need to remove the graphics card and unplug the cables from the motherboard and remove the motherboard itself, check the grounding screws (The screws that the mobo sits on and in to which you screw the mobo screws into to hold it down) and make sure that all of them match the holes on the mobo, if there are any that don't match Remove the standoff because it is causing the improper grounding you are experiencing. If you are missing any ("only using two"?) and have standoffs laying around, add the standoffs to the holes that fit.
I did this just last night and it fixed my reboot problem after I had done everything via bios and OS to try and solve it.
Done as well. The base plate in my casing for the motherboard was just fitting for it. I do not need any stand-offs, there were six bumps that align with screw holes nicely.

  • MSI P67A-C45 B3 system freezing

    Hello to Everyone,
Please help me if you can !
I also have a brand new system (all components are new) and I am not able to install Win7-64 or Win7-32 onto this system.
    Hardware & Software config :
    - MSI P67A-C45-B3 motherboard
    - MSI PCIe Nvidia N450GTS-MD1GD5 graphic
    - Intel I5-2500 3,3Ghz 4-core CPU with original cooler
    - Cooler Master Elite 500W power supply RS500-ASABL3-EU-GX
    - Western Digital SATA3 1,5TByte HDD
    - Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 (2pcs of 4GByte RAM put in blue sockets)
    - BIOS version 7673 1J, set on "default" mode, all data in BIOS shows no deviation from specs of installed components.
    - Original box version familiy pack Win7-32 and Win7-64
Voltages are correct, overclocking settings are strictly prohibited.
After trying to boot from original DVD (...no matter whether it is 32bit or 64 bit box version...) the system frozen at the screen right after loading files, before the first graphic screen appears.
I did the memory tests with many different softwares - no results / no problems.
I made HW test of VGA and motherboard from ultimate boot DVD - no results.
    All the cabling perfectly connected.
I also tried to start Ubuntu-64 but the result is the same.... the mem test of Ubuntu shows no problem.
Question : What diagnostic tool you can suggest to detect the "dead" component ?
Or just return it to the shop ?
Thanks for all support or ideas in advance !

Try with just one mem stick. Try clearing cmos and retry >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
There is no further tool if you are outside windows and already tried mem test.

  • MSI P67A-C45 (B3) memory issiue

    Hi,
I have MSI P67A-C45 (B3 motherboard , CORE I7 2600 3.4GHz and Kingston KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX memory kit. i upgraded BIOS to the latest version, but, bios always detect memory as 1333 mhz. After manualy setting memory to 1600 mhz, system freezes after an hour or so. I tried another memory set (GOODRAM) and MB automaticly detects memory at 1600, and system is stable. Can anyone tell me  why this MB detects memory designed to be 1600mhz , at 1333? Should send KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX to RMA, or just wait for another BIOS to improve memory compatibility? or maybe there is another way to fix this?
    Regards
    P.S. sorry for my english

That is normal. That is the default & the supported Sandy Bridge CPU IMC RAM speed, 1600 is overclocking. The BIOS sets what it reads off the RAM SPD profiles, so that is why some set up completely different than others.

    Again, that is perfectly normal.

RAM is fine, no need to RMA it. A new BIOS more than likely won't set it to 1600 as default, because the SPD profile isn't programmed that way. To attempt an OC to 1600, it will need to be done manually in the BIOS. You could also try to set X.M.P. in the BIOS & see how it does.

  • MSI P67A-C45 Cpu temperature 127°c

Hi guys, i've bought new P67A-C45 with Intel i7 2600 box.
My machine measuring 127°C of cpu temperature during Intel burn test 2.5 at maximum:
    Uploaded with ImageShack.us
But the system is stable and never blocked...Does mainboard have temperature's alert in bios' option? I'm not overclocking nothing and i've not activated oc genie 2... Any suggestion?

Realistically if you are stress testing and the gap between the core temps and the CPU temp is 50C + as in your case, then I would suspect a defective sensor for the CPU. Under full load with the standard Intel fan it is quite possible that the temps may end up in the mid 70s for the cores. But I think Mark is correct re the seating of the heatsink.  DDR memory speed of 800 means its running at 1600, which would be correct if you have XMP enabled. With XMP disabled, it should probably be 667 or 533, depending what the SPD profile of the mem modules and if your mem modules are supported by your BIOS and correctly auto set.
The 127 reading as far as I know is the absolute max of the sensor. The sensor seems to be working as your minimum shows 105, so it may be the Fintek chip or whatever chip this board uses that may not apply the correct calibration. If your cores were also approaching the 100 mark then your MB BIOS would be throttling the CPU.
Seeing that your core temps are not "running away" my opinion remains a defective sensor. A BIOS update may solve this though. You will need to check.

  • Problem P67A-C45

i've had this motherboard for a month now but i've been away for a few weeks, and now the motherboard is 'dead'
I cant figgure out if it is the motherboard or the cpu that has crapped out
    Tested:
    - Powersupply - Working
    - Graphicscard - Working
    - RAM -> untested
    - CPU -> untested
So i figgured that perhaps i should ask people with more experience.
When i boot i get 2 High Hz beeps and another that is slightly higher after that i get 5 deeper beeps
Is there a new Beep Error code for UEFI motherboards?
And is the motherboard completely dead?
    Thx in advance

    Gigabyte GTX 560Ti OC GV-N560OC-1GI
    Western Digital 1Tb Black 7200RPM

any beeps normally is a good indication, shows that board is alive.

  • P67A-C45 (B3) not working with Radeon 280x

    Hello all,
After taking all my day on this issue, I really need some help if possible.
I just bought a Sapphire Raderon Tri-X R9 280x to replace my old GTX560Ti from Nvidia. Unfortunatly, when I plug it to my mobo and switching on the computer, nothing is displayed. I only have a black screen and the mobo screen never appears, boot seems to be stucked. I'm using DVI (and tested HDMI as well). When I plug back my old Nvidia, it's working again, everything is booting and after that windows is loading. The ATI GPU is plugged to my A/C with 6+2 pin and 6 pin. Even if my A/C is not that powerfull, it should at least launch everything to Windows. I checked 10 times everything was well plugged. I did a lot of search on google, and flashing the bios seems to work sometimes. But not for me...nor uninstall all previous drivers. Did I miss something in BIOS?
    Here are my computer specs:
    Motherboard= P67A-C45 (B3) freshly flashed to 5.4
    Proc= i5 2500k
GPU (the old one)= Nvidia GTX 560 Ti
    A/C= Seasonic 500w S12ll (+12V => 34A - 408W)
    OS= Windows 7 - 64
Here is what I already tested:
    1. Flash the BIOS (I'm on v5.4 now)
    2. Update all the drivers via Live update 6
    3. Uninstall every nvidia driver using "Display Driver Uninstaller"
    4. Installing Catalyst
    What I didn't tried yet:
    1. Test with another computer (I plan to do it tomorrow)
Have you already met this issue on your side before?
Thank a lot for your help.

So I tested on another computer/mobo. This time the computer is booting but nothing is displayed on the screen. Maybe it's due to driver conflict or whatever but this time it booted.
Do you think that it means the GPU is working fine? After some search on google, I found 2 guys using this same mobo with exactly the same GPU and it's working.
So here I have 2 choices, I buy a new PSU (are you sure that it can disturb the boot process? I though GPU only fully used PSU in game for instance), or I send the card to after sales but they will charge me money if the card is actually working or send me back a new card (but it won't work anyway if it's not a problem from GPU).
Based on the fact that it booted on another PC, do you think the GPU is working and do you have any advice?
    Best Regards,

  • P67A-C45 conpatibility with Revodrive ?

    Hi all,
I plan to get the Revodrive with this MSI P67A-C45.
My question is : Does this motherboard allow boot from PCI-E ?
    Thanks in advance,

The board is VERY! new and I doubt anyone has actually tested that configuration.  However, the board should definately be able to do that.

  • P67A-C45 (B3) and USB 3.0 internal connector

    Hello to all!!
I'm here because I'm not able to find a solution, here is the situation:
    - Internal memory 3,5" card reader USB 2.0
    - Front case USB 2.0 ports.
This motherboard is equipped with one only USB 2.0 connector and one USB 3.0.
    Here the problem:
I must connect OR the front case USB ports OR the card reader, and it is not acceptable
    What I checked:
    - PCI card for USB 2.0 ports with at least an internal one: does not apply due to the internal connector, it's exactly the same as the external ones (checked many manufacters and models, all the same)
    - Looking for a 3.5" card reader USB 3.0 only seems doesn't exist, I can find some model with USB 3.0, eSATA, USB 2.0 all together, and I want only memories slots.
    - Looking for an adapter that convert the USB port to an internal one: no success.
Anyone can help me to find a solution? This is a very stupid problem, and I'm surprise to don't be able to find a stupid solution!!
    Tks in advance

Keep in mind that with MSI mb P67A-C45 the number in red is indicative of the feature level, lower # = fewer features, higher number = more features. For P67: 43 = lowest level, 80 = highest level
Tks for the info, very useful!
Now I found and bought a NZXT product (http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/case_accessories/iu01_usb_expansion), installed on any computer with non MSI motherboard it works, on this motherboard not at all.
If I connect an external USB HDD it switch on for one second and then OFF, if I connect a pendrive it is not detected by the OS and its led is steady ON.
So, it is impossible in any way to have more than one USB 2.0 connector managed by this motherboard???

  • P67A-C45 b3 don't boot with ITE8212 PCI card

    Hello
i was installing my all new motherboard P67A-C45 rev B3 with a core i5 2500K, 4gb of DDR3. No problem for installing all my SATA hard drives as well as Plextor BR writer. Windows seven recognizes everything and everything rules. I have setup the boot priority with plextor and then the SSD drive that have windows 7...Except that as a nostalgic person, i used to keep old IDE hard drives for storing files. For that i use a ITE8212 PCI card in order to have IDE slots. But when pci card is connected (on either of the 3 PCI slots), boot is "freezing". I just have an underscore on the screen and nothing else.
This pci card used to be ok on motherboard without UEFI... is there something that i do wrong ? a specific setup ? an incompatibility ?
Thanks for any help you could give me.

I'm not too concerned with the x8 limitation. Any idea about the video issue itself? It'd be nice to be able to choose which card to boot from without having to take one out or switch them around. I get the feeling that it's always going to use the first card it finds plugged in and just ignore the second card until the OS drivers take control. Mostly I just wanted to confirm that was the case and not just a problem with my own board.
Guess I'll work in getting my 6950 working under OS X, because it's too big to go into E5 without covering some PCI slot I need and also the headers for my power and reset buttons.

  • Does MSI P67A-C45 supports the latest Sandy bridge Celeron (G530,540 etc)

    Hello all,
Firstly, I'm the new user here, and I found this forum when I'm in the process of 'googleing' for my new system problems...
Okay, I'm the 'proud' user of MSI P67A-C45 motherboard and due to some sort of fund problems, I just bought this mobo and use the lowest end Sandy Bridge line processor, which is Celeron G540 processor. After getting the enough money somewhere around March next year, I will straightly change my processor to Core i5-2500K (which I assume it will be more cheaper than now)... After installing everything on my new rig, suddenly there are no BIOS shown up at all. The power is available, all of the LED's as well as my heat sink fan are running finely. I'm suspecting that this kind of mobo does not support Celeron G540 processor... So how? Anyone here can help me to resolve this problems... It really ruined my day and now I'm typing this on my netbook which irritating.... Some of my friends said that it must be BIOS related problems... because Celeron is just launched recently and perhaps the BIOS bundled with my motherboard are the older one..... Below is my full rig specification...
Processor : Intel Celeron G540 Processor
    Motherboard : MSI P67A-C45 (B3)
RAM : Corsair Value RAM 8GB DDR3 1333MHz (two sticks of 4GB RAM each)
    GPU : Sapphire HD6750
    Power SUpply : Xigmatek NRP-PC502  500W
    Casing : CM Elite 431
    HDD : Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
    SSD : Mushkin 60GB SATA-III SSD
** Planning to replace send back the celeron to the seller and change it to Core i3-2100, Core i3 is usable or not with this mobo?
Thanks guys and I really apologize for my bad English... It's not my mother-tongue language actually

Quote from: Henry on 26-December-11, 07:54:09
You have BIOS 1.9 which should support all of the CPU's you mentioned.
Have you plugged in the 4 pin CPU power (JPWR2) on MB & 6 pin to video card PCIe power plugs?
Yes, I already connected 4-pin cpu power as well as 6-pin PCIe power connector both to my motherboard and graphic card, but the system still refuse to shown up the POST screen... :(  BTW, I already change the processor from Celeron G540 to Core i3 2100... Waiting for the stock available from the seller...

  • Drivers & UEFI for P67A-c45

I have a MSI P67A-C45 B2 and I've decided to swap it for the B3 version. I decided to format (I know it's not needed) and so preparing all the drivers but I need some help. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
    1) Where can I find the latest driver for the USB 3.0? The chip is the NEC uPD720200F1. I can't find it in the NEC and Renesas site and the one on the MSI site is surely outdated.
    2) Which are the drivers for my NIC (8111E)? I don't know which one to use between:
    Vista and WinServer 2008 Driver
Vista and WinServer 2008 Auto Installation Program (SID:1445555)
    Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Driver
    Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1445553)
Note that the last two have the same number version as the one on the MSI site (link).
I think that the drivers for Windows Server 2008 should be compatible with Windows 7 (in other words, when there's written WinServer 2008 it means it's also for Windows 7).
    3) With my current motherboard and with the B3, I would like to update to version 1.9 of the UEFI (both have 1.8). In another thread I had opened, a user (Jack) had given me a version of the UEFI which also included the Intel ME firmware. All I had to do was flash once and both the UEFI and the ME firmware were updated. Can someone provide it for me?
By the way, the Intel Chipset drivers on the MSI site are outdated.

Quote from: Jack on 25-March-11, 03:05:12
The fact that you asked here for BIOS release, let's one assume that your are indeed talking about BETA Versions, which are not available on the product site.
You're right, but I would like the version which contains the UEFI and the ME firmware, although I don't know if there necessary is a ME firmware update when the UEFI gets updated.
Quote from: Jack on 25-March-11, 03:05:12
You have Windows 7, so you should use the Windows 7 driver.
OK, I'll use the Auto Installation Program which seems easier.
Quote from: Jack on 25-March-11, 03:05:12
    Why are they outdated?
Well, I'm not sure but since a lot of time has passed I thought that there was a newer driver. Also looking on Google showed up a few results, but usually they're bad sites so I just avoided them.
On the NEC and Renesas site I cannot find my exact model, only one similar in the name.
Quote from: Stu on 25-March-11, 03:49:01
Drivers are not like 'fresh food', they don't go 'bad' or 'out-of-date' after time.
Newer drivers can fix problems, improve compatibility, maybe even improve performance. But for some devices, often there is very little extra that a new version can provide, hence why so many devices 'just work' with default Windows drivers and never need updating (look in Device Manager for how many devices use standard Microsoft drivers, dated 2006 ).
Yes I know, but since I'm doing a fresh installation I prefer having the latest drivers even though there's no difference. It's just me.

  • Virtualization BIOS Setting in P67A-C45

  • Too much Vdroop on P67A-C45 (B3)

Hi, I have seen Vcore on another P67A-C45 B3 and it manages as my previous B2 (+0.008 on full) but mine is drooping more than 0.03v
CPU-Z shows 1.272 on idle and 1.24 on full (Prime95, can be higher using LinX).
Otherwise, it needs a reboot to detect a Seagate 7200.11 500GB wich works perfectly in othre motherboards and I was having BSOD 124 on idle, I'm testing now last BIOS 1.I turbo ON, no crashes yet...
¿Any idea to fix the HDD detection? It look like an insurmountable compatibility problem :(
¿Can I do a RMA process to fix the Vdroop problem? I have never seen an Vdroop like this, even in most cheap motherboards.
I'm setting in manual, dynamic is too high and MSI motherboards can adjust offset as other brands
¿How about othre P67A-C45 B3, is normal this Vcore?
    Thanks guys.

Heh, I use your avatar in other forums
Thanks for reply HU16E, I'll follow your tips.
    My system:
    Hyper 212+ (+2 Gentle Typhoon 1150, max. under 60º @4,4-4,7)
    2x2GB Kingston Value RAM 1333 CL9 1.5v @ 1600 (1333 when testing)
    7200.11 500GB 32MB (last firmware SD1A)
    OCZ Z-Series 550W
    i5 2500K
    HD 6850
    Marian Trace Alpha (sound card)
    Conceptronic C54Ri (wireless controller)
I have read about similar problems with MSI motherboards, its not as simple as raise Vcore because I can pass 2h of Prime95 Custom (1792 min & max FFT, all the RAM & 1min per test. I dont know a better stability test, works better than LinX + AVX). If it can pass 2h torture test with 1.24, something is wrong crashing with 1.27 (IDLE). I have tested 1.27-1.24 for 4,2 (use to be @4,5) and a bit less Vcore for stock with older BIOS, still having problems. It looks like turbo works better, in fact I have read that here (this forum is much better than latin). I hope turbo + last BIOS will be fine
I don't want to set APS/Intel, it manages Vcore without Vdroop but using for stock (33+T, 1 volt in manual works fine) the voltaje needed for my actual frequencies, higher with OC & without adjustment (just a poor ON/OFF LLC wich isn't working with manual Vcore)
    Thanks again, I'll pray

  • New P67A-GD65 do not boot

    Hi.
I have just finished to install my new P67A-GD65 and it does not work.
I do not have the post screen, the screen stay black. But i got bips.
Bips are not clear, i think it's 4 shot, 1 long or something like that.
I had try to clear cmos, disconnect all non critical things, but nothing changed.
Anyone have the bips signification list ?
    Thanks.

Sorry, the thing i'd ask for is the bips documentation.
    Here it'is my full configuration.
    # CPU : Intel i5 2500k
    # Motherboard model : P67A-GD65 (MS-7681 Ver:2.0) Bios 1.4 (seen on the ships)
    # Memory : 2x2Go Kingston HyperX  DDR3 1600M (only one plug for testing)
    # Video card : Saphire, ATI Radeon 5770 Vapor-x.
    # Hard drive(s) brand : Western digital caviar black 500Go.
    # No Operating system.
    # Power Supply : Corsair HX - 650W
The hard drive, the power supply and the vidéo card are from an other computer, so i'am sure they work.
I have tried an other video card (an old ATI 1950). No change.
All power cables are pluged. Phases led (3 first) are on, the fourst blink.
And, as i sed before, no post screen, and 4 short bip and a long or 5 short... seems to have a little pause between the last bip and the others.
