New page tells indesign to use next row from excel

Hello,
I am working on creating packaging for the compnay i work for (boxes, cases ect.) I am using the place> spreadsheet option to populate 20 diff areas on the box, things like size, sku# and mfg#. Ideally what i need indesign to do is when i create a new box (new page or duplicate page) to have indesign use the next row in excel. Duplicating the page just makes the populated areas use the same row (obviously). Having to place the spreadsheet 20 times every time i want to create a new box with new cell values is not time efficient. Id be better off not using the place> spreadsheet option at all. Ive considered making a new cs6 page/ file for each box with its own excel spreadsheet and delete a row which pushes everything up everytime I create a new box. However, if i do that i lose the efficiency of the master page (basically if there is a change on all the boxes i would have to make these changes to each file). I just finished doing spec sheets and i must have changed those master pages about ten times. There are ~230 boxes and ~230 cases that need to be created. Is this even possible, thank you in advance!

Yes i have that option checked for when i make changes to my excel sheet it auto updates in Indesign, awesome feature. Its already saved me days possibly weeks worth of work. However, what i need it to do is when i create a new page/ box to use the next row in excel, sort of similar to the "Fill" option in excel. Filling down takes the same formula but pulls from different rows.

To view reports in new page for each cutomer using Report Designer

HI all
I have a requirement to view the data (key figures) for each customer in a new page.
I have created the same using the Report Designer tool.
Now there is setting for this Group Header 'Customer' i have selected the option 'repeat group header on each page'
still the query when generated, gives fine results for certain cases but not for all.
like it will show the each customers in a fresh page for some pages , then in midst there would some 2-3 customers in the same page.
There is no relation between these customers , they are same as the other customers, no difference at all.then i am not able to figure out the reason why it is behaving so odd.

Ramesh,
right now there really is no way to solve what you are looking for. There partial solutions, but you will not be able to force a page break in a dynamic report.
Here is what I have faced, and what I have come up with so far:
I have a series of reports that have the same column heading, but spread over 5 pages in a fixed structure. I need to be able to re-use the header and the general report design with 6 reports. Here is my solution:
1. Create an outline of the report. I did all the formatting by creating a report section for each page. You can force page breaks between the pages. Upgrade to patch 1502 (came out last week) and you will see some new functionality (such as fit to page, page numbers, etc).
2. Insert all you page breaks and do all the formatting.
3. Insert an infoprovider. Once in, you can just drag and drop the key figure cells into your formatted report.
4. Create additional modification for formatting as needed.
This fixes my problem (for now), but I had to do a lot of work to come up with this. Also, the latest patch (1501 and 1502) has created an issue for me - there is a null exception when I try to use a variable or a filter value in the report body - I can't save the report. I have an OSS message out, but our BASIS guys are going to be taking the lead on troubleshooting this.
The reason that you are seeing some customers on the new pages is probably because of "how the cookie falls" - they just fit that way.
I am trying to be positive and overcome the limitations that are in place right now. If my technical issue is solved, I would recommend upgrading to the new patch (1403 is the latest stable one in my opinion)

Not uploading more than 150 rows from Excel file to Internal table.

How about Heterogeneous Services so that the Excel sheet is an external database:
1- Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)>System DSN and create a data source with appropriate driver. Name it EXCL.
2- In %ORACLE_HOME%\Network\Admin\Tnsnames.ora fie add entry:

When I photo blog (Blogger) useing FireFox, I don't get the link to open my images in a new page like I do using IE. Why?

I have a photo blog using Blogger and when I would submit a new post using IE, anyone was able to click on the image after I had posted it and it would open full screen in it's own page. I'm not sure what you call it but your arrow pointer would turn into a hand and you could click on it. Now, when I post using FireFox, I don't get that ability. If I use FireFox and view older post that were created with IE, the link is there but not the post from FF. It's only when I post using FF.

New Tab Page - thumbnails are not using the files from cache folder, but they want a connection to their origin website.

each time I visit a website, FireFox saves a thumbnail of all these sites for the "New Tab Page". Those thumbnails are cached in the 'thumbnails' Folder . That's so far ok for me.
The problem is:
Every time if I use the "New Tab Page" (...after shutdown & reopening the browser and only with 'mousehoover' on any thumbnail) all the thumbnails on that page don't use the cached thumbnails from the local profile folder.
This means:
Instead of using the cached thumbnail-files all(!) these thumbnails dials to their origin websites without(!) a mouseclick on any of these thumbnails (...see jpg pictures) !

So, i can't believe that this homedialing of pinned and unpinned thumbnails should be a normal function.

The Browser Version is Firefox ESR 31.2.0 and in the installation are no Add-ons, which are - for example - prefetching linked websites.
I would like to use the "New Tab Page" without 'homedialing', so the question is:
How can I force the thumbnails to use the cached thumbnail-files ?
or
How can i disable the 'loading of content from their origin websites' already on mousehoover ?

There is a preload pref available that you could try to disable on the <b>about:config</b> page.

You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.

Installing and reinstalling Windows 7
Good luck on installing the drivers and utilities. The order is problematic. Best luck seems to be had by installing the Intel chipset and display software prior to other drivers. (No need for any of this when you use recovery media, of course.)
If you cannot activate Windows using the product key on the bottom of the computer, come back here for tips. (Windows on the recovery media is preactivated.)
One advantage to this approach is you'll avoid all the extra garbage, especially offers from Amazon, NetZero, Norton, QuickBooks, and Skype.
My time, however, is worth way more than the $30. I would opt for ordering the recovery media and removing the garbage. But that's your call.

How do you temporarily disable a page in InDesign without deleting it completely from the document?

I ask this because I need to create pages that will be relevant at a later time, but I don't want to have to remember the page range everytime I export a pdf because the order of my document is changing constantly. Is ther a way to tag pages as disabled and then reactivate at a later time? Thanks for any help.

Perhaps you should be doing separate documents, and combining them into a Book (.indb). Add or remove the docs and update the book as required.

How do I authorize my new laptop so I can use my music from cloud?

How to catch failed rows from excel export data conversion

I am pulling data from SQL Server and exporting to Excel file. Using SSIS 2008, sending to Excel 2003. The process is working fine, and I want to grab any data conversion failures, specifically I want to grab any data that fails or is to be truncated.
I add a flat file destination to the data conversion error line (red) and pointed it to a txt file. This caused an error, saying some of the columns were the wrong data type to go in a text file. So I added a data conversion to the first data
conversion error line, but the data types wont change.
The wierd thing, is the error says the columns are DT_NTEXT and need to be DT_TEXT, but they aren't, they are DT_WSTR. Anyway, I tried to convert to DT_TEXT and it caused the data conversions in my original conversion to change, whcih broke the whole
package.
My intention is to grab the erroring row so it can be manually converted. So how do I do that without adding 100 more errors?

I think the data types were not guessed correctly by the Flat File Destination component and thus you need to adjust them using the advanced editor, then naturally the data conversion transformations become obsolete.

Maximum rows from excel report outout.

I am having problem when i generate delimited file from report builder or through report server, it can not go beyond 12873 rows.
Report Builder Version - 9.0.4.0.21
I have following query in Data model
select field_name -- data type number
from table_name
where rownum < 12890
Does someone know , what is row limit of delimited generated report. Excel row limit is 65536. Any help would be appriciated.

you are right! it works from report builder only, i forget to mention that it does not work when i deploy report to report server and run using rwcgi60. It got following error.
Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job has terminated with error.
Reports Server Replies:
REP-0826: Invalid printer driver 'DELIMITEDDATA' specified by parameter DESFORMAT.

Hi.... Anybody got any ideas how I can use VCards or Excel as a database to send HTML mails from Mac Mail without having to add the names into my personal address book as I do not want client contacts in with my contacts... any ideas ? Thanks....

This should not occur.
As an experiment, I have some old saved received messages in a user created mailbox that were addressed to an old email account/address that was cancelled. When selecting Reply for any of these messages, my default Send New Mail from account is chosen as the sending email account/address.
When doing the same for any messages located in a user created mailbox that were addressed to an existing valid email account/address that is not my default Sent New Mail from account selection, the account/email address the message was addressed to is the account chosen as the sending email account/address.
I believe there is some minor corruption to your Mail.app preference file. Let me know if you need the instructions for targeting the preference file which will require re-entering all email account information.

Add new page issue with spreads in indesign extension app

i am developing an adobe indesign extension application using adobe flex 3.4 sdk.
the application purpose is to publish the document to remote server.
i have done all the options well.
now i am facing little problems to polish it.
the problem are,
1) Adding new page
   Let us say a particular indesign document (portrait) contains 6 pages.
   Page 1, 2 are in spread
   Page 3
   Page 4
   Page 5, 6 are in spread
   Now i am going to add a new page via indesign extension.
   when i try to add a new page. it will add into the last spread page. (Page 5, 6)
   Finaly it became Page 5, 6 and 7 in spread.
   What i want is.
   After adding the new page the document must have the following structure.
   Page 1, 2 are in spread
   Page 3
   Page 4
   Page 5, 6 are in spread
   Page 7
   My code for adding new page is.
   var document:Document = app.activeDocument;
   document.pages.add();
   Please suggest me the way to add a new page (without spread)

Try the code as below
var document:Document = app.activeDocument;
document.spreads.add();
But make sure that you use this code on a document that is capable of having the the page structure that you had mentioned, i.e it should be created by unchecking the "Facing Pages" options in the new document dialog. Else it will add a two page spread to the document.
This should solve your problem.

SAPscript automatically inserts a page break when the main window of a page (MAIN) is full. You can use the NEW-PAGE command to force a page break in the text at any point you want one. The text following this command then appears on a new page. The page break is always performed (it is an unconditional page break).
The NEW-PAGE command completes the current page. This means that all the windows that are still on the page are printed immediately. If you use the NEW-PAGE command without parameters, the page defined in the current form as the next page will be taken next. If, however, your form contains a number of different pages, then you can specify any one of these as the next page to be used.
Syntax:

/: NEW-PAGE
The current page will be completed and the text in the following lines will be written to the page specified in the form.
/: NEW-PAGE S1
As above, except that the page S1 will be taken as the next page.
