New Pages Update

I just downloaded the update for pages and lost all my autocorrect additions. And the features on the update are terrible, like changing font size, etc. Can someone help with this? Even getting my old version of pages back? Thanks.

Or you can just right-click on your documents, and "Open with... Pages 4.3"
See elsewhere on this forum for the dangers of opening in 5- you can lose a lot of formatting.

  • TS1702 New pages update on iCloud setting crashes upon opening.

Pages update crashes when using iCloud with new update.

Yep, tried that first - also checked that 'pages' app wasn't open on any of my other devices, it wasn't. I then deleted the app & reinstalled it on my iPad, signed back in to iCloud & yet the same issue persists. Having viewed the latest updates of 'pages' consumer reviews it seems that the problem I am having is a very common issue. For an apple (non third party) released product this faulty update is a major (& disappointing) concern.

  • Issue with the new pages update

    Hi!
This might seem trivial for some. But I do translations and this simple feature made my life so much easier!
The new pages app on my mac doesn't give me "autofill" option for previously used words/phrases. Is there any chance to get that option back!? thank you

Click on file-> Export, then choose word

    No. See this subsequent post.

  • How do I display the number of words I've written in the new Pages update?

I just downloaded Mavericks and updated pages and I can't figure out how to display the amount of words I have written. It used to automatically be at the bottom of the page.

  • New Pages Update Includes ePub Export

    According to
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4165
Pages 4.0.4 Includes compatibility with the standard ePub file format (for use with iBooks) when exporting. More info at
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4168

Thanks Tom This http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4168 was a great summary and I successfully exported my PhD thesis to ePub format via Pages 9 (v4.0.4). Looks great!
I would next like to distribute on iTunes Store - yes, I hold copyright - but where do I start? Thanks.

  • Just sent all my documents to iCloud, now cannot open them in iCloud without buying new pages update. anybody else experiencing this?

  • Major metadata Problem with new Pages(v4.3) epub export

Iam are very disappointed with new Pages update (4.3). After new Pages update, when i want to export a book into epub, and upload book in iBookstore iTunes Producer cancels it, because of ERROR: /OPS/cover.xhtml(5,458): element "div" not allowed here; expected the element end-tag, text or element "a", "abbr", "acronym", "applet", "b", "bdo", "big", "br", "cite", "code", "del", "dfn", "em", "i", "iframe", "img", "ins", "kbd", "map", "noscript", "ns:svg", "object", "q", "samp", "script", "small", "span", "strong", "sub", "sup", "tt" or "var" (with xmlns:ns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"). Previously i did not have any problems with uploading the epubs produced in Pages (4.2). I checked our epubs using epubchecker and i  think, that new Pages (4.3) makes incorrect HTML elements in epubs, which i want to export.
Please, send me some feedback and Apple - fix this problem.!

Have you tried creating your content in Pages v4.3 and transferring it into iBooks Author 2.0. Let the latter export your epub, which may be a newer epub standard than what Pages may incorporate. See if this epub satisfies the iBookstore iTunes Producer file requirements.
iBooks Author can't produce .epub, only a special .ibooks format that can't be read on any device other than an iPad.  But should certainly satisfy the ibookstore.

  • Is anybody else having big problems using the new pages?

Everything has moved and even the help section isn't that helpful. I have been sitting in class for over an hour trying to make a portfolio, but can't because everything is so different. I have no idea how any of the changes are supposed to make it simpler. You can't even save as a word document! Instead there's all this export rubbish. I'm going to fail this class because of the new pages update. I have been putting off this update for weeks but since the newest OS update, everything is automatically updating so I had no choice. Actually make it easier, or make it possible to undo the update.

It's been 7 months since it came out. Didn't you read the reviews in the App Store? Plus all the forum posts here?
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewforum.php?f=22&mforum=iworktipsn trick
Use Pages '08/'09 it should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

  • Is the new Pages iOS 5 app compatible with 1st gen iPad?

Hello, I should point out that I have upgraded my iPad software to the new iOS 5 version.  I just saw in the Apps store since the new Pages update a few days ago, that some people are complaining about incompatibility for the 1st gen iPad.  Any truth to that before I purchase?
    Thanks!
    -Jack

    Hello All,
Guess what?  Yes indeed the newly updated Pages works perfectly with the 1st gen iPad like what I've got.  And documents do, in fact, work in either portrait or landscape mode automatcially as you turn your iPad.  Apparently, you should first update to the new iOS5 before you install the new Pages.
    Thought I'd throw that out,
    -Jack
P.S.  Pages is fantastic on the iPad and especially when it's hooked up with the Apple wireless keyboard.

  • Can't drop components on new page after upgrading to Update 5

    Please need some help.
Today I upgraded to Update5. I created a new page in an elder project, created with the prev version.
When trying to drop a component on the Designer a got following error-message: You cannot drop components on plan HTML documents, only on web forms.
Dropping a component on a prev created page went well.
I created a new project, created a new page and dropping a component was OK.
Then I examined the source in the misbehaving project. The newer template code differs from the elder. But the newer template codes matches in both projects.
Following the code and my log.
    thx in advance, gerald

    Hello,
It's possible there are errors in your project and
because the previous release wasn't as strict in
    detecting errors.
    Update 5 is more strict.
One thing you can do is make sure in your Java source
files that all references are accounted for.
e.g. If you have any library references (jars mounted, such
as Web services) make sure all jars are available
Also, if you're using getContext() method in any of your
Java source, temporarily change this method to getFacesContext()
Please see blog for more info

  • How do I stop the new Pages from updating the old Pages?  It is automatically updating, but I don't want it to because it's horrible!!!

I downloaded the new Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, but they're horrible so I deleted them.  Now they keep trying to update my old iWorks.  I don't want them they are horrible!!!  It is automatically updating (I don't have it set to automatic update), so I have it paused, but I don't know how long that will last before they finish the update.  Apple, what are you doing to your loyal customers?  You are making inferior software and forcing it on us.  Why?

    Peter,
Luckily it had stopped trying to upgrade overnight, but your suggestion definitely helped.  I checked in the System Preferences and, sure enough, I had the auto-upgrade checked for regular programs but not apps.  So, it was doing what I told it, even though it wasn't what I wanted!  I am very thankful that I get to stay with my Pages 4 for now.  I love my Mac because it has always been so intuitive, searching for what I needed was fairly easy.  Unfortunately, some of the new upgrades of late don't fit that bill.  Pages 5 has some work to be done before I will feel comfortable switching.  Thank you for your help!
Now, any idea why my Calendar has frozen with the message "Moving calendars to server account..." ever since I downloaded Maverick?  I have had to do a force quit for the last two nights to get it to shut off so I can turn off my computer.  The swirling candycane of death accompanies this message.  I would be glad to undo whatever I have done....if I only knew what that was!

  • How to update table styles in the new Pages?

Anyone found out how to update table styles in the new Pages? I see it's done in some of the templates that Apple provided, but I can't find it. Also, the Copy table style command is gone, so I can't make my tables look in a uniform way, unless I use one of the built-in styles.
    Thanks.

I'm having the same trouble. Looks like no way to create an overal 'table' style and I cannot access the table paragraph styles either.

  • HT5534 I down loaded the new  iwork update. Now when I create a document in pages save it and try to open it later some times the message comes that You need a later version of pages. Some times I don't have that problem.

I down loaded the new  iwork update. Now when I create a docume

I hate the new 5.0, and am having the same issue. Because I created or opened and saved several documents in the new 5.0 before I realized how bad it is, I had to figure out how to make them usable again.
I have both versions of Pages (5.0 and 4.3) in my Dock for now. If a document tells me that it can't be opned by 4.3, I opn 5.0, open the document, EXPORT it in 4.3 with the same name, and overwrite the old document. That usually (big dog willing and the creek don't rise!) gives me access to my work.
Once I am sure I have no remaining 5.0 douments around, I'll take 5.0 out of the dock.
It truly is a pain in the ***. Here's the comment I left for Apple –
I am now attempting to uninstall Pages 5.0 so I can go back to using Pages 4.3. The designers of 5.0 took away (or hid) so many of the functions that I've come to know and trust that I am appalled.
It is now a kindergarten version of the workhorse I knew and loved. IT EVEN LOOKS like a dumbed-down app now, with cartoon buttons that reflect its audience – people who don't need a sophisticated, customizable publishing tool, who just need simple  icons they can point at LIKE A FAST FOOD CASH REGISTER.
I'll be using either 4.3 or Word for Mac from here on out.
