New PB 15" emits static noise from keyboard area

Immediately after purchasing a new 15" PB there is a low crackle/popping noise coming from the keyboard area when the machine is on. It is loud enough to be heard from 5-8' away when working in a relatively quite work environment. The sound is also muted so I know that isnt' it.
Spent an hour on the phone with applecare and they have had my PB since Monday morning with the 'Hold - Engineering' note pasted on the support website.
Has anyone had similar problems?

I myself have a titanium and a G5 (and have tested other aluminum powerbooks) that exhibit this behavior when the following conditions are met:
previewing movies or audio in the Finder
firewire or pcmcia soundcard attached and being used
some applications cause this to be louder. it is more noticable when the processor performance is set to "highest" in the energy saver control panel.
since you have a newer 'book, and there is no processor performance drop-down, i am curious about this. i have found it to be more noticeable on the aluminum powerbooks actually. probably just because the G5 is sitting under my desk as oppossed to in front me.
just look around the forums for the word "sizzle" and you will read more about it. From my understanding this is standard and the noise is caused by the processor napping. Most people who are annoyed by this have installed CHUD (from Apple developer tools) to turn off processor napping. This makes the noise go away but it also does not sleep the processor. This shorten battery life and the fans to go on sooner since the powerbook runs hotter with this off.

  • MSI z77A-G43 C1E enabled and strange noise from cpu area ?

MSI z77A-G43 C1E enabled and strange noise from cpu area ? What will be the problem? When I disabled it there is no sound. BUt when I enabled it there is a strange noise while moving my mouse cursor or when there is some CPU activity, sounds like a squeeking or scratching, a bit like hdd activity, but barely noticeable. It looks like it's coming from the area around the cpu socket, must be something on the motherboard. is there a solution other than just disabling it? I want to be able to make C1E enable but cant bare this noise so I have to turn it of....

Sound like some electrical sound produced by current going through that area.

  • Static Noise from Imported Songs

I imported songs from my CDs using iTunes 7 and it created some static noise in some songs. I doesn't do that for every song, maybe one in every ten songs, but it is frequent enough to bother me.
When I imported same songs using Music Match program and manually added them to iTunes, I don't hear any static noise.
Any idea to solve this problem? Thanks.

I too have this problem. This used to be the case with both Windows Media Player and iTunes. So, I updated my Windows Media Player to version 11 and overcame this problem in the windows side of things. I then import from the Windows Media Player or WMA format to iTunes 7 and do not have static. My problem began once my son imported his Wierd Al Yankovick CD directly to iTunes. Now every cd comes in with static. I still cannot import directly from CD to iTunes 7. And, yes, I do have the latest version. We should be able to do this directly.
Any advice from anyone out there in Apple land as to make iTunes import correctly?

  • Speaker Static Noise from my iMac

Every on in awhile I get some static speaker noise coming from the bottom right side of my iMac. It is very annoying. It even happens when I have it muted. Anybody else have this problem.
I am also sure it is not the hard drive or the fans. It is defiantly a speaker static noise.

It does pop in and out and then there is just static noise.

    Hey,
    My model is A665-S6081.
    The laptop is completely new!!!
I had a static noise from my left speaker/headphone so  decided to activate the guarantee.
After two weeks the technicians said the problems had been fixed!!
    And of course it's not!!!!!!
    WTF?!?!?!?!?
I am really disappointed from Toshiba company and will not recommend it to anyone.

Have you run any of the sound software yet? Theres equilizor and other parts to it. There are also a few microphone tweaks in it that im sure will help you out.

  • Why is my iPod touch making a static noise?

My iPod touch (2 gen) is making a static noise from the internal speaker. Anytime that I play my iPod from the speaker or headphones, it makes a static and crackling noise. However, it does work when I connect it to my iPod dock. I have tried the five R's and none of them work. What can I do to fix this?

Is the static sound noticeable always, or is it more when the volume is up?
Does the static noise seem to vary depending on what you are doing? (moving the mouse cursor, for example)
Was the static noise present immediately when you first powered the notebook on, or was it after using it a bit, or going online?
There is only the one driver on the site for Windows 8.1, but it may be worth reinstalling it.

Also, you should look through the following. I realize that you have sound, but many of the steps are still useful for sound quality issues.

  • New P67A-C45 (B3) - Static/hissing noise almost in sync with HDD sound

I just bought a new New P67A-C45 (B3), fixed everything up, installed the realtek sound driver then i start to hear the static/hissing noise from my speakers.
The noise seems to be in sync with the HDD activity.
I research online and it seems that not only I have this problem, quite a few people having the same sound chipset on a Gigabyte board are also facing the same problem.
But all solutions is in the direction of mac, stating that a v262 driver have solved the problem.
Anyone got any idea about this? I am rally very irritated with the static/hissing noises coming from the audio..

Have a look in your manual of the included accessories with your mainboard. Note the 'Back I/O Plate'.
For this I think you all are talking about the back panel right? One of the tabs is touching the exterior of the ethernet port. I assume it should be correct?
Quote from: sjay on 11-April-11, 07:48:46
What they mean is you need to remove the graphics card and unplug the cables from the motherboard and remove the motherboard itself, check the grounding screws (The screws that the mobo sits on and in to which you screw the mobo screws into to hold it down) and make sure that all of them match the holes on the mobo, if there are any that don't match Remove the standoff because it is causing the improper grounding you are experiencing. If you are missing any ("only using two"?) and have standoffs laying around, add the standoffs to the holes that fit.
I did this just last night and it fixed my reboot problem after I had done everything via bios and OS to try and solve it.
Done as well. The base plate in my casing for the motherboard was just fitting for it. I do not need any stand-offs, there were six bumps that align with screw holes nicely.

It's a new machine - and the Thunderbolt Display is meant to work with it. You need to just make an appointment at your local Apple Store and have them fix whatever is wrong.
If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...

  • Static noise w New Ipad

Whenever I connect the New Ipad to my pc..my speaker making static noise.
It's really annoying. it shouldn't be heard at all.
I have Itouch too..but the noise only with the Ipad.

    Hi,
Is it like a buzzing or vibrating kind of sound?
My iPad 2 makes a noise like that every so often but mine makes the weird noise whenever it should make a noise. eg. lock sounds, typing etc. I have no idea what it is though.
Does yours only make the noise only when being pluged into a computer or whenever the iPad makes a sound like mine?
Not really much help sorry, just asking a question.
