New PC arrives tomorrow.....what do I need to do?

I hope you guys might be able to help an ipod novice!
We currently have 3 ipod nanos which we synch using a PC that is about to become obsolete (ie. tomorrow!) We have made some purchases from the istore and have added a large number of our own CDs to itunes. Obviously we want all of these to be transferred to our new PC. Simple question....if we plug in our ipods into the new PC having downloaded itunes, will there be a synch from ipod to itunes? or will the stuff already on the ipod be deleted? I am in the process of backing up stuff that we have bought from istore, but to do this with everything else would take hours. Do I need to do this?
Hope you can help!?!

If the iPods are set to sync automatically you'll get a message when you connect each one that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
Alternatively, before connecting an iPod open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Don't sync the iPods until you have transferred your iTunes library to the new computer.

I downloaded apps with one appleid on my iphone.  When my account was disabled I set up a new appleid & account.  Now I cannot update apps on my iphone that were downloaded with original appleid when I login with my new apple id.  What do I need to do?

You can write into support and ask for help reenabling the account through this link here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
Since the applications were purchased on the older account, you will need to log into that account to update them. The newer account will not recognize the purchases because they are not a part of the purchase history for the specific account.

  • I will starting afresh website in my iWeb, it shows only the head or the command line and the command new website is inactive - what do I need to start over

    Help........
I will starting afresh website in my iWeb, when I start the program it only shows the head or the command line and the command new website is inactive - what do I need to start over - what have I done wrong

Don't quite understand what you mean, but it says at the bottom that you are still using iWeb 08 so depending on what OSX you are running, you might consider upgrading to iWeb 09.  This works with Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
Apple no longer sells iWeb so if you decide to upgrade, then you'll need to purchase iWeb by going to Amazon and buying the iLife 09 or 11 boxed sets, both of which contain iWeb 09.
Install this on your Mac and it might solve your problems, or just ditch iWeb and start again with one of the newer programmes out there that are still being supported and updated, such as RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, Flux 4, WebAcapella 4 and EverWeb (http://www.everwebapp.com).

I have an existing mini mac and 4 tb external drive.
My iTunes library exists on the external drive under /itunes...
I have purchased a new mini mac and I want to leave the library where it is on the external drive but move to new mini mac and have it show as it did on the old mini mac..
what do i need to do ?
I have found multitude of articles about moving itunes to external drive or other similar things but I don't want to move itunes from the external drive, just change mini mac machines and have everything in itunes the same..
    Thanks

I had already tried that one and got this...
below is screen shot of what is on the new mac mini
and what is on the external drive now connected to the new mac mini..
There are no media files on the mac mini just the library files and on external just media files..
Do I need to copy anything over from the old mac mini ? xml files ? .. the itunes folder on old mini is about 840mb in size which looks to have artwork ect ? .. I am fairly computer literate, but this one has me stumped.. ?
    thanks for help

  • I had to buy a new laptop and redownload iTunes.  Will my IPad now also connect to my new laptop?  Or what do I need to do?

We got a new laptop and redownload iTunes, will my iPad connect to this new laptop as well?  We recycled our old laptop.

    Sync with new computer

    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    That should do it.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2010 and I am going to be installing a new hard drive soon what do i need to do to format the drive once i install it

I know how to physically install it i just need help with the software part. and my current hard drive is backed up on my time machine. The MBP is running mountain lion

How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • My 4od app needs update but my ipad1 is not compatible with the new version on update what do I need to do??

Can't update to the new version of 4od app as my ipad1 is not compatable with new update, what can I do to get 4od now??

I have the same problem. I'm asked to update, told I should download the latest compatible version and once I have done so the app won't work until I update to the latest version! Just let me use the old version please. Any advice about how to break the circle (other than buy a new iPad) would be appreciated.
If you have regularly sync'd your purchased content with iTunes on your computer, and you have NOT downloaded updates in iTunes, then you may have the older version available in iTunes to install.
Delete the app from your iPad, connect to iTunes and choose the older version from your list of apps to install and then let it sync.
However, unless you have kept a copy of the older version like that, then you are stuck now.  The App developer has likely pulled the older version from the store, so only the newer version is available in the App Store.

  • Upcoming new Win 7 install - what do I need to get LR installed on new build?

    Hi there,
I've been a LR user since the pre version 1 days when Pixmantec came on board. Have most recently upgraded my license to 3 and am running 3.2 presently.
All of my installations have been on the same PC (running XP).
I am soon going to build a new PC that will run Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The build will have new drives (2 SSD drives for OS/apps, working space; and a 2TB HDD for RAW/TIFF storage - backup will be to an external 2TB HDD).
As this will be a completely new installation and not an update, do I need to contact Adobe in advance to get LR installed? I have all the old setup files for versions 1, 2 and 3, along with my original purchase receipts emails and activation numbers.
    Thanks,
    Dave M

If you plan on copying the catalog folder from the old machine to the new one, once you have done so go ahead and check the permissions for the catalog folder to make sure the user account you will be using has full conrol over the folder. Otherwise Lightroom may crash whenever trying to open or modify the catalog. Log in as the top level account if you have more than one user account, make it the owner of the folder and and make sure any other accounts that use the program have full control over the folder. You can do that in the folder's Properties/Security tab.

  • TA24960 I did this but it didn't change my picture on my new MBPro-Retina.  What do I need to do to get this to stick?

Follow the usual instructions to change the login picture but it's still stuck on the one I took when I first logged into this machine.
    Any other ideas?

Might try editing it in Address Book, if you haven't.
Did you reboot or log out/in after the change?
