New PC Build Comments and Suggestions please :)

I am going to build a new PC for Video editing etc.
Adobe Premiere, After Effects, the Whole CS6 package amoung others.
I want the best bang for the buck
Currently I have a tower case, and a corsair 650 powersupply.
This is what I was considering to build.
MY Max Budget is 1500, THAT IS MAX I really want around $1000-$1300
I7 3770 or 3770K (3770K is $229, 3770 $260)  Not sure which is best is it worth $30
more for 3770 over 3770K
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO12 evo  $30
Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4 TH LGA 1155  $185
http://www.microcenter.com/product/396870/GA-Z77X-UP4_TH_LGA_1155_Intel_Z77_ATX_Intel_Moth erboard
I like this board because it has thunderbolt. I have no use for thunderbolt yet, but may later
RAM 32 GB Hyper X Red 16GB DDR3-1600  $170 for 2 sets
http://www.microcenter.com/product/401554/Hyper_X_Red_16GB_DDR3-1600_%28PC3-
12800%29_CL_10_Desktop_Memory_Kit_%28Two_8GB_Memory_Modules%29
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Twin Frozr III $209 After Rebate
http://www.microcenter.com/product/403002/N660_TF_2GD5-
OC_NVIDIA_GeForce_GTX_660_Twin_Frozr_III_Overclocked_2048MB_GDDR5_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card
SSD 256 GB  Crucial M4 $199
I am debating getting
2 - 2 TB
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s
Or 2 Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB
They both cost the same ($90) I get double storage from
Seagate of course
Seems like Western Digital Black may be more reliable
My plan would be to put whichever of these drives I get into
a Raid 0 Array.
Not sure what would be best purpose for  the Raid 0 would be I have seen
a few different ideas as to the best use for Raid 0
That can be debated later
Western Digital 750GB 3.5" SATA 7,200RPM $48
Just for storage of Other files etc etc or whatever the best use may be for it.
If it can be used with Adobe apps as well great.
LG 14X Blu Ray Burner $60
perhaps a couple corsair case fans if needed $30 for 2
May not need them. I know my case already has at least one fan.
Total for all of this is about $1310
Comments, Suggestions please???
If I cut the costs some I may put that towards another monitor,  or perhaps
An editing keyboard specific to adobe.  I also don't want to sacrafice much performance either.

There is something mysterious in people's behaviour. If they bought something and they never experienced any problem with it, they tend to stay with that brand, but if they encountered difficulties and especially if that happened more than once, they tend to steer away from that brand. If you buy a certain brand of car and it is at the dealer for repairs more often than you like, your next car will probably be another brand.
I have had my share of problems with Seagate disks (7200.11 series that were notoriously bad and had a failure rate of more than 100% after several were replaced under warranty), so my natural tendency was to steer away from Seagate and look for other options. However, when I considered the price of their 7200.14 series, I was tempted again, but at the same time turned off by their meager 1 year warranty and the reviews on for instance NewEgg. Those reviews are generally rather meaningless, because you never know how people have handled and installed their stuff, but nevertheless it was a mark on the wall for me. In my specific case I needed 25 identical disks to start with and based on price, warranty and reputation I selected Seagate Constellation ES (the Enterprise editions) drives, which up to now have performed flawlessly for 6 months. I have to admit I have never used WD drives at all apart from the Velociraptor which is still going strong in my old system, but they seem to have a good reputation, have a nice warranty period and are somewhat reasonable priced.
I have no idea how much space you need, what future plans you have (do you need to get a parity raid in the future) and stuff like that, but WD Caviar Blacks have a solid reputation for single disk use or in striped arrays. OTOH in parity arrays they are lousy, so if you may consider a parity array on a dedicated controller, the Blacks are out.
For setting up your disks, have a look at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/662972

  • Kernel26-ice comments and suggestions

    hi.
Please post here comments and suggestions here...
    enjoy kernel26-ice
    bye

I'm using reiser4... I build kernel myself, so I patched reiser4 for 2.6.28.1 + additional little __grab_cache_page patch which I made myself, like 2-3 days ago or so... Worked like a charm...
Do You have any special complaints about reiser4?
As for the -ice thing, I tried it, I see logs that say pm-utils are replace by tuxonice, but my stupid nvidia doesn't hibernate and hangs up, there was that page allowance thing I think... Is it so that -ice + page allowance needs hibernate script? I would like to use standard gnome power manager, so I can hibernate / suspend easily, is there a workaround for gnome to use hibernate script?
Sorry, but I don't know details or whatever else about hibernate script and integration with gnome, so any suggestion would be beneficial...
    Thanx in advance...

...please try to give some comments and suggestions to my

    Vey good graphic design.
    A few suggestions:
    1. Either slow down your animations, or make one of them
stop. It makes me a bit dizzy looking at both moving all the time.
    2. Get someone to edit your text for you. There is too much
repetition, the lists are too long, and there are many grammatical
errors. If you would like help, email me.
    Site looks great!
You have very good design skills.

  • Just Created Website Looking For Comments and Suggestions

    Hello all,
Just created a website and was hoping to solicit some comments and suggestions. The site is not complete and is still in its germinal stages, but would appreciate any guidance you all might have.
    Thanks

    Robert,
Personally, I found the color scheme very drab and depressing. On the Welcome page and the info on Maria Montessori, it's all grey on grey (background and font and pics). Even something as subtle as making the small topic title headings a color will really make the page pop and bring the page to life.
What about adding some pics of the facility? Just a thought.
    Hope this helps.

Use the necessary facilities of the Java Programming langgue to build a visual calculator which
can carry out tha following operation. The operation needed are :
    + - * / clear memorize recall
Each of these operations is represented by a button which a user can press in order to carry
out the task. This calculator can be used to work out the value of an expression such as :
    23*12+22-3

please show me the reason why in each case of its . Thanks so much .
I have to submit it by this friday, so i think i can receive all reply soon . Again, thanks so much.

I actually think there's some examples of what NOT to do in that message that look uncannily similar to what you've posted.
This is the third time you've asked somebody to do your homework for you. Read the javadocs, check out the tutorials, test the code yourself and experiment with it.
You can't just throw a bunch of code out and ask some vague questions and expect answers.

Start by asking some specific questions.
And your code would be much easier to read if you put it in [ code ] blocks. Check out http://forum.java.sun.com/faq.jsp#messageformat for information on formatting.

  • Repeated 1212m errors. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Hello, all. Got a problem here I hope you can help me with.
I built my audio/video editing computer in July. It's an Asus P5N-E SLI with an EVGA 7950 graphics card, two gigs of memory, a lot of hard drives, and the E-Mu 1212m, running Windows XP SP2.
Everything worked perfectly until two days ago, when I booted the machine and got that "You don't have sufficient hardware to run PatchMix DSP" error.
I read on these boards and others that there is no fix for this, other than to restore the defaults and hope for the best. That didn't work for me. After hours of adjusting settings, installing and uninstalling the drivers and PatchMix application, it worked again. Then, this morning, it went back to not working at all.
If I play a song, I can see the meters going up and down, but hear no sound anywhere. I now have the 1010 connected to a receiver with an S/PDIF connector and the 0202 connected to a mixer through the two out jacks. I was hoping to get sound out of one of them.
Also, in the PatchMix screen (I tried several different sessions, none of which worked. It's currently on Product Default.), strips two and three--"I/O Card In L" and "I/O Card In R"--are in red with little exclamation points to the lower left of their names. I assume that means "This isn't working!" but I can't do anything to change it.
In the Control Panel, the E-Mu card is listed as working properly. The driver is Creative's version 5.12.4.1104 from 10/22/05.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card there. No change in performance. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the PatchMix application also with no success.
The MIDI ports on the 0202 do work. I can see the activity lights turning on and off in several VSTs
The FireWire port on the 1010 works, too. I plugged in my camcorder and Windows recognized it immediately.
The computer is not hooked up to the internet and I have not installed any new hardware or software since I built it back in July. I can't think of any reason why it would suddenly start giving me these errors.
The last thing to do now is physically remove the card from the computer, uninstall every piece of software related to it, and reinstall the card, probably in a different slot, then reload the software. I'll let you all know how that goes.
Since this glitch seems to have happened to several other people, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas--especially if someone found a proper fix--please post them here. I have a feeling that, since this happened for no apparent reason after four months of usage, it's bound to happen again.
    Thanks!

  • Creating a custom realm for tomcat. Help and suggestions please.

Has anybody ever created a custom realm to authenticate users in tomcat.
I would like to use form based login with my own realm.
The form requires 3 fields to log in (hence the custom realm) . I would also like to be able to use the built-in functions like isuserinrole.
If anybody has experience with this or knows of a place where to get valuable information please let me know.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
Tomcatx.x.x uses the realm sandbox security tecnique
    1)In you'r abcd/web-inf/WEB.xml file
write the realm config scripts for the required
jsp/servlet pages[similar will be found in
      Tomcat/webapps/examples/web-inf/web.xml]
    2)In Tomcatx.x.x/conf/tomcat_users.xml
    declare the realm id/pass/roles
3)If still not able to do then study the web.xml (pdf)

  • Question about TC, Apple TV and iTunes.  Thoughts/suggestions please :)

    Hi guys,
I picked up a TC and Apple TV last weekend, and have finally got them both working through my Netgear 834G modem/router.
I have currently got iTunes library setup on my Macbook Pro, but would like to move this onto the TC to free up space on my laptop. How do I go about doing this? Is it literally just a matter of copying/moving the itunes music folder onto the TC?
When the files are sat on the TC will I still be able to synch the apple TV by pointing it at the Macbook Pro library which in turns does not contain any physical files but points to the TC music folder?
Also, will I be able to point my partner's PC with iTunes installed to the same library to allow it to stream from there?
I don't know the best way of doing this and would like some thoughts and suggestions please. I basically want the files on the TC, the apple TV synching with it, the ability to play the music in the study (where my partners PC is) and also in the future, the ability to play music in the bedroom & dining room. Could I do this via airtunes and will I need an airport express to do this?
    Suggestions/thoughts etc very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I am interested in the iPhoto support as well. Are you able to zoom in and see photos in their native resolution- or is ATV downconverting them for 720P support. I would imagine that it must be doing something on the backend to shrink photos or else the wifi transfer would take a long time. Maybe the 8GB of cache is being used to store thumnails on the fly? Are you able to quickly move from photo to photo or is there a lag?
Can't wait for this to hit Canada!

    This is regarding CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN fm
Currently we are using function module crm_order_maintain outside Loop i.e calling once for all the contracts as sap crm performance standard ,
Is there any standard documentation where we can find that states CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN should be only used outside loop,
As some are telling us to use in Loop Endloop because of timeout error in background job with contract having 180 line items,Which i feel that this create unneccessary load on execution (Not Recommendable)
Please share any comments and suggestion this and also provide me the SAP Help Link on this

    Hi,
for example to you, look for FM CRM_LRP_APPOINTMENTS_GET_DIAG which using CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN and parameter  it_appointment.

  • Another new PC build for a hobbyist

Hi all, I've spent a couple of days searching around for recommendations on a new PC build and found a lot of good information on this forum. I'm replacing my home desktop, which is used for Premiere CS6 (family videos/enthusiast stuff - lately GoPro HD h.264 and some Canon 7D files) running on Windows 7 Pro x64. I'll be reusing some SATA drives but everything else is new. I realize that X79/i7-3930k provides far more performance, but mainly for budget reasons I think I'd prefer to stick with Ivy Bridge. Here's what I'm leaning towards:
CPU: Intel i7-3770k 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Ivy Bridge
MB: Likely Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX
    RAM: Probably CORSAIR Vengeance LP DDR3 1600 16Gb (or 32Gb) 2x8Gb (or 4x8Gb)
PSU: SeaSonic X-Series 1050W 80 Plus Gold (only $10 more than the 850W so why not)
    CASE: Fractal Design Define R4
GPU: GTX 570 (likely this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127682)
    DRIVES
         OS: 256Gb SSD (Crucial M4/Plextor 830)
         Media/Projects: RAID-0 2x 1Tb HD (reuse from old system)
         Previews/Cache/Exports: 2Tb 7200rpm HD
Add in misc DVD+RW, CPU cooler, etc. This prices out to ~$1,300 (without HD's but including the SSD) which is ok, little cheaper would be ok but couple of hundred more is fine too. I'm mostly undecided on the GPU, wondering if a GTX 660 is worth the $70 more (1344 vs. 480 CUDA cores and 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 vs 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 for the GTX 660 vs GTX 570 respectively).
I'd really appreciate any thoughts on this build overall and suggestions on alternate components; thanks very much for all the information!

CPU - agree 3770K is a better choice as you have newer instruction sets, superior performance, lower power consumption and support for second generation of QuickSync offer hardware transcoding support.
Motherboard - The Deluxe is an outstanding board depending on how much you may really want the Marvell option you may want to consider the P8Z77-V Pro which also offers Thundebolt natively on the board. ( Although the Deluxe has a TB header in place for when the Thunderbolt EX expansion card is released ).
Additionally on both they offer a TPU switch which you can enable to have a easy 4.2 to 4.3GHz OC without any other interaction or adjustment.
CPU Cooler - I would advise something basic at least like a Hyper 212Plus or Hyper212 EVO. If you want to more cost effective the Hyper TX3 is very low cost and solid but not as effective at heat disipation.
PSU - Seasonic is excellent choice especially the X gold series very effiicent and the load performance is outstanding additionally generally any loads undder 25% will not have the fan spin at all helping to keep a very quiet system.
Chassis is a very solid option
GPU - I would consider  GTX660Ti or the new GTX660 considerbly superior power efficiecy as well as there is hardware 4K econder support while not active it is there waiting for software applications to support. Additionally you have superior multi monitor flexibility up to 4 displays and it is quieter and cooler. Lastly performance is superior. I would consider ASUS GTX660 or GTX660TI DirectCU II.
    SSD
Crucial drives have very solid firmware but write performance is not as strong ( this is relative overall a solid drive ). Depending on your write and read usage a different controller may make more sense. In this case you may want to consider a different SSD.
Corsair's new GS or GTX are very solid in the firmware development. If you will have a large amount of Incompressible data which includes certain types of TIF and PSD*, JPEG, video and sound files, ZIP files, etc. Then you may want to select a OCZ drive or a SSD based on a Marvell contrler or the new Corsair Neutron series. Those have the benefit of not taking a penelaty with incompressible data. With the overall price drops though on SSDs I would recommend 240GB especially as performance of the SSD will vary depending on capacity filled ( to a extent ). With that noted the Force GS and GTX which use SandForce have very strong performance for overall application usage.
Lastly depending on the maximum read and write speeds you may be better suite to use SSD Caching instead of the raid you are considering on the Marvell ports. Read speeds would be improved considerbly while writes would be stabilized but not overall extended
    Hope this helps!

  • UPDATE: Install new Folio Builder panel

The Folio Producer tools on the web were updated July 21. Please update your Folio Builder panel to make sure that it's in sync with the web client. The links for downloading the 1.1.2 update will appear on the main DPS installer pages:
    Mac OS: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=172&platform=Macintosh
    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=172&platform=Windows
Note that there is a difference between installing the new Folio Builder panel and updating the authoring tools. Whenever there is an update to the web client, you should update the Folio Builder panel. However, when the new version of the authoring tools (Overlay Creator panel and plugin) becomes available, you have a choice of updating the authoring tools or continuing to use an older release. For example, you may want to continue using an older set of authoring tools so that you can continue to work on folios for a custom viewer that you created, and you don't want to update that viewer app in the store every time a set release comes out.
The v14 authoring tools will be available later, when all the viewers are approved in the stores. The new version of the Viewer Builder app is scheduled for release early next week. You'll be able to specify languages and use in-app billing for Android viewers.
When you update your Folio Builder panel, you will be able to do the following:
    * Re-order articles in the Folio Builder panel by dragging and dropping
    * Unshare folios with individuals
    * Upload large articles (the limit increased from 100 MB to 2 GB)

    OK, I've done this.
To test what's happening for sure, I have uninstalled and re-installed time and time again, step by step. Here's what I get:
    1. install Digital Publishing Suite: I can sign in to Folio Builder
    2. install patch 1.0.1: I can sign in to Folio Builder
    3. install patch 1.1.1: I can sign in to Folio Builder
    4. install patch 1.1.2: I cannot sign in to Folio Builder
Here are the messages I get when I try to sign in with 1.1.2. It's always one or the other, at random.
On my Mac at home, I can sign in without problem. Could it be a firewall issue with the Windows computers at the office? If the sign-in system has changed, please tell me what Adobe has done so that I can communicate this to our IT support.
In the meantime, I have downgraded to 1.1.1 so that I can continue working with DPS.

After you have installed the OSX on the new HDD in your MBP, install the old HDD in an enclosure and connect it to your MBP via USB.  Then try to drag and drop  your data to the new HDD.
If this proves unsuccessful, you may look for data recovery software on the Internet.  There will be free trails to see if it will work or not.  If the trial suggests that it will work, then you will have to purchase the software.
The last resort is a professional data recovery service that will offer NO guarantees and charge a lot of money.
As you now can appreciate, backups eliminate such predicaments.
    Ciao.

What kind of wireless router are you using? more importantly which protocol are you connecting with? Are you and wife connecting using the 2.4Ghz band? or do you have a dual band router that offers the 5GHZ band?  Are you both connecting vie 802.11 a/b/g or n?
The best thing to do is to go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES and select NETWORK, then select AIRPORT and click on the ADVANCED button.
Under the AirPort tab you should delete all the preferred networks and only add back in your network with the proper security settings and passwords.
If you hold down the option key on your keyboard while clicking on the airport icon at the top on your macbook pro. you'll seesome data that will tell you what band and mode you're connecting at, as well as in an indication of signal strength (RSSI) if you write down and post back that information it'll tell us what's going on.
