New PC - How do I get old songs onto new computer?

I recently had my laptop stolen ALONG with my external hard drive with all my backups. How can I get my OLD tunes into the NEW laptop? Can I hook up my iTouch and make the songs go from the iTouch TO the new laptop?
Any suggestions would be great! I have seen programs I can purchase but figure there has to be a simpler way.
THANKS!!

itunes purchases can be transferred using itunes.
anything else will need third party software downloaded. google 'ipod to pc/mac'

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

Copy the songs to a computer that is running iTunes, add those new tracks to the current library, and then synch those tracts to the iPod.

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I have bought music directly on my ipod,i have also bought films and music on itunes on my computer, how do i get them all onto my computer without accidentally deleting everything off my ipod? I did this a while a go and had to spend 100's re-buying

Help! I have bought music directly onto my ipod, i have also bought films and music directly onto my computer from itunes, how can i put them all onto the computer? My ipod is acting a little odd and i think its going to break at some point, so i really want to save everything i've bought. Last year i tried to sync them thinking that my music would go onto the computer, but it actually just deleted everything off my ipod, i haven't been game to try anything again.

  • Old computer is broke, how can I get my songs onto the new computer?

My other computer with Itunes and all my songs was dropped and broke. We were unable to recover any of the songs. I have all the songs on my ipod though. So I downloaded Itunes onto this new computer, and now I am trying to add my recently downloaded songs to the ipod, and it keeps telling me that I need to erase the library and replace it with the new library. I don't want to lose all the songs I have now! What can I do? Is there any way to put all the songs from my ipod into Itunes just by using the ipod??

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod

  • I just downloaded itunes to a new laptop and when I signed in, my music library was there but only songs that I had "purchased" from itunes.  I have much more music on my ipod that I downloaded from CDs a long time ago.  How can I get those songs onto my

Hi!  I just bought a new laptop and have downloaded itunes and signed in.  When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs.  How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  Also, will itunes still recognize my ipod on my new computer when I plug it in?  I have a Dell with Windows 7 and an ipod nano, I think.  Why can't I just plug my ipod in and "sync" it?  Will that move my CD music into my library on itunes?  Thanks for any help!  Soooo confusing!!!

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • I have a new computer and my nano erased my library from it.  How do i get the songs onto my nano?  It will sync the new purchases but not the original music

My nano original music was erased from my nano.  How do i download the music again?

if you had non-purchased music on your ipod nano and synced with a new computer it does an erase and sync as it can only be synced to one library at a time - if you have not yet done the erase and sync then you can google some kind of ipod extractor software to see if you can get the non-purchased music off the device - back to the computer - and back into itunes - good luck

  • How do I get old library onto my new computer ?

I've just bought a new computer and need to know how to download my songs etc onto the new computer. I turned on home sharing but not sure how that works. Any help out there ?
    Thanks

what you want to see in iTunes is this (view from my MBP's iTunes seeing the library on my Mini)
if you then click on the house icon, it will change to this and the shared library will load. at that point, two buttons will appear in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, being settings and import
now you should be able to import any content from any shared library by selecting the content and clicking on import.
if the icon looks like this , home sharing has not been set up correctly.
in order for home sharing to work
    (a) iTunes on all machines must be authorized for the same iTunes store account
    (b) all machines must be on the same network
    (c) all machines must have access to the internet.
these reads will be useful: one and two.

  • How do I get ALL songs onto my child's computer account?

I'm sure most of you all are familiar with having multiple accounts on Windows 8.1
I am the Administrator account.. there are standard accounts and children accounts.
I have made my son a child account so I can monitor his activity and so he does not have administrator privelages
Itunes was already on the child account (because it's already downloaded on my Admin account) and I logged into my Itunes account, but there are no songs available for him.  I have multiple CDs downloaded from the past which are on my administrator's Itunes account but not showing up on my child's Itunes (keep in mind this is on the same computer.)  The only songs that show up are purchased songs from Itunes that I have made on my account.
How do I allow my child to have the same songs as me?
    Thanks,
I've spent hours figuring this out and cannot find out how.  Copied and pasted songs to Itunes folder on child's account.. on public account.. etc
