New PC -- Old Blackberry -- Outlook -- How?

I've got a new PC, moved all my old Outlook data to it.  Installed Blackberry Desktop.  I want to synch it, but I'd like it to be able to figure out that all those Outlook items are the same as they always were.  When I try to synch it seems to want to add hundreds of items to Outlook -- which would be bad, because the Outlook items have properties (labels, etc) not supported on the Blackberry, and I don't have the hours I'd need to delete all the duplicates.  How can I do this synch so I don't get double-portions of calendar and contact and tasks and all, one place or the other?
Thanks!
Sheldon

Hoping that not too much changed since your last sync (with your old computer): update Outlook with any changes from your BlackBerry, then do a one-way sync from Outlook to your BlackBerry.
Only other possibility I can think of is to export both to an ASCII file, and use some sort of diff/merge tool. Import the resulting file to both.
Good luck.

  • New iPhone- old Blackberry contacts

I had to get a new iPhone after I damaged my old one.  It turns out that my old iPhone had never backed up to my Mac since I've had it.  I had the Apple tech move my old Blackberry contacts to my new iPhone.  Now I want the settings from my old iPhone to go onto my new iPhone, and I want my contacts already on the new iPhone to be backed up on my Mac.  Am I restoring? Am I syncing? Am I merging? It is unclear what will end up where...  I've gone through the tutorials but they all assume a basic level of knowledge with the itunes thing (my kids set up my first one for me and you can tell I never figured it out for myself).

Sync the contacts on your Blackberry to something on your computer (e.g. Outlook, Address Book) using Blackberry Desktop Manager,  the free software that Blackberry provides. Then, sync the contacts to your phone using iTunes.
Or take both devices to your carrier and ask nicely if they can transfer them.

  • After changing my username on my laptop I can no longer log in (with new or old username). How can I fix this?

My laptop won't accept my username (or the old username) since I changed it (I wanted to shorten it). I originally thought it was the password so went through the process of reinstalling the system with the original disk (with apple support help over the phone), but that wasn't the problem. How do I get the computer to recognize my username? Thanks!

Yeah, you can't do that so easily...
Return to default desktop, apparent "loss" of home directory, (it can happen spontaneously too)...

But you have worse problems now, might see if this works, but first...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

  • New computer/old computer. How to transfer the music between the two.

I purchased a new computer recently and I have managed to put my old itunes music from my old computer onto a portable hard drive. how do I transfer that music onto my new computer?

Drag the folder containing it to the new computer's hard drive, and from there into the open iTunes window, or if it contains a complete iTunes library, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, click on Choose Library, and point it there.

  • New laptop, old iPod Touch, how do I get apps onto iTunes?

Hi. I have recently bought a new laptop, and want to sync my apps in iTunes to my 9 month Touch, but when I select Sync, iTunes tells me; "+All existing applications and their data on the iPod <my ipod> will be replaced with applications from this iTunes library+".
As this is a new iTunes install, won't it completely wipe all my apps? Short of hunting down all my apps in iTunes and re-purchasing them, how do I get to a point where I can sync apps?

Don't sync your iPod until you have your purchases back onto the computer and your restored your library or you will lose the contents from it. iTunes will let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can also be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store

  • Migrated to Macbook Air. Apps now on both new and old macbooks. How?

I have just used the migration software to tranfer to a late 2011 Macbook Air (Lion) from a late 2009 Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard). My intention is to sell my old Macbook Pro.
After migrating, I now have apps (ex. iLife, iWorks, Office, etc) that appear and work on both machines. I only purchased one copy of the software, so how does this work? I want to leave some software on the Macbook Pro for the person buying it. Can I have duplicates, and will they work on both machines simultaneously? Can I just uninstall the software I no don't want to "share"?
    Thanks!

Migration Assistant doesn't erase anything from the source computer. That is left for you to do. Yes, just delete the software from the old computer. Note: Some licenses permit software to be installed on multiple computers but limit its use to one at a time while others permit installation on only one computer. Still others might permit installation on several computers. Confusing....

  • New computer, old one crashed, how do i download my

My music from my touch to my computer, when i connect to itunes, ive got the choice of deleting everything on my ipod and resync... not really the best of ideas, because then my music will be lost...!
So how do i download my itouch to my computer for backing up my music?

iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • New library, old Ipod. How to not loose all Ipod content......

    Hi,
I had to format my computer and lost all data. I thought I would just sync my Ipod from Ipod to computer and be done with it.
Well, it didn't work. For some reason I can't seem to get the songs from my iPod in my iTunes library.
Another thought was to just pull the songs from the Ipod onto my computer and then from there into my Itunes library, but I only see 4 folders (foto's, notes, etc) i can't see the MP3's Any reason why.
Hope anyone can help me with this.
    OS: windows XP pro
    Ipod: 30G video

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

    old pc died.
how do I register acrobat on a new pc?

    Hi Bernard ,
If it is an Acrobat subscription you could easily register the same product on your new PC with your credentials ,i.e Adobe id and password.
If it is a perpetual one ,then you may face some challenges ,to get rid of that you would have to get in touch with the Adobe Technical Team. Here is the link for the same.

The easiest way is to simply restore your music from your backup drive.

  • When I had my old blackberry connected to my computer, all incoming emails were routed to my outlook so I did not get mails on my blackberry.  How do I get it so my iphone4 does not receive emails when connected to my computer?

I am getting my iphone inbox bombarded so would like it to not receive emails when connected to my computer.  My old blackberry had an app that took care of this which worked really well.  Am wondering if I can do the same with my iphone4.

Blackberries were/are able to do that with some types of e-mail accounts because the mail is routed to an intermediary (BlackBerry Service).
There is no equivalent for the iPhone as the phone communicates directly with the mail servers and does not go through a 3rd party.

  • I have just purchased a Macbook pro, but my iphone is currently synched to my old pc. How can I now synch it with my new mac without losing all the apps/music etc on my phone, Ta

Hi, I have just purchased a Macbook, but my iphone is currently synched to my old pc. How can I now synch it with my new mac without losing all the apps/music etc on my phone? Ta

The easiest way is to copy the iTunes folder from your old PC to your MB (put it in the Music folder as a subfolder), along with the other valuable data on the old PC. Or restore it from a backup of your old PC. Then authorize iTunes on the MB to the same account you had on the PC. When you sync it will warn you that your content will be deleted, but it will be replaced with the same content from the MB. Before syncing you should also make sure there is at least one entry in iCal and Address book on the MB (assuming you sync to Outlook or equivalent on the PC) to assure that your contacts and calendar entries will move over correctly.
Al alternative that is less effective is to connect the iPhone to the MB without syncing, and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes File menu. This willl copy purchases music, videos and apps, but not ripped tracks from the iPhone to the MB.
