New PC with Windows 7 Photos on external HD

I was using PSE7 on a PC running Vista with all photos stored on a external hard drive. I now have A Windows 7 System 32 bit that I installed PSE7 on did all the updates and connected the same external hard drive. I can browse to the drive see the folders but I can't figure out how to get the catalog back since the photos were organized and tagged some edited and would hate to loose all the work previously put into it. I still have the Vista system to pull any info from it I may need before I upgrade it. Any and all help appreciated.... Been avoiding this chore but the wife want her photos... Been googling for hours and can't seem to find a answer. Thanks

Ok lets see if I clarify this... On the original Vista PC I have C, D, and the external drive which I thought everything was stored on was recognized as I.  The old PC now powered down and the external drive plugged in via USB  now recognized as  F on the new PC. So now the new PC has a 500G C drive and a 1 TB external drive. I read somewhere that the catalog file could be copied anywhere on the new PC and just double click on it PSE7 would open. I did and PSE opened the tags I created and albums were visible on the right side of the screen and PSE started generating thumbnails. Problem was PSE kept freezing and I couldn't even close it in task manager so I had to force a shutdown by holding in the power button.. After a few tries at this I un and reinstalled PSE7 it opened fine like before and it started generating thumbnails again. I had noticed some broken links as I scrolled down (not the hour glass icon but the camera icon with the rip in the page) which lead me to believe that some photos were still on the hard drives of the old PC. At this point I decided to close PSE on the new PC plug the external drive back on the old one and did a complete backup to the external drive having it scan for broken links before the back up started. Back to the new PC and for the hell of it before restoring from back up I figured I let it generate to see what happened. As I type a half a day later it is still generating thumbnails... There are over 15,000 pics there and a lot of them are duplicates but that is a question for another day. Any suggestion here? Stop generating and reinstall the backup to the c drive, clean up the folders on the external drive and when everything is fine make another backup and restore it to the external drive....

    Terry,
Plug your iPhone 5 into your Leopard Machine.
    Fire up iPhoto.
The phone should become available in iPhoto, and then you can import the camera roll.

  • Ive got a new pc with windows 7 and my ipod touch 4th gen is synced with my old pc ,how can i back up the photos on the ipod to my new pc ?

ive got a new pc with windows 7 and my ipod touch 4th gen is synced with my old pc ,how can i back up the photos and music on the ipod to my new pc ?

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.
    iOS: How to back up
Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content such as music, videos, and photos synced to the device, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software available to assist you with this task.

Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

  • HT2305 I have a new computer with Windows 8 OS.  Do I need to install drivers so that my Ipod Nano will sync with this new computer:

My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas.  I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one.  However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13.  Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely.  I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod.   I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer.  I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not.  I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour.  He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8.  I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums.  So...my question is:  Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what?  I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved.  Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

Apparently I wasn't clear.  The music on my ipod is but a subset of all the music on my external hard drives.  I want to import only the songs and playlists from my existing ipod into the itunes library on my new computer, which currently has no music or playlists.  How can I do this?

  • Have new PC with windows 8. I own photoshop elements 9 and I have lost all my pictures, albums and tagging, how do I retrieve them?

I own elements 9.  All files were backed up to a external hard drive and then downloaded to a new PC, with windows 8.  I have lost all my pictures, albums and tagging.  How do I retrieve all of this back into Elements 9?

It appears that you have made a backup via Windows and not via the integrated backup/restore process in the organizer. Since the albums and tagging are stored in catalogs, they are lost unless you also made a backup of the catalogs themselves.

  • How can I transfer my music from my iPod (4G Touch) to a new computer with windows 7?

Help.  My old computer crashed and all my music from my CDs is still on my iPod but I need to get it into itunes onmy new computer with windows 7.  I have found a number of procedures online that apparently work for earlier versions of windows but i can't figure them out for windows 7.  Any suggestions from folks who have solved this proble would be appreciated.

    - Connect the iPod to the computer and transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - To transfer other music you will nee a third-party program like those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - If you have synced photos then you will have to use a paid program like TouchCopy or PhoneView. Those also do music
    - Then connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup does not contain synced media like app and music.

I have Photoshop CS on my Windows XP PC and I am updating to a newer PC with Windows 8. Am I able to install my version of Photoshop or will it interfere with windows 8?.

It is quite easy to transfer your files to the new Mac.
When you start up your new Mac for the first time, it will guide you through the steps of setting up the operating system, and one of the steps will ask you to restore files from another PC, Mac or external drive.
At this point, you can install Windows Migration Assistant on your old PC, choose the option to transfer files from another PC on the Mac and follow the on-screen steps. It will let you choose what you want to transfer, so make sure you transfer the folder with your photographs (normally, Pictures).
After setting up your computer, you will have a lot to learn because it is a completely new operating system. Apple prepared some articles for new users that you may want to read in order to use your computer > http://www.apple.com/support/macbasics/ Also, if you live near an Apple Retail Store, there are workshops there to help you use your Mac

  • I need to move my thunderbird email from an old XP to a new computer with windows 7. I have my UserName but not a password

I do not know how to move my T B email account from my old XP system to my new computer with Windows 7. I know my user name but do not know my pass word for the T B account

All you normally need to do is copy the entire iTunes folder from User's Music on one computer into User's Music on the other. You can use a network share or an external drive to help with the move. Move the library before installing iTunes.
See this migrate iTunes library post for more details and strategies for when the library isn't in the usual layout.

  • I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 . How do I start a new account?

I bought a new computer with Windows 7. I installed itunes, and I downloaded some podcasts. When I try to sync, it begins syncing and then stops.
    Any suggestions?
Also - is there a way to upload my music from my ipod onto my new itunes?
    Thank you.

The easiest thing to do is backup your old computer with an external hard drive. Then import all of your files from the external hard drive to the new computer. I just did this about two months ago myself. The biggest problem I had was that it did not keep any of my playlists that I had spent many years developing. However, there is a supposed way to be able to keep the playlists if you do your research on this website (which I did not do first, only after the fact) and follow the steps they guide you with.

  • Reinstalling card on a new PC with windows 7

I had a sound blaster AUDIGY 2.ZS platinum pro working fine on my old computer with windows XP.
I did now receive a fully new PC with windows 7 and i requested to install my sound card on the new PC.
The sound comes normally on the speakers (creative INSPIRE 580 - system 5.1)
BUT.....! when i tried to install the consoles (EAX, TXH and so on), from the installation CD, the setup program says that he does'nt find any AUDIGY 2 card on the system.
Its the same after having downloaded the latest version of the driver.
Also, when i try to control the volume from the external I/O hub, it does'nt work properly.
I can mute or no mute the speakers, but i cannot increase or decrease the volume.
    Any solutions available?
Thank you very much for your attention.

    Hi Fidmon,
After performing a research, I just get the same conclusion as Rick Dee and Shadow Walker. There is no Lexmark Optra S 1625 Printer driver for Windows 7 provided on Windows Update Catalog. Also, no driver downloading information for your printer listed on the Lexmark Product Download Center.
At this time, you can try the suggestions raised by Shadow Walker to install the similar printer driver to check the issue. For your convenicen, I have located a driver for OPTRA S 1255 printer. Please download and install the driver to test the issue.
Please note: Since this is a Windows XP driver, I can't guarantee if it works for you, but we can try installing the driver under Windows XP Compatible Mode.
    OPTRA S 1255
If the driver did not work, I strongly suggest communicating with Lexmark Support and ask them to produce the proper driver for Windows 7.
    Judy :)

  • Can't get adobe reader to install on my new laptop with windows 8

I can't get adobe reader to install onto my new laptop with windows 8. Basically what happens is that I start the download from the adobe screen by clicking the yellow download button, then I click run (I've also tried save and run), then I allow the program to make changes to my hard drive, and then finally a blank grey box appears in the in the middle of the screen, titled "adobe reader installer". After this box appears nothing else happens. I've let it sit for at least 30 minutes and still nothing. I've also disabled my pop up blocker, and set the security settings to default as suggested in other posts. Unfortunately this is the only pdf program that works for the site we have to use to write contracts, so I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

    Try installing from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise
