New pc wont boot hp envy 25

Did all updates and also updated to windows 8.1 and now my HP envy will not load to windows 8.1 have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to load

Hi Jasen734,
Welcome to HP Forums! I see you are having some issues with your 8.1 upgrade. What is your Envy's product number? Are you getting an error message when it fails to load? When it fails to load how far does it get?

  • New board wont boot, help please

    Hi.
I have just bought MSI K9A2 Platinum with a quad core phenom 9950 black edition cpu. and ati 4850 pcs 1GB gddr3 pci-e  2x 2BG corsair ram.
I built the rig but when i push the power button everything seems to work, fans spin, cpu warms up graphics card warms up (the heatsinks) but the monitor says no signal.
Sometimes the monitor goes into standby and other times it stays on but with no picture.
Has anyone come across this problem and does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
I have cleared bios, unplugged all usb pins etc. tried with 1 mem stick and 2 , and un plugged hard drives.
    Many thanks for any help.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
The board is now booting. one of the memory sticks is dead, wont boot with it in, take it out and its fine
The problem i am having now is i cannot create an array.
in the create an array options, option 1,2,3 don't do anything but 4 does.
I managed to format the drive and the OS is loading as i type, but when pc boots it says no array created, so if I am getting the Sata speed right, if an array isn't created then it wont be running at full speed.
Ive tried changing bios setting in sata control bit... IDE, Raid and  a....... cannot remember other options, but none of them work.
OS is now up and running, everything seems to be working. just strange that it wont allow me to make an array.
    Any ideas thanks

  • New mobo, Wont boot !

    Heys guys,
had a read through the other posts and come to the conclusion it *might* be my psu as i have a shite one.
i just swapped over from a board with a via chipset, to the K7n2 delta board with nforce 2, could this also be the problem ?
firstly... sometimes when i press the power button, the fans start to go as if its gunna start the lights come on and then it jsut turns off again, sometimes, and wont turn on again untill i unplug the power to the psu, leave it a few secs then put it back. sometimes, i can get it to boot into the bios, and access all the settings no problems. when i go to boot, it asks me to run windows normally or safe mode etc, i start windows, the windows xp loading screen breifly appears but then a brief bluescreen and it restarts, it just keeps goign round and round in circles if i leave it to it.
the power supply im using is a qtec 550w, and yes i figure qtec are shite, but hat was after i bought it and i just spent the last of the cash i got on this mobo
    any help appreciated
    Kev

    Hey,
well, i HAVE got a 550 watt psu in there, but its a shite one, qtec.
and yes, thats EXACTLY what happens most of the time, press the power button and get a flicker of the fans then nothing, and i have to pull the plug and plug back in to try again
and 1 out of 10 times it stays on,
i formatted it, and when i can get it to turn on, it boots up ok
so you guys reckon its deffo the psu ?i just wanna be sure before i go spend 80 quid on one the one im using runs ALL of the stuff i have, neons and everything no problem on the old mobo, but on the new mobo, im lucky to get it to turn on with just 1 cd, 1 hd and the cpu fan :S

Does ANYONE know why in the world it will not boot at all?  No fans, nothing.  I'm totally puzzled, I've built a pc very similar before and never had a problem.  PLEASE help!
    Thanks a lot!

It sounds like the board is shorting out.
Take the board out of the case and lay it on the table on a non conductive material.
Only have esential hardware attached. (i.e. memory, vid card, hard dive etc.)
Then try to power up the board.
    Good luck,

  • New HD wont boot from CD, keeps restarting

Here is the story in a nut shell. I have a MacBook 2008 aluminum unibody. Yesterday it randomly dies and I can't restart it anymore (I got lucky once in safe mood, but couldn't start it up more then once in safe mode). I do a hardware test and get the 4hdd/11/400000004:sata(0,0) error, busted HD. No big deal I go out and buy a Samsung SATA 2.5" 320gb 5400rp hd.
    Install it, no prob.
Turn computer on and all I get is the file with question mark logo. Slide in a OSX 10.5 DVD and the DVD drive works up a storm, turns the screen black and then turns it gray. It continues doing this until I eject DVD or until I turn the power off. What am I missing here??

  • MSI P35 Platinum new build wont boot

I just build my first pc everything is connected correctly. I turn the pc on for the first time, my monitor stays blank then a few seconds later it shuts off then comes back on and the LEDs on the mobo are showing 'Red Red Green Red' or 'Memory Connection Test' (according to the manual.) I'm using two sticks of 512MB DDR2 4200 533Mhz, the box doesnt say this is supported neither did Scan.co.uk in the specs for this mobo, I read in the thread earlier today that 533 should be supported? Any ideas? Should I just buy some 667 or 800 from crucial? ??? thanks

Can you provide more details about your RAM modules?
    - brand/manufacturer
    - model name/ID
Is it ECC or non-ECC RAM?
    Quote
    its not bad ram
Depending on the chips actually used on your modules you may have a compatibility problem.
Have your cleared CMOS yet (with main power plug removed from PSU)?  Sometimes that is all it takes to solve problems like that.

I just build my first pc  everything is connected correctly.
Take the mainboard of the case and put it on a non-conducting surface (cardboard or anti-static bag) and try barebone configuration only:
    - CPU (reseat CPU and heat sink)
    - one RAM module in Slot 1 (try different brand of memory as well)
    - graphics card
    - PS2 keyboard
    - D-Bracket
    - no hard drives, optical drives, add-on cards, USB devices and USB front panel connectors
    - check all power connections on your mainboard (especially +12V CPU connector (4/8pin and 24pin main power connection) and make sure your graphics card is connected with the 6-pin +12V PCIe plug of your PSU
    - clear CMOS with main power plug removed after hardware changes
See if there are any changes.

  • Created 3 partitions on new Mac Mini, deleted one, and now Bootcamp wont boot anymore! Need help please!

Here's my dilemma.  I have a new Mac Mini - a week old.  I installed Windows 7 on it using Mac's Bootcamp assistant.  I then set up and configured my Windows 7 world and everything worked fine.  No issues logging in between Lion or Win7 via the restart/option key procedure.  Well, yesterday I split my Mac HD partition one more time to create a third partition (was created as an "extra", e.g. possible future partition for another operating system).  After creating it, I then decided that I didn't really need it.  So I deleted it in Disk Utility and attempted to drag the Mac HD partition line downward so as to "fill in the gap" and reclaim the lost hardrive space.  It seemed as if I could reclaim about 1 gig or so, but I figured...oh well.
Well, the Mac HD partition seems to work just fine, but now I've noticed that I can't get into the Bootcamp partition anymore.  It wont boot.  If I try to verify the partition [doesn't even give me "repair" as an option), then it fails and gives me the following error message: "verify volume failed.  invalid request."  When I go to the Startup Disk option in my System Preferences section, it displays the bootcamp partition as a folder and not as a drive anymore.
I'm assuming that I messed up some permissions or lost some vital links during my attempted resizing/reclaiming of harddrive space.  How do I fix this without having to reload either all of my Mac info or all or my Win7 info?  I'd hate to consider the last two days of my life loading this crap up a complete loss.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi surroundsound,
you can't put more partitions on internal HD once you install winOS with Boot Camp.
The sure fix is to delete the windows partition (with Boot Camp Assistant, not Disk Utility), then getting rid of the extra partition (with Disk Utility).
then you can re-install your win& (recreate the win. partition with Boot Camp) - don't add any partitions after.

  • Why wont my brand new macbook pro boot to an external disk?

why wont my brand new macbook pro boot to an external disk?  I have the 10.7.4 on both.  The MBP came with it so I installed it onto the hard drive i have been using the same way with an older macbook pro but the new MBP does not see the startup disk.  So i installed the same version of the os onto the MBP by hooking it up to my imac as a target disk because it would not recognize the install usb stick.  Now the brand new MBP doesnt start up

I had the same issue.  The 2012 macbook pro has a different 10.7.4 build that is not yet available for public release.  It won't boot no matter how much you try.  You need to wait for Mountain Lion and create a start up disk from ML.  Apple most likely will release a 10.7.4 update for the 2012 models, but they are focused on ML now.

If the system won't boot from the new drive the OP bought and install OS X on it it certainly won't boot from the original drives Recovery HD partition.
Sorry genius.....but if the Recovery disk shows up that means the disk cable isn't bad.  Could be he did have a screwed up HDD and when he put the NEW HDD in (after putting the OS on it via USB) the computer didn't reconize it and therefore didn't boot the OS.  Just maybe right genius?  Don't rush to criticize someone's recommendations until you realize other possibilities.  (I did say "if it does")

  • 975x wont boot - new parts

Hi all, im new to this forum but it seems great, i read around abit and found some useful posts.
However, i have the following setup :
    Msi 975x
    c2d 6400
    2gb corsair xms 6400 c4 ( 2*1gb )
    7900gs PoV
    Aspire 550 psu
    I just put the parts toghether again, after having the parts returned to vendor, he claims the first cpu didnt work, and returned the motherboard while i waited for a new cpu to arrive. When i got it i tried the system again, but the following error is still there ;
The system wont boot, other than the fans will spin up but no screen at all, just stands there, when i use the usb led thingy, it shows 4 red dots.
I saw some posts about OCZ memory that wont work, but those were reported as memory issues by the led if im correct, and as i can see it arent 4 red dots the code for CPU , or can the code be wrong and its still the memory ?
The new cpu i got was in an unopened box so it was really new, but i refuse to believe i have broken 2 cpus or have recieved 2 dead cpu from vendor.
Any ideas would be very much welcome.
    Cheers   //  Baboon

    Baboon,
You're not the only one surprised.
I bought THREE 975X PUEs and every time I have re-visited the MSI website I have found new caveats for something the board won't do, or for something that won't work, or for something not included . . . no fixes, mind you, just oddly worded "escape clauses".
    Here are some examples:
    MSI Reminds You...
    • DDR2 800 needs to work with Intel Conroe CPU with FSB1066.
    • The default memory frequency is DDR2 667, you can set to 800 in BIOS settings.
    • Due to the BIOS limits, the Intel RAID and the JMicron RAID functions can not be enabled at the same time, which will cause the system unable to boot up.
    • The RAID setup floppy disk is optional depending on the districts. You can download the files from the website to make the setup disk.
    • To enhance IDE transfer speed, you may install JMicron IDE/SATA Driver. You may download the driver by clicking the "Driver" icon at the left side.
    • The floppy disk cable will be optional.
Yep, the first one was a big surprise to a lot of us sticking in our P4s.  Hello?  Well, OK, maybe the "CPU Support Chart" should have been the "CPU Semi-Support Chart".
OK, I'll even give MSI the first one.  But the third bullet!  Now that one just flat makes me laugh!
Beta Board!  MSI didn't design this Board, it just kinda "happened".

  • Brand new Macbook pro 15inch (not Retina) wont boot my MBP 13 inch (2011) HD

Just bought a brand new macbook pro 15 inch, replaced the hdd with my 13 inch hdd and it wont boot. i got a Error msg. (Lion)
    - I put the new hdd in the old MBP(13 inch) and it boots fine.
    - I put back the old hdd in the MBP(13 inch) and it boots fine.
I figured the hdd wasnt compatable with the 15inch so then i cloned the 13inch hdd onto the 15inch hoping it would work. i still got the error msg.
so now im stuck because the 15inch wont boot from the stock hdd because it has the data from the 13inch. Very frustrating, what could be the logical reason to why it wont boot?

That's correct. The version of Lion you have on your old disk will not boot on the new machine.
What you should have done is make a Time Machine backup of your old drive. You still may be able to buy an enclosure for it and see if you can use Migration Assistant to migrate your apps and data, but I'm not sure that will work (works when an old drive is in another Mac and you transfer via, for instance, Firewire).
So you'll just have to resinatll the correct version of Mountain Lion and then you can TRY to use Migration Asistant to get your data/apps from your old hard drive once it's in an enclosure (again, I'm not sure that it will actually WORK, I've never tried it).
