New Performance Bios

Come on MSI lets get a performance bios designed for overclocking on the K7N2 series of motherboards or I will be forced to look elsewhere.

I too would like this k7n2 motherboards to be more overclockable (i.e. a higher vcore setting to at least 1.95 or so and fsb over 200 would be also nice)... Other motherboards can easily surpass these setting.  I've been happy with msi for the last few years but i just would like to be able to push my processor a bit more... so if the comming bioses didnt correct this in a few months most likely i would switch brands...

    Perhaps the memory clock limit was to address a possible cause of the SSS issue. I've been running 1.37 with Crucial 4x8 gb SODIMMs w/o any issue. They are capable of running at 761MHz but are being clocked at 664.6 Mhz. Not a big deal for me.

    Nice to see the USB device is getting some love.  Is anyone running this new BIOS?  Can anyone confirm if they happened to fix the power-on issue with USB3.0 port?  That's about the only thing I'd be willing to risk a BIOS update for right now.

    Have upgraded it, but did not test the USB problem.
    Can i know power-on issue, even if the computer is off, the usb 3.0 is still running? right?

  • I think there is a bug in the new ec bios for gt60 2OD(ver1513)

    I have put a post on:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=182144.0
    The Post:
    I have bought a GT60 2OD-063CN. I download the new ec bios from the official site , the version is 1513(the stock version is 16f4EMS1 ver 5.04)
    And i follow the offical instruction and unrar the files and use ecwin.bat to update the ec.
    Now it is the problem.
    It seems if I use the ecwin.bat, then the system will use 16f4EMS1 ver713 which is in the 353x document.
    After update the v713 ec, the touch function(fan, back light etc.) is misfunctioned.
    And I manually use the 16f4EMS1 ver 513 ec which is in the 352x document to update, now it seems the touch function is worked again.
    So I wonder what is the differences between the 2 ec bios and what is the mechanism for ecwin.bat to judge which ec should be used?
    After all the auto "ecwin.bat" file will lead you into 353x and use the wrong ec.
    PS: the system is the stock win8. I have take away the barttery to reset the ec.
    It seems some people faced the same problem. I hope msi could correct the ec bios update.

    I'm having the issue on my GT70 2PE that backlight is not working before the Steel series engine drivers is loaded.
    The firmware that I have flashed is w8_1763EMS1.513 and it flashed 353x because SB_DetectToolWin32.exe reported errorlevel 3.
    As I know the backlight keyboard does not light on until SteelSeries Engine is loaded.

  • [Athlon64] New Amibios bios release version 9.20 Should i upgrade or not?

    Hi there guys
    There is a new Amibios bios release and it has release version 9.20
    What’s wrong with the older Amibios bios 9.10 release?
    This must be the second release that has coming out in this year
    This new release can’t be anything for my system?
    Any different`s from the older one?

    Sorry to steal the tread, but I was just wondering if the K8T FIR could work with a Venice core AMD CPU without flashing the BIOS. Do I need an older CPU to get it started?

  • New Intel BIOS for VGA - Satellite A200

    Hello everyone,
    Intel has new vga BIOS for Intel x3100 graphics card, this new bios are in 15.6.1 drivers. My notebook is a Satellite and has this graphic card, and my question is if somebody knows when we can download the new BIOS with new VGA in Toshiba downloads??
    Thanks

    Hi,
    unfortunately this VGA BIOS is not available separately for a mobile system since the VGA BIOS is embedded in the normal BIOS. So if you want to have the latest from toshiba supported VGA BIOS then just update your machines BIOS.
    The problem is that a mobile VGA chipset has another memory and chip timings, so every manufacturer has (especially) its own version of the VGA BIOS.

    Hello, Win8 BIOS doesn't provide new features over Win7 BIOS.
    It is created to follow the new structure created by Microsoft for anti-piracy scheme.
    Win7 BIOS will continue to receive updates if applicable.
    Again, you can't cross flash BIOS if versions are different, thank you.
    1XX => 1XX
    3XX => 3XX
    5XX => 5XX

    As for abdallayousef, sorry about what had happened but you needed to follow instructions. Please kindly contact your local MSI branch for RMA service, thank you.

    Attention:
    Users who download BIOS from here (not using Live Update) should use the flash utility included in the downloaded compressed file when doing the BIOS update. To avoid BIOS update failure, please do not use older versions of the update utility or utilities not provided by MSI.
    - If the notebook you purchased has Win7 Bios installed, please DON'T attempt to update using Windows 8 bios (or vice versa). Failure to abide may result in bricking your system.
    - Although there's a bios detection program written to protect user from cross flashing the bios (Win7 to Win8 bios or vice versa), still DON'T experiment. Failure to abide may result in bricking your system.

  • MSI P45 Plat Performance bios?

    I see from some sites that there is a bios A7512.10J but can't find it to download anywhere. Anybody know where to download these performance bios? There are a few issues with bios 1.0.

    Quote
    A7512.10J
    The BIOS is actually called A7512IMS.10J.  It is not a special performance BIOS but an early BETA BIOS.  The first officially released BIOS for this board is A7512IMS.100 and it is based on A7512IMS.10J.  If you are using BIOS v1.0 already, there is no point in going back to A7512IMS.10J.  You will loose all fixes/adjustion that came with A7512IMS.100.

  • Modded or performance bios sought for p43 neo3-f

    I just got a p43 neo3-f board and have been dissapointed to find it only allowed 417 fsb,after which nothing but bluescreens and lockups on entering windows occur.my chip will definitely go beyond 417, and is able to get to that point with low volts 1.26 and runs cool.Increasing cpu volts,mem,vtt,or mchhave zero effecton this wall..Ive tried  bios version 1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3,and 1.4.It seemed that more options available in 1.3 and 1.4 but they were even worse for stability and none break beyond 417 fsb. It would seem very underwhelming for a p43 or p45 chipset to do so poorly.I wish more bios were available. anyone know where to look? links?,are the bios for the platinum series or other p45 models interchangeable? Any help appreciated, ive spent days trying every concieveable options in the bios and cell menu to no avail. Feed back from anyone with same issue or if you have gotten better results is most welcome. my board uses the ms-7514 bios and is pcb v 1.0.
    my specs in brief are msi p43 neo3-f rev 1.0, E6400 cpu, 2 samsung sp0812c 80gig in raid 0 on jmicron controller, 2gigs gskill ddr 800, palit 8800gt sonic 1 gig card, 400 watt pwr supply with 20 amps on single rail.
    cpu currently at 3.34gig on 1.26v ,mem 2.0v, all other volt settings on auto. idles at 36-40c

    skip741, if you need help and advice regarding overclocking settings, please open a thread in this part of the forum ...

    If you decide to do so, please provide FULL system specifications (read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of what we need to know) and make a list of ALL(!) Cell Menu Settings you have tried so far.

    No, you should under no circumstances try to flash a BIOS that was released for another P4x board unless you want to kill your system.

    anyone know where to look?
    There are two more recent BIOS Version I can upload if you want to test them:
    -> A7514IMS.151 [v1.5B1, Release Date: August 20th 2008, based on v1.40 (official)]
    -> A7514IMS.P09 [v25.0B9, Release Date: July 11th 2008, "Performance"-BIOS]
    Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Changelogs of these Files.

  • P45 Platinum [MS-7512 PCB 1.x]: BETA & Performance BIOS Versions

    I will upload the latest Performance BIOS I could get my hand on.  Unfortunately, I cannot provide changelogs at this point.
    The BIOS is labeled A7512IMS.P0D and will appear as v25.0b13 on the POST Screen and in BIOS Setup. The BIOS was released on June 13th 2008.
    I have just flashed it on a P45 Platinum Board that I have here for testing and found that memory compatibility has somewhat improved.
    For those that are considering to give this BIOS a try:  remember, the risk is yours and yours alone!
    The archive contains the a flashing utility an can be used with the MSIHQ Forum USB Flashin tool (Method I):
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
    /EDIT: I added the latest BETA-BIOS of the official BIOS series: A7512IMS.115.  It was released on June 13th as well.  Again, use this BIOS at your own risk and don't complain if anything goes wrong.

    Quote
    If the only versions that work with certain hardware combinations that are claimed to be compatible are Beta or Performance Versions then they should be available for public use
    Every official BIOS-Version is based on the preceding BETA-BIOS-Versions.  The Final A7512IMS.110-Release will be based on the preceding A7512IMS.11x-BETAs.  Sometimes, BETA-BIOS-Versions that have proven themselves are renamed and released as an official version.  So the changes will be made public at some point.  I uploaded the non-official versions precisely because they may be of help to others even though they are not available on official MSI Download Sites.

    I feel like a child who has been chastised for daring to question the standard "because I said so"
    I opened this thread to share (not necessarely stable) BETA-BIOS-Releases with users that are willing to test not officially released BIOS Versions and are aware of the risks involved.  Feedback (positive & negative) on system behaviour is welcome and in the best interest of everyone who has this board. The intention behind this is to offer alternatives to help users that have problems with official versions and to collect experience based information.
    I did not open this thread to discuss MSI's BIOS Release Policies (nobody here has any true influence on it and I am aware that it does not meet the wishes and expectations of every user) and I did not start this topic to talk about the experience different users have had with MSI Technical Support.  If you want to discuss these questions, open your own topic and if you have concrete suggestions that concern MSI policies and procedures, direct them to MSI directly (nobody here works for MSI).
    This said, I invite you to share your own experiences with specific BIOS Versions in this thread to provide information that may be helpful to other users.

    If you want to insult me because you feel personally offended by the way I am trying to point out that I do not want to let this thread about specific BIOS Versions for the P45 Platinum mainboard be turned into a general discussion of what MSI should do to enhance individual customer satisfaction, please do that via PM and I will gladly respond.
    Now, back to topic:  I will post future Performance & BETA BIOS releases as soon as I get my hands on them.  So far, vP0D & v1.1b5 are the latest versions I had access to and I have no idea when there be further updates and at what point a final and official version can be expected.

  • MS-6215 Video Standby problem - need new VGA BIOS

    MSI Tech Support please respond to this----
    I have issues with the Video on the MS-6215 (MS-6351) board. I originally had a version 1 PCB that had numerous stability issues, BUT it worked just fine when connect to the Composite Video Out only and NOT the VGA out. In other words, I had it connected to a TV for a HTPC-type setup. But, they finally fixed some of the issues and I updated the BIOS, well, with that BIOS they included a new Intel i815 VGA BIOS. It only now occurs to me that is important. Well, So now I can turn the computer on and use it on the TV, but once I have it go to standby (any form S1, S3, etc), the video will not return on wake up and the system is completely unresponsive.
    MSI graciously *after 5 months of fighting to hear back from them* RMA'd the board and provided me with a Ver 5 PCB. Still the same Video problem. THe latest BIOS still includes a VERY old, and perhaps very buggy VGA BIOS.
    There is a much more recent (and have been SEVERAL since the one included in your downloadable mobo BIOS) of the VGA BIOS available at intel's website.
    I am convinced that it is simply the VGA BIOS that needs to be updated. COULD YOU PLEASE Integrate Intel's newest 815 VGA BIOS into an update so that the system is usable. Its a pain to have to leave it on 24x7. when I only really need it to wake up when I need files off it or want to use the HTPC functions.
    The latest version intel has is 2682  dated 7/18/2002
    The version you included is 2462. mobo bios dated 10/23/2001
    link to Intel's version - http://ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/4657/a08/win2k_xp67.zip
    it is found in the vbios folder.
    THANK YOU!!!

    Thank you wonkanoby - maybe this will finally clear up the issue. I can't imagine it is all that hard to integrate the new Video BIOS and up the version number to 2.1
    Please, someone in MSI's BIOS building dept, take 15 minutes out and fix a very blatant problem - it will make me and perhaps many other users VERY HAPPY!
