New Phone doesn't recognize iCloud backup photos!!

My iPhone lock button stopped working so I took it to the apple store and they swapped it out for a new one thankfully since it was under warranty.  The gentleman said that it would take about 20min to upgrade it to ios7 and transfer the infor from my previous retore that ws in iCloud so that I could just do that at home if I wanted to.  I opted to go ahead and do it from home since the Apple Store had sooo many people in it.  I came home and updated to iOS7 and selected my backup from the night before which was 2.7GB.  Everything looked likee all my apps are on my phone, but none of the data really. And my photo stream had showed 814 pictures the night before and 314 photos on my camera roll. Currently there are only 94 photos on my phone!!   How do I get ALL!! Of the back up to restore to my phone please??
Thank you.

Photo stream servers only keep photos for up to 30 days then they are deleted.  These photos will remain on a device's photo stream folder, but if the stream is turned off and then on again, only the currently stored photos are downloaded back to the device.  This is what happened to you.
Always move photos from a photo stream group to another album for safe keeping.
Using icloud backup to secure photos is risky for a number of reasons.  Always sync photos to a computer for archiving.

  • TS4036 i need to restore my new phone from my old icloud backup

i need to restore my phone with my icloud backup. my phone had to be set up as a new phone to install the newest opperating system , now i can not retreave my old information backed up in icloud

To restore from your iCloud backup, go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  Then go through the setup screens on your phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure it is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

  • Why wont my new phone restore to my icloud backup?

I  just got my phone from the apple store, because i needed mine replaced. When im doing the setup it says, "Choose to set up as a new iphone or restore from a backup"
When i go to restore from icloud, it then says "No icloud backups are compatible with the version of iOS (6.0.2) on this iphone."
What does that mean? and why cant i restore it! i know for a fact i had all my stuff backed up to icloud, i did it right before i got a new phone, i also did it once a week.
    please help

Exactly what's happened to me... Did u manage to solve the problem?

  • New phone still restoring from iCloud backup

i have purchased a 5s four days ago, it's stating still restoring  from iCloud backup.
my old phone 4s I backed up to cloud wifi and launched new phone data through wifi as have no computer.  it won't let me access any apps or iTunes or complete iOS 8.3 until this is completed. Help please.

I finally got mine to work. I let the iphone run its course and it finally restored everything. I wanted to make sure I got everything back, but it didn't sync my non itunes purchased music, so I had to manually do that via the computer. By my estimates it took almost 80 hours, minus 20 of those spent at work and odd hours here and there when I wasn't connected to wifi. So about 50ish
It is frustrating though that it took so long. Apple needs to come up with a better solution in the future. I thought this problem was solved last year with the problems that plagued the ios7 update. It will probably only get worse since iCloud storage just got upped for everyone.

  • How can i recover my photos if i restored my phone but turned off icloud backup?

how can i recover my photos if i restored my phone but turned off icloud backup?

Do you have any backup at all for your device? If you do, then you can restore from that backup and get any photos that were on it. If you have imported your photos to your computer, you can sync them back to your device via an iTunes sync. If you had Photo Stream turned on, you can recover your Photo Stream for the last 30 days or 1000 photos on that Photo Stream (whichever comes first) by signing onto the iCloud account that the Photo Stream was turned on for.

  • When i synced with my ipad all my photos in iphoto on my macbook disappeared.  When I try to sync again, iphoto doesn't recognize the 1500 photos that are still on my ipad.  How do I get them back onto my macbook?

When I synced my iPad2 with my MacBook Pro, all my photos in iPhoto disappeared on my MacBook but remained on the iPad.  I want to get the back onto my MacBook, but when I connect the iPad, it doesn't recognize that the photos are there.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Hi, I have recently upgraded from and Iphone 4 to 5.  I completed a back up on my iphone 4 via icloud which went ok.  When setting up my new phone I selected to set up as a new phone and not via icloud back up.  Is there anyway I can restore my details to my new phone?  Thanks Hayley

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

  • Migrated old back-up to new MacBook Pro, but now new machine doesn't recognize old back-up

So last night I migrated my old back-up to my new MacBook Pro, but this morning my new machine doesn't recognize my old back-up. I'd rather not erase and back-up from scratch for numerous reasons (losing the old data, time, etc).
Any suggestions? I'll bet this is a realatively common issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Looking back, at your original posts....it said it needed 774 GB?? is that at all reasonable for a full backup of your system??
Maybe there's something more than meets the eye?
Also maybe we can figure out what went wrong with the tmutil command. It is possible that you may have to use additional options.
But first le's see who owns the old backup....
From the terminal command line try this:
sudo xattr -l "path to your backup"
Where "path to your backup" is tha same path exactly as used in the tmutil command, that is:
    /Volumes/"Backups Device Name"/Backups.backupdb/"Backup Name"
You should get something like this for output:
    com.apple.backupd.BackupMachineAddress:
    00000000  30 30 3A 31 64 .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..  |00:1d:..:..:..:.|
    00000010  34 00                                            |4.|
    00000012
    com.apple.backupd.HostUUID:
    00000000  41 34 32 30 43 .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..  |A420Cxxxxxxxxxxx|
    00000010  .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..  |xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|
    00000020  32 37 37 42 00                                   |277B.|
    00000025
    com.apple.backupd.ModelID: MacPro3,1
The "BackupMachineAddress" is the MAC address of the Ethernet port your mother board.
You can find the MAc address in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report -> Network -> Ethernet 1
The "HostUUID" is the identifier of your mother board.
You can find it in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report ->Hardware Overview  [that's the first thing that shows when you select System report]
These are the way the connection of the backup to a machine is made.
Now the tmutil inheritbackup comand should have set them to the correct values for your new machine.
But let's' see if any of them match the new machine and then see of we haveany more options.

  • New imac doesn't recognize firewire 400

Just got the new imac and transferred all data from my old (non-intel) imac using a firewire 400-to-800 adapter.
Now, my new imac doesn't recognize my external (400 firewire) drives anymore. One of the drives has an USB which works with the new mac but transfers are very vey slow. The other drive has only firewire 400 and doesn't get recognized at all.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks.

Adapters can be troublesome, I'd recommend replacing with a Firewire 400 to 800 cable like this one. You can normally find these at your local computer store, Radio Shack or of course Amazon.

  • TS4268 i've backup in itunes with another phone number activation , now i want active with new phone number without losing old backups , what can i do for this problem ?? :(

i've backup in itunes with another phone number activation , now i want active with new phone number without losing old backups , what can i do for this problem ??

If I get this right, you've ported your phone number to AT&T with the purchase of the iPhone. That is considered opening your own account under your name. Your brother's account is not ported to AT&T unless you used his SS# instead of yours. Your brother still has his account under Verizon Wireless, all you did was use your cell phone number to when you opened your own AT&T account.
If you don't want to use your Verizon Wireless phone #, my suggestion is to call AT&T customer service and explain that you want a new phone number instead of the ported Verizon number.

you will want to go to settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings. this will take you to setup assistant again to choose icloud backup.
*MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A BACKUP
*MAKE SURE YOU CAN CONNECT TO WIFI
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
After you do the steps Janessa provided you, when the setup screen comes up after you restore the device, you will have to choose "Restore this Device from iCloud", and that will allow you to get all the information you have backed up on iCloud, and like Janessa said make 100% sure you 1, have a backup in iCloud, and 2, The backup in iCloud is somewhat up to date

  • My imac doesn't recognize my backup drive anymore, what can i do?

My Imac doesn't recognize my backup drive anymore, what can i do?

Unfortunately, that usually means the drive has died although it doesn't mean some other hardware failure or even software failure (in some cases.)
I think the wise thing to do is take it in for service.

  • Water damaged so got new phone. Restore from iCloud? or Older iTunes backup?

Hi. My wife bricked her old iPhone 6 by water damage. We now have a new unactivated phone from Verizon. My question is...how should I restore her new phone? From her daily iCloud backup? Or from the older iTunes backup from a few months ago?
I've heard that iCloud restores don't typically restore everything like Photos, etc, so I'm wondering if I just try to restore from the older iTunes backup to get more of the photos back.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If the photos were in the Camera Roll then they will be in the iCloud backup.
