New Phone, Help needed.. Unable to update... Please Help!!!

I just picked up a new Curve 9300 3g. I figured since OS6 is out for this model, i might as well update it to the new platform before I start using it. But I am stuck as the update does not seem to go through.
Here is what I did.
1) I installed BB desktop SW (ver 6.1.1.18). It detscts my phone, and is running fine.
2) I downloaded the Device SW(Starhub version) from the Site.
Software For BlackBerry® Curve™ 3G smartphone (model: 9300)
BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1478 (Multilangauge)
Package Version: 6.0.0.1478
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.380
Software Platform: 6.6.0.86
File name: 9300jAsia_PBr6.0.0_rel1478_PL6.6.0.86_A6.0.0.380_StarHub_Ltd.exe
File size: 148.79MB
3) Installed the device on my PC.
4) Deleted the 'vendor.xml' file from program files/common files/RIM/apploader
5) Ran the 'loader.exe' in the same folder
After clicking next a couple of times I get an error "The BB desktop SW does not have BB device SW for the device that yo have connected to the computer... contact your.."
I am attaching a screenshot with the error. You can also see the apploader folder behind.
I have tried this in two machines one with XP and the other one with Win 7 on it.
Same result!!!
Please advice where am i going wrong.

Sadly, i dont have an answer for you, but thank you for posting this incredibly detailed post, because i have had the exact same problem.
i have gone through all the steps that you went through and came to the exact same result.
i was told from pretty well every source that what i did should of worked, so im just as lost as you are.
thankfully telus said on their offical twitter account that the 9300 will be getting an offical update by the first week of february at the latest

Nothing you can do, sorry to say. If it will not turn on there is absolutely nothing you can do now to backup what is on it. The whole point of a backup is to have made it before disaster strikes. Now, with a dead iPhone, all you can do is accept the loss of your data.
You will be able to re-download iTunes and App store purchases since they are tied to your AppleID, not your device.
Have you been using iCloud for backup? If you have, then you should have a backup in iCLoud you can use to restore your replacement phone with. iCloud backups are automatic (once every 24hrs, whenever your device is on wifi, plugged in and asleep).

Don't get what you mean. Do you mean you need more 610MB to update to iOS 8? If so, I suggest you try to update to iOS 8 via iTunes, because it requires less storage. And you can also try SafeEraser to reclaim more storage for your iPhone 5 by removing junk files.

That means you have not a backup before accidentally restore your new iPhone 5.
So you should recover your new pictures and info with a third recovery tool.

In step 1, you should choose 'Recover from iOS Device' in the main interface and then following the steps to get your pictures and info back.

Go to iTunes/Settings/Devices and see if there is still a backup from the time before you synced the phone.
If yes, use it to restore from: Backing Up, updating, and restoring your iPhone and iPod touch software
If you're running TimeMachine as well, restore the iTunes backup folder, located here:
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac:~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

You can't link your Apple IDs, all you need to do is use the same ID on all devices and your contacts etc will sync.

phone. However, I feel that there are some shortcomings with the
phone, which need to be addressed by firmware upgrades. I am listing

1) The camera has a VERY noticeable green tint
2) The video playback in full screen mode using RealPlayer is VERY
slow and choppy
3) In the "Missed Calls" part of the call log, there is NO way to
determine WHICH number of the contact was the call missed - "Mobile
Number", "Tel.(home)", "Tel.(office)" or what? The only way to
determine is to call back using the same screen, which is VERY
counterintuitive!

Will a new phone help? If so, how do I make it happen?

For the 7th or 8th time in less 6 days, I'm waiting for my iPhone 3G to finish restoring after in went into permanent "broken-apple logo" mode. I've tried everything I've found listed here (turning off and on before each application installation or update, doing a restore from scratch and redownloading all my applications, etc.), and nothing seems to help.
Will a new phone be any better? If so, how do I convince the "Genius" to make the exchange for me?
If a new phone won't be any better, how can I get my money back? I'm outside the 30 days, but it seems like the phone is clearly not delivering on Apple's promises (3G is iffy at best, applications seem to crash the phone and prevent using it for hours at a time). Do I talk to the manager? Someone at Apple?

I'm hoping to do the same. I'm currently waiting for my 5th restore. I have little hope that a new phone will help, but I'm just out of ideas at this point. My wife also has the iPhone 3G and hers has been pretty solid. I'm thinking mine might be defective.

It is likely that the device has unrepairable harm done to it having it washed in the washing machine. However, one thing that could be tried would be to have the device placed in a glad bag full of un-cooked rice and leave it there for 72 hours to see if this will absorb residual moisture showing up on the display glass. It could be assumed that if there is that much moisture showing it's unlikely attempting to draw out moisture will be sucessful.

When you say that you saved your photos to iCloud, are you referring to doing an iCloud backup? If you are attempting to recover from an iCloud backup over Wi-Fi, the process can take a long time to complete.
The restore process is taking a long time to finish.
The amount of time needed by the restore process depends on your geographical location and the speed of your Internet connection. Even with a fast Internet connection, the restore process might take 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte to complete.
If you're traveling between countries, the restore process might take longer than usual. iCloud is tuned to provide the best service when you're in the geographical location from which you most frequently connect to the Internet. When restoring from an iCloud backup, iCloud is tuned to provide the best service in the geographical region you were in when you created the backup.
