New Phone System Help

I've been trying to get information on what to get for a new phone system, but both Cisco, and Cisco partners are being unhelpful. I guess they don't want my money. Anyways...
I'm looking at a UC560.
Does this come with CME?
Here's my scenario:
Cisco 2821 Advanced IP IOS 124-24.T3.
100 staff
30-45 phones. (Our staff share phones)
Currently 5 different lines, possibly going to high as 10.
1Gb backbone switched network using Catalyst 2960.
We want to be able to use Cisco Mobile 8.1 on our iPhones.
Any suggestions?
It's so hard finding information for these things, even when I do contact a partner!

Hi Nick
In the interests of being a Cisco partner that does try to assist , here's a few pointers:
1. A UC560 does indeed run CME. It's a bundle of IOS, CME, CUE (voicemail), 8 PoE ports and also analog / digital interfaces depending on the model chosen. The UC560 can support up to 104 handsets / users.
2. On this note, your 2821 can also run CME (simply with the purchase of the CME Software and some additional modules) and can support up to 48 handsets.
Both the UC560 and 2821 can support a variety of interfaces to connect to external lines incuding analog (FXS, FXO and E&M) and digital (ISDN PRI and BRI). No issue with supporting 10 incoming calls on either platform.
Net result, you'll need to decide whether you want to run CME (and possibly Unity Express) on you current 2821, or purchase a new UC560. My gut feeling (without doing the maths) is that it will probably be cheaper to go with the UC560 as you'll may need additional DRAM /flash on the 2821, you'll need a new software license, Unity Express module, DSPs etc.
CME 8.6 supports the iPhone software client, so you will need to ensure that you get the correct software image on your 2821 / UC560 depending on which way you go.
The 2960 is a suitable platform for running this size of network. There are various models available with PoE, gigabit uplinks etc. It has no layer 3 switching support, so you'll need another device to route between your VLANs which can either be an additional layer 3 switch (3560 or higher) or the CME router itself. Be careful of running high layer 3 traffic through a CME box. I've seen calls dropped when one of my esteemed colleagues started copying multi gigabit VMware images around when the CME Router was doing the layer 3.
HTH. If you need any more details, post back here.

Keep powering your phone off and back on, it can take up to 2 hours for a normal service provider to finalize the activation process.  When you got your new iPhone (congrats by the way) you should have received a little bubble that appeared that told you when the phone was activated, did you see that?

  • Getting a new phone - need help transitioning

I had my Palm Pre Plus for Verizon for just over a month when the phone overheated and became non-functional.  The Verizon store was unable to restore the phone to operational status and I am being shipped a new Palm Pre Plus.
Anyway, before the phone became totally disabled, I connected the device to my computer via USB and backed up all of the internal directories and files contained on the Pre Plus.  Question:  Am I able to restore all of the text messages, attachments, and photographs to the new phone?  I am not worried about the email, contacts, and calendar since these were synchronized with my Google account and am assuming I can do the same with the new phone.
It looks as though much of this information is store in the directories I backed up.
    Thank you.
Post relates to: Pre Plus p101vzw (Verizon)

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Text messages, call logs, ringtone preferences, etc. are not backed up in the Profile, and are not stored on the USB portion of the drive. Pictures, mp3s, movies, and documents are stored in the USB drive, and those will be recovered.
As for attachments saved from emails, it depends on what type of attachment as to whether or not the file will be in the part of the USB drive you can access.
    Hope this helps,

  • Don't see photos from icloud.  Replaced broken 4s w/new phone.  Help! How do I get photos back? They don't show up on icloud online but phone says broken phone was backed up yesterday under manage storage.  How do I use this backup?

Please help.  Replaced broken phone w/new 4s.  I did as the genius bar guy said and did reset>erase all content and settings at home because he said it would take too long in the store.  Last time I had to replace my phone, all the photos and video were there.  Now they're not.  I had set up icloud but when i typed in "my restore from icloud", nothing came up.  I NEED those pictures and videos.  They're the last photos and videos I have of my mother who passed away recently.  Please I need them back.  I feel like I've lost her all over again.  Please someone help.  I went to icloud>storage & backup>manage storage and i see that those pictures were backed up yesterday yet I don't see any pictures or picture icon in icloud.com.  Please someone help me get those pictures back.  They're priceless and they're the last I have left of my mother.

If this is your first sync and there is already data on the phone, perform the steps listed below.  This will transfer your apps and other media purchased from the iTunes store to your iTunes library, perform a manual backup and restore, then sync the iTunes media back to the phone from your iTunes library.  This will not transfer media from other sources such as music from your ripped CDs.  As you said you never synced before, I assume all of your apps, music and other media was purchased from the iTuens and App stores.  If this is correct, you won't lose anything.
    Download and install iTunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/.
Launch iTunes, go to the View menu and click to check Show Sidebar.
Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices if using Windows) and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".
Go to Store>Authorize This Computer and authorize all Apple IDs used to purchase apps and other iTunes media (music, podcasts, movies, tv shows, etc.) on your phone.
On her phone, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and turn iCloud Backup to Off.
Connect her phone to your computer and in iTunes go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer your purchased media to your iTunes library.
Right-click on the name of the phone on the left side of iTunes and click "Reset Warnings".
Right-click on the name of the phone again and click "Back Up" to back up the phone.
Right-click again and choose "Restore from Backup...", select the backup you just made to restore from and restore the backup to your phone.  If prompted to back up again, decline.
Go to the Info tab and make sure nothing is checked so you aren't syncing calendars, contacts, etc. with iTunes.
Go to the Summary tab and select This Computer under Automatically Back Up.
Check the other tabs to confirm that your sync settings are the way you want them.
Click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.

  • Can't get old calendar onto new phone. Help!

Hi - just got a replacement Droid Inc. 2 for mine that was dropped and shattered yesterday. Having a problem getting my calendar from my old Inc. 2 to sync with my new Inc. 2. I've never kept a calendar on Google, just kept appointments on my phone. Maybe this is the problem?  Someone...please help me. I do not want to have to manually enter everything on my calendar! Thanks for your help!

If you only kept the calendar data on the phone you sure do have a problem because if the device is damaged you can not access the information...  You should always backup the calendar to Google if you need to keep the calendars information..
Can you see anything on the screen, if so you might can add the calendar information to Google and have it sync and then you can transfer them that way...

  • Installing Xsan 1.0 on a new tiger system - Help - Urgent

    Here's my situation
I purchased a version 1.0 copy of Xsan.
I am trying to install it on a new dual 2.7 G5 with tiger installed.
It says I cannot do this because the version of xsan and tiger are not compatible.
Is there a way to do this, or am I screwed?
Thanks in advance for your help
    DBK

Ok, first what's the version of Tiger? and who sold you a 1.0 version knowing that you were running Tiger? You will need the 1.2 version and then you'll need the 1.3 upgrade from apple.
Please take your time to plan the build of your Xsan and the deployment as well.
Poor planning with this type of software and hardware will come back to bite you!!!

  • HT1766 New phone - need help with installation

I had an iphone 4s and now have a new iphone 4s. I'm trying to use my backup from icloud however it says IOS 7.1 is required and I don't know how to get past it??

You need to go through two distinct steps:
    1.  Update your new iPhone to iOS 7.1.  Go to Settings > General > Software Update to do this.
    2.  Restore your old iPhone's backup.  On your new iPhone, do Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.  You will be invited to restore the backup as part of the setup process.

Transferred from iPhone 3GS to 4. Backed up and restored smoothly. Still getting a "no service" message in the upper left corner of new phone. Help?.....

  • I did not sync music properly to computer from iphone3.  have new iphone4.  how can i get music off old phone onto new one.  new phone all set up.  help

I did not sync my iphone3 music to my computer.  Thought I did it properly but did not.  New at this stuff.  Now my IT person installed and configured my new iphone4 and my music is on old phone.  Anyway to get it to new phone.  Help.:)

Set up your new phone as if it were the old one. Settings, mail, mobile me, same email same password that you used on old phone. You can still sync the old phone to iTunes library. You may have to click on picture of phone on the left & click on back up iPhone.  You'll see songs, contacts & calendar downloading in apple slot at the top. When done connect new phone. Authorize computer put in apple ID when that screen comes up & that should allow both phones to share the library. If you use the same ID the same information will be on both phones.

  • Will a new phone help? If so, how do I make it happen?

For the 7th or 8th time in less 6 days, I'm waiting for my iPhone 3G to finish restoring after in went into permanent "broken-apple logo" mode. I've tried everything I've found listed here (turning off and on before each application installation or update, doing a restore from scratch and redownloading all my applications, etc.), and nothing seems to help.
Will a new phone be any better? If so, how do I convince the "Genius" to make the exchange for me?
If a new phone won't be any better, how can I get my money back? I'm outside the 30 days, but it seems like the phone is clearly not delivering on Apple's promises (3G is iffy at best, applications seem to crash the phone and prevent using it for hours at a time). Do I talk to the manager? Someone at Apple?

I'm hoping to do the same. I'm currently waiting for my 5th restore. I have little hope that a new phone will help, but I'm just out of ideas at this point. My wife also has the iPhone 3G and hers has been pretty solid. I'm thinking mine might be defective.
On a somewhat related note, am I the only one who finds the "Genius" label a bit pretentious? I don't know why but I cringe every time I hear it. It's almost as lame as "Geek Squad".

  • Can I leverage Skype Lync O365 integration for full phone system?

Have O365 enterprise and need new phone system for startup.  Can I leverage Skype for voice account and leverage Lync/ exchange features together?
we are want no on premise environment.
can I do this without Lync server?  if not,  does Lync server exists as a subscription?
    Layman's terms please.
    thanks in advance!

The equipment needed is at minimum a Lync server (if you use a SIP trunk from an ITSP) otherwise you will also need a voice gateway. The license comes as part of an E4 subscription.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/business/office-365-enterprise-e4-business-software-FX104034562.aspx
Without knowing the requirements and scoping it out properly, based on you saying that it's a home office environment I'd be more inclined to use the ITSP.
If you scroll to the very bottom of the page I've linked to - you will see this: "Lync enterprise voice capabilities require a customer
to purchase and deploy Lync Server, either on-premises or in a hosted data-center, to enhance or replace traditional PBX systems"

  • Phone system

    Hi All,
I am looking at setting up a new phone system.
The features I'm after are a system which can handle different phone call requests. for example. Press number 1 for sales. Press number 2 for support. etc.
And then people can leave messages for either sales or support.
Also after business hours change to a different voice message.
I am currently on a windows network running sbs2003.
We have a netgear router for internet and networking.
At the moment I need only one handset, but would like to upgrade to max of 4 in the future.
We only have 1 phone line coming in.
IS the SPA9000 able to do all of this. I cant see anywhere that it says that a caller from outside can leave a message if we are unable to answer it?

most of what you said can be handled by the SPA9000 except for voicemail -- this is possible if you add an SPA400 in the equation ( this device has 4 FXO ports for PSTN lines and VM capability  which is integrated in the SPA9000)
for you to be able to use all the features on the SPA9000 system i suggest that you use SPA9xx IP phones like SPA942, SPA962, SPA941, etc.
btw: if you decide to get this system make sure that you purchase it from a Linksys Value Added Reseller that supports any configuration that you might need in the future because as of now end-users are routed to their resellers for help when you call technical support

  • How do i get my apps and old info onto new phone

I recently upgraded my phone, now I cant get my apps or anything off of my account onto the new phone? help please

Lucky you, a dead iPhone and a dead computer!  If you were backing up your old computer to an external drive then you might be able to recover your backup file.  But if you don't have a backup of your old computer then you're outta luck, iTunes itself does not contain the backup file.
If you have a backup of your old computer's hard drive, your iPhone's backup file would be located at:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista or 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You would then put the iPhone backup file into the same location on the new computer, then restore the iPhone and select this backup.

  • CRM On-Demand Intergration with Phone System

    Hello,
We have now began looking at requirements for a new phone system for the company. I have been asked to investigate what our departmental requirements are.
Due to the fact that i manage the Company CRM i am asking that a key requirement must be that the new Phone System integrates with our Oracle CRM On-demand Application.
Has anyone integrated their On Demand application with a phone system other than all the Oracle applications such as "CCA" or "Call Centre on-Demand".
Can you recommend or do know of any products that are able to integrate with on_demand?
