New Photoshop Questions

Right now, I have Photoshop Elements 4 and I am thinking about upgrading, but while trying the trials of the newer photoshop, I had some questions.
Can you unfloat the floating menus? I do not like the floating Windows and would like to know if there is a way to embed them like in Elements 4 where you can either minimize them or expand them when they are needed.
Also, is there a simpler way to switch between open projects? Elements 4 has a handy box at the bottom where you can just click on the thumbnail of the other project and switch to it, so far, I can only figure out how to do that through the Window menu.

depends on the floating windows, you can dock floating panels but you can't dock the filter dialog boxes. To dock a panel just drag it by it's title next to another panel until you see a blue bar.

I spend a fair bit of time answering question on this forum, but I had to do a clean reinstall of my operating system, and reload all programs recently. And I can't say it was particulary easy to find and download the Desktop Application manager, which handles the rest of the installations for you.

"File New Photoshop File" opens Preview instead

Hi there!
I am posting this question, because i couldn't find any solution in the FAQs or within PremierePro CS5.5. Plus i trust, that there's someone out there that knows the answer...
Thing is, in a normal sequence I choose File > New > Photoshop File and Premiere asks the normal question about filesize and so on. BUT instead of opening Photoshop (I have PS CS4), it opens the Program "Preview". Which doesn't help much since in preview you cannot even draw anything. I checked if i can just change that setting somehow to open Photoshop but no success...
Anybody familiar with this? Would be great!

Ok, then a little bit more precise:
I am inside PremierePro CS 5.5 and there exists a function in the file menu (Link as above: File > New > Photoshop File...) that directly opens a photoshop document with the size, pixel aspect ratio and framerate of my current Premiere sequence. So i click on that and Premiere is supposed to open Photoshop. Instead it opens a program, that is called "Preview" (i'm working on a MAC, i forgot to mention that before, sorry). Now Preview is only good vor previews and not for editing images.
To put it in other words, my problem is, that Premiere should open Photoshop and generate a new file fitting to my sequence, but instead it opens Preview.
Of course, I could open a new PSD-File in Photoshop but then i would have to manually type in the size of the image and so on. And since there is a built-in feature in Premiere, i would like to use that instead of going the long way.
So basically i am searching for the place where i can "tell" Premiere which graphics program to open.

However I am prompted to enter answers to security questions and am told they don't match. How to I create new security questions or reset them?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

BRAND NEW PHOTOSHOP CS6 NOT SHOWING MY IMAGES

Hi everyone,
I'm in desperate need of some help. I just bought a brand new photoshop cs6 extended for Windows. I have successfully installed the software. It opens fine. As soon as I drag an imagr or open an image in photoshop, it shows up like you would see a transparent background. The only place you can see the image is in the history or layer panel. Has this happened to anyone else before? I hope the software isn't corrupted or faulty.

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

New Guy Question about Name Changes from Logical to Relational

Sorry for the "New Guy" question. I am trying to do this the way I wished it worked rather than the way it does.
Lets say I have an Entity named "Current Database" with an Attribute named "Current Database Name". All this is in plan english for the Logical Model. Now when I generate the Relational Model I would like the Table named "CDCD_CURRENT_DB" and the column named "CURRENT_DB_NAME".
I have been working with a Glossary and some other features trying to get this to work. It kind of does but I do not fully get it and I think I am missing out on much of the power of the product. I have been forcing the Nickname "CDCD" (As we call it) and the "Database" to "DB" in the "Preferred Abbreviation" of the Entity.
I am working with v3.3.0.734

it can be done with glossary but it looks to me what you want is not that native to glossary approach.

If you want to use preferred abbreviation then it should be CDCD_CURRENT_DB.
For me CDCD_ is just a prefix - you can handle it separately in relational model - on whole model, on subview and in both cases classification types also can be used to determine how objects are prefixed.
You don't want Current to be abbreviated then do not put it in glossary however you need to check "Incomplete modifiers" check box in glossary.
Entity property "Short name" goes to table abbreviation during engineering. There is a transformation script which will prefix table columns with table abbreviation if you need it. And another one can remove the prefix.
You can define plural name in glossary and if entity name is a single word then plural will be used during name translation.

Scanned photo appears striated after selected and pasted into new photoshop file.

I was wondering how to select a photo from a scan. I used the various selection tools and then copied and pasted the photo into a new photoshop document ane the scan appears striated and strange. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly?

I scanned it in at 300 dpi. I didn't change it from RGB to CMYK. I am scanning the photos for the purose of a video which I was going to convert it ot 72 dpi later. I'm also planning to archive these photos hence why I scanned them in at 300 dpi and saved it as a tiff file. I scanned several photos at once. I didn't use the crop and straighten option because the photos are from the 70's and the edges are rounded. I wanted to maintain that look so I used the pen tool to get a decent selection. For kicks and giggles, I tried copying and pasting a screen shot I took and the same striation occured. I then downloaded a picture from google images and copied and pasted it and the same thing happened. Could there be something wrong with my program? I have all the updates for it. Also, when I rotate the images the opacity changes and I get columns appearing on the photo.
This isn't the photo I scanned but the fact that it was scanned doesn't seem to matter. There seems to be something wrong with my program. I used an older version of photoshop elements I have with no problem, but for many reasons I don't really want to use elements. I hope this helps. Thanks

What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID passwordsign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password
contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.

I'd like to use Organiser part of Element 9 with my new Photoshop CC to manage my photographs, is this possible ?. Photoshop CC seems to offer only the photo editing functions, with organiser I can sort, tag and organise all of the photographs.

Most subscribers will use Lightroom for organizing their photos. Lightroom will automatically recognize an installed copy of Photoshop CC. But you could use Organizer. Simply select a thumbnail and then from the Organizer menu bar click:
Edit >> Edit with Photoshop or use Ctrl+H
