New playlists don't populate to "music" tab to sync

Since Itunes 9, half my playlists don't appear in my "music" tab for me to sync to my ipod. Can't seem to make it happen. Any suggestions?

Oh, I forgot to mention. On the new computer, in iTunes, I can right-click on my iPhone and select "backup" and it works fine. I don't know if that helps in any way. My main concern is not losing my saved data from all the apps I use.

Under the Music tab for your iPod Sync preferences with iTunes, choose selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres instead of entire library.
Select the iTunes playlists, and/or artists, albums, genres you want transferred to your iPod followed by a sync. This will remove the music from your iPod that you don't want on the iPod.

I got a new iPhone 5 and my itunes music will not sync properly. it will show up on the phone but it is light gray wording and they are not selected only a few songs work. The grayed out music just takes up space. Someone please help.

I am so relieved to hear that I am not the only one experiencing this! However, I am sorry to hear you are going through this as well. Lucky for me I am upgrading to a 5s which will be sent to me on Wednesday. I cannot get any new playlists on my phone when i try to sync it why!?

the play lists on my phone are completely different than the ones on my computer and i have never synced my phone with another computer but im trying to create new playists on my computer and sync them to my phone and it will not let me please help im dying i just spent hours downloading new music to sync and i cant get them to sync!!

I recently needed to replace my desktop, Whern it was all set up I connected my iPhone and synced it to the new desktop. Everything syncs but my music. All my purchased mucic syncs but not my own CDs. I've now loaded all my CDs onto the new desktop, created the playlists, etc. I connected my iPhone again and made sure the computer is authorized and clicked on the image of my iPhone on the left side of the screen. I then clicked on Sync entire music library and clicked on Apply. But my music still will not sync. What do I need to do?

Try clicking on your iPhone under devices- go to the Music tab - uncheck sync music- Remove Music - Click apply - Wait for sync to finish then try rechecking sync music - Apply.

Losing library of music as i sync each time

every time i sync my itunes with my 3G i look and see that my entire library is not there

maybe 1/8 of my library appears
i go and sync again and it finishes and does not have all my checked choices

On the summary tab, uncheck "manually manage"
On the music tab, check "sync music" and choose "all songs and playlists"
If, like me, you buy the video from itunes and use that for the song -
...(it doesn't play video if the screen is off)...
- then check "include videos" also
Now sync. It should place all checkmarked songs on the phone.
If you don't have enough space for all songs plus photos / tv shows / movies etc it asks about deleting songs / photos to make space. I answered yes, and have learned that when it chooses which songs are deleted it keeps songs that are in a playlist and dumps songs that are just in the main population. I think it also dumps lower-rated songs before dropping higher-rated songs - but I'm not sure.
One final note. It will also keep a buffer of free space for normal operation. If you fill it up to zero space free, it will have problems just like if you fill up your desktop machine's drive.

IPod Nano is doing my head in - Unable to sync music, but can sync pictures

Have new Ipod Nano (4th gen) (as well as very old Ipod shuffle). ITunes recognises both devices, but when syncing music on new Ipod Nano, ITunes goes through the motions and shows it as sync'd on the device in ITunes, but when ejected/disconnected, IPOD Nano says "no music/songs". However we have been able to sync pictures from "my pictures" in windows and view them on the Nano. Anyone have any ideas?

check your sync settings in iTunes. click on your phone in the devices list on the left side of iTunes, and then go to the Music tab. is syncing enabled? for whatever reason, it might have gotten shut off.

Ringtones are currently a one-time only download. Have you not got a copy of them on your computer and/or on a backup ? Playlists aren't showing under the music tab on my ipod when using Itunes.

So I bought a new Ipod Nano the other day and I wanted to create folders and playlists manually so I can organise things to the way I like them.
But every time I click 'new playlist/folder' it appears under the device tab instead of the music tab like it had done before.
I have my settings set to manual and I don't want to sync things over because when I do that, it wont let me organise playlists or folders.
So can someone tell me how I can fix this and what I am doing wron?. Or if this is just an annoying new feature of the new itunes?

I have this problem too. When i remove all my music, I am able to click on the music tab without a problem. This leads me to believe that iTunes isn't able to handle all my music? My laptop is fairly new, with an i7 processor and 8gb ram, so the computer is definitely not the problem. Any ideas? Were you able to fix it yet?

I have an iPod Touch on IOS 5.1.1 - I uploaded its music library to my new laptop, using Tunejack. However, I now cannot download music from my laptop to the iPod (but can download to my iPad2 and iPhone 4S). I have gone under 'music' tab. Any ideas?

I have got an iPod Touch on IOS 5.1.1, which contained my music library, including uploaded CDs and purchases. I have a new laptop (using Windows 7) and upIoaded my music library from the iPod, using Tunejack, onto the laptop. I then made a few purchases but these weren't showing up on my iPod, so in frustration, thinking this would rectify the problem, I then re-booted the iPod, with the result that my entire music library disappeared from it. I then went to sync with my lap top and went in under the 'Music' tab and clicked on download 'entire music library' but nothing happens. I have also tried 'selected playlists, artists, albums and genres' but this has not worked as well. The same issue dows not apply with eitehr my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4S. As mentioned, this music library did come from my iPod so there is no space issue. If anyone has any suggestions i would be grateful.

Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

I sync my iPad. Now everything is messed up playlists and music are gone. Weird stuff showed up. And now I can't find the option to delete or make new playlists. 6.1.2 is my newest version!! NEED HELP!!

So I don't sync my iPad very often. My dad and I share a computer. And I decided to do it the other day. I am pretty sure I did it all correctly selecting music that I wanted not deleting playlists but it seems to be that they are gone. And music I didn't want has appeared. And now I don't have an option (with this new iOS 6.1.2) to make new playlists or edit music I don't want out.
I know I need help figuring those two things out 1 how to make a play list. There isn't a "add" button anymore in that screen I have a "you have no playlist"with a button underneath that says "go to iTunes Store" why I would need the store for that, I do not know.
Then in the songs, artists, albums sections where you used to be able to hit "edit" button to delete the music you have that you don't want. I don't seem to be able to do anything at all to get rid of the random music I have.

Is there a "New" button at the top right of the Playlists section of Music?
There is no Edit button to delete music, swipe sideways on the song to reveal the delete button. Tap and hold on the artwork in Artists and albums to reveal the (X) button to delete. Or connect the iPad back up to iTunes on the computer and check your sync settings for music to ensure you are syncing the right content.

You have two separate questions here...
To get all your music into one playlist, select Music in the sidebar and click the Songs view at the top. Then, highlight all the songs and drag them into your playlist.
I don't know if it's possible to download all Purchased content (or do you mean iTunes Match content?) at once; try a few Google searches.
