New Podcast Episode Not Updating in iTunes

Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
My Feedburner URL is:
feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
Thank you in advance!
Best wishes,
Sara Simms

Your second episode has a media file referenced at http://sarasimms.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/flight_episode_two
This works when the URL is entered in a browser, but at the URL has no extension (.mp3) iTunes does not see it as being a media file and thus does not display the episode. You need to give a full URL including the extension, as you have done for your first episode.
You are mixing episodes with and without media files - there are a lot of earlier episodes which don't have media files - these won't show in iTunes. If blogger limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, these will count towards that limit which could result in episodes not showing in iTunes once you have added enough episodes to trigger the limit.

  • New Podcast Episodes Not Updating if Not Subscribed

    Hey there,
My podcast hasn't updated the latest two weekly podcast episodes if you haven't subscribed. If you have subscribed, the episodes are available for download. XML uploaded yesterday.
Here is my xml feed: https://s3.amazonaws.com/GraceHB_Downloads/Audio/Poderator.xml
Here is the iTunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-lutheran-church-hb/id470693381
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Lee

The 'title' tag for your 2 September episode reads
    <title>&#xC;Love Thy Neighbor</title>
The ode at the start isn't upsetting the iTunes application but it's upsetting FireFox when used as a feed reader and is flagged as an error by FeedValidator, so it's extremely likely that it's upsetting the Store and rendering the feed unreadable. You need to remove it.
The code appears to be for a linebreak and is, I read elsewhere, permissible in XML 1.1 but not 1.0 which is what you have specified: in any event, you don't want a linebreak and getting rid of it altogether will probably solve your problem.

  • Podcast episodes not updating correctly in iTunes

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my podcast episodes not updating correctly in iTunes.  The last 5 episodes I published appeared in iTunes at the bottom of the episode list, as if they were old episodes--i.e., they appear as if they were the first 5 episodes published.  They also do not have a date assigned to them as the rest of the episodes do.  They were not distributed to podcast subscribers, possibly because iTunes is not recognizing them as new episodes.
Here is my podcast feed: http://ic.instantcustomer.com/instantcasts/feed/podcast/5047174b90f14efe542431c2 674b1bd9
And here is the link to my podcast in iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/small-business-marketing-minute/id896451432
The problem began with last Wednesday's episode, which was Episode 30, and has continued ever since.  I did not do anything differently when I published that episode than I did when I published the previous 29 episodes, and those updated just fine, or at least seemed to as far as I could tell (i.e., they appeared correctly on iTunes, and appeared as a new episode for me as a podcast subscriber).  Also, after examining the rss feed, I could not see any difference between episodes 1-29 and episodes 30--34, at least as far as the way the feed was formatted.  So, I have no idea what triggered the problem, and no idea how to fix it.  If I can't resolve the issue then I think I'll have to abandon the podcast, since there's no point in publishing a podcast that doesn't distribute new episodes to subscribers.
If anyone can shed light on this problem for me, it would be most appreciated.     Thanks!
    -Kevin

As you say, in the Store the latest episodes don't show a publishing date. When subscribing in iTunes, none of the episodes show a publishing date, and they are listed in the order they appear in the feed.
In the feed, none of your episodes has a 'pubDate' tag, which is where iTunes gets the date from. Since most of the episodes in the Store have a date, it looks as if originally your episodes had this tag, but that five episodes back you did something in whatever method you are using to create your feed which removed these tags: the Store is presumably getting the dates from its cache since the episodes haven't changed, but obviously doesn't have the dates for the last 5 episodes.

  • Podcast does not update on iTunes

Podcast does not update on iTunes
    the url
    http://itunes.apple.com/tw/podcast/id335308817
    the last date is 2010/6/17
    But the feed url
    http://iphone.realma.com/podcast/ettv.xml
the last date is 2010/10/21 and daily update
Why? Is there any thing wrong in the feed url?
    Thank you!

I'm afraid I can't make any sense of this. the iTunes Store page lists 301 episodes from 12 January 2010 to 17 June 2010. If you click on the 'subscribe free' button your iTunes application subscribes to the feed at the URL you give, which contains rather fewer episodes from 17 September 2010 to 22 October 2010 (today).
It's not unknown for something in the feed to be OK with the application but not the Store, but the feed validates in FeedValidator and I can't see anything wrong with it - it's almost impossible to read as it's all on one line, but it doesn't seem to contain any of the usual culprits.
The only explanation which would make any sense (and which doesn't seem to be the case) would be if the feed had been complete only to 17 June until a few days ago, and you only recently replaced it with the current set of episodes: it normally takes 1-2 days for changes to appear (so even under normal circumstances today's episodes wouldn't appear yet in the Store, only on subscribing). Since your feed contains episodes back to September this doesn't seem to apply, but I can't see any other reason.

  • Some items for podcast feed not updating on itunes

    Hey guys,
Here is my podcast feed at podbean and itunes
    http://theflyslip.podbean.com/feed/
    http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/theflyslip/id509869184
1)And here are my questions. I've updated my channel title as 'Armchair Critics' but its not updated on itunes or when I check it from my iphone 4s
2)When I'm on my iphone and search for my podcast and go to the page it allows me to download individual podcasts it shows the titles of the podcast correctly
eg Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2 - blah blah blah
While Downloading the first time on my iphone it shows like this, but as soon as I DL the 2nd one the title goes to being
1 - the text after Ep 4x2, why is it dropping the Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2? I want it to show like that after downloading and viewing on my music app also(formerly iPod i think didnt have an iphone before the 4s)
3)When viewing the source of my feed I notice that for my first posts the title tags are showing as
    <title>Armchair Critics - Ep1&#215;1 - Dilshan and Captaincy</title>
    it should be something like
    <title>Armchair Critics - Ep4×2 - Thirimanne and Indians</title>
with 4x2, is this some sort of syntax issue, and why does it work for the latest ones and not the old ones?
4)I recently updated my image, its still not updated on itunes or when I check from my iphone, is it cuz the feed needs time to update on itunes?
5)And in general, when I make a change to the feed, how long does it take for itunes to pick up the change.
5a)Does the change happen on itunes automatically?
5b)Do I manually need to update anything? IF so how and where?
6)Also, it I wanna add more itunes tags in future like for changing date/duration etc..how do and where do I do it?

Thanks alot for your reply Roger.
I will reply with comments to my questions based on your reply
    1) The title has sorted it self now on the store but not the image, looks like it has gone to some sort of default podcast image. Is it still updating? I've subscribed on a PC, what does subscribing do exactly ? I thought it would start downloading the podcasts, but nothing happened and I had to manually DL them. Again no image...
    2) The text getting cut off before the x,  eg 4x2 blah blah becoming 2 blah blah on iphone.
Some background - I added the feed to itunes last  week. Did not look at it until yesterday. And all my titles for the podcast had the 2x1 , 2x2 in them from the start - from when I created the episodes in podbean. I only started updating yesterday (again on podbean) cuz it was not showing up ok on the iPhone. SO should it not have worked from the start ? Or am I missing somehting?
Do you think the html code for multiplication is causing it to cut off the text before the x ?
    4) As stated above the image is still not visible to me on itunes after subscribing on a PC. What image do you see by the way ? It should be this?
    http://www.uh.edu/uhdistance/frieden/image12.gif
5 & 6) How do you re-upload the feed ? Since I made the update to the image, do I need to re-upload it to make it work? Is that why its not showing up still ?
Again thanks for the help. Definitely helpful mate.

  • Another Podcast will not update in itunes

I am able to see and download my latest podcast if I use the "show all available episodes" function but it is not seen when the Refresh button or Update Podcast functions are used. All current episodes do appear on the itunes preview page however.
I use Libsyn as an RSS host and they claim this is an itunes 'problem' but it does not seem to effect the other casters that I follow. It could well be a 'finger' problem on my part so if there is anyone with more than my rudimentary knowledge of RSS/XML perhaps you could take a look?
My feed address is http://djdavidmyles.libsyn.com/rss and my itunes is http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/david-myles-podcast/id389699126
I have checked the feed in Feed Validator and I'm getting 2 unknown namespace messages in line one but I do not know if this would is significant with regards to the update issue??
I not that the ping address I was given recently only connects to the itunes store now, though it never seemed to help with previous episodes anyway!
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for looking in to this for me.
The more I consider this the more I am beginning to wander if it is something to do with my itunes and specifically on my Macbook Pro. Since the last 2 itunes updates there have been problems with transferring some mp3's between itunes and my iphone.
I have just checked the 'update' question on my PC and it works ok but with the same setting on my mac the problem still exists whereby as a subscriber I am not notified when a new podcast is available via the auto or manual Refresh actions, only if I right click the the podcast and use the "Show All..." facility. Both mac and pc are using itunes 10.1.2.
lets hope all my fans are using PC's...something I never thought I would advocate!

  • Podcast Will Not Update in iTunes

I have a podcast that was working and updating perfectly up until the 5th episode. The feed is working properly: (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fppadv.com%2Fnewsletters% 2Fpodcast%2Fpodcast.xml)
and I am able to download all the episodes onto my computer if I subscribe. Any ideas on how I can update the podcast listing in itunes?
    Here's the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/potratz-think-tank-tuesday/id275218965
    feed:
    http://ppadv.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
    Thanks

Yes, there is a feed at that address: but it's not the address registered with iTunes. You need to place the feed at that URL:
    http://exclusivelyautomotive.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
If you can do that you can place the redirection tag in that feed to redirect iTunes to the new URTL, as detailed here. If you no longer have access to that URL you are, to use the technical term, stuffed.
In that event you have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • New podcast page not appearing in iTunes Music Store yet

Our latest addition to the WhiskyCast podcast series, WhiskyCast Virtual Tastings, was added to the iTunes Music Store last weekend. However, it's still not showing up in search results unless one types in the complete name of the show, and then only shows up as a single episode -- not with a page of its own like our other podcasts. I know it takes a day or two for new podcasts to show up in the search results, but without the page, there's no "Report a Concern" link for me to check with the iTMS team on whether there's an issue or not. Should I wait a few more days to see if the problem straightens itself out, or is there someone within Apple that I can reach out to to see whether there's a problem with my feed that's keeping the page from showing up.
Here's a link to the debut episode in iTMS and what iTunes displays:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/whiskycast-virtual-tastings/id460281190
    Thanks!
    Mark Gillespie

The link you give is to the Store page for your podcast - this is what the Search results will link to once they become available. Your page does have the 'Report A Concern' link but I shouldn't bother (iin any case it's really meant for people to complain about content or whatever).
It can take some days for the Search results to show; it's been eight, so it should happen any time now. If you want to contact Support (though I don't think you will find them at all helpful), go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • NEW PODCAST EPISODES NOT LOADING ON MY MACBOOK

For the past week, for some reason new podcast (all ten subscriptions) are not loading new episodes.  These are thing like TWIT and TED podcasts, I don't even see them on the "All episodes" tab.  I'm on Macbook Air, Mountain Lion, and iTunes 11.01
    Is this a setting problem?

I have tried these "fixes" numerous times and they never work. :( Thanks for trying.

  • Our RSS Feeds for our Podcasts have not updated in iTunes since October

We have three Podcasts established with iTunes. All three stopped showing updates on the iTunes website at the end of October in spite of the fact that we update them weekly. I have run them through a feed validator and everything appears to be fine.

    http://www.kcdzfm.com/localmusic.xml
    http://www.kcdzfm.com/benvaughn.xml

There is no obvious reason why this should be happening. The November episodes show OK when subscibing and the feeds look OK. Sometimes the Store does seem to get stuck and not update for some time, and I'm afraid that that may be what has happened here. It usually sorts itself out eventually, but it's very frustrating.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to try to do something about it, but to be honest I rather doubt you'll get a helpful answer.

Please when you have a question post the URL of the feed, not its contents. For the record, your feed is at
    http://www.mycarnatic.org/MyCarnaticRSSFeed.xml
There are seven episodes in your feed, seven in the iTunes Store and seven when subscribing; so everything is working normally.
The FeedValidator reportthrows up some minor errors which you might want to look at, though none of them seems to be upsetting iTunes/
In line 2 it should be <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0"> (not 'DTD')
The 'itunes:category' tag should be in the top section of the feed, not in the items.
    Line 54 - August 8th was not a Saturday.
A 'guid' tag in each 'item' is advised but not essential (it would be a unique identifier, usually the episode URL).
Line 37 - you can ignore this, I don't know what it's complaining about.
The other errors are unimportant: and as I say none of them is actually causing a problem.

  • Individual podcast episodes not appearing in iTunes but they're available to subscribers

Is there a way to resolve this problem? Just uploaded the second episode of my podcast. The podcast has an iTunes page and subscribers can download, but the individual episodes don't appear on the podcast's main page.
This is the rss link: http://spoilerpiece.libsyn.com/rss
And this is the link to the podcast in iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/spoilerpiece-theatre/id900473184?mt=2
I'm new to podcasting, so I've been reluctant to alter the feed on my own.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Dave

Your feed has two episodes. The latest was released only today, so it's too soon to expect to see it in the Store. The Store should be showing the first episode but though it says '1 item' it's not showing it.
You've fallen over a long-standing and intermittent bug in the Store where it claims to be showing the correct number of items but in fact either isn't showing any or isn't showing all of them, although all the episodes appear when subscribing. There isn't really anything you can do about this yourself as the problem lies with the Store, not your feed. It usually sorts itself out in a few days, but it's worth emaling Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to re-index your podcast as this may speed things up

  • Podcast Episodes Not Updating in Display

I have a podcast for my company. I have done two previously, last year. I just added two more and despite pinging the server repeatedly, it doesn't show in the display when you come to our podcast page. If I hit "Subscribe" All four episodes will show and it will begin downloading the new ones, but it still doesn't appear in the store window. Do I just have to wait or is there some way to speed things up?
    Thanks!

It came up sometime today, so I guess waiting was the answer.

  • Podcasts do not update in iTunes 11.2, podcasts do not update in iTunes 11.2

Since November 18th none of my subscribed podcasts update either manually or automatically.  Using Itunes 11.1.3.  Anyone else experiencing this?

    Hello clmayne,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
    From the *User Guide*:
Delete a podcast: In the Podcasts list in Music, swipe left or right over the podcast, then tap Delete.
So if you can still access these via the iPod Touch, go ahead and delete them directly from it.
