It may not be the same molded plug but I would think any normal 3-prong computer power cable should work.
    How about this one?
922-6529 Power Cord - Apple Cinema Display
I've always had the theory that if you put two computer power cords in a drawer they will breed and you'll end up with a lot more!   My parts drawer is always full of them.  They like to knot up by themselves as well!  Maybe that's how they breed.

  • Where do I find the power adapter for my Cinema Display?

I have recently aquired an older style of an Apple Cinema display. It didn't come with a power adapter, just the DVI cable coming out the back. I have done some research and understand that power and usb and video signal come through this one cable, but I have also come to know there is supposed to be a converter power box type thing between the display and the monitor. I can find boxes similar to the one I believe I need on Ebay and other sites, but not the exact one. They vary in style somewhat. Wondering if someone could steer me in the direction of where to get one and help me understand more of what I need and how it all works? The model/serial number on the monitor is CY3041XSLFA, it's a 23" Cinema HD Display, made in 2002. - Thanks -

  • Single power brick for multiple Cinema displays?

I've got a client with 2 30" displays and 2 23" displays (yea, and he's wanting to add more). The big issue I'm running into is that I don't want to have 6 power bricks under his desk, due to electrical draw for the conversion to DC power. Is there anything out there which would power multiple displays?

There's no reason that one big brick would use any less power than six small bricks running the same displays.

  • New Specs for Apple Cinema Displays ???

The Online Apple Store and the Apple dealers here in Germany either don't seem to be aware of the new specs or they have a lot of the "older" displays (Brightnes: 270 cd/m2 Contrast: 400:1) left in stock which they want or need "to get rid of".
I'm thinking of ordering either a 23" or a 30" for my MacPro, but the new spec cinema displays are not yet available here.

  • Need new power adapter for Qosmio F50

    Hello
I am in need of buying new power adapter for my Qosmio F50 126. The reason being if I try to run more demanding application on my computer, the entire computer just crashes, shuts down. I need to buy a new adapter before my entire computers crashes result in destroying my HDD. I am not sure if my battery are died or the power adapter fails to charge them up.
The picture of underside of my power adapter is shown below.

What I would like to know if the following two adapters are the same and would work with my model. I ask this because the price difference between the two units is significant., 20 USD. Also, I will be importing it from the USA using an agent here. Therefore I need to get it right on the first try.
I'm curious about the connecter it has on the end. I wonder if its same as the one which came with the notebook. I believe it wont be an issue with it clearly says it supports my model, Qosmio F50 126
Another find which I believe is the best and most compatiable.
This one will sure work but the price is much higher than the one mentioned above

    Hi
You need an AC adaptor which supports *19V and 6.32A*
The Ampere value might be a little bit different. This should not be a big problem but you have to ensure the Ampere value isnt too low. The notebook needs enough power to run properly and to charge the battery.
However, the Volt value (19V) cannot be different. _It has to be *19V_*
The original AC adaptor has the part number: *PA3290E-3AC3*
I recommend you to purchase the AC adaptor recommended by Toshiba.

  • DVI Adapter for LED Cinema Display Mini DisplayPort?

Is there an adapter for use with the new LED Cinema display port? I expect the new Mini's to switch to the Mini DisplayPort, if there is a new Mini, but in the meantime ...
Now that everything is going black, glass and aluminum, when is Apple going to update:
    1) Keyboards to black keys?
    2) Mouse to black and/or aluminum?
    3) Mini, AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule to black & aluminum?
    4) Power Adapters, Airport Express, cables, etc. to black and/or aluminum?
    Finally a unified product line/look!

Actually after thinking about it, the immediate solution is likely a short DVI extension cord combined with the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. I would prefer a small Apple adapter to ship with the display however, much in the same way as the DB-15 adapter shipped with the VGA version of the old LCD Studio Display, or at least make one for sale. Guess Apple is leaving this up to third parties as usual.
The Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter would not work in this case as it is a male (Mini DisplayPort) to female (DVI) adapter. The new 24" Cinema Display has a non-removable cable ending in a male (Mini DisplayPort). As a male plug will not connect to a male plug it will not work.
I am sure soon enough various third-parties like Gefen, Griffin, and Belkin will come up with suitable adapters which do have the right genders. It is somewhat disappointing Apple have not done this themselves as I am sure plenty of Mac Pro owners are also salivating over this new display.
Arguably, Apple are repeating the same mistake they made with the ACD (Apple Cinema Display) connector and making it much harder and more expensive to use their displays with non Apple computers. That is they should have stuck with a standard DisplayPort connector rather than the esoteric Mini DisplayPort.
I equally hope someone comes up with Mini DisplayPort to (big) DisplayPort adapters as well.
On a totally different topic, I was also surprised and disappointed Apple did not switch to 16:9 displays for these new products (they are all still 16:10). The rest of the industry has already started switching to 16:9 displays and the clear trend is that 16:10 is on its way out. Still, the black border of these Apple displays does very conveniently hide the blank pixels (when playing a 16:9 video).

  • New Mac Pro and LED cinema display

Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching for it but none of the topics answered my question specifically enough.
I have a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display purchased less than a year ago. Will it connect to a new Mac Pro and what happens to the power cable that's attached to the LED display?

I have a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display purchased less than a year ago. Will it connect to a new Mac Pro
Yes. All the standard cards that come in the Mac Pro have one Mini DisplayPort. The 24"LED display will plug into that.
and what happens to the power cable that's attached to the LED display?
It is not used if you don't have a MacBook.

  • Power on a 23inch Cinema Display

Hi, My display was working fine this morning. When I went to turn it on later, the power light wouldn't come on when I pressed the power button. I took the monitor to apple this evening and the monitor worked fine. When I got home it went back to no power light. I made my 2nd monitor the main monitor and it still register's the cinema display as working, but I can't get the power light to turn on. Does anyone know what this is about. I don't understand how the power doesn't turn on, but the computer is still seeing the display? And any tips on getting the monitor to always power on when the computer starts up? Maybe that will fix this.

I have 2 23" HD displays - only 1 is detected, but its stranger than that!
    My Video Card:
    Chipset Model: GeForce 6800 GT
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: SLOT-1
    VRAM (Total): 256 MB
    Vendor: nVIDIA (0x10de)
    Device ID: 0x0045
    Revision ID: 0x00a1
    ROM Revision: 2120
    Displays:
my problem is that the second monitor is never detected. after some fiddling around, it looks like the DVI-D is probed each time a cable is disconnected, and the funny thing is, if i disconnect my working 23" from primary and insert my new 23" display to it, it works for about 5 seconds, until the video card seems to redetect the monitor; which actually this monitor isnt detected and the display goes blank...
    even wierder:
i have a PC and i can boot windows up with my working 23". after the OS is booted i can unplug the good display and plug in the "non-detected" 23" and it works, at least until the monitor is probed again...
most unusual indeed.. apple doesnt know what to do.. its not the brick. im lucky to have 2 monitors of exactly the same specification and swapped the power supplies around.
not sure even where to start.. im sure apple would scratch thier heads.. funny how this happened AFTER the warranty ran out

  • If plugged into the power supply, should the Cinema Display A1081 standby light come on without being plugged into a mac

I was given an old Cinema Display A1081 a few years ago. I am trying to test it and want to know if plugged into the power supply, should the standby light come on without being plugged into a mac?  I don't want to buy a DVI to mini display adapter if it isn't working.  One thing I did do was plug Monitor power in and then the USB plulg into my PC laptop and my iPhone charger USB plug into the back of the monitor.  I am able to charge my iPhone this way so I know that the power supply is working. But I can't tell if the monitor itself is workign as no ligths are on. (PS:  I am purchasing my first Mac so I am a complete newb but very proficient with PCs) Thanks so much for your help.

Just a final question about Sleep mode - does this have any negative effects on the life or performance of the laptop? I'm so used to Shutting down the laptop each day that I worry about Sleep mode having some sort of drain on the components or something.
There are only two practical differences between Sleep and Shut Down:
    1. Sleep will wake instantly, so you don't have to wait for startup.
    2. Sleep will drain a new, fully charged battery after several days without being woken or plugged in. If you shut down, the battery charge lasts much longer. Obviously, if you only sleep it overnight, you'll still have plenty of battery left in the morning.
Don't sleep it more frequently than necessary, though. Frequently turning the backlight and hard drive off and on can shorten their life. Just do what's reasonable. I usually leave mine awake until I have to transport it in a bag, along with sleeping it overnight. On battery, I'll sleep it more often to preserve battery.
