New power supply for Neo Platinum...

My first few attempts at overclocking didn't go very well but i'm thinking of trying again and figure i should get a new power supply first.
Currently i have a Vantec Stealth 420W with the following specs:
+3.3 - 26A
+5 - 42A
+12 - 18A
I plan on trying out the OCZ PowerStream 520W
+3.3 - 28A
+5 - 40A
+12 - 33A
 Quote
The 520ADJ boasts eight primary 4-wire Molex power connectors, another two 4-wire floppy connectors, two SATA leads, and an auxiliary connector, all of which sit on generously long lines. The 12V string sports both 4-pin and 8-pin connectors. Two of the Molex leads feature black connectors, black shielding sheaths, and capacitors and resistors behind the connectors. These are meant primarily for power-hungry video cards such as NVIDIA's 6800, and because the leads sit on dedicated circuits with no other connectors, you simply couldn't ask for cleaner power flow.
OCZ provides dials for fine-tuning each of the three power rails and places an LED indicator below each dial. A green light indicates that voltage is within 5% of optimal, yellow notes undervoltage, and red overvoltage.
Anyone using this one?  I don't want to have to buy another powersupply for a while, so if it's a bit overkill for now, so be it.  It can't be "too much", can it? any thoughts folks?
Thanks in advance!

Im using the same powersupply.  Very nice unit, you will not be dissappointed.  I dont forsee you needing to buy another after it either.  It is rated at 520W usable, peak is actually 600+.
One thing I should note, adjusting the 3.3V rail is tricky...it doesnt take much to trip the redlight indicator...so go slow and you should be able to crank it up a bit.  12V and 5V arent as touchy.
Im running the following in my computer with no problems:
2 120MM fans, 1 80MM high speed fan, 3 HD's, 1 CD burner currently, radeon 9800 pro, audigy 2 ZS soundcard, 80mm slot blower fan, floppy drive, A64 3200 OC to 2.375Ghz, 2 Kingmax Hardcore 512MB sticks of ram....I think that covers it anyways.  No problems so far!
There is no such thing as too much (as long as its quality too much) in a power supply.

  • Which power supply for k8n neo2 Platinum

I need to buy a new power supply for my computer. With the ATX12V v2.2 standard and ATX12V 2.01 and the "no -5v on new psu's" issue I'm at a loss as to what to look for. I have looked and cannot find what "standard" (is that even the correct term?) the k8n neo2 supports.
My main requirement is that the psu be 550-650 watts and have modular cables. I know someday I will have to upgrade my system to PCI-E and modern components, so I would like a PSU that would work now and in the future.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
    Many thanks
    system spec's
    Motherboard- MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 4800 939 socket
    Memory-CORSAIR 2X1G Twinx2048
Video- ATI HIS 4670 1GB AGP
HD- Seagate 100 gb 7200 rpm
    Drives CD-DVD and CD-RW
PSU- Ultra X Connect 500W ATX
    Sound- Creative SB Audigy2 Gamer
OS- WinXP Home SP3 32 bit

Why do you need 550-650W or is that just because of future needs? I would suggest one of the Corsair +12V single rail modular PSU's if you insist on the modular design. Check newegg for what they have for modular in the Corsair lineup. I'm sure you're aware that their price is considerably higher than the non-modular. K8 MB's that needed -5V are the early ones that had Creative Sound Blaster onboard audio.
     HX650
        *  Was: $139.99
        * $109.99
        * After $10.00 Rebate
        * $10.18 Shipping
That's what it is now but if you don't need it in a big hurry you can probably wait a while and get for the same price but with free shipping.
Edit: Gee, Ultra with blown caps, I just happen to have a xPRO 800W that blew some caps, repaired it and started going bad again and then got my TX650 to replace it. Got it for $70 after rebate (which I haven't received yet) by waiting for the right price, rebate and free shipping. VX550 would have been good enough but at the time I got the TX650 at a lower price.

  • New Antec power supply for p7-1003w doesn't fit?!

I got a new power supply for my p7-1003w tower only to discover it would not fit. It was getting caught somehow so I looked and noticed it was not the supply itself but the black plastic bezel piece around the AC connection hole.
Has anyone else faced this? The original power supply doesn't have a bezel, but all the Antec supplys I see do.
If you've had this problem of the bezel beign too big what did you do bend your back plate? lol or is their a certian brand of supplys that don't have the big bezel around the connector hole.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Can you better describe the issue? See the below image:
I saw a posting like yours here on the forum some time ago but I can't say if an Antec PSU was being used.  I typically recommend Corsair PSUs under 650 watts for the HP mid-tower chassis.
Which model Antec did you buy?

  • New power supply adapter for MD-100

Is there any place where I can get a new power supply adapter (or a new power supply) for my Nokia MD-100 speaker? I have a UK adapter now, which was inlcuded, but I want one for swedish sockets instead. I have an "external" adapter now, but I hoping I can get a proper adapter which fits the power supply.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Joakim.

    Hi Joakim,
Do you have the original UK charger for the Nokia PowerUp? If it's the one with the removable pins would you sell me the UK pins? And perhaps someone else has the Swedish clip, I've got a spare USA one.
    Cheers

  • Power Supply for Airport Extreme

    Hi
Does anyone know where I can get a new power supply for my airport extreme in the UK? Mine has died, and I don't really want to buy a whole new base station just because of the external supply. (I know the actual unit is working through plugging in a power supply from my other base station)
I tried Apple, who weren't really any help.
    Thanks in advance!
    Tom.

    Tom welcome to the discussions.
I would probably call the Apple number.
    1-800-MY APPLE
I am sure that they can point you in the right direction.
I am a little shocked that one of the Apple Retail stores can't offer you a Power Supply.
If all else fails, it sounds like you have tried an alternitve, if it works use it, until you can get a replacment.

  • New Power supply, where?

    Hello,
wher can I purchase a new Power supply for my 2002 Quicksilver G4?
    Possibly in Europe...
    Thanks

Do you mean "new" or a replacement? New might be next to impossible, or if you find one it may cost more than a new used computer.
    As suggested, ebay. Might check

    Hi,
I bought my Satelite A350-20Q 2 1/2 yeras ago, and when I turned on my laptop the screen was dim, the power supply was already plugged in but it did not make any change. How can order a replacement?
    Thanks

According notebook specification AC power supply for your notebook has part number PA3290E-3AC3. I dont know where do you live but Googling around and using this part number as search term you will, I hope, find enough online stores where you can order new AC adapter.
You can also contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask them to order it for you.

  • I need help to replace my power supply for the hp pavilion elite m9510f

This computer has given me many problems since I bought it in '09. From graphic card fan issues, a hard drive crash, and now the power supply has failed.
I did the blow dryer trick but it still ends up breaking a week later. I want to know what new power supply should I buy. One that will be able to fit in the hp pavilion elite m9510f and is an upgrade to the 350w that it has. Maybe somthing under 60-70 dollars if possible. Thanks for any help.

It appears to be a normal case and motherboard.  A normal ATX supply should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=50001333&IsNodeId=1&Description=Computer...
Just an example of what is availble, but most any should work as long the physical dimensions match the one installed now.

  • Problem with NEW H520 when installed new power supply & graphic card. Please help!

My H520 was working perfectly and was running FAST..especially when rebooting. ( It was AWESOME!  )Then I installed a new power supply (Coolmax 400w) and a new graphic card (Sapphire Radeon HD6450) and then everything changed.  Now my computer is booting very SLOWLY and all the programs are taking a long time to load too.  I was getting a black screen for almost a full 2 minutes before the windows 8.0 screen would finally load up and then it hangs there for a few seconds and finally goes to the start screen in windows.  But BEFORE I installed this new hardware, when I would reboot, I would see the Lenovo splash screen come up for a few short seconds and then it instantly went to the windows welcome screen.  And even then I would barely have enough time to see the welcome screen before it instantly loaded into the windows start screen.  Everything would load up fast on the desktop too and we'd be good to go. It all took about 30 SECONDS.
But now? It takes MINUTES to get everything going.   After it FINALLY loads up (it takes almost 2 full minutes now!), everything hangs up.  When you first click on the desktop, it takes a few seconds for all of the icons to pop up.  Before I loaded the new hardware, everything loaded up instantly.  I didn't even see the icons load because they were already there.  But now I have to wait for them to load up before I can even see them.  And it's like that with every program and web browser I try to use now.  Everything hangs up at first and then finally loads.  The programs work but they are sluggish.
So I uninstalled the new power supply and put back in the original 280w power supply and I took out the graphic card but it did no change.  The machine is STILL running slow on everything it does and booting very slowly.
I have seen this problem mentioned elsewhere about Lenovo computers but there is never a solution.  Please help!  It took me a long time to save up for this computer and I have been babying it ever since.  I will never be able to afford a new one or pay for tech repair.  I need to fix this!    I was so thrilled with this computer before the hardware upgrade. This is devastating to me that it is working so poorly now when all I was trying to do was upgrade it a little bit.     Now it's performing horribly and it's only 6 months old.
I ran a four hour test on the hard drive and it is fine.  I ran all the system clean ups, optimizations, registry cleanups, windows disk cleaner, defragger and virus scans. Nothing is showing up as not working but there is CLEARLY a problem.  It was never this slow.   And why is it STILL acting this slow even after I uninstalled all of the new hardware that made it start acting this way and went back to the original setup?
I'm trying to run a memory test on it now but the BIOS will NOT allow me to select another drive to boot from so I can't boot from the flash drive or CD drive to run the memory test.  I have NO IDEA what to do next and I am starting to pull my hair out in frustration.
Please, is there anything that can be done to make it better again?
Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Jennifer

I totally give up!!  I restored everything to the ORIGINAL state with drivers AND hardware and STILL everything is not working properly like it was BEFORE the upgrade.
So this has been the WORST experience with Tech support EVER!!  I have spent DAYS on the phone for HOURS with these technicians and nobody seems to know what they are doing.  They put me on hold every 10 minutes and are gone for 10 to 15 minutes and when they come back, they seem all set on a new solution but when you ask them questions about it, they have NO CLUE how to answer and then they put you on hold again.  Nothing gets solved and after HOURS on the phone, I just tell them to stop because we are getting no where but running around in circles that make no sense.    THIS A NIGHTMARE!!
So I totally gave up on being able to upgrade this machine.  To any future buyers, I STRONGLY recommend you do all upgrading BEFORE you get it home for the first time.  Make sure you have your power supply and graphic card INCLUDED before you bring it home or you're mostly likely going to have a NIGHTMARE upgrading it later.    Technical support is a HORROR STORY and expect to be WAITING for LOOOOONNNNG periods of time both ON THE PHONE and ONLINE and probably ending up with NO SOLUTION in the end.
I've VERY upset with how this turned out!!  I'm just gonna have to deal with the fact that my computer is permenantly messed up and NOBODY AT LENOVO knows how to fix it.    So I'm stuck.
I decided to send back the new power supply and the new graphic card because of this nightmare with tech support.  I put everything back to the way it was when I bought the computer and it is STILL acting up!!  I just want to revert it back to factory settings .. INCLUDING THE BIOS... but Lenovo said I have to send the WHOLE computer back to them to do that.  All I can do from home is restore from a point in the hard drive and that's not enough.  I need a TOTAL CLEAN INSTALL.  Everything needs to be wiped out and reset, not just restored to a previous restore point.  I've done this multiple times and all it does is erase all the programs and stuff I put on the computer.  The drivers and other codes are still the same.  And then bugs come up and things get all wonky.  I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I TRIED TO UPGRADE IT!!
I am NOT comfortable with Lenovo's "solution". I do NOT want to send my computer back to them for them to reset it with factory disks ESPECIALLY when they stated that they are NOT responsible for any damage in transport or otherwise. I have to buy extra packaging to make sure it gets there safely. They told me to use the original box and packaging, that is the only way they can be sure it will get there safe.  Who has the original stuffing SIX MONTHS LATER?!?! I don't want to be sending my computer across the country to get jostled all over the place and have that add to the slowness of the hardware because it was jostled.
Can't I reset it from home?  Can they not send ME the disks instead of me sending my whole computer to them?
I'm so incredibly frustrated with this.  I hope somebody answers quickly and that I don't have to wait DAYS to get a response again.
I absolutely LOVED my Lenovo computer!  And then I tried to upgrade it.  BIG MISTAKE!!  Now everything is totally messed up and Lenovo's customer support for technical problems is HORRID!!
Somebody please help.  This is driving me crazy with frustration and totally breaking my heart.  It took me a VERY long time to save up for this computer and it was my most loved possession.  It was a reward for a lot of hard times and now it's all broken and acting slow.  And it's only 6 months old.
Is there a solution to this very frustrating problem?
I just want it to go back to the way it was before.
And is there a very low cost KNOWN TO WORK WITH THIS MACHINE upgraded graphic card and power supply?  Is there a very specific brand and make?  If so, could you let me know what it is in case I try to upgrade it again someday?
Thank you for your time and for reading this!
Please have a FANTASTIC day today!!
    ~Jennifer~

  • DC5750 New Power Supply Problems

I have a DC5750 (mini case). Everything is working fine with it. It comes with a 300W power supply. I am in the process of purchasing a new video card for it but the video card requires at least a 500W power supply. I purchased a Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 550W PSU (http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?act=detail&id=5888).
When I plug in the new power supply and turn on the PC the fans start to spin and then stop and the front power LED goes red and i get 9 continuous beeps followed by a couple of seconds of silence and then the pattern repeats itself. I have checked the HP website documentation for the DC5750 and it says that when you get these beeps to make sure that the correct voltage is set on the back of the PSU. I have made sure of this, it is set to 115V. There was also a long paragraph about the kind of power cord that you should use and I did use the one that came with the PSU and also the one that I was using before hand, but no still dice.
I have unplugged everything except the power to the motherboard when testing it and still nothing. I have sure that the 4-pin connector that goes from the PSU to the mobbo is labeled P3 to match the label on the motherboard. I tried putting in the old power supply and everything works like a charm again.
I read somewhere on these forums last night something about the CPU fan sensor and how some people had to trick their systems into thinking the power supply was putting out the same voltage as the original one. They did this by connecting two pins together but there was something about the fact that the pain had to be rated at 100ohms or something. I couldn't quite understand the solution and since it wasn't my same PC model and it was an old post I decided not to try anything of that sort just yet.
Like i said, the PC was running fine before and it is still running ok right now with the old power supply, I would like to upgrade the PSU though with the new 550W one. After i put the old PSU in i went back into the BIOS to see if there was anything related to the power supply that would stop it from booting but I didnt see anything relevant.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    BD
Edit: I just tested the new PSU on a different system and it works just fine.
