New Printer for PBG4 1.33

I am looking for a new printer but I have heard that many have problems working with macs. The two most important aspects are photo printing quality and the ability to plug it into my airport express. Less important, but it would be nice, is a built in scanner. I would like a canon but I have heard that HP also work well and are good printers. Can anyone recommend a good model?

You might also want to check out Macworld or read reviews at Amazon or Newegg to see what works for people. I prefer Canon printers, and have used several of their ink jet models. One reason I like the Canon printers is that a number of them have individual color cartridges, so I replace just the color that's needed when empty. Some of the lower end Canon's and most of the HP's used a combined color cartridge with multiple colors in one cartridge (Black is usually separate). Canon's come with a good selection of mac utilities, too.

  • New printer for old computer

My HP laserjet printer model 4L broke yesterday. Need a new printer for an old computer. It's an HP Brio using windows 2000 (built on NT technology) - whatever that means. A plastic part broke on the printer cover that affected it's printing capability. Thanks for any input.

    Hi Gwen,
There is a way you can tell whether a new printer will be supported on your Windows 2000.
As an example, I have included the information for the HP Deskjet 3520 (not the ePrint version of the printer).
This is an inexpensive printer that one can still buy, and the printer supports the Full Feature Software (full driver set) for Windows 2000.
HP Deskjet 3520 Inkjet Printer Drivers - Windows 2000
    What You Can Do:
Find a printer that you want to buy
Open the Support and Drivers Page:  HP Drivers & Downloads
Enter the name of the printer in the box under "Find by Product"
Look for your Operating System in the drop down menu under "Select your operating system"
    Click "Next" and Scroll down
Look under "Driver - Product Installation Software"
You are looking for the "Full Feature Software" installation package.
The Full Feature Software package provides the full printing capabilities.
If you do Not find the Full Feature Software, then the printer you have selected will NOT be fully supported by your Operating System.  "Basic Driver" is not enough -- you need the Full Feature Software or your printer might not be able to do everything -- for example, it may not be able to "scan".
Go through this exercise until you find a Printer model that is supported for your Operating System AND provides the Full Feature Software.
You might also look under the Manuals section to pick up any details about the printer's operation - whether the printer supports wireless, and under what circumstances it works (or does not).
    Good Luck!
    Click the Kudos Star!
It is a great “Thank You” for the Author's efforts.

  • I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for two years. I got a new printer and installed it although I did not remove my old printer from my computer. I used this program and my new printer for quite a few months, but today I deleted my old printer

I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for along time now. When I first used the program I had a different printer than I have now. Although I changed printers I never removed the software from my old one. Now this was never a problem until today. When I choose a printer I still had option to use the old one but always chose my new HP Envy 5530 and Adobe never had a problem printing from that new printer. However today I decided to remove my old printer from my computer and now my Adobe cannot find my new printer.  How can I make it find the HP printer?

    Try this --
Go to the bottom of the link I gave you, and you will see
click that link and then click the chat button to talk to an Adobe agent

  • New printer for OS9 macbook?

    Hi
My dad still uses OS9, and is not minded to move to OSX: "It's taken me long enough to learn this to start changing now.". Between you and me, I'm quite happy to let the status quo persist (anything for a quiet life)... and to be fair, he can do most of what he needs quite happily on OS9.
But we hit an issue yesterday that I could use advice on: his old Epson printer has given up the ghost. Is it possible to buy a cheap inkjet that will work in OS9? He's using a G3 iBook.

    Steven,
Check each of the big three manufacturers sites (Epson, HP and Canon) in your country to find a suitable model. There aren't really that many "current" models from each manufacturer. Obviously, if you just need a printer, you should avoid the multifunctionals, it's hard enough to get some of these working in OSX.
One caveat, I scanned their sites looking for a new printer / scanner, to replace the still perfectly functioning HP DeskJet 970 and Epson Perfection 1200, just to get a bit more speed and features. I thoroughly checked each devices specifications - and found a handful (sorry can't remember which) that support OS9.1 and above, one even supported OS8.6 - looking for Ethernet, multiple ink tanks, TWAIN support, OSX 10.3 support, etc, etc. I ended up with a Canon multfunctional, but I'm afraid to say all the new printers scanners I looked at when I got to the store are pretty cheap and nasty compared to my 10 year old kit. Just make sure your dad is prepared for this.
Just one other issue, that may not affect you, for the savings in desk space with a top-of-the-range multifunctional, you pay extremely heavily on quality of printing and scanning. A $500 multifunctional equates to about a $50 printer and a $50 scanner.
Someone told me this about a year ago, now I found out for myself.

  • New printer for ipad

    I need to buy a wireless/
AirPrint printer for use with my ipad.  Do I need a PC to be able to set it up, as I no longer have one.

    Hi, Sandie.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I can not recommend a specific brand of printer.  However, here is the list of compatible AirPrint printers that will work with the iPad.  You can also view the manufacture's website for more information regarding setup and maintenance.

  • I operate with an iMac 10.4 and desperately need to upgrade to a 10.5 as bought new printer for my business and NEED 10.5. Where do I find a 10.5 download ASAP?

Am searching for a  10.5 Leopard download for my Mac OS X, version 10.4.11, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. As noted in the original question I cannot find or use a printer that needs less than 10.5.  My iMac computer has been very faithful and I started in a small elementary classroom with an Apple IIe in 1984. What solution does someone have for me?  Thank you....nebraskabetty

Leopard (10.5) is not available as a download or as a disk purchase from Apple.  You may find copies on e-bay for sale.
If your iMac can accept Snow Leopard (10.6), a disk can be purchased from the Apple online store.
    Ciao.

  • Best way to get "fresh" new battery for PBG4?

I need to buy my third battery for my 12" PBG4 (first two not recalled). Anyway, aren't some batteries fresher than others and, if so, how can I be ensured that I'm buying the freshest battery possible. I will have spent almost $300 for batteries and I want the most juice I can get. Where is the best place to order from. Is availablity an issue here?
    Thank you very much

Other than Apple, NewerTech is another choice.

  • Need new printer for MacBook

I'm distressed! Can anyone tell me which black and white reasonably priced printers work with my MacBook? I want information from those who have printers that are USB plugin and work right out of the box with a MacBook. I am so confused by everything being offered and the Apple site lists so few basic printers (everything is for photos).
    Thanks,
    Lisa...

Any USB printer will work provided there's an OS X compatible printer driver. You can check this list of printers known to be compatible. You can also check the manufacturer's support web site to determine if an OS X compatible driver is available for that printer. Buying from a vendor that supports Apple will also be helpful since they are not likely to sell printers that will not work with Macs.
Most non-laser printers being sold today are all color capable as well as black and white. It may be difficult to find a non-laser printer that only prints black and white.
Hewlett-Packard, Epson, Brother, Lexmark, and Canon, for example, all have many different models that are compatible (but not all models are compatible.)

  • I need to get a new printer/photo scanner for my new Mac. Any recommendations?

I need a new printer for my Mac. Also want to scan old photos and slides. Any recommendations?

You really need to determine what the priorities are. For example, scanning slides is not something you're going to be able to do with a multifunction printer.
It might be to your benefit to cost out dedicated printers and scanner. Then you don't need to compromise one thing for an other.

  • Print Jobs Stop -- First w Panther, Now w Tiger and New Printer!

I was dealing with multiple problems, so I'm not sure where to start. I was using a G4 with Panther when, among other things, I could no longer print because anytime I sent something to the printer the job would stop. Trying to start it again didn't work. My hard drive crapped out (separate issue I now realize) and I had it replaced w/ a new hard drive installed with Tiger & also purchased a new printer. I installed the new printer (for now I have it connected directly via USB) and to my surprise and chagrin I still can't print for the same reason! The job stops immediately after I send the document to print. Trying to re-start, or deleting and printing again, etc. does nothing. I've been through all the troubleshooting tips on the support page and am at wit's end. The problem doesn't seem to be specific to an application, an OS, or the printer. The Mac guy who set up my new hard drive did save as much as possible from the old one & migrated it to the new. He must have transferred the glitch, but what could it be? Please help.

    Thanks a lot Greg.
I had problems printing to shared printer which was connected to my mac downstairs from my powerbook over airport. Kept on coming up as printer stopped. I turned all off and on, reinstalled drivers, deleted printers, and nothing worked 'till I found your tip.
I love the mac community, keep up the good work.

  • New OS/new printer?

I currently use an Epson printer (Epson stylus Photo RX700) and have received notice of a new printer designed to work along with Apple's new Snow Leopard OS - the implication being that the printer I have now will not operate effectively with the new OS. I checked the on-line Apple store and could not tell whether or not the printers available are designed to handle the new OS.
Does anyone know whether or not I need a new printer for the new OS? If so, any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance

The RX700 appears to be supported (Both print and scan) out of the box on 10.6. So if you like it, keep it and use it!

If you have a USB printer connected to your computer, Mac or PC, you can activate or install AirPrint and print from your iPad over wifi without any special apps.

How can i order a new printer head for my photoshop 7250e  Is there a number i can ring to speak to someone or email address i can use or a web page where i can order one
or a list of agents i can use to get it from
Finding simple information seems impossible, no where does it mention spares or replacements
I have tried a lot of fault finding am convinced this is the problem

    Hello NigelH1,
The Print Head for the Photosmart 7250  is not available outside HP.
Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
If you are in US , the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .
If you are not in US , then log on to www.hp.com , at bottom-left corner there is a world map icon, click on it and then select the region you belong to, which would then provide support options for you for that region.
    Regards,

Give Kudos to say "thanks" by clicking on the "thumps Up icon" .
Click "Accept as Solution" if it solved your problem, so others can find it.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Printopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...
