NEW printer Officejet Pro 8500 A910 [9EDF91],NOT PRINTING in black !

NEW printer Officejet Pro 8500 A910 [9EDF91], initial prints had streaks, so I did print head clean, switch off, start again, and now it does NOT PRINT in black at all.  I have tried everything. VERY FRUSTRATED, can't get in touch with HP assist.  Any ideas what could be wrong?

I am having the same problem.  I was able to print one thing in black (the fax report during printer setup) and now I can't print in black at all!
About to return the product if I can't figure out a solution....

Sorry to hear that you are having some issues when it comes to printing anything in green.  I see that you have also attempted some steps in cleaning the printer.  I am going to give you a document that gives great detail in troubleshooting Print quality / Defective printouts.  This link has different documents that deal with print quality issues.
One other thing that could be affecting the Ink Delivery System is how you have the power cable connected. If you have it connected to a power bar/strip, please remove it and connect it directly to a wall outlet.  Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for all HP products in general.  Please click the link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Please write me back if you are still having issues or if you have additional questions.
I look forward to hearing from you but if it is not today, I hope you have a Fantastic Tuesday.

    Hi 1OfficeSandpoin,
As referenced here under solution five of the fourth section:
If you are using your HP product in a business environment, issues can occur if certain router ports have been closed by your network administrator. If the ports are closed, the HP product cannot initiate outward connections to Web Services servers. Check with your network administrator and confirm that ports 80, 443, 5222, and 5223 are open. When those ports are open the HP product connects with Web Services servers.
*NOTE-Although the document referenced is for Print Apps, the steps are the same for all web services.

  • HP Officejet pro 8500 A910 won't print wirelessly

    "An error has occurred. (devInfoPage-503)".
I've had my Officejet pro 8500 A910 for less than 6 months.  It was an easy set up and printed and scanned perfectly for at least 2 months.  I use a wireless connection from my laptop which is running Windows 7.  Then a few months ago I started having problems scanning wirelessly from the printer pad, it would tell me that there was no computer connected. If I went to my laptop and went into the HP Document Manager it would scan the document and save it to my laptop just fine.  And I could still print - the laptop had no problem finding the printer.
About a month ago I had a really big print job for work.  But I figured this was a sturdy printer and could handle it.  Towards the end though the printer would stop printing for no apparent reasoning with the keypad just showing the spooling circle and saying "printing".  The only way to get it to actually print was to unplug the computer, delete the print job and start again.
Then for a while I had to do that every time I wanted to print, even after the "big print job" was long over, and still no scanning from the printer (will scan from the laptop).
I've tried several times uninstalling and reinstalling the software.  I've checked to make sure the printer is included in the "home network".
Today I reinstalled the software at the Control Panel on my laptop I get the green checkmark meaning the printer is set up and ready to go, but when I try to print a self  test page I get this message "An error has occurred. (devInfoPage-503)".  Any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated.  Thank you so much for your time.

My Office jet has printed fine wirelessly for 6 months but started to not recognise the computer.  re starting worked for while but now it will not recognise the computer at all.  The computer says  Scanner communication cannot be established and the printer says it sees the computer.
Why did it work but now won't?
    Thanks,
    Billy

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Series - Not printing Cyan ink

    Hi,
I am having an issue with my HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Series (about 4-5 years old) where it has stopped printing Cyan completely. I have had this issue about 2-3 months ago which was solved by cleaning the cyan and magenta print head. After cleaning the print head this time it has not solved the issue.
If I dab the print head onto a lint cloth cyan and magenta ink comes out so I don't think it's an issue with the ink getting to the printhead so have ruled dried up pipes out.
I have done the standard troubleshooting with no luck. According to the print quality diagnostics page all cartridges are at atleast 30% and above and Printhead health claims to be 'Good'.
This all leads me to believe it must be some kind of technical issue rather than physical, something wrong with the printhead chip not allowing it to dispense Cyan ink?

    Hello @12MattC,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to print in Cyan ink on your HP Officejet 8500 A909a, usually you can clean the printheads and the Cyan will come back, but this time that did not help.
I would like you to make sure you complete ALL steps listed here: Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in... (Printer listed is the 6500, same steps apply to the 8500)
Please let me know the outcome, if you are still unable to print in Cyan ink call our technical support at 800-474-6836 to see what options they have available for you. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Incomplete printing - OfficeJet Pro 8500 A910

Hello, I am on Win 7 x64 with fully updated drivers for the A910. I have a problem with duplex printing.
When I print two sides in excel, the first page comes out fine but the second one prints incomplete- rather than completing the print, the printer stops near the end, leaving a small portion of the page competely blank. It is always the second page, and I have automatic duplex turned on.
So far that I've seen, the issue is only for duplex printing on MS excel. I've tried a few MS Word files and it prints the second side perfectly.
    Thanks for the help.

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are having some issues with printing from your Officejet 8500A. I can help with that. This document outlines how to troubleshoot print quality issues with your printer. • OfficeJet Pro 8500 - specific color not printing (Magenta)

Thanks for the advice!  It didn't fix the problem.  When I print a test page there is no magenta bar.  It says that both printheads are in good health.  Does that mean I still need to replace the Magenta/Cyan printhead?   Thanks in advance!

Hi LonBones, and thanks for the reply.
It is possible you are experiencing a failed printhead.  To best work towards a resolution, I would recommend contacting HP directly.  You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Not Workings

My HP printer (Officejet Pro 8500 A910) will not print from my MacBook Air--every time I try to print it says "connected to printer" and doesn't do anything else. When I run network diagnostics it says the server has failed. I've tried restarting my router. Any ideas?

Umm. Port forwarding maybe a tought work for you. Let's try the other solutions. Did you try da Printer Setup Wizard? Make sure you have selected the appropiate drivers (Air Print Drivers instead of the original one). If not, you mac wouldn't be able to recognize your printer status properly.
    Good luck,

  • Can't install Officejet Pro 8500 A910 on the network in my Windows XP laptop

Everything installs normally except connection options fail to detect the printer when the network connection is selected. The prompt that follows for network type also fails when wired (Ethernet) is selected. Firewalls are turned off during installation.
The network printer can be seen by the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility. Using the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility to check connection indicates software missing, connection verified, and test print failed.
The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Embedded Web Server can be opened from the web browser by entering the IP address.
Changing the printer port to the IP address allows the printer to work but does not enable all of the all-in-one functions such as scanning or running HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910.exe.
Turning the power off and back on to the printer, computer, and router did not fix the problem. Re-installing the software several times did not fix the problem.
The installation works normally with other computers on the same network that run Windows Vista or Windows 7.
So far, customer support has not been able to help.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Resolved, not solved.
I talked to HP product support. The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 will not install on Windows XP (at least the Home Edition) when networked through a router. It will install through USB. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with only USB connected to clean out all the network printer/scanner information. Product support claimed it would install through an ether net cable connected between the printer and computer but this does little good if you need internet access.
