New Pro Application updates are available Oct. 20, 2005

Check software update. There are new Pro Application and Support updates. This update also includes an apparent fix for problems when transcoding between HD and SD and when converting between NTSC and PAL.

When I try to convert DV-NTSC to DV-PAL or Uncompressed 8-bit (UN8) NTSC to UN8-PAL, using the Apple Presets in Compressor, I get files that are in PAL resolution (720 X 576), but they all have a frame rate of 29.97 fps.
I have installed this Pro App update. Was this update supposed to fix this particular problem?
Any other ideas about this particular problem?
My system:
Dual G5 2.3GHz
4.5 GB RAM
OS 10.4.2
FCP 5.0.2
QT Pro 7.0.3
Compressor 2.0.1

  • Application updates are available, but I can't log In!

    Hi,
Since updating to iTunes 8.1, I'm experiencing some very strange Store behavior.
In iTunes, when I click on Applications, an indicator appears notifying me that there are 3 iPhone Application updates available, and I'm being asked to log into the store to download these updates. Although I KNOW I'm entering the correct password, I can't log in. The weird thing is, if I enter this same password, I can access my account, available credits, etc.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks!

Same problem here basically: I have app upgrades ready to download but cannot get to them. Tried different ISPs. I get a window to pop up indicating: "Could not complete the iTunes Store Request. The store may be busy. Check your internet connection and try later". OTOH, I can buy and download NEW apps OK. Same thing when trying to download app upgrades from the iPhone itself: "Cannot connect to the iTunes store".
That problem seems to have generated a firestorm of concerns elsewhere on the Apple Discussion Forums:

  • New 'Pro Applications Update' 1.0 Released

So I think this is a new release, it just today popped up for me on Software Updates. It looks like it's mostly for FCP and Compressor, but it does have a new PluginManager 1.7.3 that is used by Logic. The release notes are dated March 28th, but the update just showed up for me today.
Here are the release notes: http://www.apple.com/support/releasenotes/en/FinalCut_Studio_2.0rn/
Just thought I'd alert everyone to this, and start a thread that people can post to with any potential changes/issues with this release and Logic. I haven't downloaded it yet, but will report back when I do.

Thanks for the assumption that I stole Logic Pro.
Woah, eeeeasy there tiger! We're all friends here. No assumptions made, but just throwing out a possible explanations for your troubles, and having a cracked copy is a perfectly plausible one. If it doesn't apply than that's cool.
That is not the case. I have searched and I did not see the typical S/N stickers that came with logic express with the Pro Upgrade. I am not positive, but I believe that when upgrading, you use the original Express SN and that Logic Pro upgrade derives a new SN from the valid SN of express. However, that leaves you with no hard copy of the SN.
You definitely positively have a hard copy of the serial number. Every copy of Logic, no matter whether it's a full version or upgrade, comes with its own unique serial found in the box. I too upgraded from Logic Express so I know this is fact. In the box you'll find a thin white 12 page leaflet entitled 'Installing Your Software' and on it you will find your serial number. You have to type this in when you install Logic on your system, so you must have found it at some point if you have Logic on your system. You can find the number through the applications as you did, but you DO have a hard copy that comes with the software.
However, the SN DID NOT work on the Final Cut Studio page.
If it's a Logic serial, you have to use the Logic downloads page.
If you went to the regular downloads page on the website (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/) and clicked on the update, it takes you to the Final Cut update page, which is definitely confusing. It's easy to find the Logic website though, just go to apple homepage, type Logic in the search, and the first thing that pops up will be the Logic page (or just remember www.apple.com/logic). At the bottom is a link to the updates.
Its too bad that 1) Apple has to use serialization to protect their intellectual property (but I do support their right to do so) and that 2) this inflicts an additional level of complication on the creative process.
But there's an even easier way! Simply run Software Updates, and if you have Logic installed on your machine it will find this, and all other updates, that you need. You can run Software Updates from the Apple menu on your toolbar with just a single mouse click, or set it up to run automatically through System Preferences. It doesn't get much easier than that! You don't need to go to any website or type in your serial number ever when you allow Software Updates to do this for you. In fact, I've never done any update to Apple software through the Apple website, the Software Update function finds everything I need.
I hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

    Hi,
I scoured the web looking everywhere for a solution to this.
    Exit Code 15
OSX 8.5 with Work@Home DVD media for CS6
I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually
installing from a new account, safe mode, plist everything suggested that i found did not work.
A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:
    /Library/Application Supports/Adobe
They turned out to be correct, so i am passing this on, because this took far too many hours of my time.

  • How can I resolve error code -54 in iTunes? I am using the latest iTunes. No new updates are available.

How can I resolve error code -54 in iTunes? I am using the latest iTunes. No new updates are available. I'm using iTunes 11.3 on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.8. I can't save my library in iTunes, the message just keeps popping up.

From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Although there is no formal list of OSX error code some of the old codes still apply to OSX .)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
Try quitting iTunes, then deleting the .xml (not .itl !) version of the library file in the iTunes folder (iTunes will generate a new one).

  • I bought a used macbook pro from a friend. Software updates are available, but when I try to update, the computer asks for apple id and will only accept the former owner´s. How can I connect my macbook to my apple id?

I bought a used macbook pro from a friend. Software updates are available, but when I try to update, the computer asks for apple id and will only accept the former owner´s. How can I connect my macbook to my apple id?

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.

  • Pro Applications Update 2010-02 not available

    This is a heads up.
I just bought FCS and attempted to download the Pro Applications Update 2010-02 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL949 in case I ever need to do a clean install at a time when I don't have internet access. This page asked me for my serial number, which I provided, but told me that my serial number is invalid.
With my 90 day complimentary support, I called 1-800-275-2273, and was told that my serial number is valid but the server containing this update is down. I was advised to use apple.com.feedback. That was my support.
I often work in natural settings that don't even have a telephone, so my work environment must be self sufficient. While I did successfully update using Software Update, acquiring this update in file form is important to me because there are times when a clean install of the OS and apps is the most effective way of dealing with problems, and I can not assume that I will have internet access at such a time.
If you are having the same problem, it's not your serial number.

I have had the same problem on many occasions.
What I found is that if I continually try, it EVENTUALLY kicks in.
    Weird man!!!

Have you gone through the process of accepting the iLife apps into your iTunes/Mac App Store account before updating the apps?

  • What updates are available for Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30)?

What updates are available for Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30)?

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard system requirements
    Purchased Installer disc here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
Installing and updating OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to OS X 10.6.8 gives your Mac access to the Mac App Store where you can decide which version of OS X to upgrade to, again, if you desire.
    OS X Lion system requirements
    Purchased emailed download code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended)
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
To install OS X  10.8 Mountain Lion or OS X 10.10 Yosemite.you need one of these Macs:
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion purchased emailed download code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory (I strongly advise, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more)
8 GB or more of available space.
Your year and model Mac can take a total of 6 GBs of RAM, max..
I strongly suggest you install the max. RAM your Mac can take.
Correct, compatible and reliable Mac RAM can ONLY be purchased from online RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
OWC is the only source for the  6 GB RAM kit.
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple, from a software company called Transitive, which got bought out, I believe, by IBM and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.
    http://roaringapps.com/
If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUpMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest versions of OS X by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password and using the appropriate download codes need
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing your desired versions of OS X  from the Mac App Store.

  • I need pro applications update 2008-02

I recently updated several FCP stations with the Pro Applications Update 2008-02, but for some reason it only changed FCP from 6.0.1 to 6.0.4 on one of them. So I retried performing the update, but nothing comes up. Then I tryed manually downloading it, but the now the version update (pro applications update 2008-03) changed to require an OS update.
The administrators will not allow me to update the OS in order to get this new update because of the other software apps on the computers in this lab, and the fact that it could cause problems with other software.
Is there anywhere where I can get the old Pro Applications Update 2008-02?

I need to make a slight correction...
The Pro Apps Update 2008-003 should still contain the FCP 6.0.4 installer. The trend I've seen with new updates such as these is that they still contain the necessary installers from previous releases. Our systems here are still running FCP 6.0.3 with no plans to upgrade just yet, so I haven't tested this out just yet. But I still have previous updates archived to the iDisk.

  • Pro Applications Update 2010-02 installed, but not installed.

I downloaded and installed the latest software update and it said it was successfully installed, but when I look at the applications, they are not updated (e.g. Compressor is version 3.5.2 when it should be 3.5.3). I have opened the applications just to check for the new features, but they are not there.
Is there something I'm not doing? Would reinstalling the apps do anything?

I was having the same problem on two of my older systems. It seemed like every week (automatically) or anytime I manually ran software update, it would recommend "Pro Applications Update 2008-05 1.0 3.1 MB". This seem to be a looping problem and it continued even after applying the update. I replaced one of my computers and being a new computer I was not having any problems. Later I upgraded my hard drive and chose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Case Sensitive" as the format for my new drive. About a week later the problem started happening on my new computer with a new drive. I also noticed some applications that I migrated over were acting strange. So I re-formatted my drive "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and the problem has seemed to have gone away. I think some applications and utilities including "software update" (in some instances) may not like a case sensitive file system. Also note that Apple ships their computers Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and I wonder how many companies including Apple beta test both "Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Case Sensitive" and "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Any application that writes to a intermediate file on the filesystem or relies on reading and writing to files on the file system could potentially be affected if it were developed on a non case sensitive systems and later deployed on a system that was case sensitive.

  • Pro Applications Update 2009-01 doesn't change version numbers?

    Hi,
I ran the Pro Applications Update 2009-01 on my FCS installation. The update seemed to work fine, but when I open up FCP or any of the other apps, the version numbers are not changed. From the Pro Application Update page:
"Pro Applications Update 2009-01 is a revision to Final Cut Studio (2009). This update includes Final Cut Pro 7.0.1, Motion 4.0.1, Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1, Color 1.5.1, and Compressor 3.5.1. The software addresses general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues."
Since none of my FCS apps have upgrade version numbers, I can't tell if any of the fixes were applied. Is it possible I did something wrong when I ran the update?
    Thanks.
    Mike

Thanks Larry and David for your responses, but unfortunately I'm not seeing what you are
My Final Cut Studio 2009 apps are upgrades from the previous version. All the apps for FCS are in a "Final Cut Studio" folder that I created in Applications to hold the programs (I also drag this folder to the dock to have easy access to the apps).
If I do a Command-I on the apps in this folder, they all show the old versions. Spotlight shows there are no other versions other than the ones in my "Final Cut Studio" folder.
I wonder if the update's not working because I have the apps in a folder other than the original install location? The funny thing is that both VersionTracker and CNet's TechTracker say that there are new versions to install. But I would think that the updater would fail if I moved the apps from their original locations, not just end successfully?

  • Pro Applications Update 2005-1 doesn't install

I have installed DVD Studio Pro 4.0 with Compressor and QMaster.
Then I updated DVD Studio to 4.03.
With these Update there was also the Option to install Pro Applications Update 2005-1 1.1
I marked it and the install routine proceed.
After that both updates are marked with the green tick (checkmark).
BUT after that, to check for newer Updates I started the Search Process again. And it found the 2005-1 1.1 Update again! And nothing more....
Is there a way to get newer Updates in another way?
Do I need the 2005-1 1.1 for newer Updates?
What can I do do get the Update work properly?
    I hope somebody could help....
    Andreas

Have you gotten the latest update, which came out a day ago and includes support for FCS1?
If this is not a time-sensitive issue, you may want to just wait until 10.4.11, which may fix the problem.

  • Pro Applications Update didn't update

I had a problem with an error message saying the "file is too new for this version of the software.
I have FCP 6 (part of Final Cut Studio 2)
I read here that the fix to the problem is an update which I just downloaded and installed, but my FCP 6 was not updated. In the "about" it shows version 6.0
When I tried to open the files, I still get the same message.

In fact I just noticed that earlier this year I also updated Pro Applications Update 2008-01
The update I made today is 2008-02
When I check the FCP6 Application Info, it still shows version 6.0 and it hasn't been modified since 2007.
Why would the updates not update my FCP6?
