New Processor Working?

I have a Dual Processor and just switched out a faulty processor. I do not know if the new processor is refurbished. How can I tell if it is even working? I do not think it is working because when I make a movie on iMovie, it still does not work right. Before my processor died, i Movie worked well. I tried iMovie with one processor, but it would not work right. This is why I question if the new one is working right. Is there a way to tell on my end?

Okay, my question is back open, thank you.
My System profiler does say that each CPU is version 2.2.
I have the older 1.8 Dual processor. It is about 4 1/2 years old.
I will have to check iStat to see if both are working. This is what I was really trying to find out.
I did not put the processor in. It was done at a local Apple Seller (not an Apple Store). They did not run a thermal calibration at first. I had to bring it back in because the fans kept running. They did it, and now the fans hardly run.
I do not recall if CPU A or B was running hotter. I will check when I get home.
I raised my original question instead of just bringing it back in again because I have lost confidence in them. First, it took two weeks for them to diagnose the problem. Then, the tech did not know he was supposed to run a thermal callibration when they did put in the new processor.

It came to my attention there a new program working with itune since last update named Apsdaemon.exe its been using 99% of my processus when its active.
Any idea why so much and will it be fix eventually because before last update i never encounter any issue using Itune? Now when that aplication or extention from Itune is working my computor froze to a huge alt. I play video games online and love listening to my music with itune playing in the background and normally was able to have firefox open and a program called ventrillo all working at the same time and now i can barelly have itune and play a game. As soon it start been choppy i just control alt delete wait 5 minute to close down apsdaemon.exe when i'm capable most of the time i have to restart my computor. And why is it so Heavy consuming on the process its memory utility is under the 100ko i believe so why 99% of my processus is been use ?
a good exemple i could give is itune.exe working it shows process 02% for 123 000ko that is light and perfect.

Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you.
If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

  • What processors work with the Mac mini?

    Hello everyone!
I've got the previous gen mini, and unless it is too expensive, I'd like to get a 7200 rpm HDD and a new processor. I can't seem to find what socket the mini uses or what processors will work.
    Any insight is appreciated!
On a completely unrelated note, how do I clean out the trackball on my Mighty Mouse?

You're looking for an Intel Core 2 Duo "Merom" in the T7000 series which is a Socket P. If I am not mistake, the highest chip you can find that works is the T7700. It's pricey: $300+.

  • IMac G4 New Processor

hey everybody. I was wondering if anyone could help me with something. I have an iMac g4 snowball. It has a
700 MH Processor.I would like to put a newer processor in it. It is the best computer I have ever used as far as architecture.
My own opinion of course and I don't expect others to agree, but for those of you who like to mess around with computers,
I'd like some help to make it better. So, is this possible?

As the dremel junkie mod is my mod, I can assure you that it is not that difficult, nor that expensive.  In fact, depending on your goals, it may be the cheapest option for upgrading available.  I would not bother upgrading to the 800mhz mobo (there will be no discernible difference) nor trying to track down the Daystar CPU or purchasing a working 1.25Ghz PPC G4.  The reason is that the problem is the Power PC.  It is no longer supported, not even by apple.  No new software is written for it, including browsers.  Web video formats and plugins are not optimized for it, if they even work at all.  This will only continue to get worse.
I know this may seem daunting, but for less than $20 in materials, you can turn the video cable that plugs into the iMacs motherboard into a DVI cable.  No soldering required.  I have a very detailed step by step for the 17" version (but I have the pin out for the 15" and can talk you through it).  It can be done in less than an hour and involves pushing 14 pins onto a dvi connector, connecting 3 wires and a resistor, then using 4 or 5 alligator wires to hook it to a molex connector and plug that in somewhere (even a molex to AC wall plug adapter).  The reason it's so easy is that apple has already put a DVI cable through the neck (it uses TMDS, the same signaling) you just have to put the pins in the ight place of a dvi connector and add power.
The rest is up to you as to what to upgrade it to.  Some options include:
    1) Connect the DVI to the back so that it can hook up to an external computer.  I use a 20" iMac G4 (modded) as a monitor for a Mac mini.  I added a USB optial drive to replace the one missing from the 2011 mini.  I love this setup.
    2)  Use this as a wired or wireless (with a wireless DVI USB dongle) second monitor for a laptop.  Or put an apple tv in the base and use it as an airplay receiver.
    3) Add a small motherboard as I have done to make it an all-in-one, most expensive, but depends on what you choose.  This will have to be a hackintosh if you want Mac OSX, but you are free to run any OS you want.  Run Windows, Linux, or even HTPC software like Boxee or XBMC.
I began this project because I like you, love this design and wanted to keep using it despite the outdated computer inside.  Do not waste money on minor incremental upgrades to obsolete architecture.  Instead make this DVI compatible so that you can use its ergonomic design with any computer (inside or outside) you see fit.  I've worked hard to make this as simple as possible and if you can assemble a computer from off the shelf components and strip and connect speaker wire to a home stereo system then you can do this.  Hope this helps. • Screen goes dim when processor working - even when plugged to mains power.

Screen goes dim when processor working - even when plugged to mains power.
Whether I'm running 3D software or just surfing the net, the screen keeping fading/dimming and then recovering over a few seconds. No USB devices connected, mains power on - NOT IMPRESSED!
Any ideas - a hardware problem? Back to Mac?

If you go to System Preferences > Energy Saver, the is a checkbox under the "options" tab that says, "Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep." On my new MBP (10.5.1), this was "on" by default. Try unchecking it and see if it helps.

  • New hard drive/new processor

i recently upgraded to a new processor/hard drive, my old hard drive is still in my computer as local drive F, i went there to move my ipod software onto the new hard drive, and it didnt work, so i reinstalled the software onto the new hard drive, now i cant get my library info from the old drive to the new, if i open itunes from the old drive, it appears empty! i still have all the info on my ipod, if i plug in the ipod will it be wiped clean? is there a way to transfer the info from the ipod to the computer, i have 1300 songs and many photos, i dont want to have to import all that again

"if i plug in the ipod will it be wiped clean?"
If you let the iPod sync to a blank iTunes -- YES!
Based on your psot, your music and photo data files are still on the HD, just not within iTunes as References. You do have some options:
1 - Try to recover your original Library by moving the music folders and database file back to their original location (now on the new C: drive) - then move them to whatever location you want (if desired)
2 - Move all the music files to their final location, then Rebuild the Library within iTunes by: File=>Add Folder
3 - Recover the music from the iPod using any one of several methods (but as long as you have the files on the PC already, why?)
Option 1 will retain your Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played and Date Added attributes as well as your Playlists.
Option 2 will lose the above music metadata.
Option 3 can do either, depending on the method selected.
    Whatcha wanna do?

It got me too.It did work when I installed it manually.
Try getting it form the MS Manual Updater It should be under (Find driver updates for hardware devices)then(other hardware)then(Manufacturer name:microsft corporation).Don't try to save it to your dektop. For some reason it won't do it.Save it to C: or anywhere but the desktop.

  • Power mac G5 dual 2.3 - less than 3 yrs old - needs new processor?

I have a PM G5 Dual 2.3 that was purchased in April 06.
It was working perfectly, as it always had on Friday Jan 23 at 12 pm. I went out to lunch and came back an hour later and it was off and could not be restarted by ANY and ALL means.
I took it to the local Apple store and the diagnosis was that it needs a new processor. I have had Apples for 20 years and they have all lasted until a newer model was desired - not needed. This computer is barely over 2 1/2 yrs old.
Does anyone know of anything else it could be? I do not want to spend 1200.00 on a new processor that is already archaic and not an intel.
Also, I did not have the 3 year AppleCare on it (unfortunately) so it's all on me to pay.
Has anyone had any success negotiating with Apple for a discounted repair?
    Thanks!

    Hi LG111-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple Discussion boards
Total bummer. Without AppleCare the cost of repair has been known to be quite high.
You could just run the machine on one processor.
As far as negotiating with Apple, you can always try, however its been out of warranty for quite a long time.
    Luck-

  • New processor?(upgrade?)

    this may sound dumb.
When Apple does indeed switch to Intel couldnt we just buy a new processor?
then instead of being left behind or slowed down we could upgrade?

    This is totally incorrect
The processor is not the only thing within a computer that makes it work. There is a chipset of multiple components and lots of traces built into the 'motherboard' that carry out the data/power/error checking.
The PowerPC 970/G5 Architecture uses HyperTransport which uses very few intercommunication wires and a south bridge chip to handle I/O.
The current, and near future Intel line of processors does not use Hyper Transport, and it also requires a north bridge chip to handle processor to memory, and processor to south bridge communication.
Not to mention all new, and totally different traces, and most likely as well different memory. Unless it changed recently IA32/x86-64 architectures use parity memory and Mac architectures use non-parity so all the memory is incompatible/wrong speed.
The only things really in your system built today that could theoretically work in the future would be teh SATA drive, and the Airport Extreme card if you have one. Most everything else would be different completely.
There is no way to make that type of an architecture shift 'upgradable' short of 'rip and replace'

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

P.S. No need to apologize!  Most of the people here (none of us are Apple employees) enjoy trying to help others.

  • Why doesn't my new password work ?

I have requested and received your instructions for changing my password TWICE !  Each time I made the change and received your email to acknowledge the change.  However, when I try to update Reader, as it appears on my computer dashboard, it will not accept my new password.  It begins to download and states that the password is incorrect.  Can you help me to have the new password work ??
    Thanks

There is no request from Adobe to enter any password when downloading Adobe Reader.
You may be prompted for a password when you install Reader, because of your own computer's user account control - that password is nothing to do with Adobe, it's the one you created when you installed your operating system.

  • Does the new iPad work with adobe flash?

Does the new Ipad work with a version of adobe flash?  I have read several articles, and I'm just more confused than when I started!  I'm a newer Mac user, and I'm interested in the new iPad, but I don't know if I want it if it doesn't support internet pages that use adobe flash.  Thanks for your help!!

Adobe eliminated its "mobile Flash" department.  Android, Mobile Windows, IOS, WebOS ... everyone is out of luck.

  • I had to go back to IE 8 for online banking. Had to Clear SSL State, too in IE to make a new page work. Is there an equivalent in Firefox??

My online banking website recently made some major programming changes. Since then, I have not been able to use Firefox for the banking website.
The bank help desk had me install IE 8, then clear the SSL state using a feature in IE's options/content screen. So now the new page works in IE but still does not in Firefox. From what I have learned from the bank help desk, it appears that there is some kind of an ssl hand shake failure within the one page since their changes.
Is there a similar feature in Firefox where I can clear the SSL state?

First update back to Firefox 16.0.2, as staying on older versions leaves you extremely vulnerable to security holes.
    Then try using [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/email-this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/email-this]

I am new to working with pdf.  I am trying to fill out a form that was attached to a website.  I have a Macbook Pro and I am trying to learn Acrobat.  How do I get the form to accept my input?

If there are Acrobat PDF form fields, not jus a space for a form field, then you will have to add them. It would be better to ask the provider of the form to add the fields. If you cannot add the fields, then you can use the add text feature.
Have you looked in the "Tools" panel for the "Forms" category?
