New purchases will not sync!

I purchased music the other day from itunes and they will not sync onto ipod.  If I try to manually sync I get a message asking if I want to delete songs.  If I click this it looks like i will lose all of my cd downloaded music.  I do not want to do this. Is this problem something to do with icloud?  help!

If there are song files that have not been added to your iTunes library, they need to be.  They will not automatically appear in iTunes just by being on the computer's hard drive.
Run iTunes and select your iTunes music library, so that it is showing in the iTunes window.  Open a window that shows the song files, or the folder containing the song files.  Drag the song files or the folder to the iTunes window (showing its library) and drop it/them there.  iTunes will add those songs to the iTunes library.
NOTE:  You can also do the same with by selecting (from the menu bar)
File -> Add to Library...
and selecting the songs.  Either way you do it, that should solve the problem of the CD music not being in your iTunes library.  So do that first...
When I  choose the sync music tab where you suggested and I click sync music that is where the pop up comes and ask me if I am sure I want to delete the library and re install the this library.
Yes, because your iPod is probably set right now to manage music manually.  When you set up automatic syncing, everything currently on the iPod, will be replaced based on how you set up the Music tab. But the music in your iTunes music library is NOT affected.  If you set the Music tab to sync only that one playlist, what is currently on the iPod will be replaced by the selection of songs in that playlist.
As long as everything in the iPod right now is also in your iTunes music library, you won't lose any songs.  If there are songs you want to keep on the iPod that are NOT also in your iTunes music library, then you will lose those songs (unless you first transfer them off the iPod).
The newly purchased music WILL sync, as long as they are part of the selection on the Music tab.  If you put them on that playlist, and select that playlist on the Music tab, they will sync.

    Hello there, Capricious13.
There are great pointers in the following Knowledge Base article. Depending on where you see the content and where you want to get it to, this should guide you to putting it in the right place:

  • New purchase will not sync to ipod

We purchased 3 songs from itunes, they play fine on the pc but only 2 of the 3 will sync to ipod. when ipod is plugged in itunes says they are on ipod, sync. eject ipod and they are not there.

Maybe the drive letter on your exHD is getting changed. If it is F: one day and you plug in a different USB device, Windows can nicely change the exHD's letter to G: for you. That would make itunes not be able to find the music, since itunes is looking for it on F: Not G:
    Assign the drive letter permanently.

  • My new iPad will not sync with itunes. itunes is updated to lastest version. Do I need to uninstall itunes and reinstall?

My new iPad will not sync with itunes. itunes is updated to latest version. Do I need to uninstall itunes and reinstall?

That could be a solution. Are you getting any error messages or error codes? Is the iPad recognized in iTunes? Does anything happen at all when you try to Sync? Can you provide more details?
You can try a very simple first step, quit iTunes, reboot your PC and restart the iPad.

  • My new ipad will not sync with itunes.  the device does not show up in itunes

my new ipad will not sync with itunes.  the device does not show up in itunes.  I am on a Windows system

Do you have the absolute latest version of iTunes downloaded?  If your iTunes software has not been updated in some time, your iPad will not be recognized.  With iTunes open, click on Store at the top.  Check for available downloads and if there are any, download them.  Once you've verified you have the latest software, connect your device again, and it should be recognized.

  • New iPad2 will not sync with iTunes 9.2.1.

Have tried every thing but it will not sync. I'm running iMac 10.4.11 and cannot run the latest iTunes because it requires 10.5 to run. Have I purchased something which I cannot use.

I don't know how easy it is to upgrade Macs as I've only had mine a short time (so probably know more than me), hopefully somebody on here will have suggestions for the best way to do so - so I don't know whether you need this http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC680Z/A?n=osx&fnode=MTY1NDAzOA&mco=MTk0MjIyNz c&s=topSellers, or whether you can get away with this http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573Z/A?n=osx&fnode=MTY1NDAzOA&mco=MTc1MTEzNj Y&s=topSellers (one of the questions/answers below it implies that it's ok)

  • New music will not sync to my iPhone 4, and music that was previously synced but was added to library through a CD will not play and has a red square and is grayed out.

I use iTunes on my family iMac, my iTunes, I believe, one update below the current software any my iPhone is on iOS 7.0.3. Music purchased through iTunes syncs correctly and will play properly. Songs that I have obtained through CD's, however, are now grayed out and have a red square with a circle around it. When I click on the song, it will cycle through my library until it can play a song. iTunes will also not restore songs that I have removed from my iPhone but are in the cloud. Is there any possible way to fix this issue? Everything has been working fine until iOS 7 and the new version of iTunes. Thank you for your time!

I am so relieved to hear that I am not the only one experiencing this! However, I am sorry to hear you are going through this as well. Lucky for me I am upgrading to a 5s which will be sent to me on Wednesday. I did stumble upon an article with tips on how to downgrade back to iOS 7, but I am EXTREMELY apprehensive about doing that myself. Here's the article link if you want to give it a go:

  • New 4s will not sync properly with existing 3gs data in itunes

I just purchased a new 4s to replace my old 3GS. When i connect my new 4s and trying to sync to i-tunes to apps from my 3gs snyc will not come into my 4s. I also have a i-pad2 that also snyc's to the same computer.
Should i un-install my itunes, re-install i-tunes on my PC, sync my old 3gs again and then try to sync my 4s again?

I have a problem with sorting playlists using iPhone 4/iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5. I use the field "comments" to sort my playlists, when sorting by the field "comments" ascending everything is OK, but when "sorting" by the field "comments" descending it keeps appearing ascending.
I also notice that the name of the playlists appear inverted between iTunes and iPhone.
I did not have this problem before, this a new issue with iTunes 10.5/iOS 5. Need help to fix these sorting issue problems in iTunes 10.5.

  • HT1420 My old computer crashed so I bought this new one. I can't get my prevouis purchases and my new purchases will not let me add to my IPODs. I deauthorized all computers and just authourzed ths one. my new one. How do I get my music back and how do I

My old computer crashed andI bought a new one. When I went to Itunes I deauthorized all computers and then authorized my new one but I can not get my prevous purchases and I can not add my new purchases to my IPods with out it deleting all the music. How can I transfer everything that was on the old computer to this new one?

Whether you can redownload previous purchases depends upon the type of item (audiobooks and ringtones are one-time only downloads), what country that you are in (music, films, TV shows can't be redownloaded in all countries), and whether the item is still in your country's store (content providers occasionally remove their items) - what you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage
Or you should be able to copy purchases back from your iPod via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option (if the drop-down menus aren't showing then control-B should get them to show).
If you have music from other sources on your iPod (e.g. copied from CDs) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Or do you have a copy of them anywhere else e.g. on your backup of your downloads/library that you can copy them onto your new computer from ?

purchased new iPhone 4s today and my music will not upload? any answers?

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • New iPod will not sync song ratings with iTunes

A few months ago I bought an iPhone (my first Apple MP3 player) and loaded it up with some music and everything worked fine between it and iTunes. I would rate some songs on the iPhone and synced it up with iTunes and it transferred those song ratings over with no problems.
I later got rid of the iPhone and bought an iPod 4GB Nano and loaded it up with music but when I rated some songs and synced it up with iTunes it would not transfer the ratings over. It would transfer over the ratings fine from iTunes to the iPod but not the other way around. I removed and reinstalled iTunes and deleted the iTunes folder within the My Music folder on my computer and reloaded iTunes and imported all my music again. Restored and reset my iPod and tried again, it still will not transfer over the song ratings from iPod to iTunes.
So I figured I got a screwed up iPod (it was a refurb) and decided to go ahead and upgrade. Bought a brand new iPod 8GB Nano and the same thing is happening again. Although it's not absolutely critical to be able to rate songs it helps in getting my music library sorted in deciding what to keep or not.
Any idea what to do short of reinstalling Vista or moving my music library over to another computer to sync with?

Hi, I just sorted out this problem for my ipod touch. Jose9550 and Chris in CA did not explain very well how it is to be sorted - their posts helped me but iI sort of discovered it by accident. My main problem was that the ipod did not update itunes with my track ratings made direct with the touch screen whilst listening to tracks.
Here is how I found out how to sort it:
Step 1: Click on the option in the summary screen to manually manage the music on you Ipod. Back up any tracks/playlists that you don't want to lose.
Step 2: Create a few playlists with music that you want on Ipod
Step 3: Click on your Ipod name in Itunes side bar and then select the Music tab on the main panel on the right. Now click on the check box "Sync Music". This will bring up a prompt that all your music /playlists currently on the Ipod may be erased. Accept this message and then click on check box "Selected playlists". Now pick the playlists/playfolders you want synced. Click apply.
Step 4: Go into the menu bar in itunes and select Edit>Preferences>Devices> and uncheck box beside "Disable Automatic syncing for IPhones and IPods"
Now any changes made to the playlists/tracks etc on the desktop or IPod will be transferred in both directions.

  • New software will not sync

Since I downloaded the new software for 3G iPhones last night, my iPhone will no longer sync to my computer. It will stay in "sync mode" (where the phone screen says slide to cancel) for about 10 seconds and then it stops and just stops syncing all together. Even though I updated to the new software last night, it still says I need to update to new software, but when I try, it extracts it and then when it tries to install, it gives me the error "could not sync ^0 to sarah's iphone because an unknown error occurred (-19)."
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

HOWEVER, my iphone 2G has not yet been able to update to the new 2.1 firmware. It downloaded and then following the downloaded software extraction, the error (-19) came up. Now, my 2.02 firmware iphone refuses to remain in the sync mode. It just appears to be charging. Is this an itunes 8 problem?
