NEW RAM working? Is there a test for it?

Hello, I have a G5 with dual 1.8GHz. It shipped with 1GB of RAM. I do a lot of music recording on my Mac and so I decided to upgrade to 2GB of RAM.
I purchased a 1GB kit PC3200 DDR (manufacturer part #STA-G5400/1BG) from Club Mac.
I installed the RAM per the directions and when I rebooted the computer, it shows that I have 2GB DDR SDRAM when I click on the "About this Mac" in the menu.
However, I cannot see ANY positive difference in performance. If anything, the computer seems to be hanging-up a bit more when opening apps such as the ones I use for music recording and/or video editing.
Is there a test that I can run on the computer to see if the RAM is working properly and at the proper speed?

When installing RAM in a G5 it isn't always essential, but it can be a good idea to reset nvram while booted to the Open Firmware screen.
If the RAM you bought is "slow" Cas Latency than what you had, it could be running slower, but unlikely.
I would say 1.5GB is the 'sweet spot' for most needs and users.
Clearing out all the cache folders; cloning your system and then doing an erase and restore can help - superduper is one program worth investing in or there is CCC or even Apple DU Restore.
If your hdd is more than 60% full might want to look into another drive, or faster boot drive (10K 74GB Raptor - a newer and faster model similar to the 150GB Raptor is due "soon").
Applejack. Gets run in Single User Mode, usually after running fsck, and can be used to delete those swap files, check plists for corruption, and delete swap files. Reducing the size of the log files is also helpful. And that is just good general maintenance and housekeeping (and always have two backup sets to protect you).
With your G5, you have four RAM slots, max of 4GB, though you've used all the slots now (4 x 512).

Printopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...

Exactly the same problem with me.
Some other threads advice to remove fonts, clean the caches, remove add ins but nothing works consistenty, for some it looks like it works, for me it failed.
What I did not try yet, was to move the Render files out of the malicious library to trash.

I have some information for you that can help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. That information can be found right here:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.

Second Line One possible solution is to disable �escape�. But this is a bad solution because there are umlauts and angle brackets (�<�,�>�) in some texts for my labels. Does anyone know a better solution?

thanks for your tip. It is a very good idea. But while testing I have found a little problem. with "pre". JSF renders labels like this:
<label> <---- notice this line break
Text</label>All labels start with a line break in the HTML code. So all labels start with a line break in the browser too if I use CSS with the "pre" option :(

A tab continuously pops up when I hit the back button, or type in a new url? Is there a fix for this?

It goes to different websites, yet all have the same template. I've tried deleting Firefox and reinstalling. I've placed my PC in safe mode and hit the system restore. I've used multiple anti-viruses and malware software and nothing.
It only happens in Firefox. My Chrome, Safari, and the terrible IE works perfect.

Use one of these methods to open the tab history list and bypass the page with that gives the alert:
* Right click on the Back or Forward button
* Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens

Home sharing keeps cutting out on i tunes ever since the new March install - is there a fix for this?

does anyone have a solution regarding the constant fading out of home sharing with i tunes - I have reinstalled my remote app on my I Touch as well as in I tunes and I still have to constantly tun home sharing off and then re log back in - as soom as I go to another app on my touch and then go back to remote I have lost the home sharing connection - any suggestions?

I am having the following problem:
Most of the time when i call someone or someone calls me they cannot hear me.
I can hear them but they cannot hear me.
They can hear me and I can hear me when I use the earphone.
I checked the mute button turning it off and on, no difference, also reset the phone several time.
I checked on Internet for possible ways to repair the issue but the problem remains.

It may not have anything to do with the RAM, or it might.
Not enough to go by to say for certain, and the blunt "get new RAM" doesn't address how to troubleshoot or resolve most likely.
Was it installed properly?
How much did you install?
Make? vendor.
Try running with just the new RAM.
Run Apple Hardware Test - boot 'd' key on startup, you may need your OEM Install DVD.
Run Rember and/or Memtest utility to test memory, or TechTool Deluxe.
When a computer restarts on its own it often means there was a kernel panic or something and damage to files, directory, journal and in need of repair, booting off your DVD or another drive to repair the drive, delete some files, turn journaling off and then on.

New ram not showing up in MacPro 1,1

I bought new ram for an old MacPro 1,1 and only the old ram shows up. I know the new ram works as I can start my computer with each individual stick but they wont work together. Any idea? I can move my old 512chips to any slot and it works so I’ve ruled out bad slots. The new ram chips work but only one shows up. I have switched them out too and both work so Ihave know idea what’s going on. Hope someone can help.

Brand A and B not working together or even same but from different batches, can happen.
Each SET will work fine, you can't do "individually".
I've seen people use A1:B1 and A3:B3 which is not supported, yet has worked.
Or all RAM on top Riser.
As far as I know the Risers are interchangeable, there is no "A" and "B" other than "top" and "bottom" and some have had to do an advance exchange and get a new Riser sent out under AppleCare.
Get out your OEM 10.4.7 discs and one of them has Apple Hardware Test, use "command-D" with the DVD in the tray.
No, you don't need a battery.
It just sounds like a defective set. You bought OWC, Crucial, Kingston, Mac Pro certified (and large RAM heatsinks) then just contact seller and have them send them back as DOA.

New Mac Doesn't Recognize Old Mac For Firewire Migration

I attempted to migrate my files from my G5 desktop to my new Intel desktop MacPro using Migration Assistant and a Firewire cable. It instructed me to connect the two Macs with a Firewire cable and restart the old Mac holding down the "T" key. I did just that, the Firewire logo came up on my old Mac as a screensaver, but the new Mac just sat there saying, "Waiting for disc" or something like that. Rebooting both computers had no effect.
Some additional background -- I started the process earlier today and it worked fine, but I aborted (by disconnecting the Firewire cable) after realizing it would take over seven hours to complete. I then upgraded the new Mac from Tiger to Leopard with an Erase and Install. When I attempted the process again later, the new Mac would no longer recognize the old one.
Could it be a case of Leopard not recognizing Tiger? Any other suggestions?

For anyone else experiencing this problem, I wound up having to reformat my new computer with Tiger before it would recognize the old computer. :/

Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go. I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install. I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3. Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point. some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times.

The process to update your Tom Tom is a big data file, you will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for it to download. If will take about an hour.
