New Raw Support update

Run software update to get Raw support for
Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Canon EOS 7D
Canon PowerShot G11
Nikon D3S
Nikon D300S
Nikon D3000
cameras.

TD

Hello
I just ran this update, but the computer froze before it could complete installation. After I restarted, I suddenly got a "Raw not supported" red-screen message for pictures taken with my Canon Eos 50D (which worked fine before the Raw support update installation...)
Does anyone know what could be the problem?
TIA for any help!

  • When will come the new raw version update for Adobe Lightroom 4 with Nikon D750 support?

    Hello Adobe,
When will come the new raw version update for Adobe Lightroom 4 with Nikon D750 support?
    Best regards
    Frank

There won't be an update for Lightroom 4. The only way you can work with your D750 raw files is to use the free standalone DNG converter to create DNG copies. If you want to be able to work on the NEF files then you will have to upgrade to Lightroom 5. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in. Everything is part of the Lightroom program. If you want to stay current with Lightroom then you need to follow the update/upgrade path. That means purchasing each new major version of Lightroom or subscribing to the creative cloud plan.

  • No new raw support in 3.4?

As far as I can tell, the update to 3.4 and to iPhoto 9.4 offer no new support for recent cameras.  I still don't have Aperture support for the SONY RX 100 (I do in Lightroom, but not in any products that depend on Apple's raw support - iPhoto, Aperture, Pixelmator, etc..  I understand the no support for the Nikon D600; the camera just started shipping two days ago, but I can't understand why Apple hasn't upgraded the support for dozens of cameras released over the summer.
    Just a gripe.

Aperture menu -> Provide Aperture Feedback
Gripe to them, they can do something about it.

  • New RAW Support in 10.5.8?

I noticed that they new OS X 10.5.8 update includes new RAW compatibility. I am not home at my Mac right now and would like to know what cameras this update adds (I'd be very happy if it added the Olympus E-P1!). I checked the official list, but it hasn't been updated for 10.5.8 yet.

nerowolfe, no, of course I don't "know for a fact that information was submitted to Apple and was ignored." I used reason and logic to conclude that it's more likely than not that information has been supplied. And I could just as well be wrong. But here's what I based my thinking on:
Leica announced both the M8.2 and the D-LUX4 on the same day last September, and I believe the DLUX4 was actually available before the M8.2, which is now supported. Indeed, I think every Leica digital camera is supported now, except for the DLUX4. In order for us to conclude that Leica is the problem, we'd have to suppose that, unlike all of its other cameras, Leica is holding back on this one specific model for some reason. Is that a reasonable supposition? I don't think so. Further, their predecessors are supported (both the M8 and the D-LUX 3). So at least the history here suggests that Leica does cooperate. But it's certainly possible that this camera was singled out for special treatment. Who knows, maybe they made a deal with PhaseOne, makers of CaptureOne supplied with the camera, not to give the secret sauce ingredients to Apple.
But no, I don't know for sure that information was in fact supplied and was ignored. I simply was hoping for support for this camera that's been out for many months now without raw support in Aperture.

  • New RAW support for Fuji X10 camera

I really appreciate all the work that must be done at Adobe in order to keep up with new cameras and their un-ending parade of new RAW file formats. Case in point, the new Fuji X10. RAW support was added for this model in the most recent Lightroom/Photoshop update and I was very glad for that since I acquired a new X10 just a couple of weeks ago. However, I am not able to get a handle on the noise reduction and sharpening aspects of the RAW files from the X10. Is it possible that since Fuji uses a non-typical array on their EXR sensor inside the camera that the usual sharpening and noise reduction controls are not adequate? They produce some very strange and inpleasant results. It's really puzzling since I have been a ACR user for many years with other camera makes and models and have always been able to optimize the RAW files in such a way as to better the camera's JPEG output. Not so with the X10. I should note that all the other adjustable parameters seem to work as would be expected when processing RAW files from the X10. It's just the Noise and Sharpaning parameters which do not seem to work very well. At least not as well as the camera's own internal noise and sharpening processing does. Suggestions? Maybe I'm misssing something, but I think I have tried every combination of adjustment possible from within Lightroom to try and improve the noise and sharpening from X10 files, but with very little success. It actually seems to work better to re-process out of camera JPEGs or "in camera processed" RAW files. At least the results from these files act more like one would expect, but this does give up much of the flexibility of working directly on a RAW file especially in areas such as recovering highlight detail, etc.
Hope someone can provide some answers!
    Tom

Exactly my experience, plus blue/cyan difficult to get right, on 2 (Apple) computers/monitors...OOC jpegs are good, more easily processed, what gives?

  • Apple releases Digital Camera RAW Support Update

    -Pentax *ist DS
    Other issues addressed:
-Handling of large Canon RAW files (.CRW)
    -DNG compatibility on Intel-based Macs
-Lines sometimes appearing in images exported from Aperture
Now all my Lightroom DNG's finally open in aperture...
This was a very quite update. The intel/ppc links are in the site below.

Wow. I just installed the universal version of this update and now my iMac won't boot. How swell... It sits at the white screen.
I can hold down the power button and turn it off and on, but that's it. I've tried booting from CD by holding down C and zapping the PRAM and it still just sits at that white screen. I've unplugged it and am going to leave it for about 15 minutes and see if that does it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

  • RAW support for Olympus OM-D E-M10 will it be updated?

I see support for most Olympus Cameras, but no support for the new OM-D E-M10. Anyone know how long it takes to get the RAW support updated?

Only Apple will know when  updates will be released.  If you want an educated guess, look at the support page for updates and downloads.
    Apple - Support - Downloads http://support.apple.com/downloads/#digital%20raw%20compatibility%205.05
Recently, there have been new raw support releases for new cameras every one or two months.

  • Why so long for raw suppert  updates for new cameras

why so long for raw support  updates for new cameras

Only Apple management can answer that and they don't give out that type of information.
If there is  a specific camera you would like supported send feedback to Apple. See Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback

  • HT203088 Will Aperture get new camera support for RAW files in the future?

    need answers

RAW support is part of the OS for Apple;  it is not part of Aperture.
Apple has stated that they will continue to support Aperture _on Yosemite_ but not on any future OS's.
Therefore it appears _reasonable_ to conclude that all RAW support updates for Yosemite will work with Aperture.
Apple provides no guarantee (or has, afaik, any contractual obligation) to stick to the above.
Apple makes no statements regarding updates to the RAW compatibility.

Seems to be a widespread human condition.

  • Aperture update 2.1.3 still no RAW support for Lumix G1

Once again and after posting to Apple development we still have no RAW support for the Panasonic Lumix G1. How much longer Apple...!

RAW support updates are separate from Aperture updates..
Maybe with 10.5.7... or another RAW compatibility update sometime.. hopefuly soon.

  • Can't install RAW Camera update 2.3

This post is actually on behalf of my brother. He has a 2007 MacBook, running 10.4.11 and has tried, unsuccessfully to install the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3
The installer runs, asks to restart, he complies, however can still not open the RAW images off of his Canon 50D. Here's the error Preview presents, after attempting to install the plug-in, then trying to open a RAW image:
However, the problem is not just with Preview, of course. Since the "update" should usher in system-wide RAW compatibility, but doesn't, neither Aperture 2.1.4, nor iPhoto 6 recognize the pics either.
I tried to determine exactly what is supposed to be getting updated here. (By the way, I'm running this same "RAW Update" successfully on my Mac Pro, running 10.5.8. And we've both got 50D's.) Anyway, on my machine, I navigated to:
    +Mac HD > System > Library > Core Services+ and found this plug-in:
Great! 2.3.0 However, on my brother's machine, even after a "successful" install of this RAW update, his plugin only reports the version as 2.0.11 - obviously it's not really installing properly. Oddly enough too, I packaged my plug-in and moved it to his machine, put it in the right folder, rebooted and still no luck with my 2.3.0 version of the plug-in. So I'm not sure what else to try.
Any ideas here? We also tried installing Digital Camera RAW Support Update 1.0.1 (Universal). I was thinking maybe this Support Update needed to be installed before the plug-in could work. However, attempting to install this item resulted in him being told that it was unnecessary. That he was already up to date. So, I don't know what else to try.
He just bought Snow Leopard. But he's going to wait to install it for a month or so - when I'm home to help him with it all. Either way, a complete OS upgrade is supreme overkill when we're just trying to get a plug-in to work. I'd love to find a way to get this all working properly, in the meantime.
    Thanks for any ideas!

He could try another user account on the slim chance that will help.
We might try this because it's relatively quick & easy.
Otherwise, the only other idea I have is to do an Archive & Install of the OS and then reinstall updates.
I don't think we'll go this route. He has Snow Leopard, ready & waiting. If we're going to (re)install an OS then I'd just as soon "come clean" to the new world, as opposed to spending all the time to stay where we are—considering that we could go that far and still, potentially, end up right where we are now: dead in the water.
Thanks for your time and input here!

  • Sony Alpha 850 RAW support in iphoto 09

hi guys..previously i was using iphoto 08 and now just got myself an iphoto 09 version 8.1.1(419),but i still cant seem to import my RAW files from A850 to my iphoto, jsut wondering..is there any support for my RAW?anything i could update to make it work?
    thanks in advance

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If your camera isn't listed here then it's not supported: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1475.
If the camera is relatively new it will be a while before it gets supported. Keep checking the Apple Downloads page frequently for new RAW format updates.

  • Will Aperture 3.6 eventually provide raw support to Sony a5100

I have an iMac running OS X Maverick 10,9,5, and currently use Aperture 3.5.1 with all of its latest RAW updates.  I am considering updating to Yosemite to get Aperture 3.6.  I note that so far 3.6 does not provide RAW support to the Sony a5100.  Lightroom does have RAW support for this camera, and I can get Lightroom and keep Maverick.  However, I like Aperture and would like to continue using it.  But will the new version on Yosemite ever get RAW support for my camera?  I also see from other posts that many are having problems with both Yosemite and with Aperture 3.6.  I would need some reassurance before taking the step to a new OS X.  I need some advice about what to do.
    Thanks

But will the new version on Yosemite ever get RAW support for my camera?
We cannot tell you this, but any new Raw Support will most likely only be available on Yosemite.
The latest Digital Raw Compatibility Update was only for Yosemite, Aperture 3.6, and iPhoto 9., see:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1777?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
I need some advice about what to do.
Upgrade, but don't burn your bridges. I'd keep a full TimeMachine backup or a bootable clone of your system as it is now, so you can easily revert to the previous version.

  • Nikon p7100 raw support.

I have no problem importing raw files but I would like to know if the P7100 "profile" in aperture does automatic distortion correction and automatic chromatic aberation correction the same as the build in jpg engine in the camera.

    Sort of just venting.
    If it helps
You can get an idea, of the time for the raw support to be released by looking at the Apple Support Downloads  page: http://support.apple.com/downloads/.
Enter "Digital Camera RAW Support Update" into the searchfield, and you will see how frequently new raw support will be released.
