New Razor is Dead

My one month old razr discarged in 2 hours yesterday morning. I charged it and it worked yesterday. Today it won't even turn on. It was on charge all night after I let it run down. The person at the store said they would have one shipped to me within 5 days. Ok, now I have no phone service at all. Should have kept my flip phone. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, two phones same problem.
There may be two things in common here. The charger and/or the operator.
Lets go with the charger first. Have you been using the same charger for both phones (replacements usually just come with the phone only is why I ask) Do you have a different charger to try? Are you charging from the USB on your PC or laptop? When off, the PC and Laptop don't have any power to the USB ports. My wife learned that the hard way with her other phone (a regular flip phone) She had two charger ends on the desk, one was the phone charger and the other was to the PC for synching.
Another problem I've read about is covers. The silicon and hard type. People have said that the various cutouts interfere with the buttons or don't allow the charger to make a good connection. I use a HD Dock so I have to remove my phone from the cover to charge.
Down to 80% in five minutes is kinda fast. Mine goes to 90% in the minute or two it takes me to undock and walk to the bathroom in the morning. It stays at 90% forever though.
Does the phone get hot? A hot phone is an indicator that the battery is discharging like crazy. If the phone dies and doesn't get hot, the battery was either already discharged or the battery is not the issue.

  • New T520 With Dead Pixels

Hi, I have a new T520 that I have purchased about 30 days ago and it already has some deak pixels on the screen. How can I go about getting these fixed?
    Thanks,
    Josh

Hi, I went through the same dillema with a previous purchase. Out of the box, it's got stucked pixel so I returned them and ordered a new one. Your's is already more than 30 days old so Lenovo Post Sales might give you a hard time with a return but if it has more than 3 dead pixels, I believe you can return it for warranty.

  • Activation Problems with new Razor

My original razor is worn out and limping on it's broke leg and my last nerve. I bought a Motorola K1m KRZR off eBay to activate while I'm still under my upgrade time.
I went to the Verizon wireless web site, logged in, put the new phones ESN in and it accepted the info. Turned old one off and new one on and dialed *228. Nothing, nothing, nothing but failures to activate. Called 800-992-0204 only it's after 11 so, nothing but voice prompts telling me to do the same thing the web site told me to do. So, I went back to the web site and this time instead of the ESN I put the MEID. The web form looks like it want's both with a / between them but there isn't enough characters in the form to fit it all. So I submitted only the MEID. Same results. Web site accepted the number and said turn the old one off and active new phone with *228. Nothing, nothing, nothing but more failures to activate.
Has any else had this problem during activation? If so, what did you do? Wait to talk to a Rep. during normal business hours? They should have a tech team there 24/7. Of course if they did that I'd be talking to someone in India who I can't understand. I can fake a great Indian accent but I can't understand one.
    Help.

    Hi,
One possibility could be that the phone is on a Lost/Stolen list, or a NonPay list, this would prevent the activation from completing. This can happen especially when buying from a third party.
Usually when you see both an ESN and MEID you'll want to use the MEID. Only enter in the numbers, no extra symbols. So it sounds like you definitely did it correctly. It's most likely something in the billing system that's preventing it.
Do you have any pending orders for a plan or feature change?
When calling *228 do you maintain at least 2-4 bars of signal?
Otherwise, you can call Tech support, but they usually don't change phones unless it's an emergency. I guess it would vary by case. And you would most certainly NOT speak to anyone in India. VZW does not outsource their calls outside of the country. You may get someone of a different ethnicity, but they won't be outside the country. =)
    Good luck!

  • New mac book - dead pixels allready

so - i bought the black macbook 3 weeks ago - very pleased with its power - and built - and it runs really fast - a few days ago i discovered i have 2 dead pixel - one on the top of the screen the second one is at the middle bottom .... really noticeable - so i called apple service in israel - and got a pretty annoying answer , saying that the Apple policy regarding pixel problems on new bought laptops is that until 9 dead pixel it is considered to be legitimate and acceptable.... so i am stuck with a new computer with a big defect and i have nothing to do .... few days ago i had to buy a new screen for my studio's G5 after wearing off my old apple studio monitor - i got a brand new 22" samsung lcd monitor and the sales man caught my ears when he told me that dead pixels will always occur on the first days or weeks of a new screen and it is always manufacturing defect - and should i have any pixel problem the new screen i bought would be replaced at once ....how come a 400$ screen has better warranty then a 1500$ macbook ????
what am i spouse to do with a brand ew mackbook with those 2 dead pixel ....it is al i see when i am working ....

Wait a bit. When you close the lid, the mac's sleeping light will stay lit for about a minute. During that time the Mac us writing it's memory to discuss for hibernating if it is left to sleep so long that the battery dies. After about a minute, the light should flash slowly off and on indicating it is now in sleep mode.
If you open the lid when the light is on solid (ie just close the lid and re-open) it takes about 30 seconds or so before you will be able to use the computer and sometimes you have to press the power button. But if after a minute of sleep 'prep' time you reopen the lid, it should come on right away.

  • New iMac with dead pixels

I just got a brand new 21.5 iMac it has 2 dead pixels, is this normal what's the acceptable number of dead pixels?

Here is an Apple KB article pertaining to dead pixels. It does not list a number that is acceptable or not.
But, Apple has a 90 day return policy, unless I believe you have a custom configuration. So I would return it if the dead pixels are in a place where you see them all the time and it bothers you.

  • New iphone 5c dead!!!

I have a new iphone 5c and after two days of use, now it is dead, the battery was complete, i´ve tried everything what is on the web, and nothing, the only thing it does is connect to itunes, but then it says...waiting for the iphone.

Did you try plugging the device in to charge? If you purchased this device in New York, you will have to return the device to the US for warranty service. You cannot ship it to the US either, unless you ship it to a family member. Apple will not accept international shipments. The warranty for that phone is only good in the US, the iPhone does not have an international warranty.
You can try the steps in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281 however, if that does not work, you will have to either send the phone to a family member to take to Apple, or you will have to bring it to the US yourself.

  • New ipad is dead

I bought my IPAD in May and it has worked just fine until today.  Now it is dead and won't even come on even when it is plugged in.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

The fact that the iPad is dead ..... Nobody here could verify that for you. If you are asking about the out of warranty replacement cost for the iPad, that information is correct.
Apple offers two service options for iPads that are not eligible for warranty service.
Battery Replacement ServiceIf your iPad requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, please refer to the Battery Replacement tab on the left.
Out-of-Warranty ServiceIf you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.
    iPad model
    Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
    New iPad
    $299
    iPad 2, iPad
    $249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if you arrange service online or by calling Apple Technical Support. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.
Apple reserves the right to determine whether or not your iPad is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. Replacement iPads have a 90-day limited hardware warranty or assume the remainder of your standard warranty or AppleCare service contract coverage, whichever is longer. Please see the AppleCare+ for iPad and Apple Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • Is my new MBP 13 dead ?

I have a two-week old MBP 13"; I have installed no new hardware.
Today I got the flashing question mark on start up, reset the pram, and then tried to repair the disk. The utility said the disk could not be repaired.
Well, I decided to try re-installing the OS, but the install screen offers me no disks to install it to.
Is the hard drive likely dead or am I missing something ?
    Message was edited by: tejasgordo

Tech support confirms my hard drive needs replacing.
    As for how . . .
Tech support tells me that my local university is an authorized apple service provider where I can take my comp. That comes as news to me because it does not appear as such either on its own web site or apple's.
Anyways, I call the number tech support gives me, and I get a voice mail saying that it's the number for the director of purchasing for the entire university. Huh ? Oh, and of course she is unavailable, and her message says nothing about apple service.
My calls to the university's general information and IT numbers yielded only denials that apple service was performed there.
I call apple support back for some clarity. They have nothing else they can tell me other than "that's what the records show."
Sure, electronic components can and do fail unexpectedly. That's just a fact of modern life.
However, I don't know if my new MBP can be fixed locally and cannot know until the director of purchasing for a university is available by phone ?
    Seriously ?

  • New T530 with dead / unresponsive pixel in upper middle of screen

I have one dead or unresponsive pixel in the upper middle part of the screen. It is stuck in red color. It is very difficult to ignore  this red dot and it is very annoying to use my machine with this red dot on the screen. What can I do?
I ordered my T530 on July 27th and received it on Aug 20th. I've used it for two days and used UDpixel or similar online tools in attempt to unstuck this red pixel. The pixel is still stuck in red. What can I do about this? Need help. I need to use my  laptop for school.

  • 10.5.7 - VGA connection to LCD TV on new MacBook Pro dead. HELP PLEASE!

    I don't have a clue what's gone on here.
Just downloaded the latest update and the connection to my TV has gone mental. It changes the resolution on my MacBook screen to something ridiculous and doesn't properly connect to the TV screen.
Obviously, this is because of the new update is there anyway of going back to 10.5.6? I want to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm on my big screen!
PS I've only recently moved to Mac so could any advice be idiot proof.
    Thanks

Hi - Update for anyone that is interested. I've had a play around...
I went into System Preferences/Display and connected the TV.
The resolution still changed but I went to 'Arrangement' and deselected 'Mirror Displays' (10.5.7 to thank for that) My screen on the MacBook returned to its normal resolution but the TV was still not working.
I selected 'Display' and then 'Gather Windows' and on the TV's Display changed the resolution to 1600x1024 instead of the one 10.5.7 assigned.
Bingo! It's all back up and running!
Wish I didn't have to spend 20 mins on the phone to Apple though with no solution - that'll be added to my student phone bill! ARGH!

  • New power adapter dead after one charge cycle

    hi guys.....
my power supply went a week or so ago... started to turn on and off then stopped completely...
i bought a new apple A1021 as an exact replacement to the previous...
plugged it in and got amber led then charged through to green and all functionality was as normal... problem sorted.... or so i thought....
came to it the next morning to find no led on.... so i checked fuse and swapped lead etc but no response....
phoned apple store mac docs whose answer was 'ummm i don't really know try resetting the pmu' which i have done but still no luck....
so my questions to you are:
    1. is the new power supply faulty?
    2. is there a problem with something shorting / feeding back into the power supply.... frying it?
    3. is there an internal fault preventing charge / power? (although it did charge once)
    4. a friend said it could be a faulty battery?
i don't know if you have come across this before but any help or suggestions would be greatly appretiated.... thanks

You may need to download and install the SMC firmware update:

  • New iMac, old "dead" XP laptop with backup of iTunes library on Iomega eGo

Here is the scoop - We have a brand new iMac and would like to make it where we control iTunes. My wife's iPod has the bulk of our iTunes library on it but not all of it. We have an external Iomega eGo that has a fairly recent backup of our iTunes library from a recently defunct HP laptop which ran XP.
Can I attach the eGo to the iMac and copy the iTunes library to the iMac? Will the iMac "see" the eGo or was/is the eGo formatted for XP?
Or... is our only option to create a new library on the iMac using my wife's iPod as the source?
Besides an iPod and an iPhone... the new iMac is our first Apple computer and so far we love it... just trying to figure out how to get iTunes running on it without losing alot of our music.
And we already have Time Machine running to a G-Technology drive... so once we are running, we should be fairly well protected against future drive issues. : )

  • New iPhone radio "dead" in 3 days.

Well, after standing in line for 14 hours to get my new iPhone last Thursday, it appears the radio failed last night (Sunday)! The service bar shows "No Service Available" (wherever I am). Other iPhones in same location have 4 bars. Dial my phone from a landline and get my voicemail (so I'm assuming my AT&T service has not been cut off).
I guess it's back to the local Apple store.
    Not a good start....

"Try holding it in your right hand instead of your left".
Slight pun out of the way; contact AT&T. In the UK; when I transferred my Sim to a MicroSim and O2 Terminated my old sim; the phone appeared to lose its signal.

  • New iMAC 27" dead pixels

i got delivery of my first mac, iMac 27" high spec machine and it had three dead pixels.. one phone call to apple and ivw got to say, there service is second to none.. straight away they arranged a second one to be made and delivered, and the first one picked up. i got my second iMAC within two weeks of the phone call.
then the second one had specs of dust under the glass!!! Again, exceptional after sales and im sitting here waiting for my third iMAC to be delivered..
half of me thinking am i being too fussy, but for the £2500 ive spent i expect perfection and apple agree.
anyone who has these issues, if your patient like me, apple have made my problems simply stress free, and im praying the third one is perfect..
my question.. am i being to fussy? three dead pixels , then dust under glass... i mainly do photographic tweaking on the imac so i hope you dont think so??

hi mark wania, i dont think you are fussy. you have the right to ask for replacement because you pay everything for it. i dont see anything wrong. i have similar problem with dead pixels.
do you know how much i have to spend for an iMac in Malaysia? you times the figure with 3.6. and that is about a month salary for a regular executive.
i have spoke to JUDE on this issue. it is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE that apple support set a number of tolerable defect to them. they mentioned about at least 11 pixels to enable me to get a replacement. I am talking about product defect. it does not matter to me whether it is 11 pixels, 100 pixels or even 1. I pay for the price and I am expecting a good product and kind service.
to me, apple should addressed this manufacturing or delivery issue properly.
I have done what the support team asked me to do yesterday and it seems that this is nothing to do with software, drivers or even operating system. I am going to call for a replacement or repair tomorrow as i need to check other thing as well like iSight camera. it sounds like more and more people having defect items. those comments make me feels bad that I might have chosen the wrong computer manufacturer.
